Chasing Delia

“Well, I for one am glad that's over,” Jake said.

  “Me too.”

She was relaxed for all of two seconds when he said, “I found your dad if you want to see what he looks like.”

She tensed all over again. “Already? That was quick.”

Her heart was racing. She may not be actually meeting her father, but she would put a face and a story to the a man she'd been dreaming about her entire life.

“As much as I would like to take credit for my amazing investigative skill, it was actually pretty easy,” he said. “Come on.”

Jake took her hand, leading her through the small station. They passed big perfunctory old metal desks covered in stacks of paper work and folders in all states of completion. It wasn't unlike the station she was brought to as a kid when her mother got arrested. She figured all police stations were much the same in smaller towns.

The few officers at the station nodded and smiled as they passed. She was familiar with his efficient little office tucked away in the corner of the station. They went in and the blinds on the door window clinked on the glass pane as he shut the door. Rounding his desk, he typed in the code to gain access to his computer before sitting down.

This was it. He looked up seeming to notice her nervous hesitation. “You don't have to do this. If you changed your mind I can forget everything I found on him.”

“No, I want to know,” she said, Her mouth was suddenly dry. “So, before I see his picture, what did you find out about him?”

He rubbed the back of his neck indicating he was uncomfortable.

“I'm a big girl,” she said. “Just yesterday I got shot at.”

Jake groaned, shaking his head. “Don't remind me. I'm still trying to block that, star shine.”

She continued as if she hadn't heard him. “I also spanked your ass like a pro.” At his raised brow she backtracked. “All right, that didn't go so well. But I did open up about my childhood and I divorced my high school sweetheart, for the second time. I can take whatever you're about to tell me.”

Jake stared her down, seeming to take her measure before he nodded his head.“All right,” he said. “Thomas Myers lives in coastal Georgia. He's been married to a woman named Sue for twenty-three years. They have two daughters, ages twenty-one and nineteen. Beth and Rachel. They also have a seventeen-year-old son named after your father, Thomas Scott Myers Jr. But according to his Facebook profile, he goes by Scott.”

She heard one detail and latched onto it. He'd been married for twenty-three years. He didn't leave her mother to marry someone else. He had known she existed for six years and hadn't come back for her. Not once. “He had six years to come back and see me. Six years before he started another family. I could understand not wanting to be with a woman, but he didn't want me either. His own kid.” She couldn't help feeling devastated. Ever since she found out she really had a father, a part of her was hoping he wasn't the kind of bastard who could just abandon his child.

Jake swiveled out his chair and pulled her down to sit her in his lap. He rubbed her back and kissing her hair as she sat there numbly.

“Do you still want to see what he looks like?” Jake asked.

She nodded and he clicked his mouse, bringing up a few pictures of her father. The first one must have been current. It was an older man. He had a shock of curly, sandy blond hair, but his hairline had receded and he had gray peppered throughout. He was doughy around the middle. And he was short. “He looks like a leprechaun,” she said.

Jake snorted. “Del you never say what I think you're going to. He does not look like a leprechaun.”

  “He's short.”

  “You're short.”

  “I am.”

They sat there quietly for a minute as she studied the picture of her father. She was having trouble forming words. He wasn't anything she had expected. Especially after how her mother had described him yesterday. Yesterday, she couldn't believe it had only been a day. “Is there a picture of him when he was younger?”

Jake clicked, and a picture of a young handsome man came up. He was fit, if not a bit wiry. She snorted.“This is the golden god my mother has been devastated over for twenty-nine years.” It was more a statement than a question. “What does his family look like?”

She wiped her suddenly sweaty palms on her jeans as Jake clicked and made a few pictures come up. The first was a family shot, the kind taken at a shop studio, where they all dressed in similar colors. The men had on peach-colored golf shirts and khaki slacks. The girls wore cute little white dresses, bordered in the same shade of peach as the guys shirts. Something about the picture hit her straight in the gut.

That was her father. Those were her sisters and brother. She was technically related to all the people in the picture but one. Yet she knew they would never be her family. Not really. And she didn't want them to be. She would always be an outsider to the group of people in this picture. She was done being an outsider. She would make her own family someday, and she'd have her own loved ones. And they would never abandon her. She'd be someone's loved one, she assured herself. She felt Jake at her back and realized she already was.

She studied people who could have been her siblings had her father been a better man. The girls, Beth and Rachel. One had similar facial features to her. They both had dark hair like their mother, a pretty petite woman with dark shoulder-length hair. Scott had curly sandy blond hair a bit darker than her own.

She wondered what they'd think of her. The older black sheep sister with a checkered past. They probably had never experienced going hungry as a child because their mother was passed out in her own vomit. Or had to crush up cereal to make their own version of a birthday cake when they turned seven, because their mother hadn't been home in five days and probably would have been too drunk to remember had she been home. When she was a teenager she had made her own cakes from a box mix she got at the store.

She still clearly remembered the first time Connar's mom made her a cake. It was her nineteenth birthday, after they got married. The cake had been three-tiered lemon cake, with fluffy white icing. It was nicer than the sheet cake they had at their small wedding. She had taken one look at the cake and started to cry. She cried so hard Connar had gotten mad at her. She had raced to the bathroom humiliated. She came out later, after she had pulled herself together, and they all acted as though nothing had happened. He never asked about why she had cried, and she never brought it up. Connar just hadn't understood how much that cake meant. But she thought Susan had. After that, she and Susan made the cakes together. That was when she thought Susan really cared.

Delia took a deep shaky breath. She was starting to feel sorry for herself and that wouldn't do. “I think I'm done learning about my dear, old dad and his picture perfect family.”

Jake clicked off the screen before gathering her close. She loved being near him. Breathing in his familiar scent helped ease her.

“I'm working a double shift to make up for being out yesterday,” Jake said. “But why don't you get some dinner, on me, and take it back to my place. Maybe you and Kat can watch girly movies and order some pizzas. I'm sure Steven would love that.”

“Oh, I'm sure.” Delia giggled imagining how much Steven would not appreciate having to watch something like French Kiss or Bridget Jones, but it sounded perfect just the same. “I'm assuming you want me to spend the night again? You know I still have my lady thing, right? Two nights of just cuddling in a row may ruin your playboy reputation.”

He smiled and she was hit with the full force of how incredibly attractive Jake Forrester really was. “You know,” she said. “Sometimes I forget how disgustingly good looking you are.”

He pinched her side, making her squeal. “You know star shine, I have never dated anyone that has bemoaned my good looks before you.”

“And as you'll see, none of those hordes of women are here. Obviously getting by on looks alone didn't get you too far,” she said with a sassy smile.

  He gave her a mo
ck severe look. “That's going to earn you a spanking missy.” He said this grabbing a handful of her fanny, as he took her mouth in the kind of kiss designed to make her wish it was another time of the month. She also wished they were not at the station, where anyone could walk in on them. She groaned when he finally pulled back.

“You better get out of here or I'll have you bent over this desk for a preview of what you're going to be getting in a few days,” he said.

She gave him a quick peck on the cheek as she climbed off his lap. Not before noticing his erection. “I don't think that would be setting a good example, should anyone walk in on us,” she said.

“I think it would be setting a great example.”

  She huffed, “Jake.”

  He mocked, “Del.”

She quirked a brow, crossing her arms over her chest. He took that as a challenge, moving out around the desk to lock his door and close the blinds. “Oh no,” she said. “Jake, what if people hear us?” The last came out a whisper-yell, as if everyone out there was already eavesdropping.

He just grinned. He sauntered back behind the desk, removing each stack of files, pens, keyboard, and knick-knacks. Setting each on the ground next to the desk, efficiently, one piece of a time. “There isn't hardly anyone out there right now,” he said. “No one's even close to the door. No reason for them to come back here. Not unless there is an emergency. If you haven't noticed Del, there aren't a lot of emergencies in Hope Springs. Now get that fanny over here.”

No sooner had the man said it than he had her bent over the cold hard surface of his desk. He rubbed his hand over her bottom, and it was easy to feel the heat of his hand through the thin material of her yoga pants. She only had a moment to enjoy the feel of him rubbing and squeezing her cheeks before his hand struck down. The shock sent tingles down her spine. Left cheek, then right. To her ears, the slaps sounded like gunshots, and her face glowed red thinking about being overheard.

Two more slow strikes, then his hand peppered down in quick slaps, covering every inch of her bottom in delicious stings. She was getting more than a little turned on as she gripped the edge of the desk. She lifted onto her tip toes to raise her fanny to each strike. The last strike hit her just right and she heard herself moan long and deep. She wouldn't be surprised if she came from the spanking alone.

“Oh star shine, I'm cursing mother nature right now,” Jake said. So was she. “I'm going to need to do this again when I can have you naked,” he said. “I bet I'd be able to see how wet and ready this spanking has made you. Wouldn't I?”

She just whimpered at his words and lifted her bottom for another strike, but he wasn't having any of it. Stepping behind her, he pressed the hard length of his discomfort against her throbbing bottom, making her groan low, and grind her hips back. He cursed, grabbing her hips to keep her from moving. “You're killing me, Del. Maybe this wasn't such a great idea. I'm going to spend the rest of the night hard as a walking stick.”

She got a wicked idea. Pushing off the desk she turned and got down on her knees. If both of them couldn't be satisfied, at least he could be. She started to undo his belt and he fumbled to stop her hands. “Shit Del, that isn't necessary.”

She just gave him a smirk. “I think it is.” She pulled her hands out of his hold, quickly undoing his belt and top button while he tried to bat her hands away.

“I'm a big boy,” he said. “I can make it through an evening with a cock-stand, star shine. I should know, I lived through my teens.”

She gave her best pout. “You don't want me to suck your big boy cock?” He groaned and she went in for the kill. “I just want to make you feel as good as you make me feel. I need to feel you come Jake.” And a part of her really did need to feel his pleasure and know she had been the one to drive him to it. She knew her words were provocative. She was surprising herself with her new found wantonness. He finally conceded, letting go of her hands. His gorgeous blue eyes filled with hope and hunger as she quickly pulled open his pants, lest he change his mind.

Once she got his hard length in her hand she had a moment of intimidation. This had been the source of so much of her new found pleasure. She wanted to give back as much as she could. A pearly drop appeared on the tip and she quickly licked the salty driblet off. She followed by sucking down as much of his length as she could before easing back. She was once again surprised by how much she enjoyed the musky taste of his sex.

Wrapping one hand around his base she set up a rhythm of sucking and retreating, only to stop and lick up the length and around the tip, then do it again. She brought another hand up to explore his testicles and was rewarded with a little whimper and a hip thrust from him. She may not be very experienced with this sort of thing, but she was dedicated to making up for it with enthusiasm.

It wasn't long before he placed a guiding hand in her hair, gently thrusting into her mouth. She could hear his breathing speed up as she worked her hand at his base while she sucked harder. Trying to breathe through her nose and not gag, as his thrusts came faster. She put one hand on his hip to steady herself. She could feel his cock growing larger in her mouth and she knew he was close.

One, two, three pumps, and he was groaning in completion. Holding her tight to him, his salty essence filled her throat. She sucked as hard as she could, swallowing repeatedly as he carefully pulled his flagging self from her mouth. He fell back into his seat with his cock still hanging out his pants. He was breathing hard and looking dazed. “Fuck Del. I, I don't even know. That was incredible.” She just gave him a self-satisfied grin.

He pulled himself together, while she got up and brushed off her knees, now blushing at her own brazenness. He yanked her onto his lap, pulling her face in for a thorough kiss. She could still taste him on her tongue as he devoured her mouth. His kiss gentled until he eased back, stroking the side of her face with his thumb.

She asked, “Can you taste yourself when you kiss me?” He nodded, his lips cocking up in a half grin. “What's that like?” She asked.

He smiled. “It's a bit of a rush. Like claiming a territory and knowing you own it. It's satisfying.”

She gave him a doubtful look. “If you say so Captain.”

“I do. Soon as I can I'll show you what it's like to taste yourself on my mouth. Since you seemed to have forgotten.”

She shivered. She had been into much of a haze that first time, having experienced her first orgasm.

He kissed her gently before patting her hip. “Up you go.” He picked her up by the waist to set her on her feet.

She moved to go around his desk and almost tripped over all the stuff he'd removed from its surface, making her giggle. “Well I guess I'll let you get back to your hard work. Think of me while you put your desk back to rights.”

He reached out long to smack her fanny. “Take mercy on me Del, I still have days until I can have you naked.”

Grinning, she came back around to give him another kiss. Standing there gazing down at him, she could see all his love for her reflected in his beautiful eyes, and it was humbling. Just a moment ago she was feeling devastated, and now because of this man, she would spend the evening floating on air. She wasn't sure how he did it. It was on the tip of her tongue to tell him how much she loved him, but again she just couldn't get the words out. Instead she joked, “Don't worry Captain. I'm worth the wait.”

“Damned if you aren't star shine. Damned if you aren't.” He said it in a way that made her wonder if he had caught her hesitation. She wasn't sure why she couldn't spit out the words to the one man in her life who deserved to hear them more than anyone else.

She gave him one last kiss before walking to the door to let herself out.

“Oh wait,” he said pulling out his wallet. “Here's some money for pizza.”

“You don't have to buy pizza you're not going to be around to eat.”

“Steven eats like a linebacker. Take the money, it will make me feel better.”

She rolled her eyes, but took t
he money. He called out, “Be good. I'll see you tonight star shine.”

As she unlocked the door, she turned and teased, “I'll be the one sleeping in your bed.”

Jake grinned, “Snoring like a grizzly.”

She stuck out her tongue before turning and making her way out of the station, smiling and nodding to anyone she passed. She was blushing once again realizing how many people had come in at the end of their shift. If anyone had heard her and Jake in his office, she really didn't want to know. She was too happy to let it bother her if they had. She walked out with her head held high.

She smiled all the way to the bakery to pick up Kat. Then she smiled all the way to Jake's house, where Steven was waiting after getting a call from his dad. It wasn't until much later snuggled in Jake's arms that she realized she had been smiling all night. She was definitely in trouble. She had never loved anyone as much as she loved Jake Forrester, and should he choose to ever end things, she wasn't sure how she would ever recover.

  CHAPTER THIRTEEN

The next few weeks were blissful. Delia’s insecurities and worries were buried, for a time, under Jake's glowing attention. She found herself giving her affection as easily as he doled it out. No longer did she have sleepless nights from Kat’s chipmunk sounds. At Jake's insistence she stayed most nights with him. Her nights were now often sleepless for much more preferable reasons.

The nights he had to work she would stay at Jake's house, spending the evening with Steven before tucking herself into the comfort of Jake's big bed. Jake said he enjoyed coming home to find her in his bed like a treat for working long, often boring hours.

The first such evening she had been a bit nervous staying with Steven. They had plenty of time, just the two of them. They had hung out on Jake's working nights before, but not since she and Jake had become intimate. It had been just Steven and his dad for so long she was worried Steven might resent her or see her as some kind of interloper, consuming so much of Jake's time and attention.

They had made popcorn and watched ‘My Bloody Valentine,’ a movie decision she regretted letting Steven make. She spent the first half of the movie with her head ducked under the blanket. Steven’s hooting and hollering of hilarity as heads went rolling—chopped off with great frequency—made her peek out from under the blanket.
