The Palomino Pony Steals the Show
Page 9
Henry Winters had been fired from the yard once Rosefolly’s owners had returned from their holiday in Australia. He was currently the subject of a major investigation that was now being reported in Horse & Hound, and his and Michael Van der Hawk’s scheming was the talk of the shows. Georgia found herself feeling a little sorry for Serena, who had returned home to her family yard without her longed-for squad place. She had been totally awful but Georgia wondered what pressure she had been under to make her behave so badly. She was sure Serena would pop up some time in the future; she was just that sort of girl.
Still, whatever happened, Georgia would always have Lily beside her. Laughing, Georgia reached forward and hugged the loyal golden mare. It still hadn’t sunk in that Lily was hers, not even when the pony passport had been returned to her, stamped with Georgia’s name. Georgia remembered what she had told Jodie back at the training camp. Being with Lily was her dream, and now it had come true. Melanie had been right. The palomino pony had always been hers, right from the very beginning. Always and forever.
