He beams and kisses my hair. “I love you.” He sounds so relieved, it takes my breath away.
He not only has my heart in his trusting hands, he excites it: it melts like ice cream in the sun, flows like a bending river, and dances like rain patter. All with a single glance, touch, kiss—anything that is accompanied by this man I am sure is it for me. I am sure. I am sure. I am so very sure.
I wind my arms around him and let the tears flow as he holds me back, slowly, almost shockingly. “Promise me you won’t let go,” I plead softly, but my hold on him is anything but.
“I promise to never let go.” He kisses my hair over and over until I’m giggling, and he’s cupping my face and kissing my laughter, soaking it up. I let him hold and caress my face, my hair, my back—his hands are hungry for me, and so are mine. When he finally lets go, his breath is warm against my mouth as he whispers, “Window seat or aisle?”
“Whichever is next to yours,” I reply.
He chuckles and kisses my lips. “Cheesy,” he chastises and takes my hands and pulls me onto the plane. I don’t take the window seat or the aisle. I take his lap.
