[No Justice 01.0] No Justice

by Sean Platt

Is it what you think it is?

Maybe. Or maybe it’s something else.

I love the mystery of not knowing fully what the hell is going on. And I fully intend to embrace that sense of mystery over the course of the series.

Speaking of mystery, the psychic angle in No Justice was something we wanted to get just right.

We didn’t want to write a paranormal book about a psychic vigilante, but rather a straight-up thriller where the vigilante happens to be psychic. I think there is a distinction. While we love writing supernatural stuff in a lot of our books, I wanted this one to be more grounded in reality — something that you could actually see happening.

  WHAT’S NEXT?

We wrote No Justice as standalone series books. In the spirit of Dennis Lehane’s series books, or others in the thriller genre. There are no serialized cliffhangers like in Yesterday’s Gone or WhiteSpace.

When you read a No Justice book, it will be a complete story in itself. Whatever the murder case is, it WILL BE resolved by the end of the book, one way or another. However, there are going to be teasers in the epilogues that will make you want to know what’s going to happen next and be eager for the next book in the series to come out.

There will also be mini-stories that play out over the series, like in any other book or TV series. Not major stories, but little things that will make the world of Creek County, and the lives of its denizens, feel all the more authentic.

  WOULD YOU KINDLY?

I hope you love No Justice as much as Sean and I enjoyed writing it.

We LOVE where the series is going. Wait until you read the second book and find out what happened to Jordyn. Also, Mal is about to come up against a killer unlike any she’s seen before. Just wait until you read the opening chapter.

I think I like the second book even more than the first.

Anyway, here’s where you come in.

Sean and I aren’t just horror or sci-fi writers. Like our idols growing up, Stephen King and Dean Koontz, we tend to write across genres. We just want to tell a thrilling tale.

To that end, it’s damned difficult to get established in the straight-up thriller genre. We want this series to do well so we can keep returning to Creek County, and only you can help ensure that.

If you liked No Justice, then would you kindly* consider taking a few minutes to leave a review wherever you bought the book or at Goodreads? If you’re a book blogger, we’d love any mentions on your blog or YouTube channel, also. Every bit of word-of-mouth helps to introduce us to new readers.

As always, thank you for reading,

  David Wright (and Sean Platt)

What Would You Do With the Last 12 Hours of Your Life?

At 6 p.m. on a Wednesday in October, a gunman will enter Goldman’s Diner and commit one of the worst massacres the small coastal town of Palm Isles, Florida has ever seen.

Twelve hours earlier: twelve lives are on borrowed time, unaware that death is coming, or that their paths will collide in one tragic moment.

A cop is forced to decide between his job and his marriage.

A bullied teen with an abusive father is down to one friend when his world suddenly crumbles around him.

An old man struggles to hold onto his memories and do one last thing to honor his wife. But in doing so, he will have to reveal his darkest secret.

A cook with a shady past attempts to stay on the straight and narrow, until he gets a call which forces him to choose — his family or his honor?

A woman attempts to meet her father’s expectations, clinging to a struggling diner even as her relationship with her son falls apart.
