“Oh my Lord,” she cried out as he pushed the magic buttons. Before she could help herself, her body trembled and spasmed, and she came uncontrollably with a yell. Her hands frantically grasped at his head, pushing him deeper into herself. Her hips pulsed and pushed, as if she could fuck his mouth.

At last, she lay back, her eyes shut, her heart racing.

Devin sat up and kissed her. She could taste herself on his lips and pulled his face closer to hers again.

“Oh baby, you just wait,” she said.

“Was that good? Are you okay?” he asked.

“You’re amazing, and I’ve only just begun. That was a warm-up,” she said as she leaned over to take his cock into her mouth. She licked long, wet, warm strokes up and down from his balls to the tip of his shaft, then pushed him back. “Relax, my darling. I’m going to take good care of you.”

Adele set to working sucking on his cock again. Up and down she licked and sucked his length. He grew larger and harder with every stroke. She took his cock in her hands and set to work licking his balls. She sucked first one and then the other; strong, forceful sucks while her tongue danced warm and wet.

“Oh my...” This time it was Devin’s turn to sigh. He watched her eagerly as she took him into her mouth. He held a fistful of her curly, blond hair and firmly guided her head up and down.

“Yes, that’s it,” he said. “Oh, just like that.”

Adele sat up more so she could take him deeper into her mouth. She had been sucking dick for years and knew how to open her throat to let more of him slip down. His cock pulsed in her throat, and she wondered if he was going to come.

“Ah...” Devin said, gently pushing her away. “You’d better stop if you want more.”

Adele stood up. As she wiped her mouth, she glanced over at the mural. It seemed to shimmer. Perhaps it was reflecting the candlelight—or perhaps the streetlights? Devin watched her.

“I love the colors in your paintings,” Adele said. “I know I tell you that all the time, but I really do. They’re so sensual and inviting, magical and...”

“Come here.” He held his hands up to her. She leaned over him, and he took her face and kissed it hard.

“I’m talking too much again,” Adele said nervously. “I have this chattering thing where I can’t stop talking.”

“It’s okay,” Devin said as he kissed her again. She took the hint and pressed her mouth against his. They tasted each other on their tongues, and the musky connection seemed to create another source of vibration within her. An electric energy tingled wherever he stroked her with his hands.

One hand rubbed her clit while the other reached over by the lamp on the side table and plucked a condom from behind it. He quickly opened the wrapper with both hands and rolled the rubber over his cock.

He parted her legs and slowly slid into her. She groaned softly as his firm, warm cock parted her damp folds. He pushed in deeper, and she had to spread her legs to accommodate his thickness.

“Oh my Lord,” she moaned between kisses. “You feel so delicious.”

She closed her eyes, and a flickering behind her eyelids startled her. She opened them and immediately looked at the mural. It seemed to ripple as she stared at it. The trees shifted slightly, as if dancing in a light breeze. She closed her eyes again and enjoyed the steady thrusting of Devin’s virile dick slamming into her.

Devin pulled on her hips as he pushed himself into her. He leaned back so he was sitting up more and was able to get better traction as he half squatted. Adele watched the ripple of his biceps throbbing as he pulled her back and forth. Another flash caught her eye, and she realized they weren’t in the room anymore. They were on the couch, but outside.

She blinked, wondering what was wrong with her.

Devin fucked her harder and faster, and another orgasm rushed through her. There was a soft wind on her face, cooling her as she cried out.

“Devin, oh my God!” Her hands reached out for his waist, and she pulled him down on top of her, bucking her hips for one last rush.

“Oh yes,” she said, closing her eyes as another surge of relief shuddered through her body. “That’s so good.”

Devin kept fucking her until his thrusts slowed and deepened. He shouted as he came. Adele opened her eyes and watched his face, enjoying his expression of rapture as he arched his back, the muscles in his chest pulled tight.

Devin leaned forward for a moment, then looked up at her with a grin. “You are magnificent,” he said as he crawled up to kiss her. They lips met and parted, then Adele pushed him back. She looked around. They were back in Devin’s apartment.

“Holy shit,” she said. “I can’t believe it.”

  “What?” Devin asked.

  “This room, it changed.”

  “What are you talking about?”

Adele looked over at the mural. It was the same as when she had first laid eyes on it. The candles still flickered, the streetlights still shined in through the windows, yet the mural didn’t glimmer.

“Wow, am I on drugs?” she asked, putting her hand to her forehead.

  “Why? What’s wrong?” Devin asked.

“I just had a weird hallucination while we were doing it. The couch was somewhere in the mural,” Adele stammered as she reached for her wine. She finished the glass. Devin reached over to pour the wine but the bottle was empty.

“I’ll get some more,” he said. She heard him clanging around in the kitchen, and the fridge opening and shutting. He returned, looking rather comical as he carried two bottles of water, a bottle of wine and a corkscrew. He was stark naked and his semi-hard penis hung magnificently between his legs.

“I have more of that red wine,” he said.

“Just a bit. I have to get home and get some sleep,” Adele said.

They toasted each other once more, and Adele nestled into Devin’s arms. They listened to the sounds of the night, random footsteps on the sidewalk and the odd car slicing through the slushy roads.

“I saw it too,” Devin said, startling her.

  “Saw what?” she asked.

“I saw Harmoni, when we were doing it,” he confessed.

  “Did you?”

“Yes. We were on the bank of the brook but still on the couch. The air was filled with a sound, like music but not. It made me feel peaceful and happy.”

“That’s how I felt too. Well, in between orgasms,” Adele laughed.

  “Yeah, it was weird.”

“I bet you go to Harmoni with all the girls,” she chided. Devin sat up and turned to look at her. His eyes reflected his hurt.

“No, Adele, I don’t. I’ve never been to Harmoni before, with or without a woman. I see it, I paint it, but I’ve never felt the wind on my face.”

“I felt it too. It’s so freaky.”

“It was cool, though, don’t you think? I wonder if we could ever get there again.”

“I’m sure we could.” Adele sipped her wine, staring at Devin. His aura was sparking and sputtering, creating little bursts of rainbows that shot out sporadically. The grayish thread still wound its way through the aura, avoiding the bubbling spurts.

“Do you think we have to have sex to do it?” Devin asked, his face reddening into a blush.

“We’ll have to find out, but not tonight.”

“Certainly not tonight,” he agreed. He squeezed her playfully. “You’re a wonderful lady.”

“Why, thank you.” Adele blushed too and drank more wine. They sat in silence, staring around the room.

“So, are you going to keep painting these pictures?” she asked.

“I’ll have to see where my muse takes me. I don’t mind painting the pictures. They make me happy.”

“Listen to you. You ‘don’t mind.’ What does that mean?” Adele asked.

Devin laughed. “It does sound kind of funny. I guess because I’m not sure why I paint them. It’s almost like I’m answering to someone. But they do make me happy.”

  “They m
ake me happy too,” she said. “But Harmoni. Is it a place?”

“No idea. I should Google it sometime.”

“Yeah, maybe I will too.” Adele patted his leg and firmly squeezed his muscled thigh. “I should get going. Get dressed, leave,” she said as she gathered up her clothes and headed for the bathroom. The warm, comforting breeze of Harmoni was gone, replaced by the chilly dampness of the March air.

When she returned, Devin had slipped on a T-shirt and shorts. He sat on the couch staring at the mural.

  “I’m off, then,” she said.

“I’ll see you later.” Devin kissed her gently and brushed a curl from her face.

“Yes, see you in class.” Adele smiled.

  Chapter Three

In your search for answers, you may find only more questions.

Adele swam as fast as she could but to no avail. The shark was close behind her. She tried to break the surface of the water, but every time she opened her mouth to cry out, her mouth was filled with rose petals. At last she was able to gasp and shout, pulling wet petals from her eyes as she continued to swim. Every few kicks, she straightened her leg and aimed for the shark’s nose. She hoped she didn’t miss and land her foot right into its mouth.

A life preserver was thrown to her from somewhere, and it bobbed just before her in a sea of rose petals. In fact, that’s exactly what it was, a sea of petals. She looked back and saw the shark lose momentum and sink.

Her own body suddenly felt heavy, and she thrashed out toward the lifesaver, grabbing it just as she started to fall.

The preserver jerked forward, and soon she was on the sandy beach, gazing up at the buff lifeguard. His face was blurred by the gleam of the sun behind him, but she just knew he was smiling.

Adele woke again to the scent of roses. She threw off her covers and stretched, rather amazed at how good she felt. She pulled on her arms and legs, loosening up her bones as was her habit in the past few years. There were far fewer pops and cracks than the day before.

  She grinned.

“I guess a bit of nooky took away some of the frigidness,” she sang out to the room. Happiness surged through her, and she hurried out of bed. She was so excited, she wasn’t sure what she should do first but wisely opted for the bathroom.

After she had finished her business, she caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror.

  How can it be?

Her face seemed more youthful, more alive.

Spring is coming and I just got laid. Of course I’m feeling mighty fine.

The question niggled at her just the same as she put on the coffee before she stepped into the shower.

The smell of the lavender soap filled her nostrils with a richer, warmer scent than she’d ever noticed before. The water slapped her skin like many tiny needles, and she had to adjust the showerhead to a softer level. Satisfied with the new steady pulse, she soaped up her body and worked the lather into bubbles along her arms and legs. She rubbed her soft, round belly and thought about making a wish on Buddha. She and an old boyfriend had spent many hours joking about her magic belly, for it seemed they often had good luck together. That was, until their luck eventually ran out, or perhaps he was just bored of her Buddha belly.

Never mind. She was happy the way she was. She soaped herself up under her arms and down her legs. She scrubbed her feet with the sponge and stood up a bit too quickly. Dizzy, she grabbed the rail on the shower wall and held herself steady.

“It’s okay. I’ve got it now,” she said to no one.

She finished washing her breasts, enjoying her soapy fingers massaging their slippery surface. She thought about Devin’s touch and his sweet face. His hands on her breasts, between her legs, touching her lips. It already seemed like a dream that they had really connected, had really fucked. His essence was still in and around her, even as the water washed it away.

And Harmoni. What was it? Why was he so obsessed with the place? Was it even real? The smell of the lavender was getting to her, so she finished up rinsing off the soap.

When she looked in the mirror again, she noticed once more that she looked better than she had in years. No sign of age or nightmares.

Devin seemed to be good for her, at least so far. She felt fantastic as she set about getting ready for work.

As Adele wandered down the road toward her store, she passed a young man who was whistling as he strolled past various shops, peeking in the windows. He wore a spring jacket and jeans, his shoulders hunched to protect himself from the wind that blew in from the ocean and tunnelled down the roads. He stared into the window of an electronics store. A large flat-screen TV was showing a music video of Britney Spears song “Womanizer.” The man’s aura was huge and red, shining up from his head and spreading out from his sides. His lust for Britney was nearly tangible the closer Adele got to him.

Nice tits, the man thought as he watched Britney writhing around.

Adele stopped and looked at the man. He glanced over at her, giving her a quizzical look.

  “Good morning,” he said.

“Good morning to you too,” Adele said and walked on.

As she rounded the corner, she passed a woman who appeared to be in a great hurry as she clutched several bags. Her aura sparkled with many colors, almost like glitter that had been tossed into the air.

  Mocha latte with three sugars...

The woman pushed on by while Adele stopped and stared at her. Was she talking to her?

Maybe a chocolate muffin, no, too fattening, maybe cranberry... The thoughts faded as the woman walked away, her glitter sparkling behind her.

I feel like a radio transmitter, Adele thought. Is this the sort of thing Natasha has to go through all the time?

She continued on until she reached her shop. The fleeting thoughts of people flitted in and out of her own mind as she passed them on the street, their auras shining and colorful. It was so strange. Usually she had to concentrate to see auras, but today they were glowing all around her.

As the day wore on, Adele was distracted by the constant bombardment of auras and thoughts. She called Shira, who sometimes helped her in the store.

“I have to get away,” Adele said. “I keep seeing auras and catching stray thoughts from people. It’s distracting and disconcerting.”

“I can understand that, honey,” Shira said. “You just go and have yourself a lovely afternoon. I’ll close up.”

“I appreciate that,” Adele said as she pulled out her cell phone. First she called her friend Dorothy, a crystal ball reader and a Taurus.

“Dorothy, honey,” Adele spoke quickly as she pulled on her coat. “Do you have any openings today?”

“I have some time right now before my next appointment if you can get over here,” Dorothy said.

“I’ll be right there,” Adele promised. She dialed another number as she walked quickly down the street.

“Ursula?” Adele asked. “Can you see me today?”

Ursula was a tealeaf reader. She was available later on, so Adele made an appointment. By the time she hung up, she had arrived at Dorothy’s house.

Adele stood on the front step of the tiny cottage-type home. The slush from the roof steadily dripped onto the porch and stairs. The house was yellow, which had faded somewhat over the years. Many shapes and sizes of crystal sun catchers hung in all the shuttered windows behind the curtains, sparkling and glinting despite the dull New England afternoon.

She rang the bell. There was banging, then footsteps, and at last Dorothy opened the door. Adele squinted. Dorothy’s aura was so bright, Adele wondered if she should don her sunglasses.

  “Come in.” Dorothy waved.

The thick scent of incense hung in the air. A sweet, sugary smell with pungent aromas of spices such as cinnamon welcomed her as she stepped into Dorothy’s home. Dorothy led her into the front parlor, which was set up to greet her clients.

“Would you like some tea or coffee?” Dorothy
offered.

“No, thanks,” Adele said. “I’m eager to get started.”

“Very well.” Dorothy smiled. She indicated for Adele to sit at the table holding a large crystal ball and several small piles of gemstones.

Adele always enjoyed going to see Dorothy for readings. Her home was very cozy, with several cats who roamed around. She had many shelves that displayed all types of crystal balls and gemstones. Her biggest crystal ball was close to the size of the one in The Wizard of Oz, but she didn’t use it very often. She kept it in a place of honor over in a corner on a huge, stone gargoyle pedestal. Velvet curtains draped over and around it to set off its beauty. The ball Dorothy chose to use for Adele’s reading was slightly smaller than a human head and, although heavy, could be held.

“You’ve chosen an auspicious day to come.” Dorothy smiled. “The moon is in Cancer, and that’s always a sharp time for my intuition and scrying.”

“Well, I need your help,” Adele said as she lowered her eyes. “Your aura is so bright today. You must be feeling pretty good.”

“I feel fantastic. Like I said, I do well when the moon is in Cancer.”

“I’m glad you didn’t have to work today. I have something odd to discuss.”

“Odd? In Hermana?” Dorothy laughed. “I’m glad I didn’t have to work too. Being a cashier gets rather tedious at times.”

  “I can imagine.”

“I mean, you own your store, and it’s exciting to sell lingerie and dress people up. Being a greeter and cashier at SuperBigStore’s not exactly a way to feel pride and joy, if you know what I mean.”

“At least you have a steady income. You don’t have to worry about sales at the end of the day.”

“That’s true. That chain is so huge, they’ll never go out of business,” Dorothy said. “Anyway, tell me your story, your ‘odd thing.’”
