  CHAPTER ONE

  Amy

  Six months later.

"You need to point your toes when you spin to the left. It makes the movement seem more fluid, as if you are water flowing over the floor. Roll your arms more from the wrists."

  "Like this, Miss?"

"A little bit more. Feel the music, become lost in it. Shut your eyes, let it flow through you, and your body will respond."

The sixteen-year-old performed the move again, this time perfectly.

  "Yes, yes, just like that."

She jumped for joy, and Amy stepped back proudly. She’d been working with her for a couple of months now in preparation for her audition at a dance academy. It was fantastic to see the way she was developing, and Amy was sure she would easily pass the test.

"Well done, Emily. We’re done for the day. Go home and get some rest. Feet up. Lots of carbohydrates. You’ll need it for tomorrow. You will do brilliantly, though. I can feel it. Break a leg." Amy and Emily both giggled.

"Thank you, Miss Amy. You’ve been so wonderful. I’ll text you tomorrow to let you know how it went."

"Please do. I’ll be anxious until I hear."

It had been two months since Amy had opened the dance school. It had taken about four months to convert the club into a suitable venue for a school. She had to redecorate and disinfect so many of the rooms, although the dark room at the back was sealed up. She never went in there. Some of the smaller rooms had been rented out to music teachers and after-school clubs. She had kept the stage area as it was, to rent out to local groups who wanted it for their own performances. She would also plan an end-of-term display for all her students.

Amy had worked night and day on this project. It was all she had left. It hadn't been easy. People knew what the club had once been. They knew about the deaths that had occurred there, and it took a lot of word of mouth and advertising just to get people in the door.

She was sleeping in one of the back rooms so that she was still able to rent out her flat and use the income to put into the school. Her uncle's patrons hadn't taken kindly to the change either and she’d had to pay out a lot to the previous employees to ensure that they didn’t cause trouble.

  It hadn't been easy.

At first, she’d thrown herself into the work just to stop crying. She was utterly destroyed by the events on the day James had been shot. She tried not to think of him, but he always seemed to come into her mind when she least expected it, and she would break down.

Elena had tried to get her to go to clubs with her, or even just down the pub for a drink, but Amy wasn't ready. She said she’d lost all her confidence, but the reality was, she was still very much in love with James. She saw him on the news and in newspapers. He was busy working on his hotels. A few weeks ago, he had been photographed out clubbing with two girls. The heading stated he was ‘back on the market’, and he was certainly enjoying himself. Amy hadn't even gotten out of bed that day.

"How did Emily do?" Elena interrupted Amy's thoughts.

"She did well. I think she’s finally ready. She’ll ace the audition."

"Brilliant. You should really start your teaching exams. You’re a natural dancer. You don't need me apart from the qualifications bit."

"You want to leave me already?"

"Well no, just saying." Elena came and gave Amy a big cuddle. "Right. I’m not going to take no for an answer today. I’m going out tonight dancing, and you’re coming with me."

  "Lena, no."

"No arguments, Amy. You’re twenty-one, and you need to live more. Come on, let's get you some clothes to wear."

Elena dragged Amy through the club to the room that was used for a bedroom. She opened the small wardrobe Amy had and sighed.

"Is that it? You’ve like three outfits."

Amy had walked out of James' life with her bank card, and the clothes she'd had on. Clothes that were covered in blood.

"Sorry. I’ll just put my PJ's on and relax in front of the TV instead."

"No, you won't. You can come to my apartment. We’re a similar size; you can wear something of mine."

"El...," Amy began but didn't get to finish before she was dragged from the room and towards the doors of the club. Part of her wanted to run back and lock herself in her bedroom, but she had to begin living again.

Four hours later, in the night club and on their second drinks, Amy was actually enjoying herself. She felt a bit overdone--her hair had been pulled and twisted into an elaborate style, she had more makeup on than she usually wore, and the skirt Elena had chosen for her ... well … Amy wouldn't be bending over in it anytime soon. Not if she didn't want the whole club to see everything it nearly covered.

Elena downed a Jägerbomb. "Come on Amy, let's show these people how you actually dance to this."

Amy looked at Elena's friends. "Is she always this excitable in a club?"

They all nodded in unison. A brunette, Samantha, shouted over the music, "She downs the drinks, and then dances them off. Never gets a hangover."

  "Unlike you, Sammy."

"True, but then I look like a grandma when I dance."

  They all laughed again.

  "Come on Amy, please."

"Alright. I’m coming. But if I break my ankle in your sky-high shoes, then you will have to take all my classes for a month."

"You won't." Elena started to groove with the music as they both headed to the dance floor and began to perform a bit of a routine to the song. People around them started clapping. The tune finished, and Elena drifted off into her own world when the next one came on. Amy did the same.

For the first time in months, she was happy and relaxed. She was glad she had allowed Elena to bring her here. From behind her, a pair of masculine hands slid around her hips. She turned to look at the guy. He was cute. She smiled and slowed the rhythmic movement of her hips in time with his. She was single, even if she didn't feel like it. She might as well enjoy herself.

His hands gripped tighter. She gyrated against him, one song flowed into another, and Amy became lost in the freedom of the beat.

Then a voice sent shivers down her spine. "Get your fucking hands off her."

She swung around to see James grab the guy she was dancing with and pull him off her. The guy pushed James back.

  "Get lost, loser."

Amy jumped between them and pressed her hand against James' broad chest. Her betraying body sparked with energy from his closeness.

"Wait your turn. I’m going to fuck her first."

Amy turned back to the now not-so-cute guy. "What did you say?"

"Come on, babe. You’re begging for it."

"You think I’m going to sleep with you?"

"Nobody dances like that who isn't asking for my rock-hard cock inside them."

People around them began to give them some space.

"Please, can I, Amy?" James spoke from behind her.

  "You’re asking my permission?"

"I know, and I’ve only had one beer."

"Only one. You must be getting old. Be my guest, James."

And with that, Amy turned on her heel and left the dance floor. Elena stopped her,

  "Is that the James?"

"Yes, it is. I have had a good night, but I’m going to grab a taxi home. I’ll catch you tomorrow."

  "I’ll come with you."

"No, you stay and enjoy yourself. I’ll text you when I’m home."

  "If you’re sure."

  "Yes I am.”

Amy hugged her friend, and the sounds of a fight broke out behind them. Matthew appeared in front of Amy.

"I left him for one minute."

  "Sorry, Matthew."

"No worries, Miss Jones, it’s my job."

Matthew sped past her and into the fight. Amy headed out into the fresh air. So much for a new start.

  CHAPTER TWO

  James

The first punch reverberated down James' knuckles, but that didn't stop him landing another one in quick succession. The crowd around them cleared and chants of 'fight' arose. The fight wasn't going to look good for his business, but James didn't care.

He hadn't even wanted to be at the club. They had a couple of colleagues over from Europe, and they wanted to sample some nightlife. He had known she was in the club before he even saw her. When he saw her dancing alone on the floor, she had looked so lonely but free. She was lost in the feeling of her movement, that was how she always got when she danced. He was mesmerised by her. Matthew had told him to stay away, but the second that creep had touched her, that was never going to happen.

Matthew grabbed James by the shoulders and pulled him off the now-bleeding and dazed idiot.

  "James, we have to go."

"Yeah, run on home to your skank girlfriend before she opens her legs for someone else."

James lunged, but Matthew held him tight. “Go after Amy. This is your chance. Don't waste it with this loser."

Matthew's words hit home. James nodded, and the bodyguard let him go.

  "Just teach him a lesson."

"Okay I will. Take the car. I’ll get a cab."

Matthew threw the keys to James who walked off the dance floor. Outside, James found Amy, at the taxi rank, shivering and waiting for a cab. She was even more alluring than he remembered. His body ached for her. She looked strange with so much makeup on.

"Can I give you a lift home?"

  She looked up at him.

"I don't think that’s a good idea, do you?" She looked down at his hand. It had blood from the guy's nose on it, and he tried to pull it into his jacket. "You taught him a lesson then?"

"I left Matthew to administer the harsh lesson."

  "James…" She looked worried.

"He was disrespecting you. He needs to be taught how to treat a woman."

  "He won't…kill him?"

"Matthew doesn't kill everyone to teach them a lesson."

  "I still have nightmares."

  She shivered again.

"Here, put this on." He took off his jacket and handed it to her. James had a breakthrough--she took it and placed it around her shoulders.

"I would’ve preferred to be at home, in front of the television, in my PJs."

"You haven't changed much. I remember many a movie night."

"Have you changed?" She looked up at him, the streetlights reflected in her eyes.

"Only you can tell me that, Amy."

"James, I don't want to do this now. Please."

"All I’m asking is that you let me take you home. Nothing more."

  "You promise?"

  "I promise."

  "Where’s the car?"

"Over here." He led her to a brand-new Audi.

"To replace the one I crashed?"

"Yeah. You sort of totally wrote it off."

"I’m sorry; I’d pay you back, but I could barely afford to get you a bike."

James opened the door for her, and she got in. She did her seatbelt up, he went round to the driver's side, climbed in and did the same.

"Maybe I should have got a bike to replace the Harley."

"Oh god. Did I write that off as well?"

"It was nothing a good mechanic couldn't fix. I should take you out on it sometime." He paused. "Your choice. No pressure."

She nodded and looked out of the window. James switched the engine on and waited.

"Are we not going?" She looked back at him.

"I need to know where I’m taking you."

  "You don't know?"

"You told me to stay away, Amy. I did as I was asked."

"You didn't even ask Matthew to find out?"

"You used our safe word, Amy. It killed me, but I gave you what you wanted."

She went quiet for a long while. "The club."

"The club?" James swallowed hard. He pulled out of the parking space and onto the street.

"I turned it into a dance school, but I can't afford living somewhere separate, so I use one of the rooms as my bedroom."

  "Alone." His tone was shocked.

  "Yes, James, alone."

"I didn't mean it that way. I meant…after everything that happened there?"

"I don't go in that room, and it doesn't look like the club anymore. I’ve done a lot of hard work on getting it all changed." She held her hands up. "Broke nearly every nail."

  He laughed.

"I’ll have you know; I’m pretty good with a paint brush. We opened a couple of months ago, and the client books are already filling up."

"I’m really happy for you. I know it’s what you wanted to do."

"It is. I have Elena, the girl I was with at the club. She’s a qualified dance teacher, and she works with me."

"The one with the appalling taste in night club wear."

"The exact one." Amy laughed, it was music to James' ears.

He stopped at a traffic light and turned to face her. She had lost weight. Must be all the dancing. She looked tired, though. He just wanted to scoop her into his arms and hold her close. A horn beeped behind them. He looked up to the light, and
it had turned green.

Amy giggled again. "Eyes on the road, Mr North. I expect better from my chauffeur."

"Surely if I’m your chauffeur you should be sitting in the back."

  "Pull over, and I will."

"It's ok, I’ll let you stay in the front. I forgot my peak cap so I’m off duty tonight."

A few minutes later, they pulled into the club’s car park. It had changed. Amy had done well. And a place tainted with the reputation it had, it couldn't have been easy to get off the ground. He wasn't at all happy with her staying here alone, though.

"Thank you for the lift, James." She leant over as if she was going to kiss him, and then turned to open the door instead.

  "Amy." She turned back.

  "Yes?"

He tentatively leant forward and pressed a little kiss to her lips. He pulled back looking for signs of anger on her face.

Instantly she was on him, her hands in his hair as they feverishly kissed again. She slid herself over to his seat so that she was on top of him. He pushed his chair as far back as it would go. He could smell her arousal; he could see it in the flush on her cheeks. If he touched her she would be wet and ready for him, he just knew it. He couldn’t though. If he touched her he wouldn’t be able to stop. This time, she needed to take control.

  "James, I need you."

"I want you, Amy. But are you sure?"

She began to undo his jeans to free his hardening shaft. He tore her knickers from her body when she gave consent, and she rose above him. He grabbed hold of her hips and held her in place.

"I need to put a condom on."

She froze. "Have you been with someone?"

"No. You?" He didn’t want to ask, but he had to know.

"I have barely left the club, James. Tonight was the first time."

"We still need protection, Amy. I wouldn't want you to fall pregnant."

"I had the injections. I managed to get my doctor to give them to me."

Would he be able to be inside her skin on skin and walk away if she asked him to? He should slow this down and think, but his brain was sending all the blood to his cock. He pulled her down hard onto it. His whole body shook and her tight pussy captured him.
