  “Gladly.”

His warm lips graze my neck and ear, up to my earlobe where he nibbles, all while teasing my clit. He knows my two most sensitive areas for arousal and play. I trace a heart over his chest in approval of our love and his lips move quickly to my mouth in agreement. “We’re all alone, my precious white dove. You can say, do, and move any way you’d like. Feel free to scream loudly in pleasure, or be as silent as a feather floating to the ground.”

“You’re so considerate of my needs when we make love. No one’s ever been as attentive during sex as you.”

“You do the same for me, Baby. Now, let me fuck you.” He rolls on top and I guide him inside. “You’re nice and wet. Slick. Warm. My dick was never this hard until I met you. My sweet indulgence... do you want me to go slow for you tonight?” He slides gradually inside and I throw my head back while gripping the sheets. “Or would you rather have a few deep, firm thrusts?” He drives into me four, five, six times, and stops. I grin in delight.

  “You smiling?” he asks.

  “Do it again.”

“What?” he asks while moving slowly, inch by inch, in and out. “That?” He reels his body down, his cock wider and longer than a moment ago. His hands clasp my wrists, holding them by my hips as he lunges forward and back, faster, harder, in a passionate attack over my body. He stops again and loops his tongue together with mine. “Fuck, Sophia. What an incredible feeling.”

He places his arms next to my shoulders and my hands are free to hold him closely against my body. I touch his back and run my fingertips down to seize his ass. His melodic sexual sounds grow in intensity as I tug his lower body into mine. The pleasure I feel causes a soft focus in my vision. I become engrossed by his delicate manipulation over my clit, the nips at my neck, ears, and lips, his shallow breathing, and our synched moans. My body is filled with his, all of our passion for one another gracefully flowing, building, and exploding into a kaleidoscopic sunset rush.

“I see flashes of light, Cove. The room is glistening in bright orange, yellow, and red sparks.”

“I must be doing something right,” he exhales.

He pulls out and disappears under the comforter. I scream and twist as his tongue circles my clit then sneaks between my lips, entering my inner space. He delves in, flutters, and is clearly excited to please.

“My God!” I grip his wavy dark hair with both hands and try to sink away from the wild pleasure. He won’t let me escape, setting his hands under my body to hold me in place. “Oh Cove! Do it, make me cum!” I yell. He sets a finger inside and presses against my spot as his tongue snakes over my clit. “Cove!” I burst. My legs and chest tighten and I’m paralyzed in a state of ecstasy. “Cove,” I whisper. He moves rapidly over my body and plunges his cock back inside. My muscles tense and squeeze around his length as he fucks me, bringing him into a flood of arousal.

“Ohh, mmm,” he moans and powers inside. His lips press against mine and our orgasms collide into a whirlwind of inaudible words with heavy panting, loud groans, and swift kisses. “I’m cumming, Sophia. Fuck, I’m cumming,” he explodes. I’m unable to mutter, still lost in my own unstoppable moment of pleasure. “I love you,” he whispers.

He falls next to me and our heated bodies lay alongside one another. Our chests rise and fall in sync with our racing hearts as small beads of sweat drip down our backs. “I love you too,” I’m finally able to force out between heavy gasps of air. “That was beautiful.”

“This is beautiful,” he whispers, as he takes my hand in his and kisses my forehead. “Us. Our lives from this day forward, will be beautiful.”

I smile and close my eyes. I’m tired now. We’ve been awake since dawn and my eyes are weighted down. I squeeze Cove’s hand in contentment and quickly fall asleep.

A pattering of the sound of steel BB’s against the bedroom windows wakes me up in the middle of the night. I open my eyes and see they are coated in a slick sheet of ice. We must be getting a storm. I walk over and peer through the distorted glass window and see ice pellets bouncing off the terrace furniture.

“Cove, you awake? You should see how pretty this is, like a surreal new world. The ice mixed in with the snow makes the entire city sparkle.” There’s no answer and I turn to the bed to see that’s it’s empty. “Cove?” I call out with no response. I walk to the second floor and check the pool, but it’s empty. The bouncing ice on the skylights in the room forms shadows in the water, reminding me of drops of rain on the city streets. Cove was definitely in here recently. A towel is laid over the back of one of the chairs, the concrete around the steps is dark where someone stepped out of the pool, and the sound system was left on with relaxing music filling the room. I pause for a moment and listen to the voice of Rufus Wainwright, and his echoing version of Halleluiah through the tall churchly space; Cove’s sacred area in the home. Where is he? I check the ground floor and then the hall. All quiet except for the distant sound of the music and the winter weather. “Cove?” I whisper and walk to the Everton’s door, placing my hand and ear against the wood. Only silence. I turn the handle and it opens. I shouldn’t enter the Everton’s home in the middle of the night, or ever, if I haven’t been invited. I know it isn’t polite, or even legal to do this, but I’m looking for Cove.

The entryway and living room are vacant and the upstairs is dark. “Cove?” I whisper. I walk over to the ground floor bedroom and notice the dim glow from a lamp radiating out. The door is open a crack and I extend my head slowly past the doorframe to view the room.

The walls are lined from floor to ceiling in black and white photographs of the Evertons, the three of them, Cove, his mother, and his father, all together in family photos from his childhood. Their arms extend around one another’s bodies and they smile, their faces full of joy and vibrancy. I scan the room and see one spot on the wall, directly above the headboard, that’s free of any image, a space that’s waiting to be filled with one significant photograph to complete their lives. My eyes fall to the bed. Cove’s parents are sound asleep on top of the comforter facing one another with their feet entwined, and there, between the two, is Cove. He’s curled into a fetal position locked under his father’s arm, protected, sheltered, and free from harm. I step back and tears roll down my cheeks for the comfort he must feel. As I turn to leave, I see Leondra’s camera on the side table next to the sofa. I grin, not hesitating to capture this family in such a special moment. This is the final image that fills the emptiness in all of us.
