"That was a good thing you did," Mrs. Perrin said, picking up the coffee mugs and placing them by the pump sink.
"It wasn't without personal motivation," I said, glancing at Emily.
She seemed to be relieved, at peace. Finally.
"I'm glad it all worked out. I knew you were the one for Mr. Blake, no doubt about it," Mrs. Perrin told Emily.
"Do you think you might be able to teach me to cook?"
The woman looked surprised, but only momentarily. "Of course. "
"I don't think it will be easy, but I am curious."
I pulled my wife into my side, hugged her tightly. "Oh, Mrs. Perrin. Her curiosity is going to be the death of us."
I kissed the top of Emily's head and reveled in my life. In just a few short days, I'd gotten the wife I'd always wanted. With the attraction between us as strong as it was, it wouldn't just be the two of us for long. We wouldn't just be building a life together, but a family.
