“It’s a white one girl, but to top it off, he came over here with a female when he picked up the kids.”
Scarlett frowned. “A female, like a girlfriend female?” she asked, knowing how crazy Stephen used to be about Nina.
“I don’t know, but I think so.” Nina answered.
“Did she come in?”
“Now you know that bitch ain’t come in my house. Stephen ain’t no damn fool.” Scarlett grinned. “Girl, I had on my short purple robe, and he didn’t even try to come on to me like he normally does. Even if he ain’t tryna get no pussy, he’ll still hug and kiss on me, but that didn’t happen today. He handed me a hundred dollar bill, and got the kids and left.”
“That was it?” Scarlett questioned.
“Yep,” she responded.
“Hmmm, I see that’s bothering you a little.” She said, sensing the dissatisfaction in Nina’s voice.
“It does bother me, and I don’t know why. Hell, the only reason we’re not together is because of me.”
“Maybe he’s tired of waiting on you. You know a good man ain’t gonna wait on no woman for too long, especially one that looks as good as Stephen. It’s always gonna be some woman that will be waiting to snatch him up.”
Nina sat quiet for a moment. “You’re right, I guess. I just would’ve never expected him to show up to my house with another female riding with him, to prove that he’s moving on.”
“You gotta think about it, girl. It wasn’t that long ago when you needed your water bill paid and Stephen showed up with the money to pay it, only to find Rick there lounging in your crib with his boxers on. How do you think that man feels, knowing that you’re letting a no good dead beat hang around, but you won’t give him the time or the day.”
“Yeah, but since then, I’ve cut Rick’s broke ass off. He can’t be fucking up my paper with the one baby daddy that pays his child support without us putting the folks in our business.”
“Well he’s fucked up Stephen’s feelings for you.” Hearing that news kind of hurt Nina’s feelings as she quietly sat on the phone. Stephen had always been there for her, and regardless of what she did or who she slept with, he always stayed single while waiting for her to get herself together.
“Red, I tell you one thing. I ain’t letting no other woman come in and take over. That man helps me out a lot.” She sighed. “I do love Stephen, because I know he’s a good man and a great father, even to Marc and Macy. The only reason why I can’t quite settle down with him…”
“Is because of his lil dick,” Scarlett cut in, shaking her head.
“Maaaaan, is that being selfish that I don’t want the man because of the size of his dick?”
Scarlett chuckled. “I can’t really answer that one because I like a nice size myself.”
Nina peeked out the living room window again as she spotted Rick pulling up in a beat up 1988 Chevy Caprice with the motor knocking loud as hell. She disappointedly shook her head. “Red, the dead beat is pulling up, so I’ll call you back.”
Scarlett laughed. “I’ll call you back after I get the rental car.”
“Okay sounds good to me,” She responded then ended their call. Unlike Stephen, Rick just walked inside the house.
“Well damn, you don’t know how to knock?”
“I ain’t gotta knock as long as I got children here.” Rick responded, immediately stepping up to Nina and kissing her around the neck. “What you got on?” he asked, checking out her skimpy attire.
“I just got out the shower and washed my hair. Red and I are getting out tonight.”
“Don’t you wanna give me a quickie?”
“Look, Rick, just get your kids and go. I ain’t got time for this shit no more.”
“What you mean you ain’t got time no mo’? I ain’t had that pussy in ‘bout two months now. It’s past time,” he said, trying to run his hand up her robe.
“No sir, this ain’t happening.” She had to do something fast, or she would fall prey to his good dick ass. “Marc and Macy,” she called out. “Y’all daddy in here.”
Rick grinned. “Oh you gon’ play me like that?” His eyes were red as fire and he looked high as a kite.
“I keep telling you that I’m over this shit. You can’t even pay child support, let alone keep your word to your kids. I’m surprised you showed up here today. Hell, they haven’t seen you in over a month.”
“But I’m here now,” he said.
She shook her head at him. “You’ll never get it.”
Marc and Macy made their way up front. Macy still had her lips poked out as she slowly walked over and gave her daddy a hug. He and Marc gave each other dap.
“Son, you’re getting taller,” he said, admiring his son’s height and handsome features. He was growing into a fine young man. “Time really flies.”
Marc and Macy hugged and kissed Nina, not really paying Rick much attention. “Alright, y’all behave, and have a good time with your daddy, because y’all will probably be grown by the time he sees y’all again.” she joked.
Rick frowned. “That shit ain’t funny.”
“You better take care of my children,” she snapped.
“Like they ain’t mine too?” He responded, and then followed the children out on the porch.
“Daddy, is that your ugly car you driving?” Macy pointed with a disapproving wrinkle in her nose.
“Mace, you got a mouth just like your mama.” Rick commented, causing Nina to laugh as she walked out behind them. “Y’all go get in the car.” He looked over at Nina. “Where is O’Mari and Mya?” he questioned.
“Stephen not too long ago picked them up. You know he’s always on time.”
“Yeah whatever,” he responded. “Unless you still fucking that pussy, you need to have on clothes when he comes over.”
She quickly rolled her eyes at him. “Boy bye,” she said, then walked back inside her house and locked up behind her. She hated spending so much of her time on Rick because he certainly wasn’t worth it, but she was over that now. All her thoughts were focused on finding out what the deal was with Stephen.
Scarlett pulled up in her driveway driving a brand new metallic blue Audi S4 Premium Plus Sedan. The limo tinted windows made her feel superior, and she was definitely riding on her high horse. The stars were bright, and lit up the sky as midnight approached. She had just dropped Nina off from their dinner date at Chili’s, where they sat at the bar and got tipsy off Grand Patron Margaritas. She grabbed her Prada purse off the backseat and reached for the doorknob to get out, just as her cell phone rang.
“Hey babe,” she answered with a smile.
“Hey love,” Greg spoke back. “I know you’re heading out of town for the weekend, but I’d like to see you right quick if that’ll be okay.”
She gently sat her purse over on the passenger seat. “Okay, I can do that.”
“Meet me off of Belair Road to our little hide out.”
“I’ll be there in about twenty minutes.” She stated and they ended the call.
Scarlett pulled up to a secluded park area off Belair Road. She drove around to the back end of the parking lot right next to Greg’s black Ford Super Duty F-350 Dually truck. Just the sight of his truck made her envision the type of man he was. Supersized, dark, handsome, smooth, strong, and tough, she thought. A smile crept across her face as he stepped out of his truck and walked over to her car door. He opened the door for her, and as soon as her hot pink Flog Sandals hit the pavement, she stood up out of the car and immediately wrapped her arms around his neck. He hugged her back gently around the waist, inhaling the sweet smell of her Ed Hardy Pink perfume.
“I see you’re riding like a Boss Chick tonight.” He grinned, checking out her ride. “That’s how you should be riding all the time.” She smiled, enjoying his heavy toned, sexy voice. “I’m glad he’s being good to you,” he added.
“He is,” she softly responded.
He stood back to look her over. “You know I’m gonna miss
you while you’re gone.”
“I’m gonna miss you too,” she smiled. “But it’s only for the weekend. Tuesday morning at work, I’ll be right back in your face.” She playfully sighed. “I ain’t looking forward to it, but you know.”
He grinned. “Well I’m already looking forward to it,” he said, pulling her close to him. “I’ve added some money on your card. I just wanted to make sure that you were good on your own.”
She smiled. “Just like a real gentleman.” It was something about Greg that drew her to him. He took care of her needs, her wants, and definitely treated her with enormous respect. Scarlett rested her head on his chest while he embraced her, as if he didn’t want to let go.
The calm winds whistling through the nearby trees mixed with the soft sounds of Getting Late by Floetry, which played from inside the new Audi S4. The serene moment was something she needed to end her night with, as they slow danced under the moonlight. A man she once wished was her father, had in fact, years later, become her sugar daddy.
About twenty minutes had passed and Scarlett was still enjoying the moment as Greg continued to slow dance with her, slow song after slow song.
“I better let you go, because I can stand out here with you forever.” he whispered.
“I know the feeling,” she responded then kissed him softly on his lips.
“Plus, I have an early morning. I bought Sheila a new living room set and a master bedroom set for her house. She just doesn’t know how happy I am to see her venture out on her own.”
Scarlett seemed a bit surprised. “Hmm, I knew that she’d been looking, but I didn’t know that she had found something already.”
“I think she’s trying to surprise you, and here I am running my mouth.”
“Nonsense,” she cut in. “I’ll still act surprised when she tells me. Plus, I’ve just been so busy this week that she probably didn’t know when was a good time to tell me. As a matter of fact, I’m gonna call her as soon as I get inside the car.” she said, not ever wanting Greg to know that she and Sheila had this undercover beef going on.
“I think she’d love that.” He opened the car door for her. He leaned down in the doorway after she’d gotten in and kissed her one more time. “I’ll see you when you get back, and be safe, okay.”
Scarlett smiled. “I will.”
Greg closed up the car door and Scarlett immediately grabbed her cell phone to call Sheila. She answered on the first ring.
“Well, hey stranger.”
“Hey Sheila, what’s up?” she said, putting the car in gear to leave. She looked over at Greg and waved, even though she knew he couldn’t see her behind the dark tint.
“I wanted to call you earlier today, but Samantha and I ended up spending some much needed time together, and it just slipped my mind.”
Scarlett was shocked to hear that. “Well, I think that’s great that you and Sam were together.”
“I wanted you to know that I moved, and of course you have gotta stop by and see my crib.”
“Well, uh…” she hesitated.
“Not tonight, silly,” Sheila responded. “I know you’re going out of town in the morning.”
“Yeah, but don’t worry, because as soon as I’m back in town, I’m gonna come over.” She took the phone from her ear. “What the heeeeeeeell,” she whispered, mouth partly open as Mrs. Grand slowly entered the park as she was exiting. In a quick motion, with Greg following closely behind her, Mrs. Grand cut him off and immediately jumped out her car.
“Scarlett,” Sheila called out.
“Uh yeah,” Scarlett responded, looking in her rear view mirror as Mrs. Grand stormed around to the driver door of Greg’s truck.
“I’m glad you called.” Sheila said. “I’ve wanted us to sit down and talk. It’s been so much going on and I’ve missed you. We’ve not been as close as we used to be, and I’d like to change that. You know, be a better friend to you.” Sheila spoke earnestly, but Scarlett’s attention was still focused on what she’d just seen. If she’d been in her car, Mrs. Grand would’ve seen her without a doubt. Her heart pounded at just the thought of being caught by Greg’s wife.
“Scarlett,” Sheila called out.
“Uh yeah, Sheila, I agree.” she said. “As soon as I come back, we’ll talk.”
“Okay cool,” Sheila said with a smile. “Enjoy your weekend and I’ll see you when you return. Oh and tell Luke I said hey and to take care of my bestie.”
“I sure will,” Scarlett said and quickly ended their call. She then called Nina in a hurry.
“What’s up Red,” Nina answered.
Scarlett took a deep breath. “YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE WHAT JUST HAPPENED.”
Chapter 7
Sheila woke up after hearing her father’s mouth downstairs, calling upstairs for her to get up. Damn, I don’t know why I gave them a key. She thought sluggishly, as she sat up on the side of the blow up mattress and rubbed her eyes.
“Sam,” she called out then shook her sister, who was resting peacefully beside her. “Daddy is here.”
Samantha woke up with a pounding headache. “Damn, I need some aspirin.” She groggily uttered, then immediately got up and headed inside the bathroom to clean herself up. Her hangover was no joke, and she definitely couldn’t let their father see her in such a mess.
“It’s Tylenol in my purse on the counter by the sink in there, and I’m going downstairs and to see what the fuss is with Daddy.” She said, and exited the bedroom.
On her way down the stairs, Sheila was greeted with the Farmer’s Furniture movers bringing in a very nice indigo blue, faux leather sofa sectional. A bright smile appeared on her face, then she pointed towards her entertainment room instructing them to sit the furniture in there.
“Daddy you never cease to amaze me,” she said, standing on her tippy toes, then kissing him softly on the cheek.
He smiled. “I thought I’d surprise you with some new furniture for your living room and your master bedroom. I knew you had a problem with taking things from the house, and I can’t blame you. A new beginning deserves new things, and I’m very proud of you for stepping out on your own.”
“Thanks Dad,” she responded, hugging and kissing him again. “Let me grab you a snack or something.” She said as he followed her into the kitchen. She opened up the empty refrigerator. “Better yet, let me pour you some cold water, because that’s all I got at the moment.” She joked, causing Greg to laugh.
“Don’t worry about it, sweetheart. I was gonna take you and your sister out for breakfast this morning anyway. That’s if you didn’t have anything else to do.” He said, noticing that Samantha had stayed the night and not Jay.
“Oh, nah, I’m free for breakfast.” She commented, already pissed at Jay because she hadn’t spoken to him, nor had he even attempted to return any of her calls that night. She was just feeling done with the whole situation.
“Where is your sister?” Greg asked, then peeked around the corner to direct the furniture movers with the end tables and the 60 inch 3D TV.
“She should be down in a little bit. She was washing up when I left out the room.”
He was concerned. “Is she okay?”
“Uh, yeah, she’s just fine to me.”
“Well I’m glad you’re spending time with her. She needs that, and nothing pleases me more than to see my girls act like sisters instead of enemies or strangers to one another.”
“Don’t worry, we’ll be okay.” Sheila assured him. “Speaking of okay, where is mama? She told me that she was coming over this morning. I was actually expecting her to come over since you were just here yesterday, but since you came bearing goods, then it’s okay.”
He shook his head at his spoiled daughter. “Felicia is still home. She’s upset with me at the moment, but I’m sure she’ll be over here to visit you at some point today.”
“What’s wrong with her? Why is she mad?”
“You know your mama. She’s always thinking that I’m up to
no good.” He responded.
“Are you? I mean, does she know something?”
“She knows nothing, and no I’m not doing anything, so you can stop reporting to her about the woman that comes to the shop for car repairs. You may not realize it, but you make things worse by keeping up unnecessary things.”
Sheila felt bad because she knew that at times, she could make things look so much worse than what they really were. “I’m sorry, Daddy. It won’t happen again.”
“Good,” he commented. Although he loved his daughter, he knew that it would more than likely happen again.
The ringtone, You are my Rock by Beyonce began to chime as she looked over on the table at her cell phone. It was Jay, and even though she didn’t want to answer it, she did.
“Hold on,” she answered, then put her hand over the mouthpiece of the phone. “Daddy, I’m gonna take this call and get dressed in the guest bedroom. Please show the movers where to put the rest of the furniture.”
“Okay,” Greg responded.
She immediately went upstairs, passing Samantha who was now coming down the stairs.
“Is that him?” Samantha whispered noticing the phone in Sheila’s hand and the bitter expression on her face.
“Yes.”
“Well don’t tell him that you’ve moved yet, since he’s playing games.”
Sheila smugly grinned. “Rest assured, little Sis, I’m not.” Once inside the guest bedroom, she put the phone back up to her ear. “Yes,” she said as if she didn’t want to be bothered.
“Can we talk?” Jay asked, knowing that he was clearly in the doghouse for ignoring Sheila’s calls all night.
“Talk,” she said.
“Not now, and especially not like this. Can you drop by my crib this morning?” he asked.
“I’m having breakfast with Sam and Daddy this morning. Plus, I have other things to do after that. So it’ll be much later,” she said with a soft attitude.
“Uh, okay then,” Jay responded. He wasn’t a fool and had already figured that Sheila wouldn’t make this easy for him. “Just call me and let me know when you’re coming.”
“Yeah alright,” she stated then hung up before he could get another word out.
