Floured Felonies (The Donut Mysteries Book 27)
Page 16
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 heaping teaspoon baking powder
1½ to 2 quarts canola oil for frying (depending on the depth of your pot)
Directions
Heat the canola oil to 375 degrees F.
In a large bowl, beat the eggs first, and then add the sugar and whole milk. Set that mixture aside and sift together the flour, salt, nutmeg, and baking powder. Add the dry ingredients to the wet, stirring thoroughly as you go.
You can make small balls by using a pair of teaspoons, but we like to use a small cookie scoop to add the dough to the oil and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, turning the balls halfway through. Dust with powdered sugar or add icing after they are cool to the touch.
Makes about a dozen fluffs.
