“I know something’s been bothering you since we met. You told me about your life, and this is what you wanted; to be free and to be happy. And yes, I know you want to leave me too. And go where – out there?” I feel my temper rising. Could Alice be so ungrateful? I have been nothing but good to her.

I watch her shrink a little. She exhales laboriously. “I am a virgin.”

  “What?”

“I am a virgin, Erien,” she blurts out. Her face is red. She is embarrassed by it. I see nothing to be ashamed of. Her body is her choice. But why?

“Why are you telling me this?” I scrutinize her young face.

  She shifts uncomfortably. “I don’t know… I don’t want you to think I don’t like you.”

  “Do you like me?”

  “No. It’s not that… I… I love you Erien.”

My emotions choke in my throat. I swallow them hard. Though I try to hide my elation, my skin brightens up as it does whenever I am happy.

“Yesterday, I dreamt of you for the first time,” I confess.

She smiles. “What did you dream?”

“We were doing the wedding dance in front of my father.”

  “That’s cute.”

She clearly doesn’t understand it so I explain. I watch her eyes widen in horror as I tell her what happened at Sasha’s wedding dance. When I finish explaining, she is gaping at me. Have I said something wrong?

“Why was your father in the same room that your brother was making love?”

“It is just a ritual. It’s not like it happens all the time. She is his recognized bride now so there is nothing to hide.”

“Does that mean that your father can bed her too?” she asks, appalled.

I turn gray faster than she can blink. “How can you even think that?” I scream.

I storm out of the bedroom. How can she think such vile thoughts? It is no wonder that women are not allowed at the wedding dance. I pace the house, brooding. She is too beautiful to be thinking such awful things. My father is King, he can’t sleep with just anyone – let alone my brother’s betrothed. Can he? It is only gain after loyalty. What if my father wanted Sasha and the only way to get her is my brother? I feel sick. No, Alice has poisoned my mind. She may not be innocent as she seems. Yes, I’ve been a fool to trust her.

I decide to leave Alice. What she said is unforgivable. It is over between us.

  Chapter 17

  Erien

I return to the bedroom to tell Alice that our companionship is at an end. In all honesty, I do not know why I am so upset at her. She’d only asked a question. My mind says I am hasty in decisions. My adrenaline is only excited for an adventure. Alice is on the bed, rocking back and forth. She is upset. I upset her. She upset me. It didn’t have to end this way.

“You are leaving me,” she says.

“Alice, you said you have to go find yourself. I think I have lost myself too. I need to go find myself.”

I see her swallow hard. It is a bitter truth but it is truth all the same. She stands up on the bed. I stare up at her, wondering what she will do. She looks so tiny wrapped in the hotel bathrobe.

“Don’t make this about you. Just say it, Erien. Spit it! This is about me. You think I am boring and pathetic. You think I am holding you back from enjoying life!”

I reel back. The truth is bitter alright. Yet, I never meant to hurt her. I just don’t see how it will work out. If I have to sleep one more day next to her and not touch her, I will fuck her in her sleep. I am not that kind of man. And what she said about my father is almost unforgivable. Perhaps the thought of it is too cruel; the thought that it could be true. From the day my mother left us, my father has remained a free man. He is not tied by any silly wedding dance.

“How can you think something like that?” I ask Alice in my softest voice.

“I am sorry,” she says sincerely.

I decide that I won’t leave her. I am too attached to her. And without thinking it through, I say, “You have to be punished.”

  She nods.

  “Take off that bathrobe.”

She obeys me without a word of protest. The bathrobe slithers down her body. I am stunned. I didn’t expect her to be completely naked beneath it. I only meant to sit her on my lap then smack her buttocks until she begs me to stop. This changes everything. My balls ache for her in protest. My rigid body stands like a weapon against my belly. She has to see what she has done to me. Yes, that will be her punishment. She will see me naked, and then she will see how she can’t say no to me. I take off my clothes in a single gesture. Her eyes widen in awe. Her gaze is glued to my crotch. She can’t look at anything else.

“You have to be punished,” I sneer at her.

Her legs tremble with desire. She descends from the bed and comes to stand next to me. I make her halt at arms-reach. She mustn’t touch me. I want her to beg.

  “Yes, my king,” she says.

“Turn around and hold fast to the bed,” I say. “You will be smacked for your insubordination.”

She quivers. “Please, make love to me. I am ready.”

Alice brings herself toward me. I squeeze her breast until she flinches. Then I turn her around and direct her to the bed. I coerce her to bend over. Her breasts dangle like ripe fruit ready for plucking. All I want is to pin her on the bed and ride her, and then I will watch her breasts jiggle with each thrust. She will enjoy so much and cry for more. I really want that but she must learn not to tell me what to do. I will take her from behind so that she can only feel and not see. Yet Alice is a stubborn one and keeps turning to look at me as if I am a magnet to her eyes.

“Your punishment is to look away,” I warn her.

“I want to see you enter me. I want… I want-”

“It doesn’t matter what you want. What matters is what I want because I am your King! Now, look away.”

She forces her head forward. I smile. I will torture her the way she has tortured me. I hold my appendage with my hand. In deliberate slowness, I bring it to her clit. I tease her with it. I want her to be so wet so that my size does not hurt her little hole. She must want me badly if she is to enjoy me. Alice wriggles her ass in an attempt to force me into her. I do not give her the pleasure so she turns her head to me.

“Do you ever listen?” I am angry at her. She is so stubborn. “I said look away!”

  “I can’t!”

  “Then I will make you.”

I wheel around to the bed. There, I strip a pillow of its silk. I stride back to Alice and deftly wrap the silk around her eyes. She has to be punished. I direct Alice onto the bed and make her squat on all fours. My balls quake at the sight of the soft tissue between her legs. It is expanding and contracting rhythmically. It wants me. And I give it to her.

I hold Alice’s waist so that she is steady and in place when I thrust my hips forward. My rigid appendage plunges into her small hole. She cries out as a ripple of pain and pleasure rock her body. With both my thumbs, I squeeze the hole in her bums as I thrust in and out of the hole beneath it. Her muscles contract against my member plunging it deeper into her. She curves the small of her back until I am completely swallowed inside her.

Her body is shaking and Alice is crying – first it was from pain but now it is because she wants more of me. I rock my hips back and forth. Sweat drips down my face and I am so glad she can’t see the way my face contorts with each wave of pleasure. She is the most beautiful virgin I have ever had the pleasure of knowing and I intend to keep her mine forever. Tears come to my eyes. The tension that built up was so worth it and emotions well up in me as I release.

The orgasm that hits me transports me into ecstasy. For the first time in all the love-making I have ever done, I lose control. I no longer see Alice or the clit she has swallowed me in. All I see are stars and all I feel is the sensation of our bodies. This is better than any wedding dance can be. As I explode in a violent release, I scream out her name.

  “Alice. Marry me!”

>   Her orgasm squeezes me dry. Both spent, we fall onto the bed. We are exhausted but happy.

“Yes. Yes, I will marry you,” Alice says.

I drift into sleep with a smile on my face.

  Chapter 18

  Erien

A familiar voice speaks to me. I am still deep into sleep but I cannot mistake the tone of her voice. It can’t be. I must be dreaming. Still her voice rings in my ears so loudly. I snap my eyes open. Alice has her head on my chest in peaceful sleep. Her lips are partly open in a seductive way. I shake my head to clear my thoughts. No, I wasn’t dreaming. The voice is still loud and clear. It is coming from the living room.

Gently, I get out of bed so that I don’t wake Alice. She stirs a little but doesn’t awaken. I then tiptoe to the living room and I freeze in front of the television. I can’t believe what I see.

“Goodness. She is here! She is here!” I scream.

I must have been so loud because I wake Alicia up. I hear her voice ask, “What?”

  “Look. She’s on the hologram.”

I point at the television. Alice drags her feet. I am so excited. I grab her hand and lead her to the television. I keep pointing at it. She doesn’t seem as excited as me. She yawns and passes a hand through her bedraggled hair.

“She’s on the hologram,” I say again. “Make her speak to me.”

“That’s a television, Erien. And that’s Indigo, number one on Forbes richest women list. And that’s not even counting her assets. She owns a diamond mine in Africa or something.”

On television is a fair woman in her mid-forties. She doesn’t have a wrinkle to show for it. Alice clearly knows who Indigo is. I suppose everyone does as she is on the television. And rich, she says.

“Can you just help me?” I ask.

She starts to return to the bedroom but I hold her tight. Alice has to learn to take me seriously. “Erien, what’s wrong?”

“I can’t believe I have found her. Alice. I have found her.”

  “Found who?”

“My mother… Elertria Heluka, Queen of Solasis…” I suddenly feel sentimental, “I thought she was dead. Mother tree told me-”

“Mother who?” Alice is suddenly awake.

“But of course, she didn’t die. She came to hell! I know- I know it’s not…”

“Indigo is your mother?” Alicia does not seem to believe me. “You said you were from another planet or is she…”

The television segment cuts and they are showing another woman on it. Elertria… Indigo is no longer on it. I quickly return to my room. I didn’t realize how much I miss my mother. Alice follows me to the room. She watches as I scramble for clothes to wear.

“I have to go find her,” I say. “Will you help me?”

“Sure, just show me the birth certificate.”

“Birth what?” I ask. She groans. I don’t understand her. “Come on.”

“I don’t have any money for a cab,” Alice says.

  “I can fly.”

“You can’t just fly around here. The feds will have your wings.”

  “What wings?” I ask.

She asks. “Don’t you have a sense of humor?”

She plops on the bed. I must have made her extremely tired. We’d made love two more times during the nights, each in a different position. We Soleroids can make love for hours on end. I reckon it is not the same for her.

“Hmm, I don’t think you are funny at all,” I say.

She flinches. I can see the comment has jabbed her but I have my mother to find. Why is it so hard for me to convince Alice to do anything?

“I thought you trusted me,” I say out loud.

“I do trust you Erien… it’s just that things are moving too fast.”

“Don’t be lethargic. Things are moving too slow as they are.”

I dress up quickly. This time, I am clad in a designer I had picked from another fancy shop though I think it is really average compared to the custom tailors in Solasis. I hope Alice wears the long flowing red dress I had picked for her. She hasn’t worn any clothes I had gotten for her. She says she doesn’t want to be caught wearing stolen clothes even if I swear my father will pay for them, or my mother, as the case may be.

“Are you seriously going to wear that, again?” I ask her as she puts on her tank top. She can see the disgust on my face. I don’t mean to be very judgmental but I want my mother to be dazed when they meet. I am proud of Alice and I want my mother to be proud too.

“What do you want me to do? I have nothing else to wear!” I open the wardrobe and show her the ton of clothes she refuses to wear. She moans, “They are all stolen!”

“I am the Prince of freaking Solasis! I can buy this cheap planet if I want to-- now put on a decent dress,” I scold. “Why do you always want me to shout? I haven’t seen my mother in more than two decades and you are here fretting about some cheap material.”

“Erien.” She acts as if I am being unfair to her.

“If you didn’t want to marry me, Alice, you should have just said no!”

I storm out of the room. I can’t believe how difficult Alice is being. It infuriates me. If she won’t help me find my mother, I will go find her myself. After all, how hard can it be for one Soleroid to find another in this god-forsaken planet?

I bang the door shut on my way out, ignoring Alice’s cries for me to come back.

  Chapter 19

  Erien

Finding my mother wasn’t hard. It was the courage to walk up to her that was a menace. Would she recognize me? Oh, ridiculous. How could she not? But what if she didn’t? And worse of all, what if she wasn’t the one? I could have seen incorrectly. It is at this point that I wish Alice was there to encourage me. I understand she is scared to meet the most powerful woman on the planet, yet, she has slept with the most powerful man on the planet. I regret how mean I was to her, and make a mental note to apologize profusely when I return to the hotel. I know she will wait for my return with apologies of her own. That will have to wait… this cannot.

My mother lives in a villa on the outskirts of New York. It is not fenced but there are yards of trees to pass before getting to the mansion. She even has a small lake of her own in the backyard. There is also security everywhere. I make sure to scale up the trees and jump from canopy to canopy so that they don’t see me. I am not afraid of them. I just don’t want anyone to see me before my mother.

I spy on Elertria. She is basking in the sun next to an infinity pool. She is clad in shorts and a porous silk shirt. Her eyes are protected by shades so I am uncertain whether she is asleep or not. When a maid appears to pour her a glass of wine, I am convinced that she is awake. I watch her for hours before she finally stands up. There is no one else in the vicinity so I know this is my chance.

I shut my eyes. Then gracefully, I run the length of the canopy and then do a backflip, to land squarely at the edge of the pool. It is an elegant landing. Elertria has her back turned to me as she is entering the house. Even though I don’t make any noise, she stops. She still has her Soleroid instincts.

“Son?” I hear her voice. She is choked with emotion.

I walk slowly to her. “Mother?”

She turns abruptly. There are silvery tears in her eyes. She is indeed my mother. Though on television she hadn’t had a wrinkle, here I can tell that she has two on her forehead that shows when she frowns. She is still as beautiful as ever. Her full copper green hair is cut short in a bob cut in a way to compliment her straight nose and make her appear more fierce than kind. She has lost a bit of weight but has maintained her height and stature. Her aura is just like I remember it.

“Mother!” I throw my hands around her.

“Erien. How did you ever find me?”

We cry in each other’s arms. It is a reunion I have never imagined would happen yet here she was. Our embrace was unbroken for nearly half an hour. We didn’t say anything, we just held each other. I was so small I could sit in her lap when she left my life
. Now I am so big I can carry her. I touch the skin on her arm.

“Your skin,” I break away from her.

Elertria touches her skin. It is smooth. The little scales that show that is from Solasis are nearly gone. If one didn’t know they were there, they would never guess.

“I wanted to forget the past, Erien. I have had them removed – perks of being the richest woman alive. People will do anything for the coin,” she says.
