Diamond B!tch Page 10

by Michelle Brown

It’s already near lunchtime in South Africa so I call the man I have been in contact with to see when I can expect our shipment to come in. Nico walks into my office as if he owns it, taking a seat directly in front of me. Finishing my call, I wait to see what Nico wants.

“Where do you want to get married? When Princesa? I want to be married already, but the decision is yours.”

Walking over to him, I sit on the edge of the desk, “Today works for me.”

Grinning, Nico stands grabbing my hand and pulling me upstairs to my room…our room. “Shower while I make calls. We will be married in hours.”

Giggling to myself, I scrub my body clean as fast as I can. I do own a simple white sundress. I wanted color once Carlos was out of my life and I splurged on clothes in every color. Once you don’t wear clothes for so long, it tends to mess with you. Putting the dress on, I fumble for the zipper until I feel his hands on my shoulders. Nico places a gentle kiss on my spine as he pulls the zipper up.

“Come on Princesa before we never make it. I have a surprise for you,” he tells me, picking me up and carrying to the waiting car outside.

I can tell we are heading towards the beach, but Nico said we were getting married. I don’t put it together until he parks, and I see the sheer fabric of the altar. I can’t believe he planned this all in the time it took me to shower. There are just a few chairs tied with more sheer fabric catching the sun’s rays causing them to seem as if they are covered in tiny diamonds. Coughing pulls me from the wonder in front of me. Roman is dressed in slacks and the first color I have ever seen on him, a purple so light that it looks white, my favorite color.

Nico kisses me on the cheek as he walks towards the man standing at the altar as the other seats begin to fill with my family. I never expected to have them here, but it makes this moment all the perfect one.

“Amalia, I understand if you don’t want to, but I would like to walk you down the aisle. You were more of a daughter to me then you will ever know,” Roman mutters.

Grinning like crazy, I grab onto his arm and let him lead me down to Nico. The ceremony passes in a blur of words until Nico begins to speak. “Princesa, Amalia, I don’t deserve you. I have never been a good man until I met you. I’m sorry I couldn’t be your knight long before this, but now I am your dragon slayer. I love you.”

I didn’t write any vows, but Nico doesn’t seem to mind when I pull him to me, capturing his lips with mine. I can hear the catcalls of our family, but I don’t care. Fuck them, I’m married to the man I love.

  Epilogue

  Two years later…

Pregnant. I’m pregnant again. Our first baby didn’t make it, I had a miscarriage just shy of three months. I cried for days, but Nico was there beside me through it all. I never knew how much I wanted to have children until that moment when it was ripped from my grasp.

I want to tell Nico, but I’m not sure how he will handle losing another if I have a miscarriage again. Who am I kidding? Nico probably already knows. He always has someone with me when he can’t be. He hasn’t told me, but I have seen Bennett in the oddest places, and it’s the only explanation. I’ll tell him at dinner, I decide.

Looking at my watch, I see that I only have a few minutes before Nico will be home to pick me up. He had a job to do last minute, which caused us to almost miss our anniversary. Nico is good about being home more than not. He even goes on business trips with me as my husband and bodyguard.

“Princesa, are you ready to leave?” Nico questions walking into the bathroom.

I look up at him from my spot on the floor next to the toilet. His eyes have yet to leave the stick in my hand, “I’m pregnant.”

A huge grin overtakes his face, dropping to his knees, Nico whispers, “Pregnant,” over and over again as he places his hand on my still flat stomach.

  Acknowledgements

Thank you to my husband. He suffered this daily while I was writing this story. I lived and breathed Amaila. He’s the real MVP.

Thank you to my betas for this project: Alicia, Geynar, Isobel, Renee, and Kassy. These ladies were with me longer than anyone should have been. I can’t thank these ladies enough for putting up with my need to stop mid-chapter for days.

Thank you to Dani for indulging me with my demands. I won’t list those out, but yeah I was not above begging.

To Erika and Amy, these two are the reason for Amalia’s character. I don’t think I would have ever published one book let alone three without these ladies.

To my editor, thank you for reading this and stopping my need to use the word “though” every five seconds.

To Ena, (Enticing Journeys) you are my hero. Thank you for everything you have done for me.

Thank you to the bloggers and readers who make this worth it.
