“I noticed,” pausing as I took a deep breath, “and that is why we should try to stay away from them.”

“We should try, but no way.”

“Yes, Campbell. We don’t know what is going on with dad and we don’t need to draw attention to ourselves,” I said as I put my arm around her giving a slight squeeze. “Plus those types of guys only want one thing.”

  “An old lady?”

“Do they look like the old lady types?” I asked as I poked her side with my other hand.

“No,” she giggled, squirming out of my hold. “Definitely not, but one can only hope, right?”

“Yeah, I guess.” I stood up and smiled down at her. “One can only hope. Now, let’s change the subject, please.”

“Ok. So what do you want for your birthday?” quizzed Campbell. “It is tomorrow. The big two two. You are gettin’ old sister of mine.”

“Ha . . . ha . . . ha, baby sister,” I teased back as she scrunched up her nose. She hated being called baby anything. “I already told you what I want. For us to drive to the public library . . .” Letting out a cry of frustration, Campbell yelled, “You are a broken record. Fine! I will go to the stupid library and do that stupid research if you take Tank up on his offer to get your car tuned up as your b-day gift from them.”

“Number one, thank you for saying stupid and not some other foul word. And number two, I am not accepting any gifts,” I air quoted the last word, “from them. We just met them and we are not sweet butts and won’t start acting like them either.” I knew my lecture fell on deaf ears from the look on Campbell’s face.

“Come on Logan,” Campbell whined to prove my point. She got up on her knees with her hands together like she was praying. “Please, for your baby sister who has no hope of ever getting the attention of the hot bikers and has to live vicariously through her hot ass older sister getting some.”

“Oh. My. God. Campbell,” I shrieked. “If I say yes will you please stop whining and help me to finish unpacking?” Campbell nodded yes as she bounced up and down clapping her hands.

“Fine. Yes. Now move it before you lose it!” I turned to hide my smile because I wanted to go as much as she did.

“I love you. I love you. I love you. You are the best sister ever!” Campbell yelled as she ran past me up the stairs. I smacked her back side as she passed. “You better Cam. I am the only one you got!” I followed her laughter up the steps, shaking my head as I already knew there was no way we were staying away from them.
