’Oh, Liv, how could you think that?’

’You did,’ she reminded him softly. ‘Which reminds me, you haven’t told me how you feel.’

’Me?’ Conor was bemused. ‘It seems like a dream.’ He shook his head. ‘If you’re happy, I’m happy.’ And then, ‘But do you mind? About giving up your work, I mean?’

’I’m—ecstatic,’ she told him honestly. ‘As far as my work is concerned, I think I deserve a break. About five years’ break, at least,’ she dimpled becomingly. ‘Or longer, depending on the size of our family.’

  ’Liv—–’

’But now I think we should get some sleep,’ she said firmly. ‘It’s going to be morning soon. And you need some rest.’

Conor grinned. ‘Oh, it’s a long time until morning,’ he assured her huskily. ‘But I like the way you said we should get some sleep. At last I’ve got you where you belong: in my bed!’
