Make Him Mine

“Months?”
Chantal was silent.
Blaez coughed so hard he nearly sprung his ribs open. “Years?”
“Until marriage,” she said, settling him back down.
“I can work with that.” He kissed her temple again. “How do you feel about getting married this time next year?”
Chantal burst out laughing.
EPILOGUE
ONE YEAR LATER...
Chantal waved at Connor, looking sharp in his tiny tux. His hair had grown and now covered all of his head. It was thick and blonde, complementing his blue eyes that sparkled like stars. He’d be a heartbreaker when he grew up. She could tell.
Her eyes moved to Caldon. She caught the sixteen-year-old making a rude gesture to Blaez. The kid caught her staring and quickly dropped his hands, but not before she’d gotten the gist of his message. Chantal pumped her fist menacingly in a threat of her own.
Hazel stepped into her path, wearing a frosty blue off-the-shoulder dress. She looked stunning with her blonde hair swirled into a bun and baby’s breath trembling from the pins. “I can’t believe my baby sister’s married,” she cried.
“I know right.” Terry stepped up to her, wearing an identical outfit. The two women had vied for the position of maid of honor and it had gotten so heated that Chantal gave the title to Evie.
“You have a wonderful time on your honeymoon.” Evie kissed her cheek and whispered in her ear, “Try not to tire him out too much.”
Chantal giggled and hugged the woman tight. She was so happy to have Evie, no matter what form. But especially in human. Cecil and Mae Ling blew their bubbles and waved as she passed. Ralph wiped a tear and stopped Blaez in the middle of their march—probably to threaten him one last time.
Blaez bobbed his head respectfully. He’d asked Ralph for his blessing since her father had passed, but even that wasn’t enough to make him worthy of her hand in marriage. She was hoping Ralph would come around. Eventually. Most likely. Probably not.
The path ended and Blaez held her door open for her. Chantal stuffed her train inside and Blaez shut the door. He darted around the hood, waved once more to all their friends, and hopped in beside her. Chantal waved until her wrist felt like it was falling off and then plopped her hands into her dress.
“You okay?” Blaez asked. “You asked for a simple wedding, but Hazel had other ideas.”
“My sister’s the alpha. I should have expected a show.”
“All that matters is we’re together.” He dove for her hand and held it, gently rubbing the ring on her finger.
Chantal looked at the gold band on Blaez’s large hand and screamed in frustration.
“What? What?” He glanced at her, quickly returning his eyes to the road. “Why did you yell?”
“Blaez... this is all your fault!”
“What is?” She could see him mentally tracing the months leading up to their marriage in his mind and trying to figure out where he’d erred. “What did I do?”
“That ring on your hand is a serious turn-on and I have to wait until we make it all the way to the hotel before I do something about it.” Her chest pained her at the thought of behaving herself for thirty minutes. “I told you we should have accepted Hazel’s offer to rent a limousine and a driver.”
He laughed. Chantal glared at him and he made an effort to fix his expression, but a sexy smirk played with his lips. “If you want... we can park the car and—”
“Are you making fun of me?”
“No, ma’am.”
“Drive. Step on it. And try not to get another speeding ticket.”
Blaez pulled his tie down and put both hands on the wheel. “Yes, ma’am.”
THE BED RATTLED AND creaked, pulsing to a rhythm that no other occupant before them had the strength to produce. It was impressive really. They’d broken the bed at the hotel in town. And the sink in the airplane where they’d flown for eight hours to La Plagne, France—their honeymoon destination.
Blaez rolled off Chantal and flopped onto his back, his chest heaving. Adrenaline zipped through his body. He was exhausted. Pleasantly so. He loved being close to Chantal like this, but the woman was insatiable.
She rolled on her side and peered at him with hooded eyes. Her dark hair splayed over the white pillow and she held the sheet to her chest—a moment of modesty that seemed unnecessary after all they’d done to each other.
“Again,” she said.
Blaez let out a hoarse laugh. “You’re going to kill me, woman. If we keep going like this, I won’t get to hit the slopes.”
“I came here because you said it was cold.” She slid her bare thigh against his. “And you said you’d keep me warm.”
Blaez felt desire welling in him—which was a complete miracle after the way they’d been going at it since they left their wedding. His bride was simply beautiful and he had to catch his breath every time he looked at her. What man could resist?
Still, Blaez tried. “Give me a minute. Let’s order some room service and eat first.”
“I’m only hungry for one thing.” She gave him a knowing look.
“Is this your wolf or you talking?”
“Oh, my wolf was satisfied ages ago.” She climbed on top of him and placed a kiss to the curve of his neck, moving up and kissing each place she stopped. “This. Is. All. Me.”
He growled, his wolf rising to the occasion as their lips met. He rolled her over. She let out a sultry laugh, one reserved just for him. Blaez delighted in the sound. Breathed dirty words in her ear. Mixed it in with words of love. And then he followed through.
‘Mine’—it was the word Chantal’s wolf declared the moment they met. Now she was his and he was hers. Completely.
AFTER A WEEK IN FRANCE, they returned home where Blaez, Hazel and Terry surprised Chantal with a house in walking distance of the farmhouse. They’d decided to live with Caldon, but his brother wanted nothing to do with them and their ‘noises’ and so chose to move into the farmhouse with Evie and the others.
Timmy was offered a room there too but chose to live with his girlfriend instead. Since he was looking for a crew, Chantal invited him to join hers at Wildlife For Humanity and both Caldon and Timmy started working part-time there.
Blaez worked there too when he wasn’t busy with his newest startup. He’d gotten the fever again and couldn’t stop working. Which was a good thing. Childcare was expensive nowadays and the way Chantal was going, Blaez was sure they’d make ten kids after this one.
Their family was growing along with his business and Chantal’s animal organization. He hoped she’d slow down later in the pregnancy, but he doubted it. No matter how much recognition she received for her influence in the community, she was involved in every little detail of the day-to-day running.
Her dedication and strength were some of the reasons why he’d fallen in love with her. Chantal was fiercely devoted to her clients and would sometimes forget that he was more than just her volunteer at the center.
Sometimes Blaez got annoyed, but for the most part he didn’t mind. He was her husband and whenever she started talking to him in that principal voice he’d kiss her until she was dizzy and then he’d pull her into her office and lock the door.
Life was good and with Chantal by his side, it would only get better.
