“Then I guess it’s settled. When Cru...I mean Lady Violet, damn I’m going to slip and call her that tomorrow morning. When she shows up, we’ll tell her to expect the three of us. I hope we don’t regret this,” I told my mate and my best friend.
“So, when do we go?” Yeager wondered.
“As soon as possible, I guess. No sense in waiting. Can this thing make it Colorado,” I asked referring to Yeager’s old motorhome.
“Yeah, sure, why not? I’ll load my motorcycle on the back of the motorhome. Edie you’re welcome to ride with us,” Yeager replied. Yeager was a good mechanic but his less than enthusiastic assessment of our home on wheels didn’t leave me with much confidence. Still, it would be an adventure no matter what happened.
“You guys aren’t going to...you know, go all wolfy in the bedroom?” Edie asked screwing her face up in mock disgust.
“No, we’ll just do it outside. We’ll try to keep the howling to a minimum,” Yeager told her. Edie stuck her tongue out and rolled her eyes before she giggled.
“As weird as that is, it’s still kind of awesome,” Edie said. Now I rolled my eyes.
“What are you going to do when Agnes gets all wolfy?” I asked meaningfully. Edie’s face went slack and then a smile crept over her face.
“I didn’t think about that,” was all she said. Yeager and I laughed as Edie grinned from ear to ear despite herself obviously imagining the possibilities.
“You’re a dirty girl,” Yeager teased and Edie turned bright red. I laughed even harder but I let it be.
“Oh shut up!” was all Edie said in reply but she was still smiling and blushing. We talked and drank beer until the wee hours. Yeager and I didn’t need to sleep, we were used to being up all night, but we didn’t run either. Edie, however, fell asleep curled up on the sofa. Yeager covered her with a spare blanket and then we went to the bedroom and closed the rickety accordion door.
“I hope I’m doing the right thing,” I told him as we undressed.
“I trust your judgment. If you think we should go, we should go,” Yeager told me. We climbed under the covers and I rolled into Yeager’s arms.
“If anything bad happens...,” I said, leaving the thought unsaid.
“I’m sure all of our concerns are for nothing. Cruella is creepy but I’m sure she means well,” Yeager told me. I looked over my shoulder at him.
“You really think that?” I asked him. Yeager hesitated a moment.
“No,” he said plainly.
“Yeah, me either. Still, I feel like we need to go there and see,” I replied. Yeager nodded and then I turned and tried to relax. Yeager napped but I never did. I tried to convince myself I was making the right decision. I believed I was but I felt like the decision would carry consequences that I couldn’t see yet. I was probably letting my fears get the best of me but I couldn’t shake the feeling. I guess I’d find out soon enough.
The next morning, at dawn, Lady Violet and Agnes drove up to the motorhome. Yeager and I met them outside as Edie still slept. I told Violet about our decision and she looked pleased.
“Excellent, child. We look forward to welcoming you to Wolfsbane. You won’t regret the decision and I’m sure you’ll find it hard to leave once you’re there. Excuse my excitement. I’m just anxious to welcome you to the pack,” Violet told me.
“We’ll be there in a few days. We’re driving. I hope you can accommodate our home,” I said and gestured towards the old motorhome.
“Of course. There’s plenty of room. We must be going. The jet is waiting. I meant to offer you passage but I suspect you would prefer to come on your own,” Violet said. So, she had a jet. I wondered if it was her’s or if she had chartered it. I assumed Lady Violet was wealthy and the fact she had a jet waiting confirmed that whether she owned it or not.
“Yeah. We’ll be there, assuming the motorhome makes it, I promise,” I told Violet. Yeager glanced at me and frowned. “Sorry, I’m surprised it even runs,” I admitted. Yeager’s frown deepened but then he chuckled.
“So am I, to be honest,” he replied.
“Well, I’m sure you’ll make due,” Violet said dismissively wearing that disarming smile. “I’ll see you in a few days. Agnes, let’s go,” Violet said and handed us a map to her ranch. She then climbed back into her Cadillac Escalade and closed the door. Agnes, however, hesitated, her eyes focused beyond Yeager and me. I turned and found Edie standing in the doorway of the motorhome staring back at the young girl. Agnes finally turned and climbed into the Escalade and we all watched as it drove away. There was no turning back now. We were going to Colorado for good or ill.
~~O~~
Three days later, Yeager, Edie and I were rolling along I-15 in southern Utah. We had stopped for a night in Vegas, hit a biker bar called Hogs and Heifers and lost a few bucks in the casinos. Now we were headed for some open land to spend the night. We weren’t rushing to Colorado but we weren’t taking a lot of extra time either. We all had our reasons for wanting to get to Wolfsbane.
I was curious about Lady Violet and her assertion that I was special in some way. Yeager wanted to find out what he could about our kind, our history and how we fit in to the world at large. Edie wanted to see Agnes, the young, black girl that acted as Violet’s aide and driver. Edie had opened up a bit since she officially came out to Yeager and me. She told us she had liked women since she was a young girl but never felt comfortable enough in her own skin to admit it, even to herself, until she was almost eighteen.
Tonight, Yeager and I would run. It had been too long since we’d indulged our alter egos and both of us were itching to feel the rock and sand of the Utah Desert under our paws. We invited Edie to come with us but she declined. She told us we needed some time alone and she was right. After finding a secluded camping spot to spend the night and making dinner, Edie offered to do the dishes so Yeager and I could run.
“We’ll see you in a few hours,” I said as Yeager and I stepped out of the old motorhome.
“Have fun, you two,” Edie said wistfully. She was a bit envious that she couldn’t shift like I could. Honestly, I wished she could. Edie and I had been friends for a long time, since junior high. We were opposites, just about as different as any two people could be, but we accepted one another for who we were. We weathered the bullies and their insults through junior and high school together. Edie, however, always had it harder than I did.
Her dad was an angry man who used to beat Edie and her mother. They finally left him and showed up in Gold Canyon when I was in seventh grade. But Edie’s dad never paid child support and she spent a lot of her childhood on public assistance. She still lived with her mother until she followed Yeager and me to Slab City. Edie had a rough life and the fact her mother drank too much didn’t help. She pretended her mother’s drinking didn’t bother her, but it did.
Together we made a strange pair. I was always a big girl but Edie was built like a twelve year old boy and most of the time, acted like one. Neither of us had a conventional home life either. I never knew my father and Edie wished she’d never known hers. As different as we were, we had a lot in common as well. We understood each other and supported one another when things got tough, and things were tough more often than not.
“Don’t wait up,” I replied and closed the door behind us. Yeager and I looked around and saw no one or nothing for miles. No other camps, no lights. We began to undress, folding our clothes and placing them on a rock near the motorhome. Once Yeager was naked, he shifted becoming the gray wolf with the silvery streak down his back and the bright amber eyes. The wolf that was Yeager turned to look back at our home on wheels.
“That is so freaking awesome,” I heard behind me. I turned and Edie was watching through the screen of the kitchen window. Yeager regarded her, his tongue lolling out.
“What are you, a peeping tom?” I asked and smiled back at her, set my panties down and then winked at my friend. I then fell forward but by the time my hands hit the ground, they were
paws. I shook to settle my thick coat of glossy black fur with the white patch on my shoulders and then looked back at Edie. Edie had that longing look in her eyes. I regarded her for a moment before I turned and trotted off with my mate, Yeager.
We ran through the stark Utah desert, the orange and red rock now cloaked in darkness. We picked our way through the jumble of stones and boulders, sniffing the ground and learning the secrets of this land. Squirrels, jackrabbits, snakes, lizards, even a small herd of bighorn sheep had crossed our path at some point. We spooked an owl from its perch on a rather large rock formation. I slowed to watch it soar away. As exciting as it was to explore a new place in my human form, it was nothing compared to doing so as a wolf.
I could scent things a human would never see, things that transpired days or even weeks ago. I could smell the mouse cowering in fear at our passing, the rabbit’s skeleton that lay bleaching on the desert floor, the hawk that killed it and the turkey vultures that picked its bones clean in the days that followed. I could smell the rain that had swept through a week or so past. The landscape came alive to the wolf that I had become. But most of all, I could sense the intoxicating scent of my mate as he chose his own path through the desert not far away.
We ran for at least an hour, searching and exploring. At times, we ran together and at others, we ran apart indulging our curiosity separately. Yeager, or rather the wolf he had become, was never far from my thoughts and his scent was never lost to me. Finally, I found a sheltered cluster of boulders with a floor of soft sand in between the mammoth rocks. I enjoyed the soft floor on my paws before I shifted and became Cassie once again.
It didn’t take but a minute before the gray and silver wolf approached, shifting as he came close. He knelt before me, naked. His hard, manly form caused my loins to stir. His long, dark hair was a mess but Yeager brushed it from his face and then stroked his thick beard. “Had enough?” he asked.
“No, I missed that. Even a few days of only being human was a few too many. But I miss you more,” I said. I’d been cooped up with Yeager for several days in the motorhome but we weren’t alone. I was glad Edie had come with us but I missed being alone with my mate. Edie tried to give us some room but it wasn’t the same.
“I miss you too,” he told me, leaning forward and kissing me softly. I cupped his face in my hands as our tongues mingled and our warm lips pressed together. It was cold, even colder than the desert in southern California, but I barely felt it as we kissed. The boulders that stood around us radiated the last of the sun’s heat but it was Yeager that really warmed me. I pulled away, placed my hands on Yeager’s chest and pushed him backwards. Yeager caught himself on his outstretched arms as I crawled between his legs.
“I get so damned horny when I run,” I said as I took Yeager’s already hard shaft in my hand and bent to lick his glans.
“I’ve noticed. You look so pretty, fur ball. Especially with your mouth full,” he said. I smiled up at Yeager with my eyes as I wrapped my lips around his still human cock. Yeager sighed as I slowly sucked him, playing with his heavy jewels as I did. For my part, I was dripping wet. This wouldn’t last long but it would be spectacular, I was sure.
I forced myself to wait, however. I used my lips, tongue and hands to get Yeager ready, though he was ready the moment he found me nude here amongst the boulders. He leaked into my mouth as the minutes passed and I savored his salty-sweet juices. That, along with my own saliva, coated Yeager’s considerable length, running down his balls. Soon, I couldn’t deny my longings any longer. I abandoned my mate’s hardness and moved to straddle him.
“I’ve missed this,” I told him as I settled over him, took his shaft in my hand and guided it into my willing tunnel. I moaned as I slowly sank down onto it and Yeager’s hands found my lush hips. His fingers dug in to my flesh as his shaft filled me.
“You feel so good,” Yeager told me as I began to slowly ride him.
“Yeah, you too. Why is it so good with you?” I asked though I already knew the answer.
“We’re mates. We share something no human couple ever can. We share a connection and it’s even deeper with you and me, fur ball,” Yeager told me.
“Yeah?” I replied and bared my fangs as I rode Yeager faster.
“Oh, yeah!” Yeager said and I felt him transform within me as he always did, especially after a hard run. His body sprouted hair and his canines grew long. He was not a wolf but he wasn’t quite himself either. “Oh, you sexy wolfman, you,” I teased. Yeager held my hips as I massaged my full breasts for his pleasure as well as mine. He began to thrust from below, our flesh meeting with a succulent slapping noise. His hard body met my soft behind and soon I shook and shuddered from the impact.
“Oh fuck!” I cried out as a wild climax swept through me. I let Yeager take over, hammering into me from below. Like a wildfire, the orgasm burned through me, taking my breath away. Yeager did not relent. His large, animalistic member drove me crazy. Soon I climaxed again, a rich, satisfying sensation that caused me to cry out. Then Yeager’s hand found the patch of fur on my back and grabbed hold as he managed to fuck me even harder.
“You’re so fucking beautiful, fur ball,” he told me through clenched teeth. I couldn’t respond now. The pleasure was too much to bear. My breath caught in my throat for a moment as yet another indulgent orgasm washed over me. After a moment, however, I could not deny the need. I lifted my head and howled like a wolf. Yeager joined me as we shared a moment, each of us hovering between two worlds, not quite wolves but not really human either.
Suddenly, Yeager growled at me as he threw me onto the soft sand. He loomed over me, his cock never leaving me. He drove into me, his desperation apparent. I sobbed as the pleasure overwhelmed me. My legs wrapped around Yeager, pulling him even deeper. The air swirled with stars and bright flashes of light as I arched in reaction to the most powerful climax yet. I pounded my fists on the soft sand, the sensations almost intolerably satisfying.
Then my mate lowered his body onto mine, his arm slipping under my neck and his tongue invading my mouth. I sucked it greedily as I was ravaged by our love. I dragged my nails down his back, drawing blood I was sure. Yeager tensed, his muscles flexing under the silver fur running down his spine. He lifted his head, howling into the night as he filled me with his seed, its warmth flowing into me. I howled as well, letting my inner wolf express its excitement and contentment.
When Yeager came back to himself, he looked into my eyes as he fought to catch his breath. “I love you so much. I’ve waited so long to have you. I still can’t quite believe you’re mine,” he said. I smiled as I felt his knot grow within me, an adaptation of wolves to insure the act was completed as nature intended. Yeager, and all male shifters as far as I knew, shared the trait with our canine brethren.
“I still can’t quite wrap my head around it. In some ways, it feels like I’ve known you my whole life but in others, it’s like we met yesterday. All I know is that I love you desperately,” I told Yeager. He breathed heavily over me as he drank me in.
“You’re the most important thing in the world to me. We are a pack, mates for life. I won’t let anything happen to you,” he said. I knew of what he spoke. He referred to Lady Violet and the apprehension we both felt about her.
“I know. I won’t let anything happen to you either. As a woman, you must be my protector but as a wolf, I’m at least your equal,” I told Yeager. His eyes narrowed and he groaned.
“Yes, you are. I find that so sexy. You’re a beautiful woman,” he said touching the shock of white hair amongst my jet black tresses, “But as a wolf, you’re a serious badass.” I giggled at that.
“And don’t you forget it, old man,” I replied and pulled him down to kiss me. We shared a kiss but as the passion waned, I couldn’t take it. “I don’t know about you, but I’m freezing my ass off,” I said. Yeager smiled.
“Me too. Let’s go back to the motorhome and fire up the heater,” he said. I nodded. We kissed again and separated,
Yeager’s knot long gone. He rolled away, shifting as he went. A moment later, a gray wolf stood waiting. I changed as well, wiggling to gain my paws as I did. Now wearing my black coat with the white patch, I was no longer cold. I looked at my mate and he knew what I wanted. We headed away from the motorhome into the landscape beyond. There was plenty of time for sleep and the desert begged to be explored.
~~O~~
We found Edie curled up on the sofa when we finally returned. She had already fired up the heater and the motorhome was toasty warm. It was well after midnight but Yeager and I could sleep in a bit. The following morning, we woke to Edie making waffles, the same recipe I used to serve at the Rusty Skillet. We both had been pressed into service in the kitchen from time to time and we knew our way around. Such was the nature of a small diner.
“Those smell like Gold Canyon,” I remarked as I emerged from the bedroom. Edie turned and smiled at me.
“Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I’m always flooded with memories when I make these,” Edie replied.
“Good ones, I hope,” I told her.
“Yeah, of you and me growing up and working at the diner. I miss that place sometimes,” she said.
“Me too but I’m happy where I ended up,” I replied as Yeager stumbled out in nothing but jeans rubbing his eyes.
“Smells like Gold Canyon in here,” he said. Edie and I looked at each other and then at Yeager. “What?” he asked.
“Get out of my head,” I playfully admonished him but it was too early for Yeager to comprehend.
“Geez, get some coffee,” Edie told him.
“You made coffee? I love you, Edie,” I blurted out and grabbed a mug from the cabinet. I handed it to Yeager, grabbed another and offered it to Edie. She pointed at her full cup. I took it and filled my mug and then grabbed the sugar and creamer and sat at the dinette. Yeager joined me.
“He looks like a zombie,” Edie observed. Yeager tested his coffee after adding creamer and sugar and then began to complain.
