Quinn Fenton and the Time and Space Protection Agency
Page 23
Quinn didn’t even realize it, but he was running at Agross. His gun was in his hand, rage consuming him over all emotions. He let out a scream as he ran at Agross, who simply teleported away when Quinn got close to him, looking completely bored.
Quinn spun around and fired at Agross, the blue laser beam flying, only to hit the wall as Agross teleported away. Quinn spun around in circles, hitting nothing after nothing after nothing, never hitting his target of Agross.
“Fight me!” Quinn screamed at Agross, who smiled at him in return. “Come here and fight me you coward!”
It didn’t seem possible, but Agross’ twisted grin enlarged. Despite having the ability to teleport, Agross strode up to Quinn, promising destruction and death in his wake.
“You want me to fight you?” Agross shouted. He teleported away. Quinn frantically looked around for where he would reappear. He nearly fell backwards when Agross appeared right in front of him. He kicked Quinn in the stomach, causing him to fall over. As he tried to stand he was kicked yet again and fell back down.
Agross had entered a psycho fit of rage, never letting Quinn get the upper hand. Quinn desperately tried to stand up, only to be kicked over by Agross time and time again. Agross eventually resorted to towering over a quivering Quinn who lay upon the ground, burying his foot in his stomach repetitively.
“Come on!” Agross screamed, spit flying from his mouth, spraying Quinn’s body. “Fight me! Fight me you coward! Fight me!” Agross commanded, before teleporting away. Quinn pushed himself up to his knees, breathing hard. He stood up, wiping his bleeding nose and clenching his bruised stomach. The white and blue tendrils of his gun were smeared with his own blood, the gun loosely hanging from his hand.
Just as Quinn managed to stand up, Agross teleported behind him and kicked him over. Quinn let out a cry of pain, his gun being released from his grip and spinning to the ground.
Agross screamed out, teleporting in front of Quinn, grabbing the folds of his jacket and teleporting them both against the metal wall. Quinn’s body was pressed against the wall, Agross pressing against him. Quinn’s breaths came out sharp and ragged, knowing that this was the end of him. All his energy had leaked from his body, only being able to give hate to the monster in front of him.
“This is where you die, Quinn,” Agross growled, spit spraying Quinn’s face. “Just like your pathetic little home planet.”
“You can’t kill me,” Quinn breathed out, trying to suck energy back into his body throughout the oxygen in the very air he breathed. “You don’t have a weapon.”
Once again, Quinn’s words caused Agross to laugh, yet this time it was harsher than it had been before, not hysterically like he had laughed the previous times. Agross punched Quinn once again in the stomach, causing the teenager to wince in pain, his stomach definitely bruised by now.
“See, the thing about teleportation,” Agross said, raising his free right hand that wasn’t holding Quinn up against the wall. “I can teleport my hand right through your pathetic little body,” Agross looked at his hand as if he had never seen it before. Then looked at Quinn’s chest, pointing at it with his finger. “I think your heart might do,” He threatened viciously, and Quinn felt terror run amok inside his body. He wiggled and squirmed, desperately trying to free himself from Agross’s grasp.
“But before you die, Quinn,” Agross said. “I’ve one more thing for you to know,” He leaned forward to whisper into Quinn’s ear, his own harsh breaths running against Quinn’s ear. “I-”
Quinn didn’t hear what Agross had to say, as the sadistic maniac stopped talking, moving his head away from Quinn and looking at the corridor, where voices could be heard coming forth. Suddenly, from the corridor, a group of four people, a mixture of humans and aliens, burst through, all four of them wearing white jackets. And behind them, to Quinn’s pure relief, were Laura and Morgan, both sprinting into the large room with looks of terror on their faces like Quinn had never seen before.
Agross turned to look at Quinn, his trademark grin on his face.
“Looks like your friends are here. Nice meeting you, Quinn,” Agross said before he disappeared, teleporting away from the scene. As Quinn felt the pressure of Agross’ body being removed from him, Quinn slowly fell to the floor, where he lay in a pile, completely exhausted.
“Quinn!” He heard Laura’s voice cry out in shock and horror, and he felt some life beginning to trickle through his veins. He slowly made his way to his knees and hands, where he stayed for a few moments, catching his breath. He felt Laura’s soft hands grip his left arm and Morgan’s hard, metal hand’s grab his right arm. Slowly, and with help from his friends, Quinn managed to stand up. Slowly Laura and Morgan let go of him and stepped back, yet not stepping back so far as to miss him if he fell from pain and exhaustion.
“I’m sorry,” Quinn croaked out, looking at their terrified faces. “I’m sorry, really, I am. I shouldn’t have come-” His apology was quickly cut off by a sharp slap across his face from Laura, his cheek stinging, adding just another injury to his body. Despite this, Laura hadn’t slapped him very hard.
“Alright,” Quinn said, raising his hand to massage his cheek. “I deserved that, I did,” Quinn said, staring at a now fuming Laura. Morgan stood back a little from the scene that was taking place in front of him.
“You deserved that more than anyone in this entire universe Quinn Fenton!” Laura exploded, her face set in rage and Quinn knew very well that he was not to talk now. “Did you have any idea how worried we’d be? We woke up and you were gone! Then we went outside to find ourselves at Agross’ base! You nearly died! If this lot hadn’t arrived, you’d be dead Quinn!” Laura cried out, gesturing to the group of people wearing white jackets, who were standing behind her.
Before he could utter another word of apology, Laura suddenly pressed her lips against his, having to extend her body as Quinn had the height advantage on her. Quinn was startled only for a split second, before he kissed her back, the two wrapping their arms around each other.
When they broke apart, they stared at each other for a moment before Quinn and Laura both laughed softly, Laura muttering, “Idiot,” under her breath.
After a few moments like this, Quinn looked up over Laura’s head and made eye contact with Morgan, who was watching his two friends with an amused smile on his face.
Quinn slowly detached himself from Laura, who made no objection whatsoever, knowing what he was going to do. Quinn took a step towards Morgan, who had his arms crossed over his chest, the substance between his metal plates glowing blue as always.
“You’re an idiot,” Morgan said, and Quinn couldn’t help but smile lightly, nodding his head in complete agreement.
“Yeah, I know, I know,” Quinn replied. “I’m sorry. I know I said it before, but I really, really am. You’ve always been right, and I don’t know why I didn’t listen to you. You’ve helped me get this far, always looking out for me no matter what, going along with most of my crazy stupid ideas,” Quinn said, smiling, before sighing and looking down at the floor, then returning his gaze to Morgan whom had dropped his arms and was smiling.
“Thank you, Quinn,” Morgan said. “For giving me a reason to care.”
Laura came up next to the two, smiling at them.
“You two are such idiots,” Laura said and Quinn and Morgan both smiled at her, before smiling back at each other. Laura extended one arm around Quinn and the other around Morgan, pulling them together and they, in turn, wrapped their arms around each other, the three friends standing there in the aftermath of the fight, wrapped in each other’s arms.
The three eventually moved away from each other, each of them breaking the hug. Quinn turned his gaze to the four people standing in white buttoned-up jackets. All four of them were watching Quinn, Laura and Morgan reunite.
“Who are those people?” Quinn whispered, not taking his gaze off the group. Laura and Morgan looked at each other, smiling in anticipation. Quinn looked back at them ju
st in time to catch their gaze. “What?” He asked, completely bamboozled as to why they were smiling like they were.
“We forgot to tell you in the whole makeup business and the yelling and the kissing,” Laura said, and Quinn bowed his head, laughing a little, before looking back at Laura, who smiled at him in return.
“Are you going to tell him?” Morgan asked, once again watching them in complete amusement. Quinn and Laura both jumped slightly as they re-entered reality.
“Right, yes,” Laura said, brushing her red hair behind her ear. “Quinn, these people are from T.A.S.P.A.”
THE TIME AND SPACE PROTECTION AGENCY
“What?” Quinn asked, turning to Laura with wide eyes. “Your joking!” He looked at Morgan, who nodded, confirming what Laura had said. Quinn moved away from Laura and Morgan, disengaging himself from their arms. He ran a hand through his hair and let out a small laugh. He looked at his friends in disbelief, before turning to the T.A.S.P.A members. He felt completely re-energized now that he had reunited with Morgan and Laura, kissed Laura and found T.A.S.P.A.
“You’re from the Time and Space Protection Agency?” Quinn asked the four people in white jackets. One of them was a human with long black hair. Another was large and bald with muscles that budged even underneath his white jacket. Another was short, with claws instead of hands and the final alien was tall and slim, with hair that stuck up of its own accord and more fingers than Quinn could count.
“Yes,” The woman with black hair replied. Quinn noticed that the jackets had golden buttons and a golden badge attached. “I’m Emily, and I’m the leader of this Unit. What’s your name?” Emily asked, Quinn guessing she was in her mid-thirties.
“Quinn Fenton,” Quinn replied, his heart thumping with excitement. “Oh man, this is awesome!” Quinn said, throwing his hands up into the air. “I’ve been looking for you for months, and now when I find Agross, I find you guys too!” Quinn gestured to the group with his hands, simply lost for words. “I guess you already know these two,” Quinn gestured back to Laura and Morgan, who were both behind him.
“Yes, we found your ship upon flying here and discovered Laura and Morgan were inside it,” Emily explained, nodding to the two behind Quinn. “Agross opened up one of the Time Watches, didn’t he?” Emily asked gravely, and Quinn’s excitement drained out of him as he was reminded of Agross’ master plan.
“Yes,” Quinn responded, nodding. “He used it to show me what he was doing. He told me his entire plan, destroying the universe and rewriting it as he sees fit, as well as everything else,” Quinn said, nodding. Emily looked at Quinn, considering.
“You’re stupid but brave, I’ll say that. Why’d you come in here anyway? Your friends say they told you not to, but you did anyway,” Emily inquired, causing Quinn to shake his head and look at the floor for a moment, before looking up at Emily.
“He killed my family,” Quinn said, and Emily’s face showed that she was sorry, but like it wasn’t an uncommon occurrence. “He destroyed my planet, he took everything away from me,” Quinn said, shaking his head, not knowing why but refraining from mentioning he was from the future. “That’s why I came here. I found the information when I took down one of the pirate ships and decoded it before coming here. It’s been my mission to find Agross and join you guys.”
Emily, however, seemed to have stopped listening after Quinn mentioned he took down a band of pirates.
“You took down an entire pirate’s ship? Only the three of you?” Emily asked, gesturing to the Quinn, Laura and Morgan. The admiration in her voice was very clear.
“No, it was just me. Laura wasn’t traveling with us yet and Morgan was… different then,” Quinn responded, trying to sound as modest as he possibly could. But when talking about taking down an entire band of pirates, there wasn’t much room to be modest in the slightest.
Emily looked away from Quinn and turned around to talk to her Unit in a huddled position. Quinn, Laura and Morgan simply stood there for a few moments whilst they talked, feeling awkward like they were intruding on something very private. Eventually, Emily disbanded the group huddle and walked over to Quinn.
“We’ve decided that if you would like to, we will take you to T.A.S.P.A for consideration to join the agency,” Emily said, and Quinn’s head nearly exploded with gratitude and disbelief.
“Seriously?” Quinn asked, not sure if he was to believe his ears. He widened his eyes as Emily repeated that himself, Laura and Morgan would all be off to T.A.S.P.A. “Thank you so much,” Quinn said, shaking Emily’s hand firmly, before shaking the hands of the other members of the Unit, finding it somewhat difficult to shake the hand of the claw-handed guy.
“First though,” Emily said. “We need to get you back to the medic. She’s off in the hangar. We’ve got a whole bunch of Units here because once we realised that this was Agross’s base we called in as much backup as we could.”
“So, the prisoners, are you freeing them?” Quinn asked in hope.
“Yes, we’ve got a Unit freeing the prisoners, they’re just waiting for one of our bigger ships to arrive so that we can transport them all back to their respective homes,” Emily replied, before setting off down the corridor, gesturing for Quinn, Laura and Morgan to follow her through. Before Quinn went through, he picked up his gun that was on the floor, wiping it on his t-shirt to clean his own blood off it.
The three friends followed the four members of T.A.S.P.A through the corridor. To Quinn’s surprise, they found that they ran into no one on their way out, which struck him as odd since the entire base should be swarming with henchmen trying to capture the seven of them.
“Where're Agross’ henchmen?” Quinn asked, completely bamboozled, looking around still as he tried to find them. He held his gun in his hand in case of an attack. He noticed Laura held her gun in her hand too, whilst Morgan held a gun that Quinn had never seen before. It had most likely been given to him by the T.A.S.P.A agents.
“We arrested most of them,” Emily replied, not looking back but continuing to walk on. “As for the rest, I don’t know. We’ve got several Units searching the base, but from our guess, this isn’t his core base. If it was he wouldn’t have retreated.”
“So, he’s got some other huge base somewhere else in the universe?” Quinn asked, a slight damper being put on his spirits. He thought that he had rendered Agross baseless.
“Oh, of course,” Emily replied like Quinn had just said the most obvious thing in the universe. “He’s got multiple, but thanks to you we can now tick one off the list that we’ve found,” This slightly raised Quinn’s spirits again.
The seven walked through the corridors back to the hangar. It was still the same as how Quinn had found it upon his first visit, with some minor changes. The pirate ship was still there, yet all of the pirates were now being arrested and dragged into ships. The ships were obviously T.A.S.P.A’s. They were large and white with a window in the front. The main ship was a torpedo shape, with a large thruster behind it that made a ‘C’ shape. The cave of the c looking like it was about to eat the torpedo-shaped part of the ship. The ship was supported by stands that had obviously come down for landing. It had nothing on the Audion when it came to the size department, this ship looking like it could only seat ten or so people.
“That’s the standard T.A.S.P.A ship,” Emily pointed out, noticing Quinn, Laura and Morgan were staring. “Every Unit gets one unless someone in the Unit has their own which meets the requirements of the agency. Of course, we must add some parts, but people who have their own ships and join T.A.S.P.A usually have decent ships,” Quinn’s stomach swelled at the prospect of still being allowed to use his faithful Audion if he was accepted into T.A.S.P.A. Quinn was led over to a middle-aged female human who had a medical kit next to her. She sat on a bench wearing the seemingly standard T.A.S.P.A uniform of the white jacket.
“Here he is Catrina,” Emily said, taking Quinn over to her. She looked up at Quinn and winced.
“That’s w
hat you get for fighting Agross,” Catrina said, and Emily laughed lightly at the comment.
“You’re in good hands. Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’ll be off to get ready to leave here,” Emily said, before her and the three other members of her Unit walked off towards the other side of the hangar.
Quinn sat down next to Catrina, Laura sitting next to him and Morgan standing in front, both making audible noises as Quinn’s injuries were revealed. She fixed his blood nose up rather quickly, cleaning his bloody face off. She cleaned the several cuts upon his arms, sterilising them before putting a bandage on each wound. She got him to take his jumper off and roll his shirt up, where she, Laura and Morgan all winced at the sight of Quinn’s bruised stomach from Agross’s assault.
“That bastard,” Laura muttered under her breath.
Once Quinn was completely patched up, himself, Laura and Morgan were taken to the Audion which Morgan had flown into the hangar during T.A.S.P.A’s attack on Agross’ base. Quinn went up to the ship and scanned his finger on the metal plate, which authorised him and began the descent of the cargo room door.
Quinn entered his home, smiling to himself, happy to be back after such an ordeal.
The three ascended the staircase and entered the cockpit, which looked the same as ever. Quinn sighed in relief and ran a hand through his hair before leaning against the back of his Captain’s chair.
“I can’t believe we found them,” Quinn said, still in shock and disbelief. “I found Agross and T.A.S.P.A both in the same day,” Quinn nearly laughed. He would have if he still wasn’t haunted by Agross’s diabolical master plan.
“Well, we only found T.A.S.P.A because someone is an idiot,” Laura teased. Quinn stood up straight and walked over to Laura, wrapped his arms around her.
