“Why wasn’t I told about this? Where are the fucking morons that were supposed to ice your punk ass?”

“You’d be surprised how easy it is to buy silence. It’s just too bad I couldn’t save Olivia.” Trent laughed as he took another pull of his cigar.

“Carmine, this is some bullshit! You set me up!” Darius yelled.

“No, you set your own self up, you stupid ass! I had plans on making myself scarce until I was notified to come back because you were trying to ruin everything my uncle worked for.” Trent flicked the ashes from his cigar.

“Did you think I wouldn’t find out about what you were trying to do behind my back? Carmine screamed over the speakerphone. “Do you know who I am? Do you know who you are fucking with?”

“Carmine, man, I didn’t know anything about any of this.” Big J interjected.

Darius looked at him shocked. “You backstabbing…”

“Both of you shut up! I have had enough of listening to your lies! I told you I don’t do well with sharing.”

“Look Carmine, we can talk about this like rational adults. All this mobster bullshit isn’t even necessary! I mean, we were good friends at one time. You’re going to let some cop tell you lies about me? Carmine? Carmine?”

  There was nothing but silence..

  “Carmine!” Darius yelled.

“See, D, I tried to tell you that you didn’t know who you were fucking with, but you didn’t listen to me.” Trent laughed.

“Fuck you Trent! That’s okay. I had a good time fucking your bitch while you were playing James Bond.” Darius laughed.

Trent laughed. “I’m glad you did. I’d want you to remember it in hell.” He reached in his back pocket and pulled out a small box of matches.

  “Oh shit!” Big J screamed.

Trent smiled ear to ear as he struck two matches and tossed one on Big J and then one onto Darius. He stood for a moment and watched them scream and burn before he turned and walked out of the warehouse.

  Chapter 23

Simone and Neal arrived at Peaches’ grave site with heavy hearts. Simone sat down in the grass by her tombstone and swept away the leaves that had blown on it.

“I feel like we let her down.” Simone said with tears n her eyes.

Neal stooped down in front of her. “Never! You fought like hell to get that bastard put away; you even put your own life at risk!”

“I know, but look what it got us. He walked out of there like he owned the world. I just wish I had stayed here with her.” Tears blinded her eyes and choked her voice.

Neal wrapped his arms around her as she pressed her hands over her face and began to cry convulsively.

“Excuse me?” A male voice came from behind Neal.

“Who the hell are you?” Neal said as he stood up in front of Simone shielding her. “Get the hell out of here! This is a very private moment!”

“I apologize. I just have something for Ms. Carmichael.”

“What could you possibly have for her at a graveyard?” Neal said as his neck started to move. “I advise you to get out of here before we call the police!”

Simone stood up and patted Neal on the shoulder. “It’s okay. What is it? It has to be important for you to track me down here.”

  He handed her a letter.

  “What’s this?” She asked.

“I was instructed to give this to you after the trial was over.”

Simone and Neal looked at one another confused. “By who?”

The man smiled as he walked away. “Open the letter.”

Simone opened the envelope and pulled out the letter inside.

“Oh my God, it’s from Peaches!” She said as tears filled her already red eyes.

  Dear big sis,

Okay so if you are reading this I’m dead; which sucks, because I had major plans to be the next “Supahead”. Oh well, I guess.

I am writing this to you to tell you to live, boo. I love you so much, you know that right? Just know that I died doing something I have always wanted to do, to protect you for a change. You have always been my protector, now it was my chance to be there for you. So please don’t blame yourself for any of it. It was all my choice. I wanted to save this for after the trial was over, because I knew that once I was gone you would go out of your way to get back at whoever did it. So, however the trial went, I don’t care. I want you to pick yourself up off my grave (see how well I know you? I know that is probably where my lawyer found you.) So go out there and live, baby! We will see each other again. I’m not in that ground, so don’t spend all your time sitting there like I am. I love you big sis. See you later…much later.

  Love you always,

  Peaches

P.S. - Tell Neal he better take care of you or I may just come back to kick his homo ass! :O)

Simone wiped the tears from her eyes as she closed the letter and held it close to her heart because she knew that is where Peaches would always be.
