When Terry Chostner was given the task of making a photographic inventory of all the surviving models of the Star Wars trilogy, he realized that it was a rare opportunity. With Kerry Nordquist and Roberto McGrath, he organized the models into a rough circle and recruited many ILMers to come get their photo taken, including Steve Gawley, Lorne Peterson, and Rose Duignan. Chostner found Lucas shooting on the stage and invited him over, too. Images from the Lucas shoot would later be expanded optically, becoming one of the iconic moments from ILM’s history

  Charlie Bailey.

  Lorne Peterson.

George Lucas in the final composite photo, which added a Death Star and a starfield.
