“Possibly the next outbreak point?”
“It’s a possibility. There’s a huge population of vampires there,” Sara pointed out as she sat behind her computer screen typing away. “Last count by the council was over one hundred thousand.”
“How many other supernaturals?” I asked, cringing. Frankly, I didn’t want to know how quickly they could wipe out the population there.
“Over a million,” she answered without looking away from her screen.
“Shit shooters,” I said.
“Maybe not,” Ed offered, ever hopeful. “We know their next move. We know how they’re going to make it. We know the players in the game now.” He swept his gaze over the men in our little coven, then settled on me with a rather big smile. “We can win this.”
I stood, and the others rose with me, joining me in the center of the lab. When I held out a hand, they all touched some part of it. I drew strength from their contact, readying myself for the road ahead. “You’re right. They were foolish to think they could break us. We’re hunters. And we never miss, do we?”
The thrill of the chase passed through each of them. I could tell by the resoluteness in their eyes when they nodded agreement. This hunt was almost over. We’d be happy to kiss it goodbye, but we’d enjoy taking the enemy down first.
