Between a Rock and a Hard Place
Page 34
It worked both ways. Penny knew his body, as well, knew every hard muscle, every ripple, and bend that he had to offer. Women around the world, dreamed of touching a body like his. Yet, here he was, worshiping hers.
She found herself shuttering as he dipped two fingers into her warmth, finding her special spot, instantly. As he began to rub her spongy ledge, Penny felt her legs start to tremble. No longer, could she deny her want for him.
"Fuck me!" Penny ordered, yanking his fingers from her center. Flipping around in his arms, she pressed both her palms, flat on the wall. Next, she spread her legs, nice and wide, pushing her ass into the perfect position. "Please Cole, just make it better?" She pleaded, her head turning until she could lock eyes with him, once more.
Cole hated what he saw in her hazels, hated that she thought, this, could fix it, but he nodded, just the same. He wasn’t man enough to give her the time to change her mind, instead, he gripped his cock, pressing it to her warmth.
His hands covered hers on the wall as his lips found her neck and shoulders, kissing and licking, while his hips, slowly bucked against her backside.
Penny’s breath was labored as she tried to fight back tears. She really wasn't sure why she wanted to cry. Her body was in heaven. The feel of Cole slipping, in and out of her tight center, had her
eye's wanting to roll back in her head, but something deep in her soul, still had her in a twist.
"Touch me," she begged, needing his hands on her body more than the air in her lungs.
Cole’s large calloused hand, wasted no time, in sliding down her arm, across her tummy and eventually, to where her womanhood set filled with his shaft.
"You’re so fucking beautiful, Penny Lane. So damn perfect…, fuck!" He moaned into her ear, feeling her walls starting to suck his shaft.
"Harder," was all he got back from her. No heartfelt declarations, or kind words even, just a command to do her pussies bidding.
Cole didn’t hesitate. He gripped her hips as he started in with some, real force. Gritting his teeth, he tried like hell to hold back his release. It was so damn hard, though, with the way she was pushing her ass back, meeting him thrust for thrust.
The sound of moans and whimpers could be heard, echoing off the walls, right along with the sound of skin slapping against skin. "Come on Penny Lane, come for me babygirl!" Cole begged as he started to jackhammer her box from behind.
"I'm so fucking close!” She informed, in a strangled tone, almost sounding frustrated.
He could tell that she wanted more, that she needed it. Quickly he ripped his cock free of her center, spinning her body around until he could press her back, against the wall. He wasted no time in bending down until he could hook her knees over his elbows, hoisting her up the tiles, before plunging back into her warm, wet, depths.
"Oh fuck, yes, yes, yes!" She cried out as her body gushed. Thank goodness they were in the shower because her dripping wet pussy was making a damn mess of both of them.
"That's it, let me have it!" Cole encouraged, still bucking his hips, as he forced her weight, up and down with ease. He was close as well, a few more thrusts and he was gonna be a goner. “Tell me you’re still, my girl, Penny Lane.” He pleaded, in a whisper.
“I’m your yours, I’ve always been yours!”
Her response was instant and so was his. His seed, filled her depths, making her entire body feel warmer, by at least, ten degrees.
Moments ticked by as the pair, clung to one another. As if the storm had passed, but they were the only survivors left.
“Feel better?” He questioned, breaking the silence just as his cock was slipping from her creamy folds.
Gently, he let her slide down the wall until her feet, where once again, planted on the floor. Her legs wobbled a bit, as he lifted her chin, forcing her to look him in the eye.
"A little," she admitted.
“Good, now, how about you let me take you home? I’ll make you a snack and get you ready for bed. T.J. told me your car broke down again.” Cole offered, pulling her into his chest for a very naked hug.
He had to steal these little moments whenever he could. It was rare that she allowed him to touch her, and even rarer, that she allowed him to, right after they got done, doing what they just had.
"Fuck it, why not?" She shrugged, sounding exhausted.
She knew, that it was a bad idea but she couldn’t help herself. Just like she hadn’t been able to lie to Cole when he had asked her if she was his girl. Deep down, it was true. She would at, some level, always be his girl, just like he, would always be her man. It didn’t really count for anything other then, feels good in the moment, though. But, that’s what she needed. She needed Cole tonight, needed him to take care of her, in the way, he, only seemed capable of. Even if it was, just for the night. She needed his shelter, more than her pride needed to have the last word.
T.J. sat on the couch, his eyes, glued to the tablet in his hand. Scarface was playing out on the little screen and the boy was paying great attention. He’d been practicing his, Pacino, for weeks now. He was planning a big reveal to Cole, whenever a good time came up. That’s the thing with impersonations, they gotta be used, at just the right time. Cole had taught him that.
T.J. jerked in his skin, hearing the key press into the lock. With the swiftness of a ninja or a boy about to be caught red-handed, T.J. stuffed the forbidden device under his shirt. A quick snuggle into the couch and he was home free, pretending to be sound asleep, like he should have been, three hours ago.
"You almost killed us!" Penny accused, pushing open the
door with a smirk on her face.
"Oh come on, you used to love it when I drove fast."
Cole reminded, stepping in behind her before closing the door.
"Yeah, well, that was years ago. Back when I was young and dumb." She mused, peeking over the couch to find T.J., fast asleep. Turning back around she found Cole, already busy in the kitchen.
"What sounds good?" He questioned, as he opened and closed the cabinet doors, in search of the perfect snack to go along with a nightcap.
"Cereal?" She suggested, coming to stand beside him.
"It's three in the morning." He reminded, giving her an odd look.
"Yeah, three in the morning. Morning time, means cereal, silly
Rabbit." She teased, bumping his hip with hers. The little smile she gave him was priceless.
"Alright, if you say so, my love," He laughed, pulling down a box of cereal off the shelf. It had a rabbit on the front and some selfish looking children. “You go sit down, I got this.” He offered, grabbing a bowl and spoons before making his way over to where she now sat at the kitchen table.
Penny eyed him, as he first filled her bowl with milk, then cereal, just the way she liked. For some reason, she had always felt it odd that people poured the cereal first then the milk. It just didn’t set well with her for some reason and Cole, knew that. Then again, he knew every cork she had, and most days, he indulged them all.
“You’re so weird,” he noted, just as he always did, whenever he made her cereal for her, in the odd order.
“Indeed,” she agreed, pulling the bowl her way at the same time he lifted her booted feet into his lap.
He made light work of stripping them off, along with her socks, before starting in, on one of his epic, ‘marry this man, like right fucking, now’ foot rubs.
She watched him, just as she had time and time again, over the years. It was these little things, cereal poured right, fingers working knots in her foot, and his beautiful green eyes stealing glances at her, through his long dark lashes. It was those, little things, that always forced her to smile, forced her to feel his love, and forced her to hate him as well.
"Why do you gotta be such an asshole? Ya know, if it wasn't for that, some woman, would be lucky to have you. Why do you always gotta fuck it all up?” She questioned, stuffing her mouth with cereal.
"It can't be helped, I think it's just who I am.
Besides, I don’t wanna make, any other woman, lucky. I just wanna loiter around you and be an asshole." He informed with a grin and a wink sent her way.
"I think it's bad for you, always having me here to fall back on. I think it’s bad for me as well, for the exact same reasons.” She mused, eyeing him from across the table.
"How about you just stop, okay? It's late, you're tired. Let's just give it a rest." He offered, sending her a pointed look.
Cole knew exactly what she was doing, over thinking shit, just liked she always did. It only tended to get worse, when she was sleepy and right now, the girl was dead on her feet.
"You bitch that I won’t open up to you, but then when I do, you bitch, and tell me to stop. You’re such a man." She informed, taking another large bite of her sugar loaded treat.
"I just know, you, Penny Lane. So, I know when you're just trying to pick a fight with me." He said, with a knowing smile.
He was right, she was trying to pick a fight with him. She needed him to leave. This was all feeling way too nice, way too damn comfortable, that was for sure. She had a real fear, that if he stayed, she might just slip, let her guard down, and beg him never to leave. She couldn’t have that.
"Maybe, or maybe I just really wanna talk about this." She returned with a raised brow.
"Alright, you wanna talk, we'll talk. What is it that you would like to discuss, my love? I’m all ears."
"I don’t know,” she started, her eyes darting down to her bowl. “How about we talk about reasons.”
“What reasons, in particular?” Cole questioned, knowing this was a bad game to play with her.
“Your reasons for straying, back then.
“Really?” he sighed out, wishing that he had never gotten into this conversation with her, yet knowing, he hadn’t really had a choice.
“Yes really, was it me or was it the distance?" Penny continued, her eyes finally meeting his again.
It was something she had always been curious about, yet never had asked. She watched as he sucked in a deep breath, his eyes falling to where her bare feet still laid across his lap. She couldn’t deny that he looked a bit lost for words. That was so unlike him. Cole always knew just what to say, and even if he didn’t, he would still blurt something out. Now, though, he truly looked lost. A long moment passed and she wondered if he was going to answer her at all. Her spoon, stilled, midway to her mouth, as he finally spoke out, once again.
"I don’t really know, I don’t. I was just young and stupid. I didn't do it to hurt you, I can tell you that much. I can also tell you, that it wasn’t because of something you did or didn’t do, and that’s the honest to God truth. It was just there for the taking. I knew it was wrong, but, I did it anyway.” He testified to his sins, still eyeing her feet, completely unable to meet her gaze.
“Why, though?”
She kept on him, just like he knew she would.
“Again, I don’t really know. I mean, it felt good to have all those women throwing themselves at me, obviously. What man wouldn't love that, shit?” That statement, earned him a glare, that he knew was on him, even though, his eyes still hadn’t met hers.
“I can tell you this, none of them, ever held a candle to you. No one ever has.”
“Bullshit!” Penny scoffed.
“Not bullshit, why do you think I'm still here, why do you think I can't ever seem to leave you alone? You have to know, by now, that I'm sorry. I'm sorry for before, I'm sorry for everything I ever put you through." He noted, finally glancing back up at her.
The look in his eyes had Penny’s soul twisting. He meant it, every word but she wished, he didn't. This would all be so much easier if he was just some asshole, but he wasn't.
"Cole, you know that I can't give you what you want, not now. Honestly, I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to. I want to, I really do. I miss you… sometimes. I miss who we used to be…, together but I just can't let go of the hurt, I just can't, not yet."
Finally, she told the truth. She had never said, it out loud, never admitted, as much to him, as she had in this moment. He had always known it, though, just the same. That’s the part that killed him. It was the knowing that she wanted him just as badly as he wanted her, yet she couldn’t just let it happen. It was all his fault. He had turned her into what she was today, jaded and resentful. Penny’s eyes locked on his, and she wondered if she had said, too much. She wasn't trying to give him false hope or take away his dreams. She just wanted, to be honest with him, for once. A moment passed in silence before he spoke out again.
"How about, you just do whatever makes you happy. Hate me when you want, yell at me, poison my applesauce, I don’t care.”
That one, had Penny letting out a bit of a muffled giggle. “I mean it, Penny Lane. When you feel something toward me, show it, good or bad. Kiss me when you want, call me when you need me, let me hold ya when you wanna be touched. Just go with your gut, go with however you’re feeling at the moment. Hate me one second, love me the next, because I know you do both, at least, ten times a day, maybe more. Maybe one day, you might forgive me, maybe you won't, but either way, I'm gonna be around, until the day, I can look into your eyes, and know, without a shadow of a doubt, that you’ve made up your mind, one way or the other when it comes to me and you. I’m not going anywhere until that day, Penny Lane.”
Damn him. Damn him all to hell. Damn his honest green eyes, damn his perfect words, and damn his heart that was laid out on the table between them, most of all. What the fuck was she supposed to say back to that? A moment passed and she still had nothing, no response that she was willing to give, anyway. So instead, she pulled her feet off his lap, before pushing off her chair. Leaning down she pressed a soft kiss to his forehead, letting it linger.
"Goodnight, Cole," she whispered before making her escape down the hall.
As soon as she got inside her room, Penny quickly closed the door on him and on all of the enticing words that he had spoken. The Devil was trying to tempt her, by sending her a demon, disguised as an angel. Penny was sure of it.
Cole let out a deep breath, watching as her bedroom door slammed shut. It didn’t matter, she could walk away all she wanted. He knew that she had heard every word that he had had to say, even if she hadn’t wanted to. He would let her sit with it for awhile, allow his words to hopefully sink in.
He stood, making his way over to the couch to look down at T.J.
"Quit faking and go to bed. We leave out at O-500." He reminded, before turning to head for the door.
"White water rafting, O-500 got it! Did you get the permit?!" T.J. questioned, popping up on the couch.
"You know it!" Cole turned back to wink just before the door closed behind him.
Chapter 21
P enny laid awake in her bed, tossing and turning. She had been at it for hours, now. She was more than a little frustrated that sleep wouldn’t seem come her way. She was dog tired and running on fumes. Her brain hurt from replaying what Cole had said, over and over again, in her head. It wasn’t just that, though, that had her on edge. It was Able as well. Their short time together still haunted her thoughts.
Her sheets were not helping anything, either. Faintly, she was positive, that she could still smell Able on the fibers. She knew it was time to wash them, but she just couldn’t do it, not with that little trace of him, still clinging to the material.
Letting out a frustrated growl, she rolled over to snag her phone off the nightstand. She chewed her lip, eyeing his contact info. She should just erase it. Hell, why keep it? He was back in New York or wherever his fame had taken him tonight. He was off living his life. He probably didn't even think about her, anymore. An entire month had gone by, no doubt, he had already had ten other love affairs, by now. That's just how celebrities were, she should know. She let out a deep breath, trying not to think about that, last part.
Her mind drifted to their night together, to their filthy love making. His lips, his kiss, his taste. The way he took everything
from her and made her realize she didn't want it anyway. She felt so free with him.
Cole's words from earlier slipped into her mind. ‘Do whatever makes you happy, go with your gut’ over and over again, his words rang out. Penny had never done something, for no other reason, than that it made her happy. The very thought of it, had her feeling a little selfish. Could she really just do that, just say, fuck everything else, and make herself happy, for once? What the hell even made her happy? T.J. made her happy…, most days. Cole made her happy as well, or tried to, at least.
She found herself thinking back, on her time with Able, of smiling until her cheeks hurt, of laughing, and of feeling weightless around him. She thought back to the magical time before the troublesome truth had come out, when it was just perfection and nothing more. There was no weight to it then, no hold backs. She and Able didn't have a history weighing them down like she and Cole did. Before the shit hit the fan and reality showed it’s ugly face, she had been happy with Able, more than happy, ecstatic even.
Taking a deep breath, she realized that she had a pretty damn bad case of the fuck it’s, tonight. First with Cole, letting him get close, and now, with her phone in her hand, ready to text Able. What the hell was wrong with her, lately, anyway? She was sure she was losing her mind, one heartache at a time.
‘Just go with your gut’ Cole's words rang out, yet again.
Fuck it, from here on out, that's what she was gonna do. She was gonna do exactly what she wanted to, stop holding back, and stop being careful all the time. She deserved a little piece for herself, deserved to be a little wild, a little crazy, and more than a little stupid, even. You only live once, right?
"Hey, stranger…,"
She hit send, then cursed herself, ‘hey stranger’, who the fuck says that? She was such a freaking tool sometimes.
