‘I don’t care about this city anymore,’ Victor said. ‘Destroy it with fire!’

Antonio lifted his hands toward the air and started chanting.

‘Death to the Jesus followers!’ Victor spat as he sloshed ever closer to the walls.

CEASE! The towering man thundered and both Victor and Antonio fell down into the blood. They tried to stand up, but they couldn’t. They only managed to keep their heads barely above the blood. The descending man spoke with a voice of great authority that was more fearful than the gale force winds of a hurricane.

Victor and Antonio both screamed as His voice ripped at their clothes and tore at their skin. Finally, only their bleached bones remained where they were standing, and with one last powerful blast of His breath, their bones disintegrated into nothingness. Where the most prominent men on Earth stood only a few seconds ago, there now was nothing.

‘It’s Jesus!’ one of the survivors shouted and ran toward the descending man. ‘It’s really Him!’

Jesus descended slowly and firmly planted both his feet on top of the Mount of Olives. The ground shook lightly, and the mountain cracked, then split into two parts, and all the graves were opened up. Many who were buried now stood before the Lord as those from within the city ran to meet their Messiah. Those who perished in the Earthquake and the battle were also brought to life and eagerly joined the gathering crowd.

It’s Him, Trevor thought as he limped toward the large figure in the distance. He couldn’t stop looking at Him, and each step closer caused Trevor’s body to strengthen and rejuvenate.

‘It sure is,’ a familiar voice said next to him and Trevor stopped to see who it was. Norman smiled at his brother. He was dressed in a spotless white robe which radiated pure light.

‘Norm!’ Trevor exclaimed and embraced his brother. Trevor couldn’t contain his emotions anymore. Tears flooded his face and he held onto Norman. ‘I have missed you so much.’

‘I missed you, too,’ Norman said.

‘As have I,’ Trevor heard another voice say.

  Trevor looked up. ‘Andy?’

‘In the flesh,’ Andrew said and smiled. ‘Or should I say: in the resurrection body flesh.’

The three of them embraced and tears turned to laughter.

‘I’m so glad to see you,’ Trevor said. ‘I’m also so sorry that I let you down, Andy.’

‘You didn’t,’ Andrew said with a smile that radiated love and forgiveness. ‘We are all very proud of you.’

‘Where’s mom and dad?’ Trevor asked.

‘Oh,’ Norman said and smiled. ‘You will see them soon enough. But not yet. Those who died before the Rapture will join us after the thousand years of peace.’

‘It’s over,’ Trevor said and looked at Jesus in the distance. ‘It’s finally over...’

‘It’s not over,’ Andrew said. ‘In fact, it’s only just the beginning.’

‘Come,’ Norman said and tugged at Trevor’s arm. ‘There’s someone who died to meet you.’

‘Well done my good and faithful servants,’ Jesus said when the millions of people of all genders, ages, and races had gathered at His feet. His voice had changed from a thunderous roar to the rippling water of a gentle stream and the angry fire in His eyes had been replaced by burning love and compassion.

‘You have remained faithful to the very end, and for that you will share in My inheritance.’

The skies cleared as He spoke, and the sound of birds chirping softly filled the air. He extended His arms, displaying His pierced hands. Light shone from Him, covering all those standing at His feet with His compassion and love. As He spoke, the desert behind Him sprang to life as trees, grass, and sparkling rivers announced the birth of a new and eternal reign, governed by the true Prince of Peace.
