My sincere thanks goes out to those either read drafts or offered advice and encouragement. There are too many people to name, but highest on that list is my brother-in-law Fraser Malcolm. He is a talented lawyer and has a keen eye for detail. The final draft of this book is much better than the first thanks to him.

Finally, and most importantly, I must thank my wife, Candice. She is a professional writer. Without watching her work and reading her writing, I would not have had the courage necessary to undertake this process. Her writing is some of the most interesting work being written in English today. Obviously this books falls well short of that, but her work inspired me to type the first few words and to keep going. Without her, this book would not exist.
