Forgiving Nancy (Last Hangman MC Series Book 5)

“Don’t fucking test me, Callum.”
“Just messing with you.” He chuckles.
“Go get my woman, please.” I beg him.
“You got it, we’ll be back in the next two days.”
“Why so long?”
“I’m including an extra day because she’s a woman and will want to go to the bathroom every fucking hour.” It’s his turn to groan.
“True that.” I laugh before wincing.
“Take care of yourself,” he says before hanging up.
I can’t believe what’s fucking happening. If Callum doesn’t bring Nancy back I might have to kill him myself for failing her. The best part of me is missing and I have to rely on someone else to get her back. She’s my Gorgeous Girl, she’s supposed to be by my side, not with some conservative, stuck up, rich fucker.
CHAPTER 31
Nancy
The Next Day
Yesterday was a fucking nightmare. It was worse than when I was back at the Infernos’ compound. It might sound like I’m exaggerating, but I’m really not.
The more hours I spend in my mother’s company the more obvious it is that my mother and Richard are pretty much the same person. They’re both controlling douchebags who use their girls for money without a care about the consequences or the poor girl being used. The only difference is that one is my own mother. She’s marrying me off to someone I don’t know, don’t love and never will, for her own personal benefit. At least Richard was just sending us out to fuck and come back.
My mother is throwing shit at me left, right and center every five minutes and my head is spinning from it all. I’ve been told that I have to get pregnant within the next six months, despite me clearly telling her that I wasn’t even sure if I could still have kids with what I’ve been through.
Her rules are absolutely ridiculous. As if it wasn’t enough that the threat over Bennett is still very much in place, I’m not allowed to have contact with anyone outside of my parents and my fiancé. I’m only allowed out of the house when my mother is with me, like my own personal bodyguard, except she’s not protecting me, she’s making sure I don’t make a run for it. I wish I had a way to contact Bennett, I tried to ask George for a phone, but he must have known what I wanted it for because he refused to let me borrow his. I’ve tried to make it hard for him by acting like spoilt brat and be the whiniest bitch I could be by making odd requests every two minutes, but he doesn’t care who he marries as long as his fortune increases. He’s no better than my mom, just seemingly nicer on the surface.
The God awful engagement party just ended and I’m left with a massive, obnoxious rock on my ring finger and a feeling of emptiness. We’re all staying in George’s parents’ mansion for the night and while the place looks amazing, it feels like another prison.
I’m sat on George’ bed, looking around, feeling so out of place when he walks into the room.
“Relax, you should be happy and celebrating.” He smiles at me but it looks more like a leer.
“Did you hit your head at some point during that party or did you forget that I want nothing to do with any of this?”
“How could I forget when you keep reminding me?” He raises a perfectly groomed eyebrow at me, mocking me.
“And yet I have to keep repeating myself because you can’t seem to get it into your thick skull.”
“Just trying to help you see things my way, this can be beneficial to both of us. We don’t have to be faithful, we can have fun on the side as long as it stays private so no one will question our marriage.” He shrugs before he sips his Cognac. It smells vile and reminds me of whenever Richard would come around to visit us. He’d dress up in his trademark leather pants and just his cut on top, prancing around our hallway with a glass full of Cognac.
“Fuck that. This wedding isn’t happening, trust me.”
“Why? Do you really think your little biker boyfriend is going to come and rescue you? He knows you’re engaged, Babe. He’s not going to come.” He smirks and my face falters. Now Bennett might not be coming, but if Bennett knows, then he might have sent Callum. I bloody hope he has.
“He might not be coming himself, but one of his brothers might and want to know something? If he sends the one I’m thinking of, then I don’t think you’ll be around for much longer.” I shrug and get up to go get myself something to eat. I need proper food. I don’t get why posh people eat those tiny portions of food, you’re only going to need a McDonald’s to fill you half an hour later.
“Don’t you dare threaten me,” he hisses in my ear as he puts his hand across the door, blocking my exit.
“It’s not a threat, it’s the truth and I’d like to go get something to eat so please remove your hand.” I glance at him sideways, feeling way too close to him for comfort.
“No way. I know what you’re really up to.” He grabs my wrists and half drags me back towards the bed.
“Oh really? And what might that be besides getting a drink and some food?”
“You’re going to try to run away,”
“You really think you know me that well?” I laugh.
“Oh yeah, you’re a spoilt biker bitch who’s worth fuck all. First chance I get, you’ll be the one six feet under.” He pushes me onto the bed and undoes his pants. “I’ll teach you to defy me.” Suddenly my very first client comes to my mind and I freeze. I promised myself that I’d never let it happen to me again. I don’t want this man and there’s no fucking way I’m letting him go any further, I will not be the victim again.
“What do you think you’re doing?” I try to sit up but he pushes me back down and lies between my legs.
“Fucking my fiancée, what do you think I’m doing?” He smirks and I shudder as I feel his semi-hard cock against my leg
“Get off me or I’ll scream,” I say, trying to keep my voice level.
“No one will come, Babe. Everybody knows we’re going to have sex tonight, they’ll just think we’re playing around like any young couple does.”
“You’re about to fucking rape me, I wouldn’t call it playing around.”
“Who’s talking about rape? I know you want me, Baby.” He smirks and grinds his hips against my leg.
“I do NOT want you, not now, not ever so get the fuck off me, NOW!” I yell at him and he does something I would never expect of him. He pulls out a knife from God knows where and presses it against my throat.
“You’re going to shut up now and play nice or I’ll slit your throat here and now. Maybe I’ll tell you parents that your little friend showed up and couldn’t stand the sight of you being happy with me so he killed you. We both know that our parents will believe me and we have more than enough money to silence the cops.”
“You disgust me.” I spit in his face which earns me a backhand to the face.
“Shut the fuck up and be the good little whore you are.” He snarls and grabs a condom from his pocket. He tries to roll it down his cock with one hand as he holds the knife to my throat with the other, I take a chance and grab the lamp that’s on the nightstand and smash it against his head with all my power. I don’t manage to knock him out, but he does lose his balance which gives me a chance to make a run for it. I push him off of me, grab the knife and run out of the room. I rush down the stairs, taking two at a time whilst being careful not to fall over. It’s the middle of the night so no one is awake which works in my favor and I might be able to sneak out without being noticed.
“Nancy get back here now!” I hear being shouted from behind me, but I don’t turn around, I have to keep going. Just as I make it to the front door George grabs my arms and spins me around so I’m facing him. He shoves me against the door and covers my mouth to stop my screams before pressing himself into me. He gasps as his body collides with mine. He backs away from me and looks down at his stomach to see a growing red spot appear on his white dress shirt. “You fucking bitch.” He tries to reach for me and leans on me. The smell of him reminds me of my first client and I
lose it.
“I told you I didn’t want you. You should have listened to me.” Something inside me makes me snap. I don’t know if it’s the memories of that man or the fight or flight instinct, but I can’t let him take advantage of me, not again. I push him off of me and he loses his balance. He’s on his back, gasping for air, holding onto his chest and side. Sweat is forming on his forehead as his face pales. He lifts his hand, reaching for me, begging me with his eyes to help him, but I simply don’t care. I guess he was right about one thing, I am a biker bitch, I’ve spent the past five years around bikers, good and bad, my version of what is unacceptable is different than anybody else’s. I look him in the eye, a smirk playing on my lips before slitting his throat. “That’s for threatening to slit my throat, you vile bastard.” I watch as he slowly loses consciousness. I check his pulse and feel it slowing down and losing strength. I wait a few more seconds to be sure before checking his pockets for his phone and make my escape.
In hindsight, I should have taken his car keys because I’m running down the private road that leads to the mansion from the main road. I’m wearing short heels, but it’s fucking hard to run in any kind of heels. I’m already out of breath but am too scared to check if anyone is following me. As I run for my life, I unlock his phone and congratulate myself on being nosy and spying his password earlier today. I click on the phone app and dial Callum’s number. I congratulate myself once again for actually remembering his number as I wait for him to pick up. Calling him is a long shot because he is terrible at picking up but he’s the only number I can think of right now.
“Hello?”
“Callum!” I exclaim.
“Nancy? Where the fuck are you?” he asks, sounding worried.
“Long story, I’m in my hometown. Is there any chance you could come and get me?”
“What the fuck have you done? Why did you go back?” he scolds me and I feel like a child being told off for putting their hand in the cookie jar.
“Long story, I’m in fucking trouble are you or are you not able to come pick me up?”
“I’m ten minutes away, can you hang in there for ten minutes?”
“Wait, what? New Orleans is not ten mi-”
“Who says I’m in New Orleans?” He chuckles darkly.
“Bennett.” I sigh and smile to myself.
“Yeah, he called me straight after your mother told him that you were getting engaged. He’s in a bad shape, Nance.” He sighs.
“What do you mean?” I slow down as I reach the end of the lane and hit the main road.
“Ant called me earlier, he’s drinking himself into oblivion and tried to bite Nurse Charlotte when she was trying to change his bandages. He’s a mess without you Nance.”
“Bite her? What the fuck? Isn’t he still in the hospital? He should know that I wouldn’t do that to him! The fucking bastard.” How could he not know that I was coming back to him?
“Tell me about it. That’s Bennett and his logic for you. You leaving him with just that note drove him over the edge, combine that with the alcohol he’s been consuming and the painkillers, then you get the state he’s in now.”
“Fuck. I’m not at my parents at the minute; I’ll text you the address. I’m about to run out of battery.”
“Okay, Nance. Stay safe.” He hangs up and I quickly text him the address and where I’d be specifically before tossing the phone into the small river that separates the property from the main road.
I walk down the road until the house is out of my sight, just in case someone decides to come out and look for me. I sit on a big rock that’s on the side of the road. I take off my shoes and throw them to the side wishing that I could do the same with my bloodied clothes. What I just did keeps playing on my mind and I start to shake. I just took someone’s life. I never thought I’d ever be able to do that. What if there’s cameras in the house? They’ll be able to see me killing George. Will they tell the police? Am I going to prison? Worse, are my parents going to make good on their threat and have Bennett killed?
Luckily a black pickup truck comes to a stop by me, saving me from my thoughts. Callum jumps down from the driver’s seat and looks around before spotting me.
“Fucking hell, what the fuck happened to you?” He rushes over to me and helps me stand me up before checking me for wounds.
“It’s not my blood, Callum.”
“Wanna talk about it?” he asks as he takes off his jacket and drapes it across my shoulders.
“Not here, we should go.” He nods as he helps me walk over to the car and climb up into the cab. He jogs around to the driver’s seat and speeds off in the direction of home.
We drive in silence and I can feel the tension emanating from Callum. He doesn’t press me for details, but I can tell that he’s desperate to know what happened.
“My fiancé threatened me with a knife and tried to force himself onto me. I hit him in the head with a lamp, stole the knife from him and ran. When he caught up to me and pushed me against the front door, the knife went in. Then I slit his throat,” I say flatly.
“Fuck, Nance.”
“I know.” I rub my face.
“Don’t worry, we won’t let anything happen to you.”
“Thank you. How’s Lewis?”
“Dead,” he answers monotonously.
“Wanna talk about it?”
“No, want to stop somewhere?” he asks, squeezing my thigh to provide some comfort.
“Yes, home, where Bennett is.” I place my hand on his and squeeze it in silent support. Even if he acts like he doesn’t care about Lewis, I know he’s going to feel responsible for her death.
“That’s my girl.” I can hear the smile in his voice and he puts the pedal to the metal.
Once I told Callum that I wanted to go home, he didn’t hesitate and broke every speed limit between Pinehurst and New Orleans. It’s a good thing there weren’t any cops on our way or we’d have been arrested on the spot which considering the state I’m in, would be a worst case scenario. Not much was said during the trip, besides Callum asking me every half hour if I wanted to stop somewhere. I threatened him after the tenth time that if he kept asking we’d be stopping for him after I punch him in the nose. The only time we stopped was to get gas.
While Callum was filling up the tank, I went quickly to the bathroom. I don’t usually notice people’s reactions to my appearance, but the look on some people’s faces as I walked through the station to get to the bathroom was priceless. I washed off some of the blood in the sink, but I didn’t get is all off because I didn’t want to waste any more time. I need to get to Bennett. What Callum said about Bennett drinking himself into oblivion has made me desperate to get to him. He should know better by now, especially after spending three days in a coma and suffering a punctured lung! We’re about thirty minutes from Bennett’s and every mile we travel has me felling more and more anxious. I’m not sure in what state we’ll find Bennett in.
As Callum pulls up in front of Bennett’s house, I jump out of the truck before it even stops and run to the front door.
“Hurry up! I don’t have the key.” I groan in frustration as Callum takes his sweet ass time following me.
“Keep your panties on, for fuck’s sake.” He shakes his head as he walks over and unlocks the door for me.
“Thanks.” I push the door open and rush in. I’m shocked when I walk in, I wasn’t expecting to see Nurse Charlotte here, bent over Bennett. “Is he okay?”
“Just passed out drunk. I’m grateful really, it saves me risking a finger because he’s a big wuss.” She chuckles.
“Oh shit, I’m sorry about that.” I walk further into the living room and look around. The place is an absolute mess with empty beer and whiskey bottles everywhere. He must have thrown up somewhere because the place reeks of vomit. “How’s he doing?”
“Physically, he’s recovering well, better than I thought he would. But mentally, he’s struggling” She stands up and takes off her gloves
.
“Fucking hell Bennett, what did you do to yourself?” I sigh and look down at his unconscious form on the couch.
“Are you okay though?” She looks me over with a Nurse’s eye.
“Yeah, I’ll be fine, it’s not my blood.” I give her an apologetic grin as a wave towards my still blood stained skin and clothes.
“That’s not so bad then I suppose. I’ll be back later before my shift to make sure he hasn’t opened a stitch again.”
“What the fuck has he been up to burst his stitches open?”
“It’s probably from throwing up. He needs a shower and a good shave too. His bandages are waterproof but he might need some help. I’m glad you’re back, he’ll stop moaning about you leaving him to die alone now.” She rolls her eyes, clearly amused by his antics.
“Leaving him to die? Typical Bennett. Thank you for taking care of him.”
“No need to thank me, I’m just doing my job.” She smiles before gathering her stuff and heading out the door. She and Callum exchange a few words, but I don’t pay attention to them as I kneel down by Bennett’s side.
“Bennett?” I stroke his cheek. God, he really does need a shave and a shower, he reeks of alcohol and sick.
“Nancy?” He mumbles, and tries to open his eyes.
“It’s me.” I smile and keep stroking his cheek. He turns his head to look at me and his blood shot eyes struggle to focus on me.
“Did I die and went to heaven?” A faint smile appears on his lips
“It would be hell for you but no, you’re still very much alive.” I sit next to him.
“Please don’t ever leave me again.” He wraps his arms around me and pulls me close.
“I promise, I won’t, never again.” I kiss his shoulder and struggle to hold back the tears.
“Are you really engaged?” He pulls away from me suddenly and asks in a worried voice.
“No, it’s a long story. I’ll tell you all about it when you’re sober.” I say as I kiss the palm of his hand.
“Why are you covered in blood? Are you hurt? Oh my God, Nancy, what the fuck happened to you?” he rushes to get his words out and sounds agitated.
