The Billionaire's Baby 1: A Single Dad Romance

Page 5

by Lila Bella

There was nothing professional about what we were doing. If it had been strictly business, I would have taken my chances with the cute little waitress at the Tic-Toc.

But why would I do that when I had someone like Hollie waiting at home?

Once I was dressed and ready for work, I started downstairs and could smell breakfast before I ever made it into the kitchen. I could hear Hollie and Kaylee in the kitchen.

I didn’t know what my baby was saying, but she was certainly making lots of noises, and Hollie was responding as if she understood every ‘word.’

“Hey, why didn’t you get the cook to handle that?” When I walked into the kitchen, I found the nanny cooking breakfast.

“I wanted to cook, and he’s not here.”

I realized that I forgot to tell him to get on breakfast duty anyway. Oh well, it didn’t hurt either of us to prepare our own food. I kissed my daughter on the head as I walked by, but stopped myself before walking over to the stove.

I stood by the counter, keeping a comfortable distance from Hollie. I didn’t feel that what I needed to say would have sounded as genuine if I had been up against her, rubbing on her and kissing her neck.

Besides, I wasn’t exactly sure how to do what I was about to do because honestly, I didn’t apologize often.

“Hey listen, I’m sorry about yesterday afternoon, and about last night.”

“You have nothing to apologize for, from last night, anyway.” She glanced over her shoulder with raised eyebrows and looked me up and down.

“I didn’t mean like that,” I chuckled, flattered that she’d enjoyed herself.

“I know, but I also understand. You’re not used to having someone else here anymore, and you aren’t sure how to handle it. I’m not used to living with my employer, so there are some things I need to get used to as well.”

She shrugged as she plated breakfast—scrambled eggs with bacon and toast, plus she’d put onions and peppers in the eggs. She handed me my plate since I was standing near her, and we walked over to the table together. I could get used to having breakfast together every day.

We started eating in silence, dropping the conversation about the fight and the drunken sex from yesterday. She didn’t seem eager to pick it back up, but I wasn’t sure I could let it go. My apology seemed incomplete.

“I’m really sorry I blew up about your friend yesterday. I’d like to meet her sometime, you know, so I know who’s going to be around Kaylee with you.”

“Really? Breakfast is that good, huh?” She winked, trying to sound like a smartass, but I could see the genuine smile starting to spread across her face.

“It’s not half bad. But that’s not all. I’m going to lift the restriction on you going out. Do me a favor, though. No more surprises like yesterday, okay? Can you meet me halfway here?”

She nodded. “Got it. I can do that… and thank you. Kaylee really needs to get out of the house and spend more time out and about.”

I nodded, letting her have her moment, though I didn’t necessarily agree that it was a need. But I didn’t feel that it was necessarily a bad thing either.

As I finished breakfast, I poured a cup of coffee, not ready to head into work just yet. I wanted to sit and spend a little more time with the girls before heading out the door, and wanted to make sure we were on the same page.

“If you need to go, go ahead. We’re fine. Everything here is fine. If we decide to do anything, I’ll let you know first, okay? And no surprises… I promise.” It was as if she had read my mind.

“Let me drink my coffee first.” I didn’t want to admit that the Scotch still had a lingering effect, and I needed the coffee on top of the breakfast to help settle everything down.

“Fair enough.” She shot me a look that told me she already knew why I needed to take my time with the coffee.

I watched her finish eating and sit with Kaylee while I drank my coffee. She was still warming up to her. I wondered if she’d ever spent much time with a younger child before.

She seemed to be doing a better job than I was, though, and that was what was really important at the end of the day.

“Alright, I’ll be home in time for dinner. Call me if you need anything.”

Getting up, I left my cup by the coffee pot. I put on my jacket and adjusted my tie, then kissed my daughter on the head again and kissed Hollie on the cheek.

Then I was out the door and on my way to work. I was running behind, but thankfully, I didn’t work by the hour, and I was the boss after all.

I hurried, but I didn’t allow myself to feel rushed. There was no point in that, and I hadn’t missed any meetings or clients. Apparently I had missed a few phone calls, however.

“Mr. Black, there are several messages for you on your desk, and there’s a call waiting on line three for you,” my secretary said as I walked into my office.

  “Waiting now?” I asked her.

“Yes, sir.” She got up and followed me into the office.

“Tell them I’ll call them back once I’m in.” I was in, but if I had a stack of messages on my desk, it was going to be a few minutes before I was ready to take an incoming call.

“I tried that, sir, but she said she’d hold.”

“She?” I cocked an eyebrow. I pulled out my cell phone and looked to see if I had missed any calls from Hollie or any of my staff at the house. No missed calls.

“She wouldn’t say who she was, just that it was of dire importance.”

I checked my watch, as if my phone didn’t have a clock on the screen. Drumming my fingers on the table, I had a bad feeling.

Something felt wrong about the whole thing, very wrong. I debated telling her to get back on the phone and tell the caller I wasn’t coming in.

“That’s all. Thanks. I’ll do something about the caller.”

She nodded and left my office, closing the door behind her as she went. I looked down at the phone, at the light blinking on the line that was on hold. Somehow I knew I didn’t want to answer it.

Anyone who would call and sit on hold for me this early in the morning probably didn’t want anything good. If it was a legit call, they would call me back. They always did.

The light went off while I watched, and I sat down, relieved. I grabbed the messages left on the desk for me. Most were rescheduled appointments, and changes to lunch dates and dinners.

One was an invitation to a charity event. It sounded like a pretty good night actually. I went to it every year, so there was no need for an invitation, just a reminder of when and where.

I logged into my computer and saw that my calendar was already updated with the new dates and the charity. I was going to have to get someone to watch Kaylee that night.

Rebecca would be able to do it, I thought, as long as I gave her enough notice. I figured Hollie might enjoy going to a large event with me, something to get her out of the house and give her a break.

She was the nanny, but I was sure even nannies needed breaks from time to time.

The phone rang again, and my blood froze. My secretary answered it, and I waited in silence for what I knew she was going to say. She buzzed through to my phone.

  “Yeah.”

“It’s that same woman again. I told her I needed to check to see if you were in yet. Do you want to take the call?”

No, I didn’t want to take the call, but I was in, and I’d had some time to get my bearings. It was best to go ahead and get any nonsense out of the way first thing in the morning, I thought, so we could spend the rest of the day recovering and making the best of it.

I took a deep breath to calm myself and prepare for whatever tongue-lashing I was about to receive. A rule of thumb I had come to believe in was that typically calls that came in first thing in the morning were generally always angry.

  “Yeah, patch her through.”

“Here she is.” The line clicked, and I could hear a change in the background noise.

“This is Jude Black,” I introd
uced myself.

  “Jude.”

It was her. Not only was my blood ice, but suddenly my heart and my stomach were as well.

My insides froze, but it was a sickly kind of cold, as if the temperature itself was turning my stomach. I felt like I was going to throw up if I tried to speak, but I couldn’t stop myself from spitting out her name.

  “Marie. Where are you?”

“Don’t worry about where I am, Jude. You don’t have to worry about that anymore.” Her voice was as cold as the blood in my veins.

“I haven’t spoken to you in at least a month. Why are you calling me now?”

I realized it probably wasn’t the best approach because I sounded confrontational, but she’d left without a word, vanished without a trace. She couldn’t expect to just call out of the blue and not catch at least some flak for it.

She didn’t address my words or the fact that she’d left without a word. She didn’t mention what she’d been doing in the meantime, either.

Instead, she answered me directly, telling me why she was calling, but I hadn’t expected what she finally said to me.

“Jude, I’m calling because I want our daughter.”

She slips her fingers inside her panties and makes a few quick circles. My eyes drift closed. I can just imagine how wet it is in there.

My cock throbs between my legs, but I don’t dare reach down to tug my balls. Brynn doesn’t notice. He keeps his whole attention on her, but I can see his crotch bulging in his lap.

“That’s it, baby. That’s the way you make yourself feel good.”

She doesn’t respond. Her fingers circle faster over her pussy inside her panties.

“Do you want something inside you, baby? Do you want me cock, baby?”

Her lips form the words, Oh, yes, but no sound comes out of her mouth. She’s breathing too fast and short. In response to his suggestion, she moves her other hand closer. Her fingers dart inside, and she plunges two fingers into her steaming slit.

Faster than thought, she starts beating her fingers in and out of her box while her other hand circles her clit. Her cunt makes sucking noises around her fingers, and they squelch in her sweet juice when she bangs them against her tender flesh.

Faster and faster, she bangs herself. Faster she pants. Her wheezing breath rakes out in little squeaks, but she doesn’t slow down or stop. She works harder, both hands going at once, until her voice rises to short shrieks.

All of a sudden, she hurtles herself back on the couch. She tosses to and fro with every muscle strained to the limit. She screams out loud and falls into a panting sweaty heap.

The room wasn’t very full, so I led him up toward the middle, my favorite place to sit. It made the music better, and the screen seemed wide enough without being too big or too far away.

I walked about halfway down the row and sat, placing my popcorn in my lap and the water in the cup holder.

“I’ve read a lot of positive reviews about this one,” he said when he sat down next to me. “But, let me warn you, it’s supposed to be steamy.”

“I can do steamy.” Oh, God, I’m sitting in a theater with my teacher, about to watch a steamy love story. I couldn’t believe it was happening, especially after our last meeting in his room.

“Good, because I know a lot of people feel awkward with explicit sex in movies. You know, when it’s not incidental. This isn’t supposed to be the kind of sex used to push the plot along. It’s real. It comprises major points in the plot, where the characters connect.”

I took a piece of popcorn and placed it against his lips, forcing him to stop playing the part of film critic and eat it. I giggled as his lips opened to take the food in, sliding against my finger.

I grabbed another piece and did the same thing again. He held a piece in front of me, but as I reached for it, he pulled it away, popping into his own mouth. I giggled and bit my lip.

It had to be a dream, I told myself. There was no way this was really happening, but as the lights lowered, I didn’t wake up in my bed—or his, for that matter, considering the way things were going.

We sat with our popcorn in our laps and our drinks in the cup holders on opposite sides. I reached over with my left hand and gently ran my fingers across his hand.

After being playful with each other, I figured it was worth a shot to see how far we could go, to see if he was ready for me to be more than his student at school. I wanted to know everything he had to teach me.

But he pulled his hand back and sighed. He wasn’t ready yet. I’d gone too far...

  1 - Jax

The night hadn’t gone anything like I’d hoped.

Mia, my blonde bombshell of a date, snuggled into the passenger seat of my Rolls Royce, and immediately began talking about herself. Apparently, she was her favorite subject.

I pulled into the drive and just sat there. Forced to wait for the valet to come retrieve the key to park my car. I owned the entire building, for fuck’s sake. I wasn’t in the mood to wait.

I lived in the top-floor penthouse and collected rent from all the tenants living below. It worked out. I provided luxurious condos and in return received needed assets to invest in.

Plus, the building was a steal that I simply couldn’t pass up.

“Wow, is this your place?” she asked, looking up at the tall building. “I love it. Sleek and modern, just the way I like,” she gushed, a large smile on her pretty face.

It should have caused me to smile, but I was beyond finding anything in common with her. A good fast fuck and I would kick her out… if Asa, the babysitter, agreed to stay an extra hour or so.

I frowned. Asa had a sense of entitlement where I was concerned, although it was rather unfounded.

One night of fucking and she had dibs on me, or so she thought. Having her stay while I fucked blondie might be awkward, but it might be a good lesson. Let her know that she had zero reins on me.

“It is. Get out and let’s go wrap up this night properly.” I motioned for her to eject her talkative ass from the Rolls as the bellhop walked toward us.

She continued to talk again as we walked to the entrance and I nodded toward Henry. I slipped my hand into hers and pulled her against me before entering the lobby.

Pressing my finger to her lips, I glanced down at her, hooding my gaze and giving her a sharp warning as we approached the elevator.
