Cheaper to Keep Her part 3 (More Money More Problems) Page 17

Shaking with fear, I said, “Oh my God! Are you for real?”

“Yes, I am. And that’s why it’s important for you to get into the program so what happened to her wouldn’t happen to you.”

“Look, I’ve heard enough. Can somebody get me out of here right now?” I asked nervously.

“I’m gonna get Agent Pax and Agent Morris to transport you to a safe location in just a minute.” he replied.

After he gave me the rundown, he slid back out of the truck and pulled Agent Morris to the side. Seconds later, I saw Agent Morris coming towards me so I knew I was about to be out of this place.

  It’s real in the field!

  No Way Out – Twenty-Seven

Agent Morris got on the passenger side of the truck while Agent Pax drove. It felt good to be getting away from the apartment but these dumb ass cats thought I was going to be around for the long haul. No sir! Not me! I swear after all this shit is over, I’m getting missing in action. And once I get rid of the dope, I should have enough money to last me as long as I lived modestly and stayed underneath the radar. For now, I intended to keep my money and my plans a mystery. It’s about Lynise and Lynise only.

“Where exactly are you guys taking me?” I asked. I figured since I was going in hiding; why not find out where they were taking me. I mean, it was my life that was on the line and I felt like whom better to look after it but me.

“We’re taking you to a secured location called the safe house.” Agent Morris answered.

“Is that like a house y’all got hidden in the woods or something?”

“I see you watch a lot of TV.” Agent Morris commented.

“Yeah, I love the show CSI and In Plain Sight.” I replied and then I turned my attention to the high-rise buildings as we passed them. “How faraway is this place? Because it’ll be a bummer if we gotta drive more than thirty miles.”

“You shouldn’t be worried about where we’re taking you or how long it’ll take us to get you there. Everything we do is confidential. But I will say that the place is safe and secured. And no one will be able to find it.”

“Can you at least tell me if y’all are taking me out of the state?” I continued to probe.

“No. You’re staying within the city limits. And once Bishop is picked up and prosecuted, then you’ll be able to leave and go wherever you want,” he answered.

Agent Morris kept giving me the runaround about where they were taking me so I left the whole thing alone. I wasn’t the type of chick that begged anyone. No way. He got me confused with somebody else.

During the rest of the drive the agents talked amongst themselves so I went into thought mode. I couldn’t help but wonder where they were going to house me and how long I was going to be there. Finding out this information would help me figure out how to make my escape plan and how long I would need to come up with one.

Finally after a thirty-five minute drive, Agent Morris told Agent Pax he had to use the bathroom. “Pull over to the Exxon gas station so I can use the bathroom.” he said.

“Yeah, I gotta take a leak myself.” Agent Pax told him.

“Well, I’ll go first and when I get back, I’ll stay here and let you go.” Agent Morris insisted.

“Let’s do it.” Agent Pax said and then he stopped and parked the SUV next to one of the gas pumps.

I sat in the backseat and watched Agent Morris walk to the men’s restroom, which was inside of the station. The sun was shinning bright and it seemed as though everybody was outside. I looked around to my left and saw a cute little Volkswagon Passat. It was white in color and it looked like it had just been driven off the showroom floor. The chick behind the wheel parked it at the gas pump next to ours. And when she got out of the car, I immediately knew that she was a stone cold gold digger. To sum up how she looked, she looked like she was Hispanic and black. Her hair was very long, but she wore it up in a ponytail. And she definitely had the body of a video vixen, minus the butt pads. I watched her as she removed a McDonald’s bag and a drink cup from her car and threw it into the trashcan next to her pump.

When Agent Morris came back outside this young lady caught his eye. He got her attention by saying something to her and after she looked up, she smiled and stopped everything she was doing. I watched them as they walked towards each other. I made a comment to Agent Pax about Agent Morris flirting with the woman. “Check out Agent Morris flirting with that young Spanish hottie.” I commented.

  “Where?” Agent Pax asked.

  “To your left.” I replied.

Agent Pax turned to his left and saw Agent Morris talking with the woman. “He’s not flirting with her. That’s Chrissy. She’s one of our linguist specialist” Agent Pax said.

“Did you say Chrissy?” I said aloud, because for some reason that name rung out to me.

“Yeah, why you know her?” Agent Pax asked me.

Before I answered him I thought back to the time I spoke with a Chrissy from Bishop’s phone. And I remembered Bishop talking to Monty about a Chrissy. But could this be the same Chrissy? “Nah, I don’t know her. But I do know somebody with the same name.” I finally replied.

“We all do.” Agent Pax commented.

“So, what exactly does she do?” I wanted to know.

“She’s the best translator in our office.”

  “Oh really?”

“Yes, she speaks like four or five different languages.”

  “Wow! That’s hot!”

Minutes later, Agent Morris decided to join us. But instead of climbing back into the SUV on the passenger side, he walked up to the driver side with Chrissy in tow. Agent Pax rolled down his window. “What are you doing on this side of town?”

“My mom lives near here so I decided to come out here to visit.” she told him.

I swear, when she started talking I nearly pissed in my pants. This was the exact same chick I talked to on Bishop’s cell phone. She had the same fucking squeaky voice. But how was it that she was involved with Agent Morris? I was completely at a lost for words. I was literally confused and had no idea what to do.

“Today is definitely a nice day to take a drive.” Agent Pax assured her.

“Tell me about,” she commented. And then she said, “So, where are you guys on your way to?” she wanted to know.

But before either one of them could respond to her I interjected by saying, “Don’t tell her! She’s working for Bishop.”

Agent Pax turned completely around in his seat to get a good look at me while Agent Morris peaked his head into the driver side window. And when Agent Morris opened his mouth to say something to me, both agents got their heads blown off. Agent Morris and Agent Pax’s brains where splattered all over the front seat, the windshield and some their blood and pieces of body tissue plopped on me as well. I was in complete shock. And I screamed as loud as I could.

Now after she took both of these men out, she pulled on the backdoor handle and tried to open it. Lucky for me, it was locked. “Somebody help me!” I screamed.

I saw at least five people near their cars but no one wanted to come near the truck. I did see this lady get on her cell phone, so I assumed she was calling the police.

“Somebody please help me! She’s trying to kill me!” I continued to scream. I needed some fucking help. I figured that if these people weren’t going to risk their lives to save mine, then they’d at least call the cops for me.

After three failed attempts to open both back doors, Chrissy tried to shoot the windows out but she couldn’t get them to budge. And when she finally figured out that they were bullet proofed she stuck her gun inside the driver side window and aimed it at me. She pulled the trigger and I ducked down behind the seat but that didn’t prevent me from getting hit. The bullet went right through my left shoulder. The feeling of that bullet burning through my skin was unbearable. And I knew that if she got the chance to shoot me again, I wasn’t going to make it. But thank God,
she emptied out the clip on both agents and the windows, because when she finally got to me, she only had one bullet left.

With the combination of frustration and hearing the police blaring their sirens, Chrissy hopped back into her car and sped off. I swear, I never felt so relieved.

Minutes after the cops and the paramedics arrived, I was carried out of the truck and placed on a stretcher. And right before they put me into the ambulance, I made sure they grabbed my purse and laid it beside me. I was in very bad shape but that didn’t alter my judgment in any way.

Finally arriving at the hospital, the paramedics pulled up to the emergency dock. And when they rolled me out the back of the ambulance, they placed the stretcher on the ground and that’s when I got a strange feeling that someone was watching me.

So, while they rolled me towards the entryway, I lifted my head as much as I could and when I looked towards the parking lot, I saw this man who looked just like Bishop sitting behind the wheel of a parked car. My heart did summersaults. But at the same time, I wondered if I was seeing things. So, I closed my eyes and when I opened them back up, I took a second look but the car was gone. Now was my mind really playing tricks on me? Or was Bishop lurking out there and waiting patiently for the perfect time to take me out? I couldn’t answer the first question but I knew he wanted me dead. And he wouldn’t stop at nothing until it was done.

  Thank God I’m still alive!
