The Great Wu Empire was a top-class empire even in the entire Cangmang Continent. When had King Wu ever lost on his many expeditions?

What’s more, their opponent this time was the weak Great Zhou Empire. Logic pointed to an easy, overwhelming victory. Who could have expected the Great Wu Empire to be defeated so quickly instead?

Moreover, even King Wu had been gravely injured!

As such, the entire Great Wu Empire began to stir restlessly.

Especially those who had been important ministers in the Great Zhou Empire back then. They currently held high positions in the Great Wu Empire, but now grew extremely worried. Many years ago, they had rebelled together with King Wu and seized the Great Zhou Empire’s lands. They had originally believed that there was nothing to fear from the Great Zhou Empire, so who could have anticipated the latter to suddenly appear as if it was about to make a comeback.

If the Great Zhou Empire defeated the Great Wu Empire and took back everything they had lost, these individuals who were once ministers of the Great Zhou Empire would surely be put to trial.

As such, news of the Great Zhou Empire’s counter attack made the entire Great Wu Empire descend into chaos.

If King Wu stepped forward at such a time, he would still be able to suppress the unrest. However, he was missing, not even a hint of his shadow to be found. As a dragon without its head, the morale of the Great Wu Empire began to crumble.

Hence, the Great Zhou army easily steamrolled over the Great Wu Empire’s defenses.

Smoke and the fires of battle burned from the lands of Great Zhou to the territory of the Great Wu Empire.

  ...

The Great Wu Empire’s defeat swiftly spread to the entire Cangmang Continent, shocking the many empires and factions.

They were even more astonished and confused after finding out what had happened on the battlefield. King Wu had actually been defeated by the young prince of the Great Zhou Empire...

King Wu was definitely a top-tier expert in the Cangmang Continent. In fact, he was most likely the strongest after the revelations of his intermediate Divine Dwelling stage cultivation.

Who could have expected that an intermediate Divine Dwelling stage expert would be beaten by Zhou Yuan, who had recently stepped into the Divine Dwelling stage.

For a time, numerous first-class empires began to review their opinion of the once fallen Great Zhou Empire. They understood that once this war was over, the once famous Great Zhou Empire would perhaps rise up once more...

  ...

  Shengzhou Continent, the Cangxuan Sect.

  Clang! Clang!

The sound of a bell loudly echoed in the Cangxuan Sect.

News of Zhou Yuan victory over King Wu spread to the entire sect at this moment, causing

“Senior brother Zhou Yuan is way too amazing!”

“I can’t believe he actually defeated the intermediate Divine Dwelling stage King Wu!”

  “He’s basically invincible!”

“Such battle accomplishments are simply terrifying. Let’s see which Sacred Palace disciple will dare to show off in front our Cangxuan Sect in the future.”

  “......”

All the Cangxuan Sect disciples felt very proud. After all, such battle achievements were indeed very rare.

  On a certain peak.

Chu Qing, Li Qingchan, Kong Sheng, Ye Ge and the others watched the excited disciples before looking at each other, seeing the amazement in everyone’s eyes.

Li Qingchan softly said, “I did not expect that he would be the first to reach the Divine Dwelling stage.”

Ye Ge rubbed his chin as he said, “Beating King Wu at the initial Divine Dwelling stage; I feel Zhou Yuan has established an eight heavens Divine Dwelling at the very least…”

The others did not speak, but their expressions had turned solemn. An eight heavens Divine Dwelling was very very uncommon.

Chu Qing sighed with a worried expression and said, “How troublesome...his cultivation is advancing like crazy, putting us under a tremendous amount of pressure.

“Wasn’t it great in the past, we could leisurely cultivate and enjoy our lives in peace.”

Chu Qing displayed a pained and grieving appearance as he continued, “The culture in our Cangxuan Sect has been spoiled by this brat!”

Li Qingchan cast a sideways glance at him and said, “I heard sect master say that he wants you to immediately seclude yourself for cultivation. If you do not advance to the Divine Dwelling stage and establish an eight heavens Divine Dwelling, he will chase you out and send you to become an instructor in the outer mountains.”

Chu Qing sighed again as he mumbled, “It’s because of that brat Zhou Yuan!”

Li Qingchan responded in an annoyed voice, “I feel that this is much better. We should work hard to progress on the road of cultivation. Instead, what the heck is with your laziness?

“Zhou Yuan entered the sect later than us, but has now reached the Divine Dwelling stage. What face will we have left if we don’t advance too?”

The other Chosen nodded, deeply in agreement.

“Looks like we’ll need to work hard, let’s all begin secluded cultivation today!”

The Chosen exchanged a look before moving, flying towards their respective peaks. In the blink of an eye, only Chu Qing was left on the peak, making him appear rather lonely.

“Hai, you bastard, you’ve ruined the training atmosphere in my Cangxuan Sect!”

Chu Qing let out another depressed sigh. In the end, he could only return to the Cangxuan Peak in a dispirited manner.

  The official discussion hall.

Sect master Qing Yang had a slight smile on his face, while the peak masters wore looks of surprise. They were likewise immediately notified of the outcome between the Great Zhou and Great Wu Empires.

“Zhou Yuan is truly a heaven blessed genius.” The peak masters could not help but sigh upon hearing the news.

“It seems that a dragon has been born in our Cangxuan Sect.” Sect master Qing Yang beamed a little.

“I wonder what kind of expression that old bastard Sheng Yuan is showing now?” Peak master Lianyi icily chuckled. Torrential, unconcealable hatred overflowed from her eyes at the mention of his name.

The war between the Great Zhou and Great Wu Empires was also a small skirmish between the Cangxuan Sect and the Sacred Palace.

And it seemed that their Cangxuan Sect had achieved a complete victory.

News of this would surely be a substantial blow to the Sacred Palace reputation when it spread.

A thoughtful look arose on sect master Qing Yang’s face. “I feel that Sheng Yuan is plotting something else.”

His eyes turned as deep as the night. Sect master Qing Yang had a faint feeling that though Sheng Yuan appeared to be secretly directing the situation, he had not interfered much.

The eyes of the other peak masters widened a little. They were clearly extremely wary of sect master Sheng Yuan.

  “What exactly is he planning?”

Sect master Qing Yang shook his head and slowly said, “I don’t have any ideas for the time being. However, I believe that if he really is planning something, his plot will definitely be revealed soon since the war between Great Wu and Great Zhou is about to be over.

“We will watch him closely at all times during these final moments!”

  ...

  The Sacred Palace.

On the edge of a misty cliff.

Sect master Sheng Yuan fiddled with the murky primal-chaos-like crystal ball before him.

“Wu Huang and King Wu...are truly a family of trash.”

He shook his head. Soon after, he softly chuckled and said, “Never mind, they’re merely pieces on the board. Who cares what they are as long as they’ve fulfilled their roles…”

His eyes stared at the murky crystal ball as he mumbled, “The clash between sacred dragon blessings should soon begin…”

“Patriarch Cang Xuan, when the hands of fate move, your
final obstruction will be broken by me…”

  Chapter 704 Red Clothes

  Swish!

Above a certain county in the now chaotic Great Wu Empire.

The sound of rushing wind rang out as a ray of light flashed past in an extremely anxious manner.

The ray of light was a Spirit. It was surrounded by two halos that continuously absorbed the surrounding Genesis Qi.

This Spirit naturally belonged to King Wu.

He was currently fleeing like mad, fear flooding his face as his gaze constantly darted behind him. He could sense Zhou Yuan chasing him at full speed.

“That damned spawn of the Zhou clan!”

King Wu’s heart was filled with rage. He had swept through the Cangmang Continent like an unstoppable flood for so many years and built an impressive reputation for himself. When had he ever fled in such a pathetic manner?

“I should have killed that babe on the altar back then!”

King Wu had already repeated similar words countless times, making it clear just how much he hated Zhou Yuan at this juncture.

He was naturally aware of the chaos in the Great Wu Empire while he fled, but he did not dare to stop and give any commands. Due to Zhou Yuan’s dogged persistence, he would surely catch up to King Wu the moment he stopped.

Moreover, the other forces in the Great Wu Empire was incapable of stopping the Divine Dwelling stage Zhou Yuan.

Hence, even while knowing that the Great Wu Empire urgently required his presence, King Wu had no choice but to continue running for his life. After all, the Great Wu Empire would also be finished if he was slain by Zhou Yuan.

“It seems that I’ll have to lure him to the capital. I have made some preparations there that may be able to stop him.” King Wu’s eyes flickered in thought. He had a secret treasure in the capital that could recover his physical body. When that happened, he only needed to borrow the homeground advantage to beat back Zhou Yuan.

While such thoughts swirled in his head, King Wu cast away any hesitation. The Divine Dwelling stage halos emitted a radiant glow as his speed abruptly soared, turning him into a streak of light that soon disappeared into the horizon.

About half an incense stick after King Wu vanished, Zhou Yuan’s figure appeared in the sky. His eyes narrowed as he gazed in the direction of King Wu’s Genesis Qi undulations.

“The capital of the Great Wu Empire huh…

“It appears that you’ve yet to give up…

“Well I’m interested to find out how you’ll be able to make a comeback!”

Chilling killing intent flashed in Zhou Yuan’s eyes. This was the best opportunity to kill King Wu. To prevent any future problems, there was absolutely no way he would let King Wu off.

  Swoosh!

Golden Genesis Qi exploded as Zhou Yuan transformed into a streak of gold that rocketed in the direction of the Great Wu capital city.

  ...

After desperately fleeing for several days, King Wu finally reached the capital.

King Wu’s Spirit stood in the sky above the capital. The city had already become a chaotic mess, evidently due to the news of The Great Wu Empire’s defeat.

King Wu’s expression was somewhat sorrowful as he recalled how grand of a sight it had been when he led the army out of this very city. Who could have expected that he would ultimately return alone like a dog that had been chased from its home.

“Cursed spawn of the Zhou clan, I will make you pay!”

King Wu’s voice was filled with resentment. After taking a deep breath, he decided to tarry no further. His Spirit had already grown quite sparse over the past few days, and without any Spirit nourishing items of a physical body, his Spirit would likely disappear from this world.

“I have a treasure called the Treasure Lotus Paste in the royal treasury that can reconstruct one’s body. This is the best time to use it.” King Wu’s Spirit moved, flying straight towards the royal palace as he rushed towards the treasury.

The treasury was a restricted area, and should have been tightly guarded. However, King Wu was puzzled to find that there were no guards to be seen, an observation that infuriated him. Could the guards have rebelled?

Most importantly, the treasury had best be untouched!

In his anxiousness, King Wu swiftly arrived outside the treasury. He breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing that the doors were still intact and in perfectly good condition. The treasury was protected by a secret mechanism that outsiders could not open.

King Wu did not have the time to wonder why the guards had vanished. He used a secret method to open the treasury and immediately dashed in.

The interior sparkled dazzlingly, but King Wu did not even glance at any of the treasures as he rushed directly towards the deepest area. Moments later, his Spirit arrived atop a stone platform, only to be horrified to discover that it was empty. The Treasure Lotus Paste had disappeared!

“God dammit! Where’s my Treasure Lotus Paste?!”

Wu Huang roared in anger as his Spirit rippled violently, his anger clearly reaching its peak.

Someone had stolen the Treasure Lotus Paste. This was clearly intentional!

“But I left a mark on the Treasure Lotus Paste. It won’t be so easy to steal it from me!” However, King Wu gradually regained his cool with a deep breath. He was dying to see who was so daring as to steal from his treasury!

King Wu immediately activated a secret art as his closed his eyes to sense the paste’s location.

A long while later, he suddenly opened them again as a puzzled look flitted across his eyes.

He had found the Treasure Lotus Paste, but he was confused because it was still within the palace, and had not left...

“Humph, no matter who you are, I will not forgive you for stealing from my treasury!” King Wu icily snorted. His Spirit moved, drifting out of the treasury and heading straight for the location of the paste at an astonishing speed.

He flew past in the palace, gradually heading deeper and deeper. In the end, he discovered that the paste was in the cemetery at the very back of the palace!

  King Wu grew increasingly confused.

His Spirit drifted over and gradually came to a stop. The Treasure Lotus Paste was here. He looked to his front where a grand tomb stood.

At the sight of the tomb, King Wu’s Spirit began to violently tremble once more.

  It was the queen’s tomb!

  Splash.

Before a gravestone in the tomb was a figure in red. She held a bottle of alcohol in one hand as she gently sprinkled its contents on the ground, causing a fragrance to fill the air.

After pouring all the alcohol out, she stared at the tombstone as an indifferent voice sounded, “Father, this should be the second time you’ve come here after mother was buried, right?”

She slowly turned around, revealing an extremely beautiful face.

It was a lovely young lady in red with skin as white as snow. Her looks were outstanding, and merely standing there was all it took to make the desolate and lonely tomb become rather dazzling.

However, her eyes were akin to a deep rippleless pool.

She was clearly a girl, but an indescribable aura of reserved domineeringness spread from her body, making King Wu appear dim and dull in comparison, as if she was the true empress of the heavens.

King Wu was stunned for several moments, before he involuntarily cried out, “Wu Yao?!! Why are you here? Aren’t you supposed to be in Hunyuan Heaven?!”

However, wild joy quickly flooded his face.

“Great, you’ve come back at the right time! Quickly go and kill that devil spawn of the Zhou clan so our Great Wu Empire will no longer have any worries in the future!”

However, the girl in red did not move as if she had not heard him. Her rippleless eyes contained an almost emotionless indifference as they stared at the excited King Wu.

King Wu slowly realized that something was wrong. He glared at her and chided, “What the hell are you doing?!”

Wu Yao’s eyes lowered slightly. She reached out and gently caressed the mottled gravestone with a fair hand as a sliver of deep sadness appeared in the depths of her eyes.

Her cold and lonely voice fluttered in the desolate cemetery, “Father...do you still remember how mother died?”

Chapter 705 Wu Yao part A

Many years ago, King Wu rebelled against the Great Zhou Empire and caused its downfall.

The king of Great Zhou, Zhou Qing, suffered defeat after defeat, and was ultimately forced into the desolate and remote northern region. As such, the Great Zhou Empire that had once awed the Cangmang Continent was shattered to pieces. In its place, King Wu established the Great Wu Empire that soon became a top-tier empire in the continent.

King Wu also schemed to seize the sacred dragon blessing from the crown prince of the Great Zhou Empire, and infused it into his twin son and daughter whose births had been delayed to the same day as the Great Zhou crown prince. As a result, the Great Wu Empire gained the protection and blessings of the phoenix and dragon.

The Great Wu Empire flourished over the years like a rising sun over the Cangmang Continent. Numerous empires came to give their blessings because the Great Wu Empire’s position was already solidified.

  ……

The Great Wu Empire Palace, the rear park.

On an empty clearing, several strong looking guards had surrounded a little boy in bright yellow clothes. The young boy stood with his hands behind his back, the arrogance in his eyes seemingly originating from deep within his bones, as if he was a born king.

The surrounding guards carefully watched him. Moments later, they suddenly charged forward with a swish, leaving faint after-images behind as fists and feet viciously struck towards the young boy.

A smile rose from the corners of the young boy’s mouth, a smile that contained a hint of ferocity.

  Rumble!

Instead of taking evasive manoeuvres, the young boy dashed forward, charging straight into the attacks as faint Genesis Qi swirled around his tiny fists. Though small, they were packed full of power.

  Thump! Thump!

The body of a guard would jerk back every time his fist landed, their chests seemingly caving inwards as a mouthful of bloody mist sprayed from their mouths.
