Bear's Pup [Rescue for Hire 1] (Siren Publishing Classic ManLove) Page 5

by Bellann Summer

It seemed strange that this Keith fellow that had been involved with the pup’s captor couldn’t be found. His name had never turned up on any of the reports from the flooding river disaster. Tony, his best investigator on the team, was looking into the guy. But it was like he didn’t even exist. The details of how he encouraged and even seemed to get off on Dirk abusing Bret were insane.

Then there was the apartment break-in and damage to all of his possessions. On top of that, the day after their date at the hotel he had received a call from the hotel manager concerning his inquiries on who had pushed Bret. Seems several people saw a tall, skinny, disheveled man in the doorway right after Bret fell. They all said he immediately disappeared somewhere. Cade always listened to his gut and it was telling him something was up.

“When are you going into town, baby?” Leaning down, Cade pushed aside that shiny mop of blond hair and started nibbling on Bret’s neck. “Remember to let me know when you get there and when you are starting back.”

“You know I’m not a real baby. I can manage to get to town and back just fine.” Bret pushed a bit.

Before Bret’s next breath, he was hauled out of the chair and up into his bear’s arms. Instinctively, he wrapped his legs around the big man’s waist. Those deep blue eyes were hard. Shit, he may have pushed for the wrong kind of attention. Then he felt a pressure poking him against his butt cheek. Then again, maybe not.

“You will call me when you get to town and when you leave to come home. If you don’t, I will come into town and find you. I have no problem proving to anyone, including you, that you are mine.” With that statement, Cade stalked into the bedroom and laid Bret onto the king-size bed. Both of their pants, underwear, and shirts were on the floor in seconds. Lube was taken out from under the pillow and opened, and it covered Cade’s fingers.

Cade pushed two fingers into that little hole, opening it up easily. After a third finger was added, he started nailing that bundle of nerves that soon had Bret begging him to put his cock in. But Cade wasn’t listening. Taking the little guy’s dripping, rock-hard dick into his mouth, he proceeded to show his baby who was in charge. Just when Bret couldn’t hold on any longer, Cade backed off. Only to take Bret’s cock deep into his throat again and rub his prostrate even harder. Again he backed off when Bret was just about to come and had gone from begging to incoherent mumbles. Man, his baby’s face was gorgeous when he was flying. Using some more slick on his own dick, Cade put the blunt end up against Bret’s hole and stopped. He waited until Bret looked at him, and then he stated unequivocally, “You are mine.” And in one push, he was balls deep in his baby.

Bret’s back arched as he took that beloved cock in to the hilt. This was going to be fast and rough. He had wanted the big bear’s

attention and he got it. And how he loved it. Something inside him just drank in and blossomed under Cade’s possession. It wouldn’t work for everyone, but it sure did for him.

“Wrap your legs around me, baby,” Cade ordered. Then he proceeded to pound Bret’s ass. In the past, men had walked out after one of his displays of dominating possession. Thank goodness Bret seemed to be able to take anything he gave and flourish with it.

Sweat dampened their skin as Cade’s cock was sucked into that tight hole over and over. Reaching down, he gripped Bret’s slim prick and firmly stroked it. It only took a few jerks of that velvety skin before jets of cum were erupting across his chest. That sight and the sudden stranglehold on his own dick had Cade piston in and out as he exploded inside his baby.

Rolling over and adjusting the pup on his chest, Cade wrapped his arms firmly around Bret and just took a little time to enjoy the moment.

“I love you.” Crap, Bret wondered if he had just said that out loud. There was a moment of silence, and then those arms around him tightened. Wiggling a little to let Cade know breathing was becoming a problem, Bret got the courage to meet warm deep blue eyes.

“I love you, too, baby,” Cade answered. Reaching over to the nightstand, he pulled out a small square box. Flipping the cover off with one thumb, he stated, “Wear my ring, sweetheart.” This was a statement, not a question. No room for his baby to say no.

Two arms wrapped around his neck, squeezing tightly. As far as Cade was concerned, that was enough of an acceptable reply. Loosening Bret’s arms, he proceeded to deeply kiss him as he rolled them over until the pup was back on the bottom. Then he slid his granite-hard dick out until the head was just inside that silky hole. With a thrust of his hips, he was balls deep again.

He did this over and over until the tingling at the base of his spine told him to take care of his baby quick. “Come,” he ordered. And just like that he felt the wet warmth of Bret’s seed on his belly. Then Cade let go and filled his pup with his own cum, marking Bret as his on the inside.

Cade rolled to his side, bringing the pup close against him. Reaching over, he scooped up the box where it had fallen. He brought it between them so Bret could see it. The ring was wide and gold, etched with vines and leaves.

Bret slowly took the ring out of the box. Pulling away slightly, he put the ring on his finger. Looking back up into those gorgeous blue eyes, he said quietly, “I love it.”

Pulling Bret back close, Cade began pulling marks up on his neck. Cade felt complete. “What about you?” the pup whispered in his ear.

“I can’t wear a ring, honey, with my work in rescue. I thought maybe I would have one tattooed on my finger instead.”

Bret was elated. A tattoo was permanent. That meant Cade and him were permanent. Looking down at his ringed finger, he asked, “Can I get a ring tattoo, too, and then wear this ring on top?”

“If that’s what you want, baby.” Cade may have sounded calm on the outside in that moment, but he was actually touched and overwhelmed with emotions. Maybe the pup knew, though, because he slowly leaned over and gently gave Cade the softest, sweetest kiss of his life.

  Chapter Eight

After a mutually satisfying shower together that had resulted in using up all of the hot water, Bret was finally ready to head into town. He grabbed his mug of coffee, his jacket, and a box that needed to be taken to the post office, and went out to the car Cade had said was his to use. His own car had been parked outside Dirk’s house and was swept away by the river.

Setting the jacket and box on top of the trunk so he could open the car door, he automatically put the mug of coffee on the roof above the door. Many people had told Bret that there would come a day when he would be one of those sorry saps on a video, driving down the street with a mug of coffee on his roof. But it was a habit he just couldn’t break. Just as he opened the car door, he remembered there were two more letters on the kitchen table that needed to be mailed out. Leaving the car door open, he turned and headed back into the house.

Finally getting back to the car, Bret scooped up his jacket and the box and put them in the car. Automatically, he reached above his head for the coffee, and his hand came up against nothing. Still bent over half in the car his, hand felt around for the mug. Nothing. Straightening up, he saw that his coffee wasn‘t on the roof. Looking into the car he wondered if he had put it in the cup holder already, but found nothing. Getting on his hands and knees and looking under the car turned up nothing. This was getting stranger by the minute.

Scratching his head, he got up and headed back into the house, realizing he must have taken it back inside when he went and retrieved the envelopes. Nothing. Exasperated, he went back out to the car for one more look. And there it was, sitting innocently on the hood of the trunk. Man, he must be really losing it. First the rug, then the broom, and now his coffee. He was beginning to wonder if he should start doing mental exercises or something.

As directed, Bret checked in with Cade as soon as he hit the outskirts of town. “Hey, I made it to town fine. The car is fine. The road is fine. The birds are fine. Are you fine?” Bret asked Cade when Cade answered the phone. He couldn’t keep his warped sense of humor from coming
out. He was just so happy.

“Smart ass,” he replied. “Just make sure you call when you’re on your way home, baby.”

“Cool, then I can tell you how fine my ass looks in my jeans.” Bret was on a roll now.

There was a chuckle and then, “When you get home, baby, I’ll show you how I feel about that fine ass in those jeans. Now drive safe and I’ll talk to you later.”

“Okay, fine. I love you.” He couldn’t stop saying it.

“I love you, too, baby.” And then Cade was gone.

Putting the phone on the seat, Bret decided to take care of the mail at the post office first and then go to the office supply store before getting groceries. That way anything cold wouldn’t melt.

The office supply store used to be downtown on Main Street, but under new management it was moved to a bigger building one block off of Main Street. Bret always felt if possible, buying local was the way to go. After discussing it with his bear, he was happy to find out their views were the same.

At the post office, the lines were small and things went quickly. At the office supply store he parked on the side of the building and put the car into park, which automatically disengaged the locks. Before he could even turn off the car and take the key out of the ignition, the passenger side door was wrenched open and he was completely flabbergasted to see Dirk's boyfriend, Keith, jump into the car. Keith then shoved a gun into his side and said,” Start driving.”

“What do you want, Keith?” Bret’s mind was going a mile a minute, trying to find a way out of this situation.

“Well, I want you to start driving where I tell you to. While you’re doing that, I’m going to finish this fine coffee. It was so much fun playing with it at that house of the guy with the hero complex you’re staying with.” Keith let out a nasty chuckle. “So sad. Not! He won’t be able to play hero and stop our little get-together.” Then he snarled. “Now drive or I’ll start putting bullet holes in you. I think flesh wounds first and then work up to the joints. This is going to be so much fun.”

Bret put the car into gear and pulled out of the parking lot. Following Keith’s directions, he realized they were heading out of town in the opposite direction of Cade’s house. Sneaking glances at Keith, he could see that the man was not in real good shape. He was way too thin, his skin a yellowish color, and his hair was dirty and greasy. What really had Bret panicking was the sweat covering his face and the way he couldn’t seem to stop shaking. Bret’s own hands on the steering wheel were also starting to shake. That was when the shiny gold ring on his finger caught his eye. Bret took strength in that ring and knew somehow he had to get through this and get back to Cade.

They ended up going down a couple of side roads, and as far as Bret could tell, they were about ten miles or so outside of town. He wasn’t real familiar with the area. Keith instructed him to turn into a gravel drive way and pull around to the back of an old barn that looked like it was ready to fall into a heap.

“Shut off the car,” he ordered. Following the instructions, he had just sat back to see what Keith wanted next when an elbow slammed into the side of his head. Keith reached over him and opened the door on his side of the car. Dazed but still conscious, Bret was shoved out of car onto the ground. Before he could get his bearings and try to do something, Keith was out of the car, grabbing him by the hair, and dragging him through the barn door into the barn. He ended up crab walking backward to keep his hair from being pulled out by the roots.

Suddenly his hair was let go and he couldn’t stop his momentum and ended up sprawled on the dirt floor. His hands were grabbed and cuffs were locked around his wrists. Bret tried to sit up, intending to run, but a heavy chain ran through the cuffs, hindering his movements. The chain went up to a pulley attached to a huge beam of the barn. Keith quickly moved over to a car battery that was sitting on an old wooden bench. He then picked up a wire and clamped it to a bolt on the battery. He heard a motor start, and Bret’s arms were wrenched into the air. He was then pulled up into a standing position and then further onto his toes before the chain stopped.

Concentrating on trying to maintain his balance to relieve the pressure in his shoulder sockets, he wasn’t aware of Keith walking around behind him until he felt the madman grabbing his shirt collar. “Let’s get this off, hmm, and see what we can do to make that skin all colorful. This is for my Dirk, asshole.” Keith then cut the back of Bret’s shirt down the middle. He could feel the knife slicing through his skin as it parted the shirt. By the time Keith had the last scraps of his shirt off, blood was dripping onto the floor from his back, arms, and chest. Just as Keith was stepping away to admire his work, Bret grabbed the chain, lifted his feet off the ground, and kicked Keith in the stomach, sending him across the floor, slamming into the wall.

He struggled to pull off the cuffs and tried to get the chain loose, anything to get away. Bret watched in horror as Keith got off the floor and grabbed the gun off the bench. Walking toward him, he sneered. “Bad move, Bret baby. Now you’ve earned a little punishment.”

“Why are you doing this? I haven’t done anything to you,” Bret shouted.

“Nothing? You think you’ve done nothing? Dirk is gone. It’s all your fault!” Keith stopped a few feet from Bret’s still struggling form. “When he realized the river was going to take the house he said we should go back and get you. I couldn’t believe it. You are nothing. Why would he want to get you? But, he said we had to.” Keith lifted the gun and aimed it at Bret’s head. “Then the bank of the river collapsed and he was taken away. I managed to grab onto a tree branch and climb the tree until a boat came and rescued me. But Dirk was gone. And it was because of you!”

Keith lowered the gun and shot Bret through the knee. Bret looked down and watched blood soak through the leg of his jeans, and then his leg collapsed from under him. Funny, the only pain he felt was from his arms and shoulders taking on his entire weight. Fleetingly, he thought that he had read somewhere that if an injury was really bad, a person wouldn’t feel it. But then that thought just kind of floated away. Weird.

Looking up, Bret seemed to be seeing everything through a tunnel, the edges kind of gray, foggy. He watched Keith walk back to the bench and pick up a thick leather strap. Then he turned and walked back to Bret’s side. By the third time that strap connected with his back, everything went black.

  Chapter Nine

Cade was in his office, having just received the pup’s phone call when a truck pulled up to the house. His office had its own outside entrance and Tony came through the door, laptop computer under his arm. “We may have a problem, boss. I have the info on Roger Holland, aka Keith. This is one messed up dude.”

“Sit down and report.” The feeling in his gut just intensified.

“Okay. Roger Keith Holland, aka Keith, grew up in foster care out east. He spent time in juvenile hall for mutilation and torture of animals. He was released, but then he was sent back when he started abusing fellow foster children. At eighteen he left foster care, moved here, and has worked at a local metal factory for nine years. He spends his free time at local BDSM clubs. Likes to watch the hard-core stuff, bloodletting and humiliation. He is on notice with two of the clubs because it seems as he watches the show he starts ordering the Doms to do what he wants to see. That didn’t go down so well. He also loves to play mind games. He met Dirk Lawson about five months ago. The two deadbeats fed off each other’s kink. Dirk, the wannabe Dom, and Roger egging him on. It seems Bret was taken as their new plaything.”

“Shit.” Bile came up into Cade’s throat. “Any more?”

“Well, he’s been seen around town spouting off that he was going to make someone pay for killing his boyfriend. He also suddenly had a lot of cash,” Tony continued. “Earlier this week he was in the hardware store buying chains, an electric pulley system, and a car battery. Boss, I think for the time being you should keep Bret close. Apparently Holland has a problem with alcohol and drugs. And he tends to get meaner the more he
takes. The people that he hangs around say he has been going nonstop on the shit for the last couple of weeks.”

Cade grabbed his phone and sent a call through to Bret. No answer. Looking at Tony, he said, “Bret went into town and now he isn’t answering his cell phone.”

Tony opened his laptop and asked, “What’s his cell phone number?”

A few minutes later Tony said, “His cell phone is heading west out of town. What would he be doing out there?”

“He wouldn’t. Gear up. Grab the computer and let’s go. I’ll drive. You call Jack and have him get the rest of the team suited up and headed that way. I’ll call Steve, the county sheriff, and let him know what’s going on. My gut’s telling me this is going to get ugly. Tell Jack to have Treb ready to do his thing.”

Treb was the sharpshooter of the team. He wasn’t much bigger than Bret. But he was wily and had major fighting skills, and he didn’t miss when there was any kind of weapon in his hands.

As they made their way to town, Tony informed Cade that the cell phone signal had stopped. They were still at least ten minutes away. “Let Jack know. I want everyone there and ready, ASAP. Then call the sheriff’s number and let Steve know where we will be,” Cade ordered. He was in full leader mode.

After what seemed like hours to Cade, he pulled the truck over about a half mile away from the spot where Tony had said the signal had stopped. The sheriff pulled up behind him. He could see his team were arriving and getting out of their trucks as well.

Meeting them all in front of Cade’s truck, the sheriff spoke first. “What kind of situation is this, Cade? I have my men waiting about a mile back down the road.” Steve Garvey was a good sheriff and Cade had known him for years. They both had been in rescue situations together enough to respect and trust each other.

“We believe Bret has been kidnapped by a man named Roger Holland. Bret knows this man by the name Keith. Holland had been involved in abuse to Bret in the past and blames Bret for the death of his boyfriend, Dirk Lawson. He’s been spouting off threats around town against Bret, and now Bret isn’t answering his phone. The phone’s GPS is showing its location about a half mile down the road. There is no way Bret should be anywhere around here.”
