Hott and Taken (The Hott Brothers Book 1)
Page 24
The only thing we kept from the old place was the timber slab over the fireplace and the rusty screen door. Makena didn’t want to replace it, telling me it reminded her of her mum, that when it squeaked open, she and Mal knew their mum was on her way to call them to dinner or they were in trouble. Another thing we kept of her mother’s was the fifty acres. Three days after the accident, I visited the Hayden’s thanked them but withdrew the offer to sell them the paddock. I admit it was mainly due to my jealousy over their son Cameron; I made no bones that I didn’t like the guy. I found out from Mal he had been sniffing around Makena for a few years now, not that I didn’t already notice he had a hard-on for my wife, so I nipped that in the bud right there and then. Plus, the land belonged to Makena and Mallory. Their mum kept it for all those years for a reason, and with help from my brothers and the Triple H, the farm was well on its way to making good money for the first time since Makena’s grandfather ran the place.
Whatever Makena wanted Makena got, the fifty stayed, and so the rusty, noisy door stayed.
“Hey, is he gone?” Makena loud whispered from the porch.
“Yes, he is, baby, you have way too much fun riling Drixx up. You are making him terrified of pregnant women, you know,” I said to her, placing the book face down on the table beside me and looked up at her. My heart in my throat as I watched her skip down the three steps and towards me.
“Serve him right for eating my last marshmallow,” she grumbled, coming to me and plopping herself down on my lap. One arm wrapping around my neck, the other on our daughter.
“Made it safe, honey, don’t worry,” she whispered against my lips, knowing where my mind drifted.
“I will always worry, baby, get used to it,” I told her the same thing I did whenever she told me off.
“I am,” she quipped, snuggling her head in the crook of my neck.
“So, what is she up to today?” she asked, pointing to the book open on the table.
Holding my world tight in my arms, happy in the knowledge that my son was safe with Fenixx checking on the bulls, I pressed a kiss to Makena’s soft hair.
“Well, she can hear everything now, she can see light, and she’s roughly the size of a ruler.” I told my wife snuggling my face into her soft neck, inhaling her scent after being away from her for an hour. An hour too long if you asked me.
Makena hummed happily as I went on and told her about the progress of our baby safe in her mother.
“You know,” Makena interrupted, sitting up and giving me her trademark dimpled smile.
“I bet Fenixx and Daxx won’t be back for another hour or so, wanna get some sexy time in?” she asked, though she didn’t need to. A pregnant Makena was a horny Makena, my cock had never been so happy or sore in his life. Not that I was complaining; seeing to my wife’s every need was why I was put on this earth.
“Hell yes, I do,” I answered, easily standing with her in my arms. Makena was all belly, and you could only tell she was pregnant from the front … oh but her arse was slightly more generous, as were her perfect tits.
“I think I should ride you cowgirl style, my belly is getting way too big for anything else,” Makena mused cheekily, knowing she had my measure.
Feeling my dick press against the zipper of my jeans immediately, yeah, she knew she had me. Totally and completely taken.
Looking down at my wife, I kissed her lips softly, then smiled.
“Whatever gets the job done, baby.
THE END
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
Well, the first cowboy is done. I hope you enjoyed the start of my new series, to be truthful, I am a bit nervous that people are expecting chaps, chewin’ tobacco and rattlesnakes. Aussie cowboys are slightly different, and this is my take, so I hope I haven’t disappointed.
Lenoxx and Makena came to me a little while back; actually, it was more like thirty years ago. See, under my bed is a bunch of handwritten manuscripts, and this was one of them. Now, I changed about 99%, but the premise of the original is still there.
So many people to thank, and I always leave out someone, but I did just finish writing over eighty thousand words, so please forgive me.
Thank you Dustyn for another perfect cover, and to Christy Van Elsen for another perfect shoot.
Belinda Donaldson, Pirate what would I do if you didn’t annoy me constantly every day? Hmmm, I wonder what that would look like? Seriously though, thank you for getting me more or less on track. You can only do so much with what you have to work with, so thank you.
My Betas; Pirate, Amanda and Sara, as always, I value your opinions.
My editor, Robyn, yes, I am stubborn and fight you every second turn, but you know where I am going with my characters and keep me on the right path.
My amazing Flockers, nothing makes me smile more than going into the Flock and seeing all the fun being had in there. You are a crackin’ bunch of chicks.
Lila Rose, this isolation has put a damper on our outings. I can’t wait for Subway night!
To my four Angels, my daughters and my granddaughter Memphis. I haven’t seen you all that much in the last few months, but our FaceTime has been great! Watching Memphis zooming around the house getting all sassy, makes my heart swell. I love you all to the moon and back.
To my bestie, Steve, aka Handsome, thank you for helping with Marty’s car, and for generally just being there when I need a shoulder or a coffee. Yes, I did steal some sayings from you for this book too, but what can you do? Stop being funny and I won’t do it.
Now Hendrixx and Rafe are arguing about who is up next. Who will it be …. a Son or a Hott triplet???

***ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Leah Sharelle loves the idea of being in love. Since her early teens, when she first discovered Silhouette Desire novels, her life has been all about reading. She would find herself rewriting scenes if she wasn’t happy with them and then would hide them under her bed. That led her to writing love stories of her own. They all ended up under her bed and are still there— where she says they will stay.
Leah is a mum of three beautiful girls, living in Australia, and she has what most say is a weird sense of humour. She spends her free time doing movies, Sons of Anarchy, and Friends marathons. And reading. She doesn’t do angst. In fact, it drives her crazy. She loves Pina Coladas and getting caught in the rain. There’s that weird humour.
