Rush to the Altar

“You sure can,” Ann replied. “I say if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em. Let’s go!”
“You’re on!”
They revved their engines and took off down the rest of the mountain road. Now it was the guys’ turn to watch them. Callie popped an amazing wheelie that went on forever. By the time their exhilarating ride came to an end at the bottom, their husbands were clapping for her expertise.
One day Ann intended to reap that reward, but it would take many more hours on her bike to be that accomplished.
Later that night, satiated by a delicious meal, she and Riley lay on the floor in front of the fire. For a while they didn’t talk, only gazed into each other’s eyes and touched each other.
She would never tire of looking at her husband.
“You and I have discussed everything except our own children,” Riley began.
“It’s what I want more than anything in the world!” she cried softly. “How many were you thinking of?”
“One to start with, sweetheart.”
“I can’t promise that.”
At first he frowned, then he threw back his head and laughed. The next thing she knew he’d pulled her on top of him.
His eyes danced. “Twins. Wouldn’t that be something.”
“Does the possibility scare you?”
He sobered. “Not if you’re their mother.”
“Darling—”
He’d given her his heart for safe keeping. He’d done it on faith. It was up to her if he ever truly learned to trust in that powerful, magnificent, sacred, wonderful, yet most fragile emotion called love.
