Not That Kind of Love

“Where is his office?” I made a face. I had not heard from him all morning.

“Go across, around the elevators and follow the wall to the back.” My eyes narrowed.

“That’s where the department head sits.” Hannah nodded. I stalked out and followed her directions. Jamie was at his desk looking at a lot of paper. I went in when he motioned and closed the door. “What’s up?” I asked nonchalantly.

“Is one of those for me?” I suddenly remembered the yogurt and put it in front of him with a spoon. “You worked on the Cross project?” I nodded as I spooned cherry yogurt into my mouth. “Did you make copies of the charts that you did?” I nodded again. “I need them. Someone has misfiled half of the paperwork that should be with this. I can’t find the charts, analysis, agreement and I don’t know what all.” He opened his yogurt and dug in. I reached across to take some of the papers, his hand stilled mine and I glanced up raising an eyebrow. He let go of me. I pulled the papers toward me and turned them around. I pointed to a list of numbers at the bottom of the cover sheet. Jamie didn’t understand. I threw my empty yogurt cup away as I rounded his desk. I leaned across him and opened an icon on his desktop. His hand glided up the inside of my leg.

“Stop it.” I hissed. He dropped his hand. “If you click here, and enter those numbers,” I tapped them quickly in, “It will tell you who had this paperwork and in what order. It will tell you what they worked on and what forms they still have.” I turned to look at his face, he looked hurt. “Jamie?” He let out the breath he’d been holding. “We are only colleagues here. I am more than willing to let you do that at home, but not here. Look what you’ve done to yourself.” I tipped my head towards his lap. He grimaced. “I eat lunch at noon if you care to join me in my office, I’d love to hear how your day is going.” I smiled and he brightened. “Let’s see, Kristin has all of this paperwork and she is in your contract associate pool. Come with me.” I motioned with my finger gathering up the paperwork to the Cross project. He followed me out to the room of cubicles outside of his office. Jamie could easily see over the tops of them across the room, I wasn’t tall enough. They were all a rose color on this side, on my side they were a depressing blue. I went down a row and turned up another. Kristin, a middle aged plump woman, was at her desk playing solitaire on her phone. “If you move that one to there,” I pointed with my pen. “You will be able to clear the screen.” I watched her face change through a spectrum of pinks. “Kristin, this is James Flanagan.” He stuck out his hand for her to shake it. She did, flushing a deeper red. “He just started today and he is currently working on the Cross project. The file says that you have several documents that belong in the file, do you still have them?” She nodded and began frantically digging through papers on her desk. She found them easily enough and handed them to me. “Thank you Kristin.” I touched her shoulder. “Mr. Flanagan may need help with some other projects throughout the day. Will you have time to assist him?” She nodded. “That’s great, what is your extension number?”

  “Uh, 37804.” She mumbled.

“It seems that we’ve embarrassed Kristin by catching her on a break, but I assure you Mr. Flanagan she does excellent work and she is very helpful, feel free to call on her anytime, 37804.” Jamie smiled that glorious Jamie smile and I watched her melt. She would be at his beck and call for all eternity. “If you don’t need anything else from me Mr. Flanagan, I will get back to work, sir.” His brow went up and he graced me with the lopsided smile that I loved so very much.

“Thank you Ms. O’Brien, very much.” I could feel him watching me walk away, it made me smile too.

“Hey Michelle?” Pete Nelson caught me as I passed several rows over. “Can you help me with this?” I went into his cubicle and sat down. “Do you see how the figures here aren’t…?” I pulled my chair close to his and looked at the screen with him. I felt his arm rest on the back of my chair and it made me slightly uncomfortable but I didn’t say anything.

“Oh Pete, I see, you have your formula wrong, see?” I grabbed his mouse leaning closer to him and dragged the column to correct the formula. His arm came up around my shoulder to give me a squeeze of thanks.

“Hey, where do you get off buddy?” Pete’s voice was suddenly raised and angry. I turned and there was Jamie holding Pete’s wrist away from me.

“Go to your office Michelle.” I got up and left the cubicle giving Jamie a scornful glance. Jamie was in charge of this section and apparently my superior now since he was the new head of the contract department. He could discipline me if he wanted to, that would make for an interesting ride home, and better dinner conversation. When I returned to my desk, my email pinged. I opened it, it was from Pete. He ‘sincerely apologized for touching me inappropriately and promised that it would not happen again.’ I quickly wrote back and assured him that there were no hard feelings, I blind copied Jamie. Liam strolled into my office then and sat down in my visitor chair.

“Hi Michelle.” I smiled tenuously. “Don’t panic, I’m not here to ask for a date.” I relaxed. “I thought you could give me a good way to approach Flanagan. We are going to have to work together on something and I’m pretty sure that he is going to remember me.” He winced. I covered my giggle.

“Tough one.” I winced back at him then smiled. “Do you want a coffee?” I offered. He nodded and I asked Hannah to get them. I sighed. “Uh how are you with sports?” He shrugged. “He’s a big hockey freak but the season is over. Your only option is going to be baseball but I don’t know how to tell you to….”

“Michelle?” Jamie said from the door. Shit! My mind screamed.

“Hey, come in. Liam and I were just talking about you.”

“I’ll bet you were.” He looked Liam over coldly. Liam stood to shake his hand but Jamie didn’t move. I stood up and rounded the desk to put my hand on Jamie’s arm.

“Jamie?” I cajoled. “Liam works upstairs and he was on his way to see you but stopped here to ask me how he should approach you since your last meeting was less than friendly. It would be really great if you could work cooperatively with Liam since none of what happened between us was his fault. You guys could profit greatly from cooperation. Mr. Robichaux has great respect for you both.” Jamie put his hand out to shake Liam’s now and gave Liam a genuine smile, Liam returned it and shook his hand. “Be on your way gentlemen.” I went back around to my seat. I heard Hannah giving Liam his coffee, he thanked her then went on chattering about the game that was on last night. Jamie joined in debating the batting roster. Hannah brought my coffee in and closed the door.

“That was close.” She wiped her brow. I laughed.

“Tell me about it.” I leaned back in my chair.

“I heard Pete Nelson is being warned for sexual harassment.” She said. I turned ashen.

“Damn it Jamie.” I cursed. “I won’t sign it.” I spat.

“It was you?” Hannah asked and I nodded.

“I was helping Pete with a spreadsheet and he squeezed my shoulders, Jamie had a problem with it. When I got back to my desk, Pete had already sent me an apology. He really didn’t do anything wrong, if I had a problem with it, I would have said so.”

“Jamie is a department head now Michelle, you don’t have to sign it, he can place the charge on your behalf.” Hannah insisted.

“Well, crap.” I pulled out my cell and texted Jamie to cease and desist on Pete. I told him that I would be very pissed if he continued with any sort of discipline, and when was he going to tell me that he was a department head? My cell pinged immediately. He answered not to worry. He had not proceeded with the discipline and already realized that he overreacted, lunch at noon? I answered yes.

Jamie came into my office and shut the door then turned the blinds so they were also closed. He came around the desk and pulled me out of my chair to kiss me. “I’ve wanted to do that all day.” He murmured against my lips. “I missed you.” I nuzzled his chest and let my hands travel up underneath of his jacket to glid
e over the muscles of his gorgeous back. “So this is okay?” He whispered against my ear sending a thrill through me. I nodded and turned my face up to kiss him again. “Okay, let’s eat before we get all hot and bothered.” Jamie slapped my rear end making me smile heatedly. “Oh you really do like that, don’t you?” His smile turned wicked. I picked up my lunch bag and set about getting my lunch out stifling a smile. I got up again and stuck my head out of the door.

“Hannah? I will be at lunch for thirty minutes.”

“Yes ma’am.” She answered. I turned the wand to the blinds and opened them slightly.

“We don’t want to arouse suspicion.” I said pointedly to Jamie who was already eating his chicken salad. “So you’re the new department head I hear.” He nodded.

“I thought you knew, didn’t they send a memo or something?” I shook my head.

“You could’ve told me Jamie, I had to hear that from Hannah.”

“It doesn’t matter what my title is Mich as long as we’re together and you’re happy.” He watched me pick at my food. “If it’s a problem, I’ll quit.” He offered.

“No. Don’t be silly. I just thought that you would’ve mentioned it is all.”

“It didn’t matter to me. I’m working in contracts like I wanted to. The work is the same except now I have to write evaluations too.” He shrugged. “Kristin and Matt have agreed to be my PA’s. I am keeping her very busy, no more solitaire. Liam turned out to be a nice guy once I got over him trying to steal my girl.” He grinned. “Pete won’t bother you again either. He was schooled at length on where his hands should be when a lady is present.”

“Jamie.” He put both hands up at me.

“I would’ve done the same if my sister had been sitting there and I would hope that if my sister was sitting there someone would protect her as well. It was not all because it was you, but more so that it was not appropriate and I won’t tolerate it in my department.” I nodded.

“Okay, as long as you weren’t going caveman on me.” He shook his head.

“How are you feeling?” I shrugged. “I’m in the mood for basketball. Do you want to shoot some hoops after work?” I nodded.

“We haven’t done that in awhile, sure.” He put his trash in my can and got up. “Unless,” I paused, “there is something else you would rather do? I’m not finished with my cycle and you can say no, I’ll understand but instead of hoops, I would rather shower with you.” I glanced up nervously.

“We can do both.” He winked and picked up his lunch box. “Are you in the staff meeting at one?” I nodded. “I’ll see you there.” Jamie left me alone. I’d forgotten about the meeting, DDA again.

Surprisingly, Jamie sat at the opposite end of the table and ignored me. I wondered about it but took notes quietly as I usually did. I noticed that Lisa hurled herself into the seat next to Jamie and did her best to capture his attention throughout the meeting and stopped him to have a private conversation afterward. I gathered my things and walked out with Mark, a senior vice president who wrapped an arm casually around my waist. I could feel Jamie’s eye boring into my back. “How is Lee?” I asked Mark.

“Oh Lee is wonderful. I think Lee’s company is putting on the barbeque this year. Are you coming Michelle?”

“Of course Mark, I wouldn’t miss it. Should I bring anything?”

“Just yourself and a date if you like, it is for families. I’ll see you there.” Mark touched my hand and went into the elevator. I kept walking but I could hear Jamie’s footsteps coming up quickly behind me.

“Are you ready to go?” He asked. I noticed the tone in his voice.

“Yep, are you done with everything?” I cast a glance over my shoulder.

“I think so. I will meet you at the elevator?” I nodded and turned to go to my office. Hannah was watching me she looked frantic.

“What’s wrong?” I could see she was visibly shaken.

“Michelle, I hate to do this to you. I have to take a week or two off. My sister is in the hospital, she was in a car crash earlier.” I wrapped her in my arms. I could see that she was barely holding it together.

“Hannah, if there is anything that you need, you just say so and it’s yours. Do you need a ride to the airport?” I knew her sister lived in Michigan. I saw Jamie watching us curiously over her shoulder and he was heading our way, it was rare for me to hug anyone. “Can I do anything to help?” I held her by the shoulders at arm’s length. Hannah was trembling all over. Jamie approached and gave me a look. I explained what was happening. He asked Hannah a few questions and started tapping on his phone.

“Hannah?” Jamie had her by the shoulders now. “I have you booked on a flight in two hours. Michelle and I will drive you home and take you to the airport. When you are ready to return home, call Michelle and we will pick you up. You take your time and take care of your sister. I will take care of everything here. Okay?” He gave her a little shake. She nodded.

“Thank you Mr. Flanagan.” Jamie was texting on his phone again.

“It’s all settled, let’s get going ladies.” Jamie urged us to move. I grabbed Hannah’s things and mine and walked her to the elevator. I helped her to her car and put her in the passenger seat. I drove Hannah’s car to her house while Jamie followed in the Mustang. He waited outside while I helped Hannah quickly pack a bag. We took her to the airport and saw her to her gate. Hannah had calmed down and hugged me goodbye when they called her flight.

“Take care of your sister.” Her eyes were bright and wet.

“Thank you both, so much.” She hugged each of us again then went to the gate. I waited until she disappeared down the corridor before I would leave.

“Now you’re all mine.” Jamie wrapped his arms around me and held me. He buried his face in my hair and inhaled deeply. “I want you.” He murmured. Desire stirred my blood. “First though, let’s go eat.” He gave my hand a tug and led me through the airport to a restaurant. “Is steak okay?” He asked as we went inside. It sounded delicious and smelled even better as we entered. Jamie and I sat on the same side of a dimly lit corner booth. He ordered us steaks with baked potatoes and iced tea.

“So tell me about your first day?” I sipped my tea and looked up at him.

“Hmm, there’s a cute girl in accounting. I don’t know if she’s interested though, I see her with all of the other boys but she doesn’t seem to pay much attention to me.” He leaned over and nuzzled my neck. “But I really want to do her.” He murmured against my ear, I squirmed in my seat and chewed on my bottom lip. “She oozes sex and I’m betting she has the sweetest little pussy.” My face went crimson as he nibbled my earlobe.

“Jamie!” I admonished. “Stop.” I told him playfully.

“You know you love it. When we get home, I am going to crawl inside of you and stay there all night.” He murmured against my ear. My blood was beginning to buzz and my groin throbbed. I wanted him to do just that. The waitress came with our plates and refilled our glasses. I ate quickly in a hurry to get home with him. Jamie ate slowly, savoring each bite.

“Why are you tormenting me?” I asked quietly. “Eat faster.”

“Oh this is torment for you? I have a whole other definition, like when I saw that asshole’s arm around you. Then after the staff meeting when you walked out arm in arm with a senior staff member, that was torment. Here I am the new guy and you left me in that room with that red headed predator.” Jamie’s eyebrow quirked at me and then he scowled. I put my fork and knife down gently and wiped my mouth with my napkin. I took a long sip of tea from the straw making him wait for my response. I folded and laid my napkin down on the table beside my plate.

“Yes, this is torment for me because you promised me something before the meal came and I expect you to follow through. As for the asshole earlier, I am in no way fathomable interested in anyone but you. He put his arm across my chair and it may have been inappropriate but it certainly did not merit a sexual harassment case. I do appreciate your protecting me
from him though and I would like to reward you for all of your good deeds today. Now, the senior executive that you are apparently are so jealous of, is gay. I was asking him about his partner Lee, who is the gayest man you will ever meet but he is also the smartest and funniest person I have ever been introduced to and I dearly love spending time with him. When I sit down at the company barbeque with Lee and laugh until I pee, don’t take it personally.” He was watching me, concentrating on my mouth. “I also want to thank you for being so sweet to Hannah. You made her situation so much easier than it may have been. If you are finished eating Jamie, I would like for you to crawl inside of me and stay all night now, if you are over your tantrum.” He turned and signaled the waitress for the check, his steak was half uneaten but it did not seem to matter.

Jamie threw his to go box in the refrigerator and plugged in his cell phone to charge, I did the same. I went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth. He opened the door and told me to spit, the look in his eyes told me not to argue. When I did he grabbed me throwing me over his shoulder and carried me to the bedroom. I squealed and smacked his rear end. “You know what that will get you.”

“Oh I am counting on it.” He dropped me unceremoniously on the bed. I pulled my clothes off quickly throwing them toward the laundry basket.

“Now where was I?” He said when he was nude. Jamie jerked me onto his lap, his hand creating a resounding smack across my rear. The sensation echoed over my nerves setting my blood on fire. The second forced a moan from my throat. He turned me then onto my back. My breaths quickened into short shallow pants.

“Oh Jamie, wait, I’m still…” He knew what I meant, pulling me to my feet and toward the master bathroom. He turned the water on in the shower and tested it. I filled his cup and rinsed the toothpaste residue from my mouth. Pulling me in after him under the spray, he pressed my back to the wall. His mouth began a slow libidinous exploration of mine. His warm hands cupped my face, cradled my head, tilting it to allow deeper access. I wanted him, I needed him. My hands glided over the muscles of his belly and chest. The orgasm that he was creating inside of me dipped and swirled, quickened and circled my womb, growing heavier on every turn, deeper every second. Jamie reached between my legs and pulled the tampon free dropping it into the toilet outside the shower. His eyes gazed into mine. His fingers worked inside of my sex, one then two, his thumb on my clitoris turning the muscles in my legs to jelly. My arms circled his neck holding on as he pulled my knee up, my leg hung over his forearm. Jamie trailed kisses from my temple to my jaw. His teeth scraped the skin there and lower down my throat to the hollow at the base, over my collar bone. The orgasm circled growing stronger and more intense. He entered me in one long smooth stroke forcing an ‘Oh!’ from me. It felt so good being so open to him. Jamie thrust into me again and the greedy muscles of my channel grabbed for him then disintegrated into a long glorious flutter around him. Jamie moaned into my hair thrusting harder, I burst into a million shards of white hot heat and light. My head canted, my hips thrust against him urging him on, urging him deeper. My fingers raked his shoulders. I screamed for God and came again harder still. Jamie was losing control I felt it in the way his shoulders tensed, the way his belly tensed and I cried his name as we came together.
