The Sanatorium of Murcia

Page 14

by Claudio Hernández

He geared the first, and after skidding over the gravel and the indelible leaves, he went for help.

Then Carlos saw the orange sun coming out from behind the mountains, just as he had hidden the night before. The sky looked similar. Black clouds next to the reddish light of that dawn. But soon those black clouds would dissipate, and the first rays of the sun would lick every corner of Espuña Mountains and the Sanatorium.

Carlos had lost an eye and had stopped bleeding once more.

He lows his head and looks at the floor.

There was the piece of the eye with its optic nerve, abandoned in the sandy earth, while a slight breeze had risen and formed small clouds of dust.

And he raised his head again to watch the sunrise.

Although I knew that everything was ahead, then an icy hand landed on his right shoulder.

  Carlos did not turn around.

He had been waiting for her for a long time.

He remembered her as she was, at only seventeen, with the black dress and the veil covering her face.

Her rotten face that had eaten leprosy.

They had known each other since they were eight and at fifteen they made love for the first time.

  - "Hi, honey," -said a soft voice.

Carlos put his hand on hers. It was bulging and icy, but it did not matter.

  - "I was waiting for you," -he said.

Then she kissed the neck with fragility. A slimy tongue challenged Carlos's hairy skin.

  - "We're together now," -the soft voice whispered.

  It was her.

  The lady in black.

And together they saw the sunrise.

  THE END

  Epilogue

At present, in 2017, the sanatorium is still very frequented by parapsychologists, and there are dozens of supposed electronic voice phenomenon registered within the Sanatorium. Of course, there is the door that separates the two floors. What nobody denies even today, is that the Sanatorium condensed for decades the agony of all the souls of those who had been abandoned and the former dead. And there are so many sad stories that made it the cemetery hall. Of horror. Of Fright. And perhaps there are still echoes of those tragedies among its walls.

What they do not agree on is the lady in black. She goes out at night, and some see her in black while others think she sees her dressed in white as if she were wearing a robe up to her ankles.

But shadows can be seen even from the road when they peek through the empty sockets of the Sanatorium wall. They are faces without evident features and speak. They always talk.

  The house of Bonmati

The body destroyed, but the souls remain in the places where there is death. And they drive you crazy. The family composed of Pedro, Antonia and their children Juan and Pili, was about to be the new tenant of the Masía de Bonmati. Mr Valentí, together with his sister Ángels, the only ones left alive, propose to the new tenants a good deal: if they keep the house and the forests that surround it in order, they can live in it without paying any rent. The home of Bonmati has a history of more than one hundred years that, little by little, will be shelling Valentí, like petals in the air. But he does not tell them the whole truth. From the beginning, Pili is the one who sees faces and silhouettes everywhere, but nobody believes her. Pili is the apple of Pedro's eyes, and Juan is the perfect son of Antonia, a marriage that begins to break. But things do not take long to change. Noises and apparitions happen almost daily, and now Juan also sees them and strange things happen. After visiting room six, Juan is marked to see that weird woman who tells him that if he kisses her, he will be out of danger. Little by little, the voices whisper inside the mind of Pedro and the madness appears in his eyes until the storm is unleashed towards a tragic end.

Synopsis of The Beginnings of Stephen King

The writer of Maine, as many call him, was predestined to be the best horror writer in history. This is demonstrated by his literary career. Despite having to endure hundreds of rejections of his first stories and novels, fate was written: finally, the nail that supported the rejection letters fell to the ground.

Stephen King began writing at the young age of eight, and would publish at the beginning and his first stories. He was read by the kids at his school. It was not easy to get to the publication of "Carrie", a novel with which he began his professional career. Previously he subsisted with many and varied works and the checks that he received from his stories. Death and fear have always been at his side since he dug pits at the local cemetery in his teens, as his first paid job. His tenacity and perseverance made him be recognized as the "King", a tribute to his surname "King" that came to him that was not painted.

Here you will discover his beginnings: from his great-grandparents, grandparents, his parents, poverty, the box of manuscripts of his father, his first stories. The time he does not want to remember from the institute, the university, his early novels, his work as a professor of English language, his alter ego, his problems ... and finally his success among the masses. This is a study of his first stage, the purest of Stephen King, which marked us all and for which we call him the king of terror.

One day his finger landed randomly on a map of the United States, in Colorado, over the Stanley Hotel. And he continued the destiny that he had marked to follow. Guess what story it is?

  Synopsis of Stephen King's box

The master of terror Stephen King, found a box full of stories and manuscripts that belonged to his father. And since then no one revealed what was inside or if this influenced King in his work. This is a tribute to Stephen King and his stories. In the story "The box of stories" Steve finds the box mentioned and as he grows from childhood to adulthood, he has recurring dreams and predicts the events that will become the books he wrote until success. In the story "The Undertaker" An undertaker about to retire, looking emaciated and bony, after more than 40 years burying the dead of Board Hill, never wondered, when it would be time for him to die and, not even who would bury him. And it is not good to think much about the dead. In the story "The girl 10" A married man has several affairs with different women, until one day he is presented with the girl 10. A model and sculptural beauty of long legs and big eyes with a green glow in them. But after staying with her in a room, she discovers the truth and that she is shedding her skin and has claws on her hands. In the story "Rotten apples" Tom loved his fruit trees, especially the apple trees when in spring they were a feast of colors. He loved his apples and every day; he officiously ate two of them. Until one day he is tired and instead of his nails he sees roots grow, and his joints become rigid. In the story "In the mouth of the worm" An 18th-century usurer recounts his money every night. He is the collector of the town because he has leased a whole street of houses that are his property. And every night he counts all his coins stored in a safe until one day he lacks a coin and discovers a slimy spot. In the story "The coconut is under the sheets" Danny is terrified. The coconut is no longer inside the closet or under the bed, nor in the darkness after turning off the light in your room. The coconut is sleeping next to him under the sheets every night. And he fears for the life of his brothers. In the story "Everything you have lost" A long trip, in a carriage. A storm of snow. The horses were galloping while breathing copiously. Bad luck and fate, he wants them to have an accident, and under the carriage the boy Bobby Brown is stuck.

His leg hurts. Mom is dead, and her sister is pregnant. But Bobby gets a sudden pain of appendicitis, and his sister breaks water. Maverick, the father and husband of the late Sue, has to face a difficult situation. In the story "It's time to say goodbye" in a peculiar village those who are going to die to say goodbye to their family and go to the sacred mountain, where there is a cemetery and after returning not everything is what it seems. In the story "Never pronounce my name" Do not look at me, do not see me and never say my name. The legend says that if you see it and pronounce its name together, it will take over you and turn you into a dark being. It will take out you
r darker side, and the more you fear it, the more it will take hold of you. But that is a legend, and the reality is that a madman has escaped from the psychiatric and is on the loose at the mercy of his murderous impulses. The psychopath is disguised as "No Name Man" and will kill all the guys on campus who cross his path. But the legend exists in reality, and at the end when the house next to the campus takes root and the underground comes out "No Name Man" is shown before the psychopath terrifying and seizing him. The murderer does not know his name, but he feels immense fear, and he enters his mind pushing him to do what he wants most, to cut his neck to stop listening to his name. And he is not alone.
