Eyes Of Danger

There was some magical something that was drawing Tim and me together. I had never heard of this, so it had to be my special alarm system matched by his sixth sense. Should the ones who wanted him to fight for them find out about it, would they use it?

  “Tim?” I whispered.

Tim’s voice was a whisper also. “I know. I feel it too. Let’s go.”

We made it to the elevator, but in the elevator, we were all over each other. If they had cameras, I am sure someone had been really entertained. Tim had his hands up under my skirt while I had one leg around his hips. I had my hand slide down the front of his pants. We stumbled out of the elevator on our floor, moving down the hall, unable to let go of each other.

Tim struggled to get the card key out of a pocket with his back against the door. He finally got it open as we fell in, down on the carpet. He kicked the door shut with one foot as he pushed my skirt up around my waist. I was working with the belt buckle, button, and zipper. I had him out while he was still on his knees between my legs. He pulled my hips up off the floor instantly sheathed into me, the full length of his arousal.

I put my arms on the floor behind me so that I welcomed him. I rode the elation I was feeling, the heat wrapping around him transferring as the climax came to both of us. He fell forward onto me, but rolled sideways to protect me. We both lay there, panting, staring at each other. It took a while for us to recover enough strength to get up. We held onto each other for support as we got undressed. We went in and took a shower, slowly soaping each other. We then went to bed, naked, where we relaxed touching each other, just letting the arousal build, not as wild as previously, so that we could take our time. It was time to enjoy all the steps that led to the final combustible moment.

We finally stretched out on the bed, lying next to each other and staring up at the ceiling.

“There is a small problem here.” Tim reached over and placed an arm across my stomach.

I knew what he meant. “It becomes a pain. Heat so intense until you release it, I can’t stand it. It doesn’t happen all the time, but when it does, wow.” It was so hard to describe or to find the right words.

He nodded. “I do think it has something connected with that extra sense we have. Do you feel it if I’m not around you? If I am too far away for you to sense me?”

I could not help but smile as I answered. “No, it has to do with contact.”

He seemed to be thinking this over, then looked at me and grinned.

“The answer is that we just have to have more sex.”

I had to laugh. It seemed to be a typical male thing, but it did have some great appeal. We actually fell asleep with the lights on and on top of the covers with no clothes on, but just hanging on to each other.

Sometime in the middle of the night, Tim woke me up.

  “Hey, time to stay healthy.”

I heard his raspy, sexy voice in my ear as he slipped his hand between my legs. In no time, he had me hot and wet. He was between my legs, moving softly and slowly. He knew what felt good to me, in, then almost all the way out, then back in until I felt the roughness of his hair against my swollen nub that excited me. I pushed against him, raising my hips off the bed. This time when he pulled out, he pushed back in with force. I cried and I enjoyed the feeling.

We both came together, then almost passed out as we lay exhausted. Tim turned the lights out and we went back to sleep. Life was so good. I should have known better. I had spent enough time belaboring the wasted sleep time.

I really should have spent the time thinking about our connection. I wondered if we could use it to keep us safe. I wondered if it could be any type of lifeline. It had to be something else besides just a sex magnet.

  Chapter Twelve

Day Four: Eyes of Dangerous Love

The next morning was slow. For the first time, we both felt like we might have a future together. We lounged in the large bed, played in the family-sized shower, then ate the free breakfast. We made love slow and easy. We also made love hard and fast. We both knew it wasn’t sex—it was love, physical love between two bodies and two minds. We actually made a few plans for the days in Vegas.

Finally, we got everything into the comfortable car. Again, we took turns driving, stopping to fill up for gas. We also bought snacks to eat in the car. We were making good time most of the way across Nebraska, heading towards Colorado. We were now taking state highways instead of the Interstate, so there were a few cities to bypass. Now, there were miles of crops, turning at last into strange dry country with sparse vegetation and funny road signs. Still, it was all beautiful country, viewing the USA the way it should be seen. I couldn’t get enough of it imprinted into my memory. Nor could I get enough of the profile of the man I was with.

Northern Colorado was mountainous, but as we turned south, it became part of the great southern desert. Not really a desert nor really flat, but obviously it felt the lack of constant rain. The deep valleys in this area of the state were rolling small hills covered by dry-looking stunted trees. It had a strange beauty constantly revealed as the road rose over a hill and then returned down. You couldn’t see very far ahead, but I did enjoy the frequent rabbits running along the side.

In a pleasant farm town, Tim pulled over in front of a local restaurant. We got out and stretched. We walked hand in hand down the sidewalk, going in to sit at a booth towards the back. Of course, Tim faced the door, never forgetting his training.

We had the special of the day from a friendly, motherly waitress who also said the strawberry pie was fresh even though the strawberries were not local. We ended up with dessert and decided that we needed to walk off some of the calories. The town was big enough to have a couple of strip malls on the edge, but just down from the restaurant was a drug store beside a general store that looked more interesting than the big chain stores, so we walked along.

There was a lot of traffic on the road as the state highway ran right through town, but the locals pulled up to go into the drugstore. We went into the general store, separating, just to wander. The store was large and clean, with a smell of spices. It had as much to choose from as any Target or Walmart, and that surprised me. I really didn’t need anything, but it was fun to wander the aisles. I could catch a glimpse of Tim’s head now and then. I found myself in the hair department deciding some clips to hold my hair back for my new style would be nice. I picked up a couple and headed slowly towards the front checkout counters.

I looked around for Tim, but couldn’t see his tall profile anywhere. He must be somewhere behind some of the high displays. I knew he was close because of a nice soft warm feeling. I went ahead to pay for my clips. As I got near the door, I saw him also pay for something as he came on out with a small bag.

We got in the car with Tim driving. I pulled my hair up with one of the new clips. I looked in the mirror on the back of the visor, smiling over at Tim.

“What do you think?” I pulled my hands down to let him see my hair.

“I like it. Look in the bag I got.” He nodded at the small brown paper bag.

I picked it up from the armrest between us. Inside was a small inexpensive jewelry box. In this was a set of small earrings. They were tiny jade hearts outlined in gold. I looked at him knowing I had tears in my eyes.

“When we get to Vegas I will buy you diamond hearts, but for now, these represent my heart.”

I could not even talk but just looked at the precious little hearts. I cleared my throat knowing that no diamonds would ever replace these. I took out my small studs from my ears and replaced them with the hearts. At last, when I had my emotions under control, I reached over to put my hand on his neck.

“I think you’d better find a place to pull over because I have a real pain in my lower stomach.” I smiled at him. I really didn’t, of course. I just wanted to have him inside me after putting on the earrings.

He glanced at me, then swung the big car off the road onto the very next side s
treet and on that thoroughfare, he pulled onto the side. By the time he had the car stopped, I had the center arm rest pushed up so that I was facing him with one leg up on the seat. I was pulling my full skirt up and out of the way, smiling at the man I loved.

“Oh, God, Michelle, I love you so much.”

It was almost a whisper as he pushed the seat back, raised the steering wheel, then slid over to me, between my legs. My skirt went up with his body as he pulled me down on the seat. He took only a second to let me flow into those beautiful dark eyes. He was kissing me in the way that I wanted my kisses.

I felt his hand as he undid his pants. Quickly, he was where he needed to be, inside me. It was a good thing the big car had good shocks, because we both put a lot of effort into blending our bodies, as if we could join together and never be parted. I know he worked hard to make it last, and it was good for me as I had climax after climax. The final real one that was with him took us both out into the universe together.

It took us several minutes to realize that the car was heating up inside. We needed to get outside to clean up, then get on the road. He reached over my head opening the passenger door. The hot air from outside was cooler than the inside of the car.

We both started laughing as we tumbled out into the grass on the side of the road trying to make ourselves presentable.

Finally, we were able to get up and as he started around the car, I stopped him. I put my arms around him to look up into his beautiful eyes.

“I don’t want diamonds. I don’t want these hearts replaced. One is for my heart and one is for yours. They are the most important gift anyone has ever given me.”

Tim held me. Not kissing me or not pressing me to him, but just holding me and looking at the trees behind me.

At last, he let go and said, “We are going to give you some driving lessons.”

I looked at him in confusion. I had been driving for years. I was proud that I had never received a ticket. I had never been in an accident. Of course, I felt some of the lack of accidents was because of my personal alarm system.

We got back in the car with Tim driving for another hour. We saw a sign for a town south of us. He turned and drove until we got to the edge of the small municipality. We followed some signs to the small high school.

The school was closed with the parking lot empty. He had me get in the driver’s seat as he set up some strange barricades. Using the plastic bags we had in the car, he put some at different spots.

He got in and instructed me to back up to the edge of the lot. He told me to head towards the first bag. He wanted me to get the car up to fifty mph in the short space. When I got to the bag, I was to turn around it without slowing down and head back, then stop at the edge.

I thought he was nuts, but I tried. I chickened out the first two times. I didn’t get the speed he wanted, but on the third time, I did get a tight turn. I was able to speed up, then rode the brake to stop.

He had me repeat this repeatedly until I could turn the large car on a dime at fifty mph without losing speed. I could make the stop at the edge of the lot. The large heavy car hung on the tarmac. I began to have faith in it to do what I asked it to do in the turns.

“Okay, good. See the other bags…just go in and out a couple of times.”

They were staggered and I made a slow easy drive through the course.

  “Now, do it at fifty.”

I looked at him like he was nuts, but I backed up, stepped on the gas, brought the car up to fifty and made the first couple. Of course, I missed the rest.

  “Again.”

It took me a half hour to make the entire run. Even with the AC, my hands were sweating on the wheel. I felt a rush when I made it all the way through, but I looked over at Tim and didn’t see any approval.

“Do it again,” he said in his commanding voice

  “Tim, I am getting tired.”

Those piercing dark eyes just glared at me. “You think the bad guys are going to call a break? Do it again.”

I glared back at him, then jammed the car in reverse. I pushed the gas pedal to the floor. I made it all the way through, but the tires squealed from the breaks as we stopped.

“Go through again. Turn around the last one and drive straight back fast.”

He didn’t look at me, just gave the instructions.

I was furious. I took the course, but didn’t complete the turn. Without any instructions, I backed up and rushed it again. This time I made the turn and came to a stop at the edge of the lot. I pulled my hands from the wheel and looked at my red palms, realizing that I was beginning to form blisters.

Tim got out of the car. He came around and opened my door. He pulled my hands out, one at a time, and poured cold water from a bottle on each and then kissed each palm.

“We will get you thin driving gloves in this town. From now on, you will wear them when you drive. That way you will be prepared for any emergency.”

He pulled me upright, bending his head to kiss me in a way that started out tender, but grew with passion to take control of my lips and all of me. Finally, he set me back down, looked at me, and touched one of the heart earrings.

  “We should move on.”

I went around and helped him gather the bags. He drove until we found a large chain store. He was very choosy about the right gloves for me. They were good leather, very thin, and fit snug, but not too tight.

We got back on one of the state routes that went west with Tim driving quietly for a couple of hours. I relaxed down in the comfortable seat of the big car. The noise level was none as Detroit did a good job of sealing the passengers inside. All the hustle and bustle was left on the outside.

I played with the radio and finally got a station that had good old Eighties music, then I just sat back. But we soon got interference. I figured we were driving out of the radio station’s range so I started playing around looking for another when we got a squeal out of the back speakers. Tim pushed my hand away as he turned the radio off.

I looked over at him, but he had on sunglasses. I could only see the frown lines on his forehead.

  “Check your seat belt.”

His voice was low and commanding. I sat up straight, pulling the belt tighter. I began to look around.

There were a few cars, going both ways on the four-lane highway. I couldn’t see anything suspicious. How could anyone find us now? Then, I saw Tim lean forward looking up through the windshield.

I heard it before I saw it. Since I knew the car had great sound protection, I knew the helicopter had to be low and close. I finally saw it as it passed over us, flying only a few feet above the cars. It was black with the windows tinted dark. The only identity was a small row of numbers on the back before the tail blades.

  “Is it Government?”

Tim nodded yes as he pulled the car into the right lane among a line of vehicles.

“Have they spotted us?” I was out of my element and frightened. I knew I was probably bothering Tim, but I couldn’t help, but ask questions.

“Not yet, but they know we are somewhere close. They just haven’t figured out which car.”

Tim pulled the car out as another car ahead of us also pulled out. Both of us were in the left lane. Traffic was picking up. Then, Tim pulled in behind a large farm truck. Its back gate was open, but there was a tied down canvas covering the top of the truck.

I could see boxes scattered under the tarp that might have been full of produce that the farmer was taking to market or somewhere.

The ‘copter came back low, cruising above the highway.

“Duck down, don’t let them see you. They will be looking for a man and woman traveling together.”

Tim was pushing me as he was giving me the orders. I hit the release on the seat belt, slid down into the foot well in front of the seat, and curled up as much as possible.

I got back up as I heard the noise pass behind us.

  Tim looked ove
r at me.

“Michelle, listen to me carefully. They will be putting roadblocks up somewhere ahead. If we hit a stoplight, I want you to get out, not where the ‘copter can see you, and get in the back of that truck. Hide in it until the driver stops.”

I started to protest, but he gripped my arm tightly.

“Michelle, our best chance of getting away is to split up. Now, reach in back to my gun bag and get some cash, as much as you can hide on you, different places. Believe me when I say that both of our lives depend on you doing exactly what I tell you. Take your little backpack.”

I could feel the tears start spilling out. I didn’t stop to wipe them as I did what Tim instructed. I stuffed cash into my backpack, into my pockets, into my bra and into my shoes. I didn’t look at the denominations, I wasn’t sure I could see through the tears.

“Michelle, listen to me, again.” His voice was low and harsh. “If they pick you up, and they probably will, because you don’t have my training, cooperate. Tell them the truth. Tell them everything. But don’t tell them about your alarm system and about the attractions we have. If they think you have any special talent, they will keep you. If they just think you are infatuated with me, they will eventually let you go.”

By now, I was starting to get a grip on my emotions. “What about the safe house? Won’t it be spoiled if I tell about you taking me there?”

Tim shook his head. “It has been closed by this time. I am sure they had a warning. Someone planted the bug in this car. We were lucky to find it when you turned on the radio.”

“How will we get back together? Tim, I can’t live without you.” I felt the tears start, but I fought to control my body as I looked at him.

“Go home and I will find you when I can.” He didn’t look at me as he searched the highway ahead. Finally, the traffic was building up around us.

  “There is one more thing.”

He looked at me intently, with those eyes hidden behind the sunglasses.
