  “Really?”

  He smiled. “Really.”

“So I’m pretty damned special, then?”

He laughed. “You’re pretty damned special.”

Looking into his eyes, Rayne knew that she was. At least to him. But that was all she really wanted. To be special to him. To make a life with him. Raise a family with him. Keep Calhoun Corners safe and quiet for their kids, their nieces and nephews, their parents, their friends.

“I guess we oughta go see my dad now.”

“Yeah. Then I was thinking we’d give him your house.”

Her eyebrows rose. “But he just gave it to me.”

“I know, but I’ve been looking at one of the farms that’s for sale on the outskirts of town.”

  “Oh, really?”

“My parents want to give us the down payment as a wedding gift and will lend us the rest—if you want.”

  “To live on a farm?”

“And earn a little extra money breeding horses.”

She snuggled up against him. After having just saved a business, having somebody else find a home and another income was a genuine relief. “Sounds like a plan.”

“Good, because it’s a done deal. The farm is ours.”

  She gaped at him. “Really?”

“Yep, and the house is empty…except for a stove and a bed.” He bumped his forehead to hers. “Wanna sleep with me tonight?”

  She swallowed. “Yes.”

  “Good.”
