“Yeah.” I flip my mic on. “She Dog to HS Ops. Dark SUV tailing us. Stopped at the corner east side. I'm circling the block and will come up from behind.”

Josiah answers. “Roger, She Dog. I've got you up and VP is stepping over.”

“Why aren't you calling into PD?”

We start walking the back of the block. “I would but I'm HS. Kind of on loan to PD. I take calls when they have them and give support when they need it, but being HS I follow HS procedure.”

He nods, but doesn't ask any more questions.

“She Dog stand down,” VP says in my ear.

I stop. “Roger VP.” I don't move waiting for him to tell me what the fuck is going on. When nothing comes through I ask. “Am I riding away VP?” I can't ask why without unleashing a shit storm so I go with easy.

“Dakota is on the scene, She Dog. It's Strapper. VP doesn't want you near him. He said ride away.”

Fuck! “Roger Ops. I'm heading back to Patrol.” I spin around pissed and walk back to my bike.

Aaron is quiet until I throw my leg over. “Wouldn't have minded cuffing him either.”

I smile and pull out slow, riding the opposite way. Aaron never looked over. He's going to be good. Thirty minutes later we ride up to an accident that looks like it's on its way to being a brawl. When we get to the middle I'm pushed and push the pussy back. I shoot straight up and everyone stops.

“I'm not fuckin’ PD so don't push your luck!” People move back. “Whose cars?” Two people step closer and more move back. I get the ten-minute story from one while the other is seething. Looking at Aaron, I tell him to pull the scene on the hologram board. He pulls his tablet and starts typing. “We'll see how it happened and work from there.” I point to the bigger but younger kid. “You're too pissed to give me the story. This will save time and I won't have to go through that shit again.” He relaxes and gives me a nod. The first story I got was too fuckin’ convoluted to make out anything that might have really happened. People are so fuckin’ interested in hearing themselves talk, I don't think they even know what they're saying.

We move closer to the bikes and see Aaron pulled his cut and is using the inside of it to show the hologram board bigger, we watch the scene. “Shit.” He looks back. “I'd say that whole fuckin’ story was a waste of time.”

The liar is pissed. I look at him. “Really? You're going to be pissed when we all just watched what happened? Get me your license, registration, and insurance.” I look at the bigger kid. “Same for you. It looks like he's paying.” The kid smiles and walks back to his car. He probably figured it would be on him because he's younger. I'm glad it's not.

I pull my tablet and fill in a report then look at the crowd. It's thinned out but a few people are still pissed. “What the fuck is the problem?”

“That kid hit him!” Some woman yells.

I look at her and walk closer. “We have feeds all over the fuckin’ place. The kid didn't hit him. We watched the whole fuckin’ thing.” She steps back surprised. “Whatever the fuck your problem is, it isn't with this kid, so get the fuck home and mind your business.” I look at Aaron. “They're not pissed that the douche was lying but pissed at a kid.” I shake my head. People are nuts.

We wait until a wrecker and the kid's dad show. Aaron explains what happened and the dad hugs his boy. I get a smile and nod from the kid and we head back to PD. Since it took for-fuckin’-ever, my shift is almost done. It's much calmer in here, I notice, as I make it to the Patrol counter and hook my tablet in. Going over the report, I make sure I didn't miss anything. The kid will need it based on the fuckin’ liar’s hissy fit. I save it and send a copy to the two drivers then check out.

With a couple of minutes left in my shift, I walk toward Surveillance to pick up Eliza. “You ready, Kicker?”

She looks up and nods. “Yeah thanks. You heading home?”

“I need to go to Security. Strapper was following me today. Dakota handled it.”

Her jaw clenches, but she doesn't say anything. We follow her to the compound then ride to Security. VP is at the boards in Ops. “Do I need anything from the Strapper shit?”

He looks at me and I wait. Shit if he has to think about it this isn't good. “Stay alert. He was just following, but he's a loose cannon.”

  I nod. “The kids?”

“Covered.” He's not saying anymore so I throw chin and walk away. Aaron is waiting at the bikes.

“I'm dropping it and driving the Jeep. You didn't have to wait.”

He nods. “I'm your Security until you get to the compound.”

I drop my bike with a Brother in back and drive to the daycare thinking about the day. It was a good one. Aaron is going to do fine. Uncle Danny calls and I hit the button to talk. The Jeep fills with his voice. “How does this Saturday sound Sheila?” By his voice I know he's smiling.

  “For?”

  “Your wedding.”

My body shivers with excitement. “Perfect. It's too short of notice for the old ladies to get crazy.”

He laughs. “I don't think everyone should be counting on that, they can pull shit together fast, they've had a lot of experience.”

“Shit. You're right. Prez's wedding was fuckin’ crazy. We don't have all those people though. It can't be that bad can it?” Prez had other Chapter Officers show at his. There had to be six hundred people showing.

His voice softens. “It will be good Sheila, there won't be as many people and it’s your day. If it gets to be too much just leave.”

I nod like he can see me. “Thanks Uncle Danny.”

“I'll see you Saturday.” He's gone so I hit the button on the wheel and park in the daycare lot.

As I'm climbing out, my phone rings. Nancy is excited and I have to go up and try on dresses. Fuck. Aaron is waiting on the side of his bike looking around. Before I make the daycare door Tess calls, then Kate, then Amanda, then Tiny. “Holy fuck!” I give Aaron my phone and go in to get the kids. He can talk to them.

Mitch came down last week and spent the day with Stella. She brought her another iPad that sends information to her and she sends games and books directly to Stella. She talked to the women here and told Prez we need a school like the MC. These women aren't teachers and don't know how to give the kids what they need.

Today Stella and Aquyà are signing back and forth, making me smile. He looks at me and signs Stella did good today. I laugh kissing his little cheek. You'd think he was older, but he's only four. Brandon and Justice come over with Teller and Phoenix following. ‘We go with you,’ Teller signs. I look for seats seeing them by the door. With three dogs here there is no way we're all fitting in the jeep.

“Let me see if we can fit all the seats.”

I hear a shot and get the kids away from windows and door. Another shot has me pulling my gun. Once they're secure I flip my mic on. “She Dog to HS Ops. Shots fired outside the daycare.”

“Roger She Dog. FS is coming through the back. Prez is on his way down.”

More shots and I know FS isn't coming in anytime soon. Brandon and Aquyà are standing in front of the kids just watching me. The dogs are sitting by them. Weird.

Josiah: “She Dog on with Prez. Josiah on control.”

Prez: “She Dog keep them right there until we clear the building. Eagle Eye and Sniper are two out.”

  Me: “Roger Prez.”

A woman's scream has me moving the kids further toward the kitchen. It has two doorways to it so I don't want them in there but I need them away from the threat. “We're going a little further in guys okay.”

“The closet has enough room for all of us,” Justice says.

I nod putting my finger to my lips and sign for him to show me. Around the wall we were standing against is a supply closet. Just as I'm closing the door a scream cut off by a shot inside the building has me looking down the hall. I close the door and move the kids to the back corner behind metal shelving, the dogs sit in front of them like they're covering them.<
br />
Me: “She Dog to Ops. We're in a supply closet. Shot was fired in the building.”

Prez: “Roger She Dog. Eagle Eye is in the building. Hold your position. Sniper is moving in from the front.”

Me: “Roger Prez.” There is no fuckin’ way I'd leave them, but I'm not telling him that. I look between the shelves and see them sitting in a circle signing. The dogs are still sitting in front of them. These kids and dogs are unbelievable.

More shots, but this time it's automatic and in the fuckin’ building. What the fuck is going on? One single shot and the automatic stops. Thank fuck.

My gun is aimed at the door and I watch the handle move. Gun, red shirt, blue jeans and no watch or ink has me shooting as soon as I see his head and his arm swing my way. He is not Princes. I move quickly pulling him in and closing the door.

Me: “Ops I have one in the closet.”

Prez: “Roger She Dog.” Another shot outside the door has me aiming for it again. “Stand down She Dog. Eagle Eye is coming in. We have Security on the scene. Take the kids in an SUV. No seats. Get them to the compound.”

Me: “Roger Prez.” I turn for the kids and they're up waiting in a line. Stella is first. I lift her. Dexter stands by my side. “No seats guys. We need to get to the compound fast. Can you watch out for each other until we're there?” The boys nod. Aquyà signs for Stella. She nods and kisses my cheek. The door opens and my gun is out. I put it away when I see it's Dakota.

“My favorite little people. Let us get you to the compound where the bad men cannot get in. Yeah?”

I crack up and walk toward him. “Thanks Brother.”

He nods, his eyes are blazing, he's pissed but keeping it in. “Back door, Security is set, walk in between them and drive straight to the compound. Jessie is behind you.”

“Got it. Follow me team.” Dakota lifts Phoenix and Teller and follows Brandon, Aquyà and Justice. The dogs walk by their kids. We stay inside the row of Security and get the kids in. “Keep the little ones safe, guys.” They nod and I jump in the front while Dakota lets the dogs in the back. More shots are fired and Dakota yells for me to go. I go. Fuck. I don't see Jessie behind me. When I make the intersection, HS bikes fly by. I run through and relax seeing Jessie turn and follow. He's got my back. The next block he moves in front of me. Shit. I'm not getting their Ops and wonder what the fuck is going on. I slow as Jessie's shooting at the corner.

Prez: “She Dog they're trying to stop you from making the gate. Go around him!”

Me: “Roger Prez.” I cut the corner seeing a car barreling toward us and tell the kids to hold on. We ride the sidewalk to the next block and I jump back to the street. One block to go. HS bikes show making a line for me and I take it. We fly through the gate. I don't stop until I hit my road.

Me: “Prez are the houses secure?”

Prez: “Roger She Dog. Done is inside with Eliza waiting for the kids. I need you on HS.”

  Me: “I don't have a bike, Prez.”

  Prez: “At the gate.”

Me: “Roger.” I look back at the kids. “Eliza and Done are waiting for you. How about we get you inside where they can watch over you.” They nod. I slide out and open the back door. As I'm pulling them out Done runs them up to Eliza. The dogs follow Brandon inside. “I need to go.” Eliza nods at me. I kiss the kids telling them they did good keeping each other safe and run out the door.

At the gate I park the SUV and jump on the bike. This is the spare but my lid is here. I get a spare gun, a holster and ammo. I'm sticking shit in my lower pockets as fast as I can.

Me: “She Dog to Ops. At the gate ready to roll.”

Josiah: “She Dog switching you to Team Two. Prez on lead Josiah on control.” He's talking fast. I hear the click then Jessie telling Aaron to move.

Prez: “She Dog. Two blocks south one east.”

Me: “Roger.” I fly through the streets and see a pussy shooting out of a truck window. I shoot him, the tires, and the driver and keep going. “She Dog clear.” Ahead of them is Jessie and Aaron. “Coming up behind you Ghost.”

He turns and nods. Picking up speed we're getting close to the town center. Prez tells us there's a truck heading for the Women's Center. Fuck. Lily's still there.

Prez: “Stop it Ghost, before it makes the turn. Now!”

Jessie and Aaron shoot. I cut through the alley and come out in front of the building shooting. Fuckin’ pussies. When will this shit end? The truck rolls to a stop right in front of me. Jessie smiles and throws me chin. They were going to make a run on the doors. Jesus this is getting to be a bit much.

  Jessie: “Team Two clear.”

Prez: “Roger Ghost. Good fuckin’ job Team Two. Head into Security.”

  Jessie: “Roger Prez.”

Clean-up shows and we leave them to it. Aaron rides behind us not saying a word. Pulling in I see Taylor and Jax just getting off their bikes. Jax waits with a smile.

I smile back and take his hand. “You got your guy today. Fuckin’ nice.” I pull him down and kiss his cheek. “We need to get in and be done with this day. I have news you're going to need.”

Taylor laughs. “He knows. Everyone was calling him. He finally just shut his phone off.” He pulls me closer to him and kisses my head. “Happy for you Sheila.”

Jax doesn't let go of my hand. We follow everyone up toward the meeting room. I stop and drop the spare, holster and a shitload of ammo. “I need my clips filled. I'll pick it up on the way out,” I tell the Prospect. Jax and Taylor are on the side of me doing the same. I'm surprised Prez and VP are already here.

Prez waits for us to sit. “It's been a fuck of a day. Jax with the homeless killer. Sheila with Strapper following, then the fuckin’ daycare.”

Jax’s whole body freezes. I can feel the tension rolling off him. Shit. I can't say anything so I shrug. He looks back at Prez.

“The run on the kids was known, but not when. It didn't happen as we expected and we adjusted as best as we could. The warning was vague. We had the kids covered, but not for the attack that they went through. I had no fuckin’ clue it would go down like it did. No HS or Security were hit. A woman is injured. That's going to come down hard. We need a school for the kids and a daycare that is completely Princes. I'm not willing to put the kids on the line again. Uncle Danny will be here Friday. He'll give us some ideas, but I'm thinking the land right outside the gate. We can leave the wall up and build another around it. We already have Done on the kids. We need a teacher and daycare worker. If you have ideas give Jessie the names.” He looks at each one of us. “We don't know the players. They have New York plates, but every fuckin’ truck and car was stolen. With no breathers we have no information.” Shit. I shouldn't have shot the last guy in the head.

Prez looks at me. “I'm thinking this was for ransom. I don't give a fuck what the reasons. We need to make sure they don't get so close next time. You hit the pussy coming in the closet. If I were there I would have done the same thing.” I throw him chin.

He looks around the table. “You don't need to meet at the Club. I know you all want to get home to the kids. I'm at the Club then going to see my boys. They did good today. Let them know it helped keep them safe. I pulled you all here to reassure you that we will do better for them.” We all nod.

Prez walks to the door and man hugs Jessie, then Taylor, Aaron, Dakota, me and Jax. “Good fuckin’ job today Brother. Driscoll is ecstatic.”

Jax throws him chin and reaches for my hand. “I'm riding with you. The Jeep is at the daycare.” We walk to the Prospect to pick up our guns.

He stops. “It's at the shop. It got hit.” Fuckin’ great.

“The kids won't be getting off the compound for a few days. I'll have it done before you need it.” I don't tell him about taking Eliza to work. I'll use an SUV.

Dakota rides on the side of us right to our house. “We did not expect so many today. I am glad you were there to protect our kids Sheila. It worked out, but was more than I wanted the k
ids to see. I cannot imagine what was going through their little heads.”

I walk up to the door and stop. “Every one of them was calm the entire time. They didn't react to the dead pussy and the dogs stayed right with them.”

He nods. “Justice knew. I got it when I pulled up. Seeing a dead body is not something I want for my kids or yours, but it is the way that it is.” He sighs and follows us in.

Stella comes running with Brandon following. Jax picks up Brandon while I get Stella. “Are you having fun with your friends?” I ask and sign.

“We went down the slide. The boys like it too,” Brandon says.

Dakota looks at us. “I'm taking the boys home. I'll come back for my bike when Jessie and Jessica get home.”

Jax man hugs him. “No problem Brother. Thanks for keeping them safe today.” We watch the dog follow them out.

Done comes out of the kitchen. “I told Prez I don't mind staying until he gets back. Is the yard clear?”

“Yeah,” Jax says looking at me. I shrug. “We got them. Thanks Done.”

He looks back at Eliza. “I'll walk you home.”

She nods. “Dinner is in the oven. The kids have eaten. They were all good.”

I hug her and Stella kisses her cheek making her laugh. “I hope mine is as sweet as little Stella here.”

“Thanks for everything Eliza and Done. It makes it easy when we know they're taken care of.” They both throw chin putting a smile on my face. We put the kids down and walk into the kitchen.

Teller and Phoenix are sitting on the floor looking out the back door. Teller signs, 'Dog out.'

Jax opens the door and Omega and Dexter go out. I get our dinner from the oven laughing. Eliza isn't known for her cooking but she did good. We have hot dogs and mac and cheese with green beans. I wonder where she got the food.

Jax looks at it and smiles. “I guess with six kids here this was manageable.”

We eat watching the kids at the door. They're signing as Stella shows them something on her iPad. “So Saturday. Do you need to do something for the wedding?”
