Chapter 679 Yaoyao’s Gift
“What gift?”
In the cave dwelling, Zhou Yuan’s heart rate jumped up again as he gazed at Yaoyao in his arms, his mouth somewhat dry.
Yaoyao escaped from his embrace, a faint blush still visible on her pretty face as she pointed at him and said, “Take off your clothes first.”
“Here?” Zhou Yuan was stupefied.
Yaoyao glanced at him. “Where else?”
Zhou Yuan hesitated as he looked towards Tuntun happily drinking on the table. Embarrassed, he said, “Tuntun is still here, how about we get it to sleep outside the cave tonight?”
Tuntun: “???”
Yaoyao’s expression turned calm as a dark green jade-like Genesis Rune Brush appeared in her hand. “I’m saying that I’m going to help you inscribe the Great Dragon Subduing Rune.
“Take off your clothes, so I can draw it.”
The Dragon’s Resentment Poison in Zhou Yuan’s body had resurged a year ago, and Yaoyao had barely managed to suppress it with the help of Tuntun’s blood. But to truly subdue it and prevent further backlash, Yaoyao had flipped through numerous ancient books and found a certain method known as the Great Dragon Subduing Rune.
However, the ingredients required were extremely rare. As such, it had taken Yaoyao a considerable amount of time and effort over the past year to finally procure all of them.
Zhou Yuan’s expression had turned rather blank. The corners of his lips twitched for a few moments before he said in a hoarse voice, “The gift you were referring to is this Great Dragon Subduing Rune?”
Although the Great Dragon Subduing Rune could temporarily resolve one of his biggest problems, the Dragon’s Resentment Poison, why did Zhou Yuan find that he was unable to be happy about it?
The Genesis Rune Brush twirled between Yaoyao’s slender fingers. She seemed to grin as she focused on Zhou Yuan and asked, “Oh? What kind of present did you think it was?”
Zhou Yuan could sense an extremely dangerous aura coming from Yaoyao’s beautiful smile. His survival instinct immediately blared. He smiled in a fawning manner and said, “Nothing, I absolutely can’t wait to receive the Great Dragon Subduing Rune!”
“Strip.” Yaoyao did not waste any time as she gently nodded her sharp chin like a proud queen.
Zhou Yuan swiftly removed his clothes, revealing his lean body.
On the table, Tuntun continued to drink the wine as it pointed at Zhou Yuan with a paw and laughed mockingly.
Zhou Yuan’s face burned with embarrassment as he sent a vicious glare at Tuntun.
Tuntun responded with a disdainful look before patting its round, slightly bloated stomach. Its eyes swept across the area before reaching towards the three jars of Taoyao Wine, evidently intending to have a taste of the alcohol made from the idiot Zhou Yuan’s blood.
Yaoyao coldly said without looking over, “If you don’t want your tongue, go ahead and try to drink it.”
Tuntun’s paw immediately froze, and Tuntun released a wail of complaint.
Yaoyao softly snorted and threw Tuntun the jade gourd hanging from her waist. Her meaning was clear; any other alcohol was drinkable, but no one could touch the three jars of Taoyao Wine.
Paying no further attention to Tuntun, she made a grabbing motion, and a crystal bottle appeared. Viscous black liquid flowed within the bottle, giving off an alarming undulation.
Countless black threads of light seemed to swirl within the black liquid, creating quite a bizarre sight, and numerous faint hisses seemed to echo from it.
Evidently, Yaoyao had already modulated the Dragon Subduing Rune ingredients.
“There will be some pain, try to endure it,” cautioned Yaoyao as the Genesis Rune Brush in her hand dipped into the black liquid. With a light flick, the tip of the brush darted flew across Zhou Yuan’s body.
Sss!
Black strokes meandered over Zhou Yuan’s body, leaving rising black smoke in their wake, and burn marks began to appear on Zhou Yuan’s skin.
Intense pain accompanied the swimming black strokes, causing Zhou Yuan to grimace in pain as he silently endured.
Sss!
Yaoyao’s wrist gently jerked as stroke after stroke took shape. A strange black pattern slowly emerged on Zhou Yuan’s body.
Countless black threads of light extended in all directions like wiggling black chains.
Zhou Yuan could feel a strange power slowly arising.
Bzz!
However, as the Great Dragon Subduing Rune gradually took form, violent blood-red light suddenly surged from the center of Zhou Yuan’s palm. He watched in horror as the Dragon’s Resentment Poison seemed to awaken. Countless blood-red threads rushed out and frantically invaded his body.
ARHHH!
A piercing shriek erupted from Zhou Yuan’s mouth.
The Dragon’s Resentment Poison had begun to counter-attack!
Yaoyao’s pupils shrank a little as she quickly said, “The Dragon’s Resentment Poison has sensed danger. Hold it back Zhou Yuan, it’s trying to destroy the incomplete Dragon Subduing Rune!”
Zhou Yuan immediately gritted his teeth, fighting against the intense bone-eroding pain as Genesis Qi roared out of his Qi Dwelling to stop the Dragon’s Resentment Poison.
Szzszz!
Blood-red and golden light interweaved on Zhou Yuan’s arm as a fierce battle erupted in his flesh.
However, although Zhou Yuan had grown much stronger, the Dragon’s Resentment Poison had also rapidly strengthened after absorbing the majority of the sacred dragon blessing from Wu Huang, and it had merely remained dormant all this time. As such, even Zhou Yuan had not realized its power.
But now, it had erupted upon sensing danger. Its overwhelming power rapidly destroyed Zhou Yuan’s Genesis Qi. Countless blood-red threads whizzed past under his skin, moving towards the incomplete Dragon Subduing Rune as they tore apart the golden Genesis Qi.
“I can’t stop it!” howled Zhou Yuan, his eyes entirely red.
Yaoyao was fully focused as she continued to work on the Dragon Subduing Rune. She cast a quick glance at the countless blood-red threads that were rapidly charging through Zhou Yuan’s Genesis Qi defenses. Her eyes flickered in thought for a moment before she suddenly gritted her teeth.
Spirit power suddenly pricked one of her fingertips, causing strands of mysterious purplish-gold light to stealthily flow downwards along the brush and into Zhou Yuan’s body.
On the table, Tuntun, happily drinking, seemed to sense something, and it suddenly stood up. Its golden eyes looked in Yaoyao’s direction, and Tuntun released several anxious barks.
It seemed to have realized something.
Yaoyao glanced at it and gently shook her head.
Tuntun had no choice but to sit back down, but there was a worried look in its eyes.
“The Dragon’s Resentment Poison has broken through!” Zhou Yuan suddenly shouted, clearly too busy to notice Tuntun’s actions. All his Genesis Qi defenses had crumbled, shattered to pieces by the charging Dragon’s Resentment Poison.
However, purplish-gold light suddenly blossomed in Zhou Yuan’s body just as the Dragon’s Resentment Poison pounced towards the incomplete Dragon Subduing Rune.
Ch!
As the purplish-gold light swept past, the previously unstoppable blood-red threads melted away like snow meeting lava.
In that moment, Zhou Yuan seemed to hear the furious and alarmed roar of a tyrannical dragon.
Yaoyao remained calm as her hand nimbly moved until, finally, she completed the final stroke of the Dragon Subduing Rune, perfectly joining it together.
Bzz!
Black rays of light blossomed on the surface of Zhou Yuan’s body.
Crash!
Countless black threads of light shook as the sound of a chain faintly echoed.
The blood-red threads immediately shrank back as if sensing an enormous danger.
Yaoyao stared at the rapidly retreating Dragon’s Resentment Poison as
her eyes turned extremely frosty. With a gentle thrust of her brush, she fully activated the Dragon Subduing Rune.
“You’ve caused mischief for so many years...it’s about time for you to be subdued.”
In the wake of Yaoyao’s voice, countless black threads of light swarmed towards the Dragon’s Resentment Poison.
The Dragon’s Resentment Poison violently trembled as it seemed to bellow like a trapped beast.
Chapter 680 Burying the Wine
Bzz!
Countless black threads of light swarmed past in Zhou Yuan’s body, arriving at the Dragon’s Resentment Poison’s location in the blink of an eye. Next, the black threads charged towards the Dragon’s Resentment Poison.
Chch!
Innumerable blood-red threads exploded from the Dragon’s Resentment Poison in an attempt to destroy the black threads.
However, the black threads were endless. They continuously charged through the blood-red threads like black chains and dashed into the Dragon’s Resentment Poison’s core.
Hss!
The Dragon’s Resentment Poison trembled violently.
Black thread after thread began to wrap around the Dragon’s Resentment Poison, slowly forming what appeared to be a black prison made from ancient runes, completely sealing the Dragon’s Resentment Poison within it.
Chch!
The Dragon’s Resentment Poison violently struggled, but prison made by the Dragon Subduing Rune was akin to magma to the red threads, causing them to shrink back upon touching it.
The wonders of the Dragon Subduing Rune were finally being revealed.
The Dragon’s Resentment Poison struggled for a long time. In the end, it realized the futility of its efforts and slowly began to curl into itself inside the prison.
When the poison stopped, Zhou Yuan finally felt the activity in his body begin to die down. Drenched in sweat, he looked towards his palm with a sickly pale face where an ancient black rune had appeared.
The rune was composed of multiple black circles, and within the center most circle was a blood-red dot. If one listened closely, one would be able to hear the faint angry roar of a mad dragon.
“Did it work?” mumbled Zhou Yuan.
In the past, Zhou Yuan had always felt as if there was an arrow aimed at his back when he looked at the Dragon’s Resentment Poison. It was a ticking time bomb inside his body that could explode at any moment.
But now, he no longer had such a feeling when he looked at it. The Great Dragon Subduing Rune appeared to have worked.
The Dragon’s Resentment Poison had been sealed away and suppressed.
“Yup, you no longer need to worry about the Dragon’s Resentment Poison erupting and attacking you.” Yaoyao’s voice sounded from behind.
Zhou Yuan was alarmed when he heard her, because it sounded quite weak. He immediately turned around and saw a rarely seen paleness on Yaoyao’s gorgeous face.
Zhou Yuan hurriedly rose to his feet and reached out to support Yaoyao’s thin arms as he somewhat tenderly said, “What happened to you?”
Yaoyao shook her head and said, “I’ll be alright after some rest.”
Zhou Yuan frowned. It felt as if Yaoyao’s core had been damaged. His eyes flickered in thought before he suddenly said, “When the Dragon’s Resentment Poison broke through my defenses earlier, a mysterious purplish-gold substance appeared in my body and stopped the poison. What was that?”
He had tried to probe for it earlier, but the mysterious purplish-gold substance seemed to have vanished without trace, as if it were hiding in the deepest recesses of his body.
The mysterious substance gave Zhou Yuan an indescribable feeling.
Ancient, mysterious, and powerful.
Yaoyao’s eyes flickered for a moment as she replied, “You’re overthinking things.”
Zhou Yuan was helpless at her denial. He knew that Yaoyao had far too many secrets, things that his current self was still unable to understand.
Regardless, eliminating the Dragon’s Resentment Poison problem was a cause for celebration. Since Yaoyao refused to talk about it, he would not press her any further.
Yaoyao sat down beside the table and retrieved a jar of Taoyao Wine. She swept a glance at Zhou Yuan as her lips curled slightly. “We’ll use this to celebrate you no longer having to suffer the pain of any relapses from the Dragon’s Resentment Poison.”
Zhou Yuan grinned. “I’ll accompany you till the end."
When tomorrow arrived, he planned to make use of every waking moment to practice the Mythic Saint Body such as to raise his strength as quickly as possible. But tonight, he would allow himself to let go for a while.
Shhh
Crystal-clear ruby-red wine poured out from the jar, filling a bowl to the brim. By the side, Tuntun’s eyes shined as it carefully pushed its bowl over. Without Yaoyao’s approval, it did not dare to touch the Taoyao Wine.
Yaoayo glanced at it, causing Tuntun to immediately reveal a fawning smile.
In the end, Yaoyao did not object, and helped it fill its bowl.
In the cave, a young man, a young woman and a little beast clinked their bowls together before draining everything in a single gulp.
Yaoyao’s red lips glittered as her eyes gently closed, enjoying the wonderful sensation. A long while later, she finally opened her eyes again as she giggled. “It’s a truly unique flavor.”
The flavor seemed to flow into the deepest part of one’s heart, sour and bitter with a lingering aftertaste.
She knew that there would only be one batch of this flavor in this world, because it would not taste the same in the future.
Even if Zhou Yuan made another batch exactly as he had done before, the flavor would be slightly different. Because the Spirit Blood Peach needed to be nourished by blood, and the future Zhou Yuan’s blood would be filled with even more power as he grew stronger, causing the many variations in the final product.
As such, these three jars of Taoyao Wine would never appear ever again.
Of course, to Yaoyao, it was more about how there was once a guy who had foolishly used his own blood to nourish the ingredients for half a year to make her a batch of wine...
It was these very same idiotic actions that had caused tiny ripples to appear in Yaoyao’s usually calm-as-a-deep-pool-like heart.
As bowls continued to be clinked, the fragrance of wine filled the cave.
Later on, both Yaoyao and Zhou Yuan grew rather flushed as faint traces of drunkenness emerged in their eyes. They had purposely chosen not to expel the alcohol in their bodies using Genesis Qi or Spirit power.
Yaoyao grabbed the jar and tilted it repeatedly but nothing came out.
A jar of Taoyao Wine had unknowingly been finished.
Yaoyao hugged the jar as she pouted, a sight that was adorable to the extreme. Such an appearance would usually never appear.
“Is there any more?” Zhou Yuan chuckled.
Yaoyao shook her head before she suddenly kept a jar into her spatial bag. “I’ll slowly savor this jar.”
She pondered for a moment before grabbing the last jar. She turned around and stumbled towards the little brook in the cave where pink flower petals blossomed on the peach tree, a backdrop that made her appear even more lovely than usual.
Zhou Yuan awkwardly scratched his head and followed, completely clueless about what she was doing.
Yaoyao arrived under the tree and Spirit power poured out from between her brows. A deep hole was dug before she placed the final jar of Taoyao Wine inside.
“What are you doing?” asked Zhou Yuan in a puzzled manner.
Yaoyao stared at the mound of dirt as a slightly dazed look appeared in her eyes. She stumbled as a hand hastily reached out from behind, catching her slim waist.
Yaoyao’s eyes narrowed as she turned around and wrapped her arms around Zhou Yuan’s waist. With a blushing face, she gently rubbed her face against Zhou Yuan’s shoulders as a barely audible dreamy voice sounded, “Let’s hide this jar here
…
“Its taste is very unique, so unique that I will never forget it...
“Zhou Yuan...if a day comes…
“When I forget everything, even you and Tuntun...you’ll have to bring me back here...
“To drink this Taoyao Wine again.”
Chapter 681 Mythic Saint Body Complete
After a night of heavy drinking and cutting loose, Zhou Yuan threw his entire being into practicing the Mythic Saint Body the next day.
Although he had obtained all seven Cangxuan arts, the Mythic Saint Body was obviously going to be the quickest one he could master. As for the others, he currently sorely lacked the time to comprehend and practice them.
After all, the Great Wu Empire was already gathering its army to wage war on the Great Zhou Empire, and Zhou Yuan’s father was likely trying to buy as much time as possible in anticipation of his return.
Hence, Zhou Yuan needed to make full use of every second he had, and did not have any time to waste.
Saint Genesis Peak, the rear mountains.
Zhou Yuan’s half naked body sat on the fire and water dragon tempering platform as he looked towards the old hunched figure on the cliff and said, “Old Xuan, I’ll have to trouble you again.”
Old Xuan leaned on his bamboo broom as he unhurriedly asked, “Do you really want to raise it to the fourth level?”
The water and fire dragon tempering platform had eighteen levels, each level several times more intense than the previous. While Zhou Yuan was practicing the little Mythic Saint Body in the past, merely the first and second levels had already tortured him till he wished he was dead. Despite all this, the little kid wanted to attempt the fourth level.
Zhou Yuan’s eyes were determined as he solemnly nodded his head.
The Mythic Saint Body training was much more difficult, and would not be easy to master even with his little Mythic Saint Body foundations.
In the process, he likewise needed to train very hard.
Although the pain would be great, it should be within bearable limits.
Old Xuan was silent for a moment before his elderly face turned serious. “You’d better prepare yourself. Don’t die on the fire and water dragon tempering platform because your Great Zhou Empire will be finished if you do so.”
