The Best Part of Me

“Let me hurry up. I’m taking my time with you like this my crib.” He chuckled while standing to his feet in front of her.

Kayson undressed way faster than he’d undressed her. Goody’s eyes automatically went to his penis. It was just as light as him and cute. Bigger than the last boy’s had been and weighed in pretty decently. She was impressed.

After putting on a condom that had come out of nowhere, Kayson had her covers pushed back with him seated on the side of the bed again in no time. “Sit on my lap.”

Apparently, the look on her face told him all he needed to know because he requested no more of her. She wasn’t sure what he was used to, but Goody wasn’t any of the older girls he hit on the regular. The attention he paid to that gave him cool points in her mind.

By the time he was hovered over her, still kissing her neck and lips, she was ready to be whatever those other girls were for him. He was making her feel better than she’d ever felt in her life, and she wasn’t sure how to handle it.

“Goody, I already love you like my sister.” He rose slightly as his hand fumbled between their legs.

“I want you to love me like your girlfriend for a little while,” Goody interrupted, cutting off whatever platonic excuse he was about to offer for having sex with her. She was young, but she wasn’t a baby, so he didn’t have to coddle her. “Just for today,” she eased her rush of words from before. “I won’t think you’re my boyfriend or anything like that.”

Kayson’s face was as serious as it had ever been before, and that was new because he was one person who was always smiling.

“You can think whatever you want, Goody. I’ma love you regardless.” He pecked her mouth and pushed the head of himself into her.

She gasped, and he covered her mouth with his before pushing all the way in and groaning.

Goody clasped her legs tightly around his waist and held onto him. Her eyes were closed as her body quivered from his entry. His movements were slow and filled with so much emotion that she could feel it without him having to say anything. Their bodies moved together like they’d been made as a pair, meant to have sex with only each other.

“I’m sorry,” Goody whispered once she realized she’d scratched his back. “I didn’t mean to do that.”

“Goody, you so fucking good.” His eyes fluttered as he looked at her. “Fuck them scratches.” He pushed deeper, wrapping one of his arms around her and lifting her from the bed some. “You feel better?”

Payson was looking in her eyes and making her want to cry again. This time, for totally different reasons. She was sure she wasn’t in love with Kayson or anything, but being with him after such a heartbreaking moment made her feel like she was.

When she nodded, he pecked her lips a few more times while simultaneously moving in and out of her. Goody wanted to be there with him forever but dared not to say it. The last thing she needed to do was make him regret making love to her.

“Don’t worry about that nigga no more. He lame. Plus, I like you.”

Dang, there were the tears. Goody sniffed them back the best she could, but when she felt them rolling down her cheeks, she knew she hadn’t been successful.

“You can cry to me, it’s alright. I won’t tell nobody. I’m better than him, anyway.”

Goody’s body quaked in response to his words when it should have been crying. That was the very first lie of many. He might have been better than Mark at that moment, but forever... nah, he was a straight liar for that. However, at that moment, in her bed with her brother’s best friend, none of that mattered. Instead, sexy words were on the tip of her lips, but too bad the loud banging on her door startled them both. With wide eyes, they looked from the door and back to each other.

  “Goody! Kayson!”

Messiah! Goody’s eyes nearly bucked out of her head.

  Chapter One

I Need Some Time to Myself

“Dang, you sexy as hell in that, Goody.” Forever’s appreciation held just the amount of feeling that Goody needed to purchase the overpriced lace. “Kayson is going to get you pregnant tonight.”

Goody’s eyes widened as did her smile. Her hand ran along the front of the lingerie before stopping at the ribbon that was holding it closed.

“Since that’s the plan, I guess I’m going to get it. I did not want to spend this much, but whatever works.” Goody’s tone dropped some.

Her sister wouldn’t have been who she was if she hadn’t picked up on it. Forever grabbed Goody’s hand and held it. When Goody finally looked at her, Forever’s eyes were serious.

“Don’t think like that. All marriages have their ups and downs. Whatever he has going on has nothing to do with you.”

“I know, but it should, shouldn’t it? What kind of husband has problems that he doesn’t talk to his wife about?”

Forever hugged Goody. “The kind that has nothing to do with you. Maybe even the kind that he doesn’t want to stress you out about. You know how Kayson is when it comes to you. He feels like he has to protect you from everything.”

Forever rolled her eyes before she and Goody laughed together. The way Kayson shielded Goody from everything had been an ongoing joke since they began dating in high school. It stemmed from him hiding their relationship from Messiah, but as time grew, it was obvious to anyone who happened to be in their company. Kayson treated Goody like a prize, and what did you do with prizes? Guard and protect them from anyone who might want it.

“You’re his to keep. Doesn’t he always tell you that?”

Goody paused, then nodded. “Thanks, Rabbit. You’re always so level headed. I’d be bat shit crazy without you.”

Forever, who they affectionately called Rabbit, grinned. “I should slap you for calling me that, but yes, yes you would.”

“Let me go pay for this mess before I walk around too long and change my mind.” Goody proceeded to get dressed while Forever sat on the dressing room bench and hung the lingerie back on its hanger.

When they were done shopping for everything they needed to decorate Goody’s house for Valentine’s Day, they left the mall and headed to get started. With the two of them working, it wasn’t long before red balloons were floating from her front door to her living room, rose petals littered the walkway to her home and throughout the house, while candles glowed from an array of hidden places.

Some of R&B’s best played softly while a decorated blanket lay in the middle of the floor. Forever was at the counter cutting fresh fruit and allowing the asparagus to finish cooking, while Goody had just gotten out of the shower and was adding lotion and body butter to her skin. Before dressing in her purchase from earlier, Goody marveled at her petite frame checking for anything that might have been out of place.

Only a size three and never having gained enough weight to push her past that, Goody’s body didn’t harbor too many flaws. Her stomach was flat, thighs and arms were toned, long, slim legs, and a perfect set up breasts that sat up admirably; she really didn’t have much to complain about.

Unless, she thought about how Kayson was a butt man, and hers was the size of a middle school girl. If that wasn’t enough, he had a thing for dark-skinned women, and she was fairly light in her opinion. Even with neither of those being deal breakers, Kayson was ambitious and always wanted more out of life, and Goody, well, Goody was just making it.

She had a passion for music and had written some of the best songs to date, but nothing had happened yet. Her music was still a hobby, not bringing in too much money yet, so Kayson wasn’t the biggest fan of it. Rapping held her heart, but so did Kayson. So, on more days than one, she had to choose. Being the overly in love wife, and feeling somewhat inferior to him, her music took a backseat to her boring nine to five and his passion for numbers.

Good at math and as charismatic as necessary, it took nothing for Kayson to build his career as one of the best accountants in the city. He was good, good. So good that he had enough money to keep them comfortable whether she worked or not
, and that was a plus since she’d considered quitting her job for months now.

“Don’t you think you should put some clothes on?”

Forever’s comment had Goody jumping out of her skin. She’d been so caught up in looking at herself that she hadn’t even heard her coming.

“I should have scared your butt. Up here naked like you ain’t got stuff that needs to be done.”

Goody laughed and grabbed her clothes to put on. “Shut up, heffa. You make me sick.”

“Sure, I do.” Forever walked into Goody’s massive walk-in closet and stared at all her shoes. There were sneakers and heels from one wall to the next. “What shoes you putting on? I would grab these sexy black heels right here, but the way your man is set up, he would probably get turned on more by a pair of these tennis shoes.”

Goody was laughing when she joined Forever in the closet. “You’re right. The patent leather ones would look sexy with this, huh?”

Forever turned her nose up and rolled her eyes. “No, hoe. Put on some heels and stop being so damn tacky all the time.”

Goody’s laughter took over her as she clumsily strapped up the heels that Forever had handed her. They were an extra tall pair that Kayson had gotten her on their trip to London last summer. Goody paused and grabbed her chest as she recollected on the love they made on the balcony of their hotel that night.

They’d shopped and drank until neither of them could stand. By the time they’d made it back to their room, they were all lips and hands. The best sex ever had to be when you were drunk because she shivered at the thought of that orgasm.

“Yesssssss, sexy!” Forever snapped and clapped at Goody’s appearance. “You fine as fuck, sis, for real. If I was into girls, I’d have to steal you from this li’l nigga husband of yours.”

  “Shut up, man.”

Forever snatched the scarf Goody was wearing off her head, making her long hair tumble down.

“Dang, take my head off, why don’t you?” Goody grabbed the dresser to keep herself from falling, while Forever stood by, dying laughing.

“My bad, I ain’t know I pulled it that hard.”

Goody’s wild expression only made Forever laugh harder. “Obviously! Got my darn neck hurting.”

“You’re just doing too much now.” Forever began to comb Goody’s hair as she sat on the bed. “I want you to have this same energy with Kayson when he gets to pulling your hair and choking you tonight.”

“Nope, he can break my neck and snatch me bald if he wants to. You, on the other hand, are going to get knocked out if you snatch on me like that again.”

Forever shook her head. “And here I am thinking you really loved me.”

“I do love you, but you don’t dick me down like he does.” Goody cheesed, and Forever rolled her eyes.

“Well, since I don’t know nothing about that life, my understanding of your foolishness still isn’t there.”

“Man, Rabbit, you need to get you a man. I don’t know how you do it. I’d have to at least let a man touch on it, lick it, or something. That li’l twat probably suffocating down there.”

“Nope, it’s not. It’s just fine, thank you very much. All that licking and touching don’t get you nothing but a baby, a disease, or something else you don’t damn want, and I’m good on that.”

“All its going to take is the right man. That tune will change real quick.”

“Paradise, I’m twenty-eight-years-old and ain’t met a man yet who has changed my mind, so, like I said, I doubt it.”

Goody screamed and began to punch the air, making Forever jump back in a panic.

“Paradise, what the hell is wrong with you?”

“Hearing you say that made me mad for your pussy. I bet that bitch down there fighting to get out. Twenty-eight years? Hoe, you crazy. Ain’t no way. I’d be in a nut house pulling my hair out if I’d been a virgin for that long.”

After a quick suck of her teeth and a slap upside the back of Goody’s head, Forever went back to fixing her hair.

“I can’t stand your dumb ass.”

Goody was laughing so hard she had to hold her stomach. She and her younger cousin, Yummy, were always making fun of Forever’s non-existent sex life, and she got the same pissy attitude every time. It was hilarious.

After another ten minutes of sisterly banter, Forever left, and Goody prepared for her man. With her phone in her hand, she dialed his number. Since she was home alone, she placed it on speakerphone.

“Hey, baby, I’m almost done here,” Kayson rushed to say before she could even part her lips.

“How much longer? I’m waiting for you.”

“Shouldn’t be too long, but my mama called, and she needs me to come by and help her move some furniture real quick.”

Goody’s frowned. “Move some furniture, Kayson? Really? You can’t be serious right now.”

Kayson sighed. “I am, baby, but I promise it won’t be too long.”

“I know it won’t because you’re not doing that. It’s already after five o’clock. The whole day is already gone as is, and you’re going to go move furniture?”

“Goody, look, I said I’m coming, alright? I don’t feel like arguing about this. I have enough going on already.”

“Whatever, bye.” Goody hung up and tossed her phone onto the floor.

She was so pissed off that she started to kick the bucket of ice and wine across the floor but stopped. That wouldn’t do anything but give her something else to clean up later. She’d made a big enough job for herself already with the decorations that she and Forever had tossed everywhere.

Aggravated to the max with Kayson and his raggedy mother, Goody flopped down on the sofa and kicked her shoes off. His mother had always had something against her, so her sudden urge to move furniture on Valentine’s Day wasn’t surprising. The fact that Kayson’s stupid self was actually going along with it was what irritated her the most. He should have had more sense than that.

“Dumb ass. Let his mama give him some pussy then,” Goody fumed before standing and walking to the window.

The long leather bench she had placed there for when she had creative moments became her place of comfort for the next three hours. With her notebook and pen, she made magic, totally forgetting about Kayson. Well, somewhat. The song she’d just written was definitely about him, as was the most of them. Some more beautiful than others, but them all spilling her truth.

By the time he rolled his black, ungrateful ass up in their house, it was darn near nine o’clock at night. Goody’s food was cold, her candles had burned out, and her body was closed. She had nothing to say to that fool. He could have Valentine’s Day and whatever woman he’d spent it with, whether it was his mama or some other hoe. Goody was straight on celebrating. All she wanted to do right then was punch him for all the money she’d spent that day.

“Damn, baby, you did all of this for me?” Kayson was at the door in his dress pants and shirt.

Goody cut her eyes over her shoulder and stood to her feet. She gave him a quick once over and walked right past him. He caught her hand before she could get too far.

“Don’t be mad. I got something for you.”

Unfazed, Goody stood in front of him. He smiled and dropped his briefcase before running outside to his truck. With not one ounce of excitement in her body, Goody yawned.

“Close your eyes,” he yelled while peeking his stupid head in the door.

Goody blinked a few times out of pure annoyance but eventually closed them. Moments later, she was led up the stairs, him coaxing her to keep her eyes closed the whole time. When she finally stopped, he let her go, and she heard water running. Goody turned her nose up because she knew like hell this nigga wasn’t running her no bathwater when she’d already taken a bath.

Seconds later, her suspicions were confirmed when he began removing her expensive outfit. He kissed her shoulder here and there along the way. Finally naked, he helped her into the water. All her lotion and Fenty body cream
gone to waste. Really on edge then, Goody opened her eyes. Kayson was in the middle of the floor stripping.

He had their mobile speaker playing music again with a sign propped up on it. The words, “Paradise’s Spa” were scribbled on it. At that moment, if she could have set him on fire and stomped him out, she would have. There was literally not an ounce of thought in his gift, and all she wanted to do was cry or die. One of the two would work.

“I know you’re always talking about how tired you are, and you never have time to take care of yourself, so I figured I’d do it for you. After your bath, I’m going to give you a manicure and pedicure.” His smile was so big, you would have thought he’d done something spectacular.

With no words, Goody lay back in the water and closed her eyes again. She couldn’t even look at that fool. So, of course, when he joined her in the water and grabbed her foot, she was repulsed.

“Baby, open your eyes and talk to me.”

Goody’s eyes opened slowly. She stared at him across the tub, saying nothing.

“Let’s talk, enjoy each other’s company.”

“A bath, Kayson? That’s it? You’ve been gone all day, and now you want me to be okay with a fucking bath that I could have run myself?”

“I figured the water would relax and clean us before we get our night started.”

Goody nodded and closed her eyes again. She wasn’t about to do that with him. Had she known back then that the bath was necessary to clean all of his girlfriend’s juices off him, she would have drowned his muthafucking ass. Talking about relax and clean. Yeah, nigga, clean all of the sex you’d just had right off that nasty dick of yours.

“I said, I need some time to myself. I was very clear about that.” Goody rolled her eyes while walking through the double doors leading to the stage.

“I gave you some time. I’ve washed my car, went to Walmart, and stopped by the gym on my way home. That’s more than enough time.”
