Before Matt could answer, Vic's neck and shoulders cleared the water. Four thin slits pulsed on either side of his neck as if breathing. As the air hit the gills, a look of terror crossed Vic's face. His mouth opened and closed, his nostrils flared, his eyes widening as he struggled to breathe. ::Matty.::
Releasing his lover's hand, Matt placed both palms on Vic's damp scalp and shoved him back beneath the water. With a splash, he fell into the pool himself, his weight driving Vic down.
Once the water closed over Vic's head, Matt released him and swam back to the edge of the pool. ::You okay?:: he asked, his hands shaking. ::Vic--::
