Ty was in a panic about his baby niece’s first holiday, which was funny as hell, especially when his brothers started ribbing him and Lyon the fuck was laughing his ass off.

“We forgot something else, there’re four pregnant women in this crew, and Law’s is breeding too, y’all sure these girls are up to taking this trip?”

“I don’t see why not Quinn. They made it a month or so ago, plus we can always fly out. What do you think Lo?” That sounded like Devon, the silent killer. He’s hardly ever heard from, preferring to let his brothers take point, but that doesn’t mean he’s any less deadly than the rest of them.

“One thing boys, we don’t discuss this shit while you’re here, not unless we’re one hundred percent sure there’re no ears around. My family are heavy into this Xmas shit, I don’t want anything fucking that up.”

“Lyon, your word that you won’t move on this until we’ve done some searching.”

“I don’t make promises, but I can tell you that if those fucks don’t make a move towards me I’ll hold off. You fucks take too long though who knows.”

The SEALs threw around plans for the best way to make the trip and what all they’d have to do to make it as smooth as possible for their women. Creed and I were closer so it wouldn’t be that much of a problem for us to head out.

I hung up and sat in the dark for a while contemplating. I was trying to tie it all together in my head now that we had another piece of the puzzle. I better go tell Dana Sue that she wasn’t going to get to plan her first Xmas as my wife. Hopefully her nosy ass would jump at the chance to be with the other women again.

  Chapter 10

  LAW

  ***

Far from being upset Dana Sue was chomping at the bit to head to Lyon’s place. I had the boys getting the place prepared for our absence. Brandon had had words with the grand fuckwit while the rest of us watched. We’d finally let him now that we had his daughter and granddaughter, but we kept back the news of her lineage for now.

He made a lot of noise and threw around some threats but we just laughed at his ass. He wasn’t giving up anything on his nephew, Stockton and claimed not to know anything about the trafficking or why more than ten girls from this area had been in that damn book. Since we didn’t believe his ass I decided to keep him and let the others go with a warning. I wasn’t expecting any trouble out of them since they had twenty-four hours to head out of town or bear the consequences. Now I had something else to deal with.

“I called this meeting because we have a problem. My wife is pregnant as well as yours Brand. We know they’re up to some shit but as long as they can’t get off the grounds we should be able to contain them. If anything happens to my wife somebody’s gonna pay so I suggest you fucks keep your ears and eyes open.”

There was a lot of mumbling as was to be expected but it is what it is. “Anybody know what happened to Doc Sommers? I’ve been trying to track her down with no help.”

“Maybe because she’s ninety and retired. What you need her for?”

“Because Clay she delivered me and she’s gonna deliver my kid.”

“But she’s been retired for years, she lives out in the boonies on a farm or some shit last I heard.”

  “Well find her.”

  “And then?”

“After we get back from Lyon’s bring her here.

“You can’t be serious you’re gonna kidnap her?”

“No you ass, but the only doctor in town is a man no fucking way. She was good enough to bring me into the world, she’ll do. Now are we ready to hit the road?”

  ***

Creed and I were the first to make it to Colt’s place a few weeks later. “Well Lyon, we made it.” I looked around the room at all the mayhem. There were women and kids all over the place and I could see where Kat had gone all out for the holiday. It was easy to put everything else aside for a little while surrounded by all this gaiety.

“I’m glad you came.” He clapped me on the shoulder and we turned to watch the women getting reacquainted. Dana Sue looked happy so for me the trip was already worth it. When the SEALs showed up we really had a full house then.

People were spread out from the backyard to the driveway. Somebody had turned on the stereo and Xmas carols were piping through the speaker system, and the women were passing around trays of food and drinks.

I made sure she was settled because I knew I was going to be leaving her for the better part of the night. We may have come here under the guise of celebrating but every man there knew why we had really made the trip.

Lyon’s youngest daughter was the star attraction, a pretty little thing. I hope Dana Sue better not get any ideas about daughters and shit. I had enough on my hands with her ass, no more females, for fuck sake we were already overrun.

The phone rang on Lyon’s hip. He answered snapped his fingers to get my attention. I alerted the others when I saw the look on his face. We were only hearing his end of the conversation so we waited for him to let us in on what was going on as we followed him to the study. All we knew was that it was Mancini.

“Okay, we’re all in. I’m going to speaker now.” The phone crackled and then a man’s voice came on the line.

“I did some digging into your situation. I don’t know how much the SEALs have shared with the rest of you, but you’re swimming in very murky waters.”

“If you go after this, you better be sure you know what you’re going into. They will come after your families, your friends and your businesses. Any and everything they can to stop you. The trafficking is only the tip of the iceberg, I have Intel that Khalil is on his way to the states but not for the reasons you may think.”

  “What’s he after?”

“I’m not at liberty to share that at this time.” Who the fuck was this guy?

“Does that mean you don’t know?”

“I always know.” That caused a few raised brows in the room.

“Mancini, Logan here, we already guessed that The Fox wasn’t coming here behind this, so you’re not telling us anything new here. I’m pretty sure you knew that already so what’s the real reason for your call?”

There was a snicker and then throat clearing. “Look behind you gentlemen.” We all turned to look at the door and saw Lyon’s daughter hiding there.

“Catalina what are you doing in here?”

“I was here first daddy.” She had a doll in her lap as she sat quietly in the corner.

“Go find your mother and not a word or the doll gets it.” We all watched her take her sweet time leaving, throwing looks over her shoulder as she went.

“You mind telling me how you knew she was in here?” Lyon asked the question on all our minds. The connecting door slid open and he was just there. “How the fuck did you get in my house?” The fucker smirked at Lyon.

“Gentlemen, if you want my help we’ve got work to do.” We all looked at each other, this was some spook shit. “I still wanna know how you got in here.” Lyon was pissed and rightfully so. The place was like Fort Knox and yet this guy got through.

“How I got here is of no consequence and yes Lyon I know for a man like you that’s hard to swallow, but it’s just gonna have to do for now. Now, Khalil, the Porters, the fuck up.” He looked at me when he said that and I wondered how the fuck he’d overheard our first conference call.

“Are you a spook?” Lyon confronted him but we all wanted to know.

“Since we don’t know each other I’d try not to see that as an insult. What I am is not important for now, but you can Google me, I’m a restaurateur.”

“My ass.” Logan wasn’t looking too pleased. It felt like something ‘other’ was in the room with us. Mancini just smiled and pulled up a seat like he owned the place.

I sized him up, taking everything in. He was well dressed, well groomed and very polished. He spoke with a cultured voice and I guess anyone meeting him on the road would see exactly what he portrayed to the world. A businessman.

“I have to be gone in about an hour so if there’re any questions let’s get them out of the way.”

“Why? You’ll just tell us they’re of no consequence.”

  “Justice, how are you?”

“I’m cool, nice to finally meet the man behind the name, now you wanna tell us what the fuck we’re dealing with here?”

He studied every man in the room without saying a word and I guess that was too much for Lyon. “Bro put up or get to wherever the fuck you need to be early. I don’t have time for games and I sure as fuck don’t have any to waste. I get it, you’re good at whatever the fuck it is you do, but so am I, and every man in this room. Your name came from someone I trust, that’s the only reason I haven’t capped your ass for sneaking into my house.”

He grinned and looked at Lyon’s watch. “Your little toy there told you the minute I breeched. I wasn’t expecting a civilian to have such technology, that one slipped right by me.” All eyes turned to Lyon but wasn’t giving anything up.

“That ought to teach you to go playing around in other people’s backyards.” Lyon whistled and his boys Jared and Tommy came out of their hiding places. “We’re cool go keep an eye on the women we’ll be out soon.”

“So what do you have for us Mancini? Our women aren’t the most patient bunch.” Connor was cool as a cucumber as he held up the wall.

“What I have is a conspiracy. These players are into more shit than a little bit. We have trafficking, sex slaves, pedophilic rings, murder and espionage. What you boys walked into goes way beyond what’s going on-on the waterfront in that little town of yours.”

“How much did you know about your commander?” He turned his attention to the SEALs who all stepped towards him like they were ready to tear him apart. “He was clean, I don’t give a fuck what you think you know that much we do know. So if you’re here to sell us anything different you can get fucked.”

“Take it easy Tyler, I’m inclined to agree with you. I asked because he had more than you’ve found. He was killed…”

“You know this for a fact?” It was Logan’s turn to move on him. I knew the commander, knew he was one of the good guys so I understood how they felt.

  “Yes.”

  “Who?”

  “I’m not at liberty...”

“You say that shit one more time…”

“Cool it, everyone to their corners. Look Mancini show us your cards or get out of the game.” Fucking Lyon he doesn’t care if you’re a king or a pauper, no respect. Gotta love this guy.

“Gentlemen, I understand your frustration, and believe me I’m not interested in protecting these fuckers any more than you are. But there are things involved that if not handled carefully can backfire on us, and yes that us meant I am throwing my hat in the ring. Like I said I have somewhere to be, I just dropped in to take your measure so to speak, see who it was I am getting into bed with. I’ll be in touch.”

The fucker got up and left the way he came. “Uh, am I the only one who’s confused?”

“No Law, I think we’re all in the dark on this one.”

“That’s Mancini, I’m surprised he even showed up here.” Creed looked after the door where he’d disappeared.

“This other guy Thorpe, what the fuck is he like?”

“I don’t think he’s as hard core as that one, Law but he’s no light weight either.”

“So what just happened here?” Quinn, one of the least heard from SEALs spoke up. “He just appeared, said some shit that we already knew and left, what was the purpose?”

“Just what he said, taking our measure; I get the feeling he knows more about us than we do him.” That sounded about right, fuck.

“I think he did a little bit more than that, I think he just warned us about what we’re really dealing with here. What was that crack about the commander? He said it almost as if he knows something. He said ‘he knew more than what we’ve found.”

“What I wanna know is how the fuck he knows what we found Cord. Until Lyon mentioned this guy I never heard of him. We’ve looked since he came up and all we found was the billionaire bullshit. That’s no mere billionaire that just left this room.”

“You’re right Dev, this guy whatever, whoever he is, he’s under deep, but I still say he was giving us a hint. And he knows who killed the CO I want that information. Then I want to go after the fuckers one at a time and skin the flesh from their bodies.”

“You and me both brother, looks like we have shit to do, fuck.” Logan paced the room deep in thought. I had some thinking of my own to do. We’d all worked on taking Khalil down, all except Lyon of course. If he had some kid of vendetta going it was a good bet that shit was gonna get worse before it got better.

“We need to get this shit together boys, there’re too many things going on at once. We can’t do this now with a house full of people, but we need to get this shit sorted and soon. Everyone seems to agree on one point. This desert fuck isn’t coming here because of the trafficking we need to find out why he’s coming. Seems to me that’s the most important thing at this point. We find that we may be able to get in front of this thing.”

“Lyon’s right, in the meantime, Susie was in that book and I need to know why. She wasn’t mine when that picture was taken so how did Khalil know and why her? I think we know.” He looked at his brothers as he spoke. “We need the targets, let’s go through that book again and take another look at the girls in there, maybe something in there will lead us to something.”

“Wait, what did I miss? You know why she was in there?”

“We think we do but it’s not something we can discuss until we’ve spoken to the parties involved, believe me it’s nothing that will hurt this.”

“The fuck, you spook types take lessons from each other? I find it strange that I’m about the only one who doesn’t have shit to hide. I know why my kid was in there, the Porters. Law, your girl was in there why?”

“The fucker that paid her father off killed my family or had them killed, I don’t know why she was in the book, other than that he wanted a Stepford wife or some fuck.”

  “And you Creed?”

“Her fucked up aunt sold her out.”

“I think I’ve got it. You boys were all in some branch of the military at some point weren’t you? Any chance all of you worked for this commander at some point?” The room came alive then, everyone started talking at once.

“I’m guessing that’s right?” We all nodded but said nothing more. That shit was top secret. “Fine, so maybe whatever this fuck is after has something to do with the commander. What did spook boy say, he knew more than you’ve found? Where have you been looking?”

“Well fuck, we’ve got to head back.”

“Not today Lo. We promised these girls a good holiday away from the bullshit and this is baby Zak’s first Xmas and that fuck don’t get to mess with that fuck no.”

“Ty what is it with you and that kid?”

“What do you mean?” Ty looked at Lyon like he was nuts.

  “Nothing, nothing at all.”

“Right, let’s go salvage what we can of the rest of the day before these women revolt.” I can’t imagine the hell my wife would tear if I told her we came here only to head back.

In the end we had a good time. When the boys and I weren’t having secret meetings we were making our women happy. We only had to take them to task once when we overheard them talking about shit they shouldn’t know about.

Dana Sue was even bolder now that she had new recruits for her crew. They basically told us that they weren’t putting up with our silence anymore and we had a battle on our hands.

By the time we left the women had bonded so now we had four sets to worry about containing instead of one each. The SEALs seemed to think they could control their women but from what I saw I wasn’t so sure.

We left and headed for home in a much lighter mood so I was in no way ready to deal with finding the asshole sheriff at my gate.

What the fuck does this hump want now? I thought I told you to stay the fuck off my property.” I hopped off my ride and walked over to put my face in his. He had brought three cars with him, what the fuck?

The short fuck squared his shoulders and gave me a look that I did not like one bit. This was probably about the raid a few months ago but why now?

“Well boy, now I have your ass dead to rights.”

  “Oh yeah how’s that?”

  “We found the bodies.”

“What the fuck are you talking about?” Out the corner of my eye I saw my brother fidget and shit became clear. This fucker, I’ll deal with him later for now I had to get this corrupt fuck out my face before I put one in his head.

“Well now, are you going to stand here and tell me you didn’t kill those men we found back there in the woods? We found your name and information on one of the men. They all had shots to the head, that’s your specialty isn’t it? The way you murdered Royce?” The asshole grinned like he had me.

“I’ma give you ten seconds to get the fuck outta my face before I pop you. If you want to arrest me you’re gonna have to do better than finding my name on someone. Who the fuck is it that I’m supposed to have killed anyway?”

He rattled off three names and I was pretty sure they were the three boys who’d come here to do me in. I laughed in his face and signaled for my men who had been keeping him out to open the gate.

“If I were you, I’d stay the fuck away from me. Now unless you have a warrant get the fuck gone. I won’t warn you again, you come near me or my place again…as a matter of fact.” I pulled my piece and they started to scatter. I’m guessing that’s because my boys had drawn down on them too.

“You’ll pay for this boy. I’ll have you brought up on charges. Threatening an official of the law.” He said all this from behind the safety of the car door.

“Oh yeah try it. Then we’ll see how well you do when the spotlight’s on your ass. I know all your dirty little secrets you fuck. You come after me again I’ll bury. Wait your turn, I have other assholes to deal with but I’ll get to you soon enough.”
