Undercover Eagle

“What now?” Liam asked, when he stood in front of her dressed only in his shorts.

“What do you want to happen now?” Beverly asked, coming closer to him, but keeping out of his reach.

Liam was lost for words. They were supposed to be making decoy eggs, but she was certain he was not going to be able to function with Beverly dressed in so little. She should feel guilty, but a little diversion wouldn’t put the eagles in too much danger. “What do I want?”

“Yes.” She ran her fingers over the swell of her breasts, encased in a lacy bra, which really needed to be on the floor with the rest of her clothes. Along with his shorts. “I was thinking we might need to ease the sexual tension between us.”

“That,” he said, pointing at her. “That is a good idea.”

Beverly reached behind her back and unclasped her bra, relieved she’d dressed in sexy lingerie this morning. As she slipped it off, she watched Liam’s face, his hunger to touch her, explore her body, evident on his face. Her arousal increased exponentially. What woman wouldn’t be turned on by the blatant desire of a good-looking man, who stood within arm’s reach?

“Damn, Beverly.” He stepped closer, his hand outstretched and he cupped her left breast with his large right hand, and massaged it. She closed her eyes, her lips parting as she gasped in pleasure when his thumb brushed over her nipple. He came closer, cupping her right breast, and pushing them together, before he lowered his head and sucked on each nipple in turn.

Beverly slid her hand down his chest, following the sparse trail of hair that led to his rock-solid cock. She giggled, nerves getting the better of her. It was like following a treasure map, and now she was going to open the chest. Pushing down his shorts, she curled her fingers around his cock, and stroked him. Up and down, the palm of her hand covering the head of his cock.

Liam flexed his hips as her hand slid up and down his hardened shaft. He was big, and her sex ached at the thought of having him buried deep inside her. It was an ache that would persist until he chased it away.

Beverly kissed his cheek, while he rolled his tongue around her nipple. Fighting the need to stop and allow each new sensation to sweep over her, she worked her way along his jawline, nipping the sensitive skin on his neck, and then caressing his flesh with her warm breath. He shivered, sucking harder on her right nipple, causing the breath to hiss between her teeth.

The tension between them grew, and she nipped his earlobe, before sucking it into her mouth, her teeth grazing the soft flesh. Her nipple slipped out of Liam’s mouth and he turned his hungry eyes on her, as he bit his bottom lip. She pushed him to the brink, and now he wanted to take them both over the edge.

Lifting her off her feet, he carried her to the sofa, where he set her down, his hand hooking around the elastic of her panties and dragging them down over her thighs. She delicately lifted one foot out of them in turn. Liam threw them to the floor, and knelt beside the sofa, kissing her soft belly, while his hand slipped over her mound and rubbed her clit.

His touch was light, teasing her, when she wanted him to be hard and rough. Beverly covered his hand with hers and urged him on, but he was going to take his sweet time and make her wait. She closed her eyes and gave in to him, allowing him to do with her as he wanted. She was his, after all.

Liam lifted her right leg and hooked it over the back of the sofa, and then eased her left leg wider, until her foot touched the floor. She was completely exposed to him. Opening her eyes, she watched as he kissed her belly, and then moved lower, his lips pressing against her pubic bone, while his fingers slid inside her wet, aching sex. Slick noises filled her ears as he probed her. In and out, deeper, harder, two fingers, then three, stretching her inner walls, while the tip of his tongue flicked over her clit.

She jammed her fingers into his hair and angled her hips toward him. A whimpering filled the room and it took a moment for her to realize it was her own voice. Soft, high-pitched, filled with a need to come, to reach her orgasm and release the incredible tension building inside her.

Liam covered her clit with his mouth and sucked, his teeth grazing the sensitive nub. Beverly pushed her breasts together, her thumbs brushing against her nipples, as she finally came. Her hips bucked off the sofa, her body writhing beneath the onslaught of sensations that coursed through her.

She came, her body trembling as her inner muscles gripped his fingers. Liam stroked her inner walls, like the fluttering of tiny butterflies that increased her orgasm. He was a master, and she was his slave at that moment. But when her orgasm finally slipped away, and she lay naked on the squishy sofa, the look of need in his expression told her Liam was as much a slave to their passion as she was.

Liam kissed her thighs, easing her right leg down so she lay on the sofa. Then he swung her around, so she sat on the sofa. He got up off the floor and sat beside her. She frowned, was that it, were they simply going to sit here?

No. His cock stood erect in his lap, and that was exactly where he wanted her. Beverly stood up on shaky legs and then turned to face him, her breasts bouncing as she straddled him. Liam held his cock steady, and she lowered her body, looking down to watch the tip of his cock as it brushed her outer lips, the pressure against her sex agonizingly tempting. But she wanted to tease him, she wanted to play hard to get.

Wriggling her hips, she brushed the top of his cock with her moist sex, not allowing him to penetrate her. Not yet. She swayed a rhythmical dance, her loose hair cascading forward to cover them both and hide their faces.

Liam plunged his hand into her hair, and held her head steady, claiming her mouth with his. He kissed her, his tongue slipping into her mouth, plundering her in a rhythm that mimicked that of his fingers when they were deep inside her.

She lowered herself down onto him, wanting to feel that same rhythm and to experience another bone-shattering orgasm. A tremble passed through her body as he pierced her with his cock. The friction of their bodies, skin against skin, set her nerve endings on fire; he stretched her inner muscles, and she groaned into his mouth as he filled her completely. He was too big, the intensity too much, but she wanted to experience it all, every last brush of his lips, touch of his fingers.

Lower, inch by inch, she took him inside her until he completely impaled her. Beverly’s inner walls ached, he was so deep inside her. She’d had sexual partners before, but Liam was more mature. Not just in age, but in the size of his body. All of his body. He might have a baby face, but he was all man.

Sensing her unease, he cradled her in his arms, stroking her back while her body adjusted to the invasion. “Take your time.” He kissed her collarbone, and then flicked his tongue over her nipples, exciting her, she rocked in his lap, gingerly at first. Liam stroked her skin, bringing his hand down between their bodies, and pressed a thumb against her clit. Each time she moved, she was rewarded with the sensation of his touch on her most sensitive nerves.

Her confidence grew, and she circled her hips before lifting herself up. His cock slid out of her, but before he left her completely she lowered herself back down. It was Liam’s turn to groan, and he slid one hand down onto her hip while the other rubbed her clit. He guided her, lifting his hips off the sofa to push deeper inside her, if that was possible.

Excitement grew between them, as if each wanted to push the other toward greater pleasure. She’d dreamed of a man, chased many men. But she celebrated each letdown, each time she was turned away, because this was the man she was supposed to be with. This was the man she would make love to for the rest of her life.

She came, with that thought in her head. Her man, her shifter. How crazy was that?

“Fuck, Beverly,” Liam groaned out as he came. “You are the most incredible woman I’ve ever met.”

She tensed her inner muscles, gripping him hard, and his hips bucked. “I bet you say that to all your women.”

He placed both hands on her hips and ground into her, his cock spurting his hot essence inside her. “Only you. There will o
nly ever be you.”

She kissed him, breathing in his words, and believing them as she rode him to the end of his orgasm. He might be all man, but tonight, she was all woman too.

  Chapter Fourteen – Liam

“That’s right, we make the mold of the egg very carefully.” Liam didn’t want to break the delicate shells of the golden eagle eggs. But they needed to make replicas that would fool egg hunters. They wouldn’t pass close examination, but would be good enough.

“Wait, we have some goose eggs about this size in the store,” Beverly told him. “Can we paint them?”

“We could. It would sure be a lot easier than making them. And quicker. But what about the transponder?” Liam asked.

“I’ll go get the eggs, and we’ll work from there.” She looked at her watch. “The store is still open, I’ll be back as quick as I can.” Beverly headed for the stairs, and Liam followed.

“While you get the eggs, I’ll get some food.”

“I would love pizza.” Beverly ran down the stairs, pausing at the bottom to kiss him.

Liam pulled her close and kissed her neck, breathing in her scent. “You are a resourceful woman, Beverly.”

“I am.” She placed her hands on either side of his face and kissed his lips softly. “I keep thinking this is all a dream and I’m going to wake up.”

“It’s all real.” He took her hand and they left the store together by the back door. “Meet you back here.” He leaned over and took the spare key off the hook. “Let yourself in.”

“Thanks.” She kissed him and let go of his hand. Liam watched as she ran off into the night, wanting to follow her, and never let her out of his sight. But a man had to provide for his mate, and so he went to get pizza.

Half an hour later, they were sitting on the sofa, with a pizza on the coffee table and a carton of eggs next to it. Beverly had also retrieved a chocolate Easter egg mold from the storeroom at her dad’s store.

“Do you think we can use it?” she asked, taking a mouthful of pizza.

“Sure, we can use the stuff I bought for the original egg molds. It won’t exactly match these.” He pointed to the goose eggs. “But it will be close enough.”

“And much easier than trying to cast a mold around these.” Beverly held up one of the eagle eggs. “Where did you get them from?”

“I was flying up in the mountains one day when I came across them in an abandoned nest.” He held out his hand and she passed the egg to him. “They were infertile, and the parents finally realized they weren’t going to hatch and had flown off. It made me sad somehow.”

“What’s it like? You know, flying.” Beverly spread her arms out to mimic flight.

“The most amazing thing in the world. Aside from making love to you.” He leaned forward and kissed her.

“Cute.” She kissed him back and then took another piece of pizza. “So, you’re just like any other bird?”

He grimaced. “Any other bird? Did you see me?”

She laughed and nudged him playfully. “I’ve never been that close to a golden eagle before. You were very impressive. But most eagles would be.” She giggled as he shook his head.

“When I shift I am like any other bird. Physiologically, at least, just like I’m the same as any other man when I’m in my human form.” He waited for her to correct him, but she didn’t. “That was when you were supposed to tell me that I am not just like any other man.”

“I know.” She was beautiful like this. Warmth and humor shone through, and he was more than ready to take her straight to bed. But they needed to get the eggs ready.

“OK.” He got up and fetched the paint he’d bought to decorate the eggs. “Let’s see if we can get them to look like golden eagle eggs.”

Beverly held a goose egg up next to one of the eagle eggs. “Do you think they’ll fall for it?”

“I do, because they are going to be in a hurry.”

“How do you know; do you have a crystal ball?” Beverly asked, placing the eggs down carefully as he mixed the paint to match the color of the eagle eggs.

“No. But I’m going to be up there.” He dabbed the paint on a goose egg, testing the shade, and then added more white paint to lighten it.

“Up there on the mountain?” Beverly asked.

“Up there on the nest.” He ignored her shocked look. “If I pretend to sit on the eggs, it will make everything seem more plausible. I’ll defend the nest until they frighten me off. And then I can fly away and shift, before coming back to arrest them.”

“Arrest them?” Beverly shook her head. “Oh no, that’s much too dangerous.”

Liam set the paintbrush down. “This is where I come clean about the rest of my life.”

Beverly’s hands trembled as she held the egg mold together. Carefully, she set it down. “Go on.”

“It’s nothing bad,” Liam assured her quickly. “I haven’t told anyone else in town except Leona. Although I think Brad might have guessed. Or been tipped off.”

“Tipped off?” Beverly ran a nervous hand through her hair. “Tipped off about what?”

“Before I moved to Bear Creek, I was an undercover cop.” The words spilled out but didn’t sink in and Beverly simply stared at him as if he were talking nonsense. “You asked earlier how old I was.” She still didn’t move. “Well, because of my youthful good looks, I was recruited to go undercover at colleges. To sniff out drug rings.”

“You’re shitting me?” Beverly stood up and walked around the room, her hand over her mouth. “You’re a cop? Are you undercover here?” She pointed at the floor. “Is this the real you?”

Liam got up and crossed the room, hating to see her upset. “It’s the truth. I was a cop, but right now, I’m on an extended leave. Very extended. I was good at what I did, and they would take me back in a heartbeat.”

A small groan escaped her. “You’re leaving Bear Creek?”

“No,” he reassured her quickly. “I was. But then I met you. And I like it here. My life before was exciting, dangerous, but living in Bear Creek, being with you… None of that matters anymore.”

Beverly sat down heavily in one of the soft chairs, and put her head in her hands. “You know, I always wanted excitement in my life. It’s why I decided to join the mountain rescue team. I hated being the boring one. I flirted with the bad boys, the movie stars, and anyone else I thought would add a little excitement to my boring life.”

Liam crouched down in front of her and took her hand. “I can do exciting.”

She shook her head. “I don’t want exciting anymore. Today, at work, I reconciled it all in my head. I decided that being a small-town store owner, married to a small-town store owner, was OK with me.”

“I can do small-town store owner.” He kissed her hands. “I can do whatever you want.”

“Won’t you miss it?” Beverly asked.

“No. What I have here is more exciting. It’s the promise of a new life. Our life. Together. For me, as a shifter, there is nothing more exciting than that.”

  “Really?”

“Really.” He turned his head to look at the eggs. “If you want me to pack this all away, I will. Leave it to someone else to catch them.”

Beverly snorted. “Not on your life. Let’s nail those bastards!”

Liam chuckled. “Why do I think there will never be a dull moment in our lives?”

“Because small town does not mean small-minded.” She got up and picked up the mold, while he continued mixing paint until he got the color just right.

They worked on the eggs for the rest of the evening. Liam managed to fit a small transponder, left over from his undercover days, into the egg Beverly made. When they set it among the painted goose eggs, it blended well. Only when they looked at the goose eggs next to the golden eagle eggs could they tell they were all fake.

“But Derek and Olsen won’t have the real thing to compare them to. And unless either one of them is a real expert, they’ll simply put the eggs in an incubat
or and put as much distance between them and the mountain as they can.”

“And you are going to put pressure on them by saying stop in the name of the law.” Beverly put on a funny voice.

“Hey, don’t go making fun. If it ain’t broke…”

“Are you seriously going to say that? And expect them to stop?” Beverly asked.

“No. Which is why I plan to enlist a little help.” Liam placed the eggs in a plastic container, ensuring they were well padded. He didn’t want them to crack on the way up the mountain.

“And that help is from a wolf or a bear shifter?” Her voice rose as she ended the sentence, as if it sounded stupid.

“Wolf. Wyatt should be willing to help. I get the feeling he is opposed to anyone using the mountain or its inhabitants for their own gain.” Liam carefully placed the Tupperware tub in his backpack.

“What about Carter and Jacob?” Beverly looked concerned, which made him love her that little bit more.

“I can take care of myself,” he assured her.

“And you can ask for help from other people in town.” She folded her arms. “You are part of Bear Creek now. And if you don’t take help, I’ll tell Leona.”

  Liam frowned. “Leona?”

“Yes, from what you’ve said, she’s a good friend, and she’d want to keep her employer safe. So, if you don’t ask for help, I’ll ask for you.”

He sure would not like to mess with Beverly. He’d let himself forget that she helped her dad run the grocery store. That took a firmness and no-nonsense attitude.

“I’ll ask them myself.” He placed the backpack down on the sofa and moved in for a kiss.

“Oh, OK. Now we both have jobs to do.” She pecked him on the cheek and then went to fetch her purse.

  “What jobs?” Liam asked.

“I’m going to go over to The Catherine Hotel, where Derek is staying, and see if I can get him on his own. Then I’ll sweet-talk him into believing the information I give him about the golden eagle nest.” She put on her best pouty face. “Who could resist me?”
