Once I finished the bottle of Remy I lay across the couch and went to sleep. The next morning, I woke up to someone banging on our front door. I jumped up hoping it was Tahari because she never came home. I had called around and no one had heard from her. I was calling her phone over and over again but it was going to voicemail. I looked through the peephole and it was the police. I just knew they were coming to arrest my ass for something.

“Sorry to disturb you so early in the morning, sir. We’re actually looking for Tahari Kenneth’s next of kin.”

  “I’m her husband, officer.”

“We’re sorry to inform you, sir, but your wife was killed in an automobile accident early this morning. I’m sorry for your loss, sir.” My head started to spin as the officers walked away from the door. I had to sit down on the floor to keep from passing out. This shit had to be a cruel-ass joke. Lord, please, let this be a mistake.

  ******

It had been a week since Tahari’s death and I still haven’t come to grips with it. I keep telling myself that she’s going to walk in the door at any minute. We’re going to apologize to one another and make love all night. I can still smell her perfume all over the house. I haven’t been in our bedroom since her death. I can’t bring myself to look at any of her belongings. Her nightgown and underwear are still on the floor beside the bed from our previous night of love-making. I’m having a hard-ass time coming to the grips with her being dead.

Tahari was driving so fast that she lost control of her. She hit a utility pole head-on and her car exploded shortly after. The car was so badly burned that they believe her body was incinerated by the extreme heat. I can’t even look at my kids. This shit is all my fault. I could have handled things better. I never should have let her leave the house upset like that. I hate that the last words we ever spoke were filled with so much hatred. That alone fucks with my mental. In my heart, I know that I will never find another woman who will love and ride for me like Ta-Baby. It’s crazy that I can hear her voice so clear in my head. I just keep seeing her face the very first time I met her. I knew that she would be mine. Now, all a nigga got is memories and seven beautiful reminders of the love of my life.

“Ka’Jaire, the family car is outside. We need to be at the church in an hour.” My mother walked in and started to fix my tie.

“I can do it, Ma.” I felt myself getting ready to shed tears. I had to be strong for everybody else. So right now I had to hold my composure.

“It’s okay to cry, Ka’Jaire. You need to let it out, baby. She was your wife and no matter what happened, both of y’all loved each other. You can’t blame yourself for this. It’s not your fault. Trust me, baby. We’re all hurt behind this.” Why the hell did Peaches have to come in here acting all loving and comforting? The tears were coming down in buckets. Anyone who said Thugs don’t cry was a motherfucking lie.

“How the fuck am I supposed to live without her? What am I going to do?”

“That’s right, let it out, baby. Everything is going to be okay. Don’t you worry, baby. Momma got you and my grandbabies. We’ll get through this as a family.” There I was on the floor in my mother’s arms crying like a baby. She was rubbing my back and trying her best to calm me down. After a couple of minutes, I got myself together.

“Can you please put my ribbon on my hair Daddy?” Ka’Jaiyah asked, as she walked in the room.

“That doesn’t go with your dress, baby.”

“I know but it smells like Mommy. I miss Mommy. Do you miss Mommy?”

“I miss Mommy so much.” I hugged her tight and started to shed tears. Not long after, all the kids came in and they held onto me and cried. Ka’Jaire Jr. and Ka’Jairea were taking it the hardest.

“Is Mommy in Heaven?” Kash asked as Ka’Jairea pulled him on her lap and brushed his hair. She had been a big help with all the smaller kids.

“Yeah. Mommy is in heaven sleeping with the angels. Ain’t that right, Kaine?” He nodded his head and she brushed his hair.

Kaia and Kahari didn’t really understand. However, they were aware that Mommy hadn’t been home. They had been crying for her all week. Every time they asked for her, I had to go in another room so that they wouldn’t see a nigga shedding tears.

“Come on, let’s go pay our respects to Mommy.” I placed my shades on my face and we all exited our house to head over to the church. I wish I could wake up from this horrible-ass dream.

Once I arrived at the church, the huge picture of her at the front brought tears to my eyes. It was a picture of her on our wedding day. As I took my seat, I looked up at the projection screen. There were hundreds of pictures of all of us. That gorgeous smile. That beautiful face would forever be etched in my memory. As the singer sung her solo, the sounds of Keesha and the rest of the girls screaming and hollering was getting to me. Even my crew was broken up over this shit. Peaches was trying to be strong and comfort all of us. I knew at any minute she was going to breakdown. I let the singer’s beautiful voice drown all of that out. I requested the song by Smokie Norful “I Need You Now.” Because all I needed was my Ta-Baby.

Not a second or another minute

Not an hour or another day

But at this moment. With my arms outstretched

I need you to make a way.

As you have done so many times before

Through a window or an open door.

I stretch my hands to you

  Come Rescue me

  I need you right away.

  I need you nowwwwww!

  I need you nowwwww!

  I need you nowwwww!

  I need you now!

There wasn’t a dry eye in the house. That song had us all in our feelings. I couldn’t even hold my composure any more. It didn’t matter who I was to people in the streets. My fucking wife’s ashes were sitting in front of me and that shit had me all fucked up in the head. I couldn’t take it anymore. I grabbed my kids and we got the fuck out of there.

That night, I lay in bed with all my kids holding on to me for dear life. I swear I could feel Tahari. I immediately shook that thought from my mind. I had been driving myself crazy just thinking of her still being here with me. I knew that wasn’t possible. I saw her car. There was no way she made it out of that alive.

  Epilogue

For the longest I had been sitting back watching motherfuckers live the life that I deserved. I’m glad I took the Government up on that offer. That undercover Federal Agent died a gruesome-ass way. I know it had to be gruesome considering the fact the fucking body has never been found. I know you’re wondering who the hell this could be. I’m getting to that part. Be patient.

For months I’ve stalked and watched my prey. It was always so hard to get her alone. My dick got hard watching her laying niggas down. Straight motherfucking ride or die bitch. Not to mention, beautiful as ever. Her body was sexy as fuck. Five kids and not a stretch mark in sight. Sometimes, I find myself watching her as she lays in my home in a coma. She has around-the-clock care from some of the best medical staff in Atlanta. It’s a shame her family thinks she’s dead. That’s a plus for me. We get to start over fresh and new. I guess I’ve kept y’all in suspense for too long. It’s that nigga, Nico. Sorry for the wait. It’s been long overdue. But I’m back like I never left. I actually I never did. I know y’all shocked as fuck. Like hell naw. I thought they killed his bitch ass in Thug Passion: Part One. At first, I was going to leave y’all hanging until the next chapter but let me break this shit down for you real quick.

Now pay close attention because I don’t want you to miss a thing. This shit is crazy.

After breaking up with Tahari, her ass moved onto the nigga, Thug. I needed to get on with a new connect. Little did I know, Thug was the nigga with the bricks. I met up with him and his bitch-ass brother Malik to cop some. After purchasing, I headed back to my condo but I was pulled over by Detective Grimes and Detective Jones. They found the bricks in my trunk and I was arrested. A nigga was facing football nu
mbers for the amount of weight that I was carrying. It was either me or rat on the motherfucker I copped the bricks from. I was released after I signed statements. It was then that the police started to build a case against Thug. In a month or so, I would have to testify in front of a Grand Jury. During this time, I never knew that Thug had lucked up and got with my bitch, Tahari. It wasn’t until I followed her home one day after seeing her at the doctor’s office. Looking at her sexy ass made my dick got hard instantly. Her ass had upgraded tremendously. It didn’t matter that I was there with Khia and she was carrying my seed. When I saw Tahari, Khia’s ass became invisible. That was a first because I shitted on Tahari for Khia.

Detective Jones and Detective Grimes were on some other shit. Although I was more than willing to bring Thug ass down, their asses wanted me to help them along with some damn nigga named Venom. When I signed up for that shit, I had no idea he was her father until he revealed the shit to me himself. I went ahead with it because I figured with all these people gunning for Thug it would be easier to take his ass down and I would get my bitch back.

When I finally testified, the government decided it would be better for me to go into protective custody until Thug and his crew were locked up. I wasn’t with that shit. Yeah. I had snitched on Thug but I had to show face to my people, so that I wouldn’t look like a snitch to them. So, these silly motherfuckers came up with the bright idea to have someone posing as me on the streets. You would be amazed at the shit the government can do. They actually had a Federal Agent made to look like me down to the T. I even had to groom him with certain shit. The shit was so freaky. That little shit was short lived because the day the decoy was supposed to go out on the street he needed to meet up with Grimes. They didn’t know that those niggas was staking out Grimes’s ass already. They snatched both of their asses up and they’ve never been heard from since. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know what happened to them. I hopped a plane to Atlanta and never looked the fucked back. The government knew for a fact I wasn’t dead. I was done with their asses, though. Plus, I needed to get as far away from Detective Jones as I could. When I found out he had been murked, I decided to come back to the Chi. My intentions were to grab Lisette and bring her back with me but she had been murdered a year earlier. That hurt me because she had been buried in an unmarked grave because her body was never claimed.

The entire time that I was away, my son Nico Jr. was heavy on my mind. I knew that he would be almost six now. It was just my luck. That one day I decided to head to the mall and that’s when I saw Tahari, Khia and some other bitches. I couldn’t believe they were acting like they were the best of friends. A nigga had missed a lot. They had a lot of kids with them. I watched as my son played in the play area. I knew that it was him because he was the spitting image of me. I wanted to just snatch him and run with him. That changed when I heard the bitch Khia call him some damn Khiandre. I wanted to put a bullet in this bitch right in the middle of the fucking mall. I had something for that ass at a later date, though.

I couldn’t keep my eyes off of her as she strutted through the mall. She was rocking Red Bottoms and Gucci everything. I wanted her back. No, I had to have her back. So, that’s when I decided to follow her. I could never get close to her. God answered my prayers when I was following her the night of her accident. Had I not been there, Tahari would be dead for real. When I pulled her from the wreckage, I drove straight out of town to Atlanta. Once here, I rushed her to the hospital and told them she had fell and hit her head. I was informed that she would be fine. It was just up to her to wake up when she was ready. I made sure she had around-the-clock care while I’m getting this money. I came out here and came the fuck up. Money ain’t a thing to a nigga like me these days. I’m living the life I wanted back in the Chi. Now that I have my bitch back sky, is the limit. I can now give her everything she ever wanted from me. In due time she will forget all about that bitch-ass nigga Thug.

I had been sitting on the Veranda at my crib blowing some Kush just thinking about this money.

“Where am I?” The sound of her voice brought me out my thoughts. I turned around and she looked beautiful even with the weight she had lost. She had finally woke up.

“You’re at home.” I stood up and walked towards her. It was dark, so she couldn’t really see my face at first. She looked like a deer caught in headlights as my face came into view. She passed out when she realized it was me.
