“But what about the company?” I ask. He kisses down my chest, closer to the tops of my breasts.

“Don’t care,” he says. “Not even thinking about it.”

“When will you tell your brothers?”

“Addison?” he says, looking up at me. “Please don’t bring them up when I am trying to savor every inch of you.”

I caress his cheek with the back of my fingers. Cleanly shaven, his skin is smooth but I know the hard stubble will be back in just a few hours. Our ceremony was small and simple and perfect. Rex is now my family, and I am his. We’re all we need, but I do wonder about his brothers. “I just want to make sure—”

“I’m sure of everything,” he says. “Including the fact that this dress needs to come off…”

He pulls down the shoulder to my white dress, a little something I picked out on my own at a thrift shop on Melrose. It’s only now that realize that the fabric stretches, making it that much easier for Rex to take off. I shrug my shoulder to help him.

His mouth trails over the mounds of my breasts as his hands pull the dress down to my waist, slipping my arms out seamlessly. When he sucks on my tit all I can think is where will he put his hands and mouth next. I move into him, holding his head close, taking in his woodsy scent. He laps at my nipple as he takes down my dress further. I lift my hips up and off it comes, along with my panties, soaked as they are. I glance back toward the front of the cabin, where I know the flight attendant is.

“Don’t worry,” he says. “No one will come in.”

He runs his hands up my thighs, my mind clouded to little else other than his touch and the overwhelming needs of my body. I slip slower down on my seat and drape my leg over the armrest.

“Mrs. Croft,” Rex says, his eyes heavy on my pussy, open to him and waiting for that knowledgeable tongue of his. “Aren’t you an eager woman?”

“Yes,” I say. “Now get down there and let me fuck your mouth.”

“You’re so dirty,” he says, a grin on his face.

“You made me this way,” I say, thinking back to our first days.

Rex gets that look in his eyes that lets me know he is going to ravish me. I push his head down, and he takes my other leg and drapes it over the other armrest, spreading me as wide as possible. My eyes fall shut the moment his warm tongue flicks over my clit. He licks my pussy, soaking me even more. The walls of my cunt are throbbing and his tongue only makes me want more. I take his hair in my hand and pump his face into my pussy, forcing the rhythm I want him to perform. I’ve never taken him over like this before—Rex is certainly a man who likes to be in charge—but the way he digs his hands into my thighs makes me think he likes my aggression.

I may be in charge of the pacing, but the things Rex does with his tongue are all his own. He makes me so weak it’s a good thing I’m sitting down. He sucks on my clit, licks at it and teases it some more until I’m panting, little gasps and whimpers coming from me that I’m sure the staff can hear it even above all the jet noise. Rex has got me, and he knows it. He pushes my thighs into the seat, holding me down as he ravishes my cunt, his tongue flat and sure across my walls. He nips and sucks at my clit until my mind goes blank and my hips are convulsing, grinding into Rex’s mouth. My body is rigid yet exploding. I cry out.

After I come, Rex kisses my thighs, his hands delicately stroking my skin.

“You are so fucking sexy,” he says.

  “Still?”

  “Always.”

“What about you?” I say, opening my eyes.

“I’ll get my turn. But I intend to consummate this marriage the traditional way.”

  “Airplane bathroom?”

“Very funny.” He kisses my knee. “In bed. Slowly.”

“Mm, that sounds nice,” I say. But the truth is, I’m not sure I can wait that long.

  Somehow, though, I do.

The plane lands on a narrow stripe of dirt on the island. We’re driven a short distance to the main house (there are also three guest houses on the island). Even though there is a couple of staff there, ready to wait on our every need, Rex picks me up and carries me across the threshold of the house.

The master bedroom has a one-eighty view of the ocean, windows open to the gentle breeze. He lays me down on the enormous bed and kisses me.

“Have I mentioned how much I love you?” he says.

“Only about a hundred times. But tell me again.”

“Addison Croft, I love you more than I’ve ever loved anyone or anything in my life.”

He kisses me, his lips gentle on mine. When his tongue enters my mouth it goes slow and deep and I open up to him. Our hands begin undressing each other, and I kiss and lick across his hard chest, my hands running down his six-pack stomach. I yank down his pants and take his big dick in my hand, gently pulling on it while I watch. He’s lying back on the pillows and I’m on my knees before him. I spread my legs out, and let my wet pussy coat his dick. I slowly move back and forth across the length of his dick as he watches, his lips parted in lust. My cunt is absolutely throbbing for Rex, and rubbing it on his dick sends thousands of little electrical shivers across my body.

I move down and lick my own juices off his cock, which makes him moan out my name. I stretch my mouth wide take him in and suck him, going slow, making sure my tongue presses onto him in just the right way. I take him in deeper and deeper, opening my throat to the intrusion. I moan around his thick cock, loving the taste of him, the feel of him filling my mouth. I suck harder and faster until I’m sure he’s going to come—if he doesn’t, I just might come giving him head. But he pulls me off in one fast motion that startles me.

“I want to come inside you,” he says, panting. “God, you’re so sexy.” He kisses my mouth and I crawl onto his lap, feeling his rigid cock on my slick, throbbing pussy. I wrap my legs around him and grind into him. He holds my waist and lets me go, riding the top of his dick, slipping across the length of my aching walls. Then he flips me onto my back.

He takes his cock in his hand and slowly and easily slides it into me. I groan as he fills me up and stretches me out, his member so thick and long that I’ll never get used to it, and gladly. His eyes are on me as he moves slowly in and out of me just as he promised on the plane. He rubs my tits with one hand, then lowers himself further and kisses me as he makes love to me. I moan out his name when he moves away, and he increases his pacing, going faster and harder into me.

“Yes,” I tell him. “Please, yes.”

Rex pulls my knees up and holds me there as he goes into me in slow, hard thrusts, grunting with each one. We watch each other as we fuck, and the closer we get to our climax the harder and faster he goes until he’s slamming into me as I scream out my pleasure. My body bursts, my cunt contracting.

Rex falls next to me, panting. We wrap our bodies, sticky and slick with sweat and love, around each other and fall into a deep, blissful sleep. We don’t wake up until the next morning, when we start the whole thing over again.

We spend every day on that island doing whatever we want, which sometimes includes nothing at all. We eat well, lay in the sun—I get some good color—and make love more times than I can count. It is perfection. No distractions, nothing to worry about.

Still, I am happy to get back to L.A. When we arrive, the car takes us straight to Rex’s house, and my few possessions have been moved in.

“So I live here now,” I say, matter-of-fact. “That’s strange.”

“You don’t like it?” he asks.

“No, your house is amazing,” I say.

  “Our house.”

“Yes, our house. But maybe something…”

  “Bigger?” he says.

“I was going to say smaller. But maybe also a place that feels more like ours together.”

“If you want a new house, you’ll get a new house,” he says, kissing my lips. “Whatever you want.”

I’m ready to settle into wedded bliss. Tomorrow, on our first full day back in L.
A., I plan to call Reynolds Myer to set up a meeting to see if he really intends to be my agent, and also maybe get in touch with Rex’s real estate agent to see about buying a new home. But I don’t even get that far before things begin to unravel.

Later that afternoon I come upon Rex standing outside, leaning on the fence and looking out at the city. The sun is setting and casts a warm orange glow across his skin, but his face looks tight, and his brow is furrowed.

“Hey, you,” I say. “What you thinking about out here all alone?”

His face softens when he sees me, which thrills me to no end.

“Come here,” he says, and I step under his arm. I rest my head on his shoulder and look out at the city with him as it just begins to sparkle. I notice his phone is clutched in his free hand, and although that wouldn’t normally mean anything, the fact that he’s out here alone looking so pensive makes me wonder if something has happened.

  “Everything okay?” I ask.

He kisses the top of my head. “I knew I couldn’t escape it forever. I just got an email from the family attorneys. My brothers are flying in, and we all have to attend a meeting tomorrow to discuss the future of the company.”

I run my hand across his chest. I can tell he’s anxious about this but is trying to be stoic. Is Rex about to take over Croft International? He is married now, the main stipulation of gaining control. But I’m not sure he even wants that anymore.

“Email says there will be a team of my father’s handpicked ‘judges’—whatever that means—to assess who has…” He looks at his phone and reads. “Who has risen to the challenge and presents the best case to take over the company.”

“Is that what you want?” I ask. “To take over?”

He slips his phone back into his pocket. “It used to be all I wanted. Now I’m not so sure.”

“I’ll go with you, if you want me there.”

Rex looks down at me, his eyes holding onto mine. “I can’t imagine doing it without you. Thank you, Addison.”

“We’re a team now,” I say. “We have to look after each other.”

I don’t think either of us gets much sleep that night, our first night back in L.A. I lay my head on his shoulder, his arm wrapped around me. We don’t talk, we don’t make love.

We just wait for morning and whatever this meeting will bring. Whatever happens, though, I’m determined to make sure that nothing gets in the way of our happiness.

  REX

A ddison and I talked briefly over coffee this morning once we were dressed. I told her I didn’t want to take control of the company.

  “Are you sure?” she’d asked.

“No,” I said. “Not entirely. All I know is that I found you, and that’s what makes me happy right now. Taking on the responsibility of a multi-billion-dollar corporation right now will mean me being gone a lot. I want time with you. I don’t want to quit my job, but I’m not going to risk losing you.”

A month ago those thoughts wouldn’t have even been possible. Now I can’t believe how true they are. Addison and our marriage is what matters most right now, and it’s what I want to give myself to. Anything else—including work—is secondary.

We’re driven to the office, neither of us talking. We sit as close to one another as we can, Addison holding my hand the entire time. I have to remind myself that Father is dead, and I am not going to meet with him about something he thinks I screwed up. I am free of him and his wrath.

There’s also the fact of seeing my two brothers for the first time in months. We haven’t even spoken to each other in weeks, not directly anyway. I wonder how I’ll feel seeing them again.

When Addison and I walk into the conference room, right on time, I find a huge shock waiting for us. Apparently we are the last to arrive, and there sit my brothers—each of them with women close by their sides.

“Rex,” Jackson says, approaching me first. As the oldest, he’s always felt like he was in charge. Father had always told him—and Miles and me at any chance he had—that it would be Jackson who would take over the company one day simply based on birth order.

Jackson shakes my hand, and the look on his face calms me a bit. He’s not wearing his usual scowl. “It’s good to see you,” he says with not a lot of sincerity, but okay, we have to start somewhere.

  “You too,” I say back.

“I’d like you meet someone,” he says, moving back to the woman next to him. “This is Emily. My wife.”

I freeze for the briefest of moments. “Your wife? Well, okay. Hello, Emily. I’m Rex. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

“You too,” she says. Her handshake is firm, assured.

“Rex,” says Miles, who has stood up as well to greet me. We shake hands. “I also have someone I’d like you to meet.” He puts his hand on the shoulder of the woman sitting next to him. “This is my wife, Jordyn.”

If you had told me when I first heard about Father’s will that this is what would happen, I would have been pissed and accused my brothers of doing exactly what I planned to do a month ago—marry for the company and not for love. But it’s clear looking around the room that my brothers and their beautiful wives are no scam. I don’t know how we all managed it but it’s so absurd that I can’t help but laugh.

“What is so funny?” Jackson says, although he does have a little grin on his face as well.

“Everyone,” I say, “I’d like you to meet Addison. My wife.”

Addison steps close to me and I put my arm around her waist. My brothers and their wives all laugh—none of us had expected this, that’s for sure. The six of us go around and do proper introductions, the wives all hugging their greetings, surely already in some sort of weird sisterhood having to deal with the fucked lives of Croft boys. If they all end up liking each other, I can only imagine the stories they’ll exchange.

“If you all don’t mind,” says one of several older men who are also in the conference room—the lawyers and Father’s so-called judges who are there to decide not just the fate of Croft International but the fate of all our lives. “I’m Conrad Sterling and I’ll be leading this meeting and frankly I think it’s best that we get started. We have a lot to discuss, and we’ll want to hear each of your cases for taking over the company since it’s clear you’ve all followed your father’s wishes by becoming family men and settling down in marriage.”

“I didn’t settle down,” I say, looking at Addison. “I did find the perfect woman for me, though.”

“Hear, hear,” Jackson says, looking at Emily, who beams.

“Yes, well, be that as it may,” Mr. Sterling begins, looking stern as he addresses my brothers and me. “The future of this great company that your father started hangs in the balance. Now that each of you is married we must move to discussing who will take control. Now, if each of you would like to take the floor and lay out your reasons and qualifications for taking control, we can get started right away. Jackson, as the eldest I think it’s fine if you begin. When you’re ready.”

Jackson stands up, his full height and custom suit looming over the entire room with a presence I’d forgotten. He could always command a room, and he knew it, which was why I hated it when he tried to tell me what to do. Just because he’s the oldest, I always felt, didn’t mean he was the smartest or strongest.

“Thank you, Mr. Sterling,” he begins. “My comments will be short. I’ve discussed the matter at length with my wife, Emily, and we’re in total agreement. I don’t want it.”

  “Excuse me?” Mr. Sterling sputters.

“I don’t want control,” Jackson says frankly. “Father pushed me my entire life to be the best, and when I achieved some of that he only told me I needed to do more. The one sure thing I thought I’d always have was this company. He’d told me since I was a boy that I would take control one day. So when we all learned after his death that he wasn’t keeping his promise, I got angry. And for a while I bitterly tried to right what I perceived as a great wrong. But then I fell in love wi
th Emily. She’s helped me see that I’m more than just this company, or this family. So I respectfully take myself out of the running for the position, although I will work with whoever takes over in any way needed. I may not agree with what my father has done, but I don’t want to see the company fall apart. I’d like to keep working in my current role. So gentlemen,” he says, looking to Miles and me, “I wish you the best of luck.”

Jackson sits down, leaving us all a little stunned—but mostly Mr. Sterling.

“Well, I…this is quite unusual,” Mr. Sterling begins. “Well, then. Miles. Step up, son. Give us your pitch.”

But Miles doesn’t even rise from his chair. “Father would love nothing more than to see us all fight to the bitter end on this. He’d probably get more joy out of seeing us compete than see this company go to the next level. I realized something recently. I realized, well—Father’s dead. He doesn’t have to have a hold on me anymore. I don’t have to do what he says. I don’t have act the way he raised me—raised all of us.” Miles looks to Jackson and me. I’m sure childhood memories are flashing through their minds just as they are mine. “So I’m also declining to take part in this battle for control. I’m happy with my life. I have an intelligent, beautiful wife.” He looks over at Jordyn, who takes his hand. “And for the first time in my life, I’m truly happy.” Miles looks at me and says, “So, little brother. I guess it’s all yours, then.”

I look at Addison. As soon as our eyes lock, a feeling rushes between us and we can’t help ourselves—we break out laughing.

“Oh, no,” Jackson says. “Don’t tell me…”

I shake my head. “I don’t want it either.”

Soon we’re all laughing—everyone except the lawyers and Mr. Sterling, who find no humor in this at all.

“Come on, Rex,” Miles says to me. “We’re handing it to you! You’ll be the youngest CEO in the country.”

“Pass,” I say through laughter. “I’m with you guys. I’m done playing Father’s games. I found someone I love and respect and want to grow old with. Nothing means as much to me as Addison. She’s my partner now, and I intend to create quite a life with her.” I raise her hand to my lips and kiss her.
