Love Hurts: The Killing of Rose
Page 20
She brushed her hair away from her eyes. “Come on Sam, it’s always nice to say what’s on your mind.” She smiled teasingly. “It’s okay if you think I’m beautiful. Everyone does.”
“It’s something you’re used to,” Sam said.
“And the same goes for you and your brother. I know you understand me. It’s obvious you suffer the same affliction.” She smirked, studying his good looks. She wanted to know only one thing about Sam. How amazing of a kisser he was. She tugged him by the shirt, pressing her lips into his. She pulled away quickly, looking into his eyes. She kissed him again, pulling away, her mind made up. She wanted him.
Elcina moved her lips inches from Sam’s letting him come to her for the next kiss. His eyes mesmerized by her. She smiled, accepting his lips against hers.
Frankie shoved the bathroom door open in a hurry to get some privacy so he could call Sam. He shoved past the man at the urinal, slamming the bathroom stall shut. Sam’s phone rang and rang and rang.
“Come on. I’m trying to save your ass right now… pick up.” Frankie grumbled. He hung up the phone, punching the door open, startling the man urinating, “My apologies.”
Frankie pulled off the hat. “This can’t be happening right now.” He hurried from the bathroom bumping into Eden as he tried to take off out of the bar.
“You look like you just seen a ghost.” She tugged on the strings of his hoodie, running her hand through his hair playfully. “I like this Frankie. You have great hair.”
“Where do you think they went?” he asked, ignoring her compliment.
“Well, I don’t know. Elcina doesn’t normally leave with guys. Do you need a ride home?”
Frankie sighed. “I think we need to find them first.”
Eden looked at Frankie confused. One minute he was flirting with her, the next he was spastic and agitated. “He looked happy to be with her.”
Frankie groaned, pushing past Eden. She didn’t get it and that was fine. But he did. He knew if he stood around and did nothing Elcina was going to sink her claws into Sam. And Sam wouldn’t know what hit him, all because of their father.
Frankie whistled loudly, bringing a yellow taxi to a halt. He jumped in, slapping the interior.
“I have no clue where I am going. But you’ll be paid double if you drive me everywhere I tell you to go twenty over the speed limit.” He told the cabbie.
The man nodded graciously, taking off with the best passenger his cab had ever seen.
Elcina ran a hand through her hair. She trailed a finger along Sam’s leg. “I like you Sam.”
Sam smiled deeply enamored by Elcina. He didn’t know it was possible to feel this way about someone he barely knew.
“I like you a lot, Sam.” She kissed his neck, whispering in his ear. “Sam, you don’t have any girlfriends do you?”
Sam studied her expression. “I’m here with you. That should answer your question.” He stroked her hair.
“Good, because I want you all to myself, and if you’re lying to me you will be very sorry.” She smiled. “If you’re lying to me I will be very upset. Because what I want I get. And I can make you do things you never thought you were capable of, Sam.” She trailed a nail along his neck, watching his flesh give at the subtle pressure. She was deadlier then Sam would ever know.
“I’m not so sure. I’ve done a lot of things in my life.” Sam stayed cool, calm and collected.
“Well, there’s a first time for everything.” She kissed him again. “When you go home tonight I want you to get rid of all the useless girls in your life, all of them. If they even think they want to sleep with you I want you to kill them.”
Sam stared into Elcina’s eyes confused by her suggestion, but something in his mind told him she made sense. That he should do whatever it was she wanted him to so he could devote himself to her.
Elcina looked over Sam’s shoulder at the taxi approaching. As she expected Frankie jumped out, doing his best to hold it together as he approached them. She knew Eden had a big mouth, so it was very possible Frankie knew all about her.
“Time to head home,” Frankie said.
Sam agreed. Frankie offered the cab to Elcina shoving his brother away from this deadly cupid freak and all her evil twisted ways. Elcina gave a dainty wave and climbed in the taxi.
“We have to get out of here.” Frankie hopped in the passenger seat completely disturbed. He gave Sam a quick inspection. He still seemed the same.
Sam buckled his seat belt giving Frankie a dirty look. He was acting really strange.
“That was easier than I expected,” Sam told Frankie.
“Oh yeah?” Frankie asked, eyeing him cautiously. “Why do you think that?”
“I got her eating out of my hand,” Sam chuckled, gunning it out of the dark vacant roadside into the night.

Elcina grumbled, digging her phone from her purse. “What?”
Eden was on the receiving end of her rage. “Where are you?”
“At home, about to take these hellish heels off and get in bed, why?” She unlocked her door. “Were you about to apologize for gossiping about me, Eden?”
“I didn’t say anything, Elcina,” Eden said. But Elcina could see through her lies every time.
“You do know I could make you miserable. But yet you continue to talk about me behind my back.” She tossed her shoes across the floor of her condo. The one her daddy bought her. “It was written all over his brother’s face. He knew about me.”
There was a long silence. Elcina stopped in front of the large antique mirror hanging in her hallway. She smoothed her hair, waiting for Eden to say something.
“I’m sorry.”
Elcina studied her nails, imagining how great it would feel to claw her eyes out. “Sam is the perfect boy toy. And you’re going to keep quiet while I have a little fun.” She spun around, her skirt fluttering in the breeze. “You used to be fun, Eden.”
Back before Elcina had toyed with Eden’s one true love, she had fun turning the once mesmerized Isaac into her play thing. Isaac loved Eden until Elcina had her way. It was the first time she knew what she was capable of. A simple kiss was all it took to hook any man. She could have anyone she wanted.
“Isaac loved everything about me. He was a lot of fun, boy was he.” Elcina grinned deviously, knowing she was really getting under Eden’s skin.
Eden tried her best to bite her tongue. “Sam’s fathers a demon. You’re messing with the wrong guy.” She hung up.
The phone dropped from Elcina’s hand, swirling across the hardwood.

Delaney jumped from the bed at the sound of Sam’s animated voice. She had waited all day to see him.
“Hey,” Sam said, shutting the door behind him.
“Hey, love. I missed you,” Delaney said with a smile.
Sam turned away, his fingers crawling across the door, twisting the lock. He turned to face her, motioning her over. “Did you now?”
Delaney searched his eyes. “Are you ok?” She gave a small smile. Something wasn’t normal. His eyes didn’t hold the same qualities they used to. Something was off.
“Of course I’m ok.” Sam pulled her close, his hands trailing up her arms, grazing her shoulders and coming to a stop around her neck.
Delaney screamed.
