“That was amazing,” I said when we finally finished.

He straightened and picked me up until I was cradled in his arms. “You’re amazing.”

He brought me back to my bedroom, where we had sex one final time. This time we looked into each other’s eyes as we came together, and I knew that I would never experience anything so raw, so intense, as that beautiful moment.

When it was over, he pulled me into his arms and kissed me with so much emotion, it made me weak.

  “Stay the night,” I whispered.

“Honey, you couldn’t get rid of me if you tried.” As he pulled the comforter up over our naked bodies, I knew that he was right. Cam would stay with me forever, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

  Chapter 7

“You don’t have to do this, you know,” I said a week later as we waited in the small hospital room.

Cameron stopped pacing and flashed me an incredulous look. “I know.”

“I’m sure you have something better to do.”

He frowned and resumed his pacing. “There’s nothing more important to me than finding out the results of your tests.”

I shook my head and smiled, knowing that arguing was useless. When Cameron got an idea in his head, there was no shaking it. The man was hopelessly stubborn.

It had been two weeks since he night he had shown up at my door, and Cameron has been a constant at my side. I’m not sure what I’d do without his quiet strength.

True to his word, Cameron had taken care of everything when it came to my health. At his insistence, I moved out of my apartment and into his, where he felt he could better take care of me. He dissolved his relationship with Williams and Chase Advertising, saying that he was putting the launch of his new clothing line on hold. He conducted all other business by teleconference from his living room, and pampered me with luxurious takeout meals from some of the best chefs in the city.

He came with me to all of my doctor’s visits, and hovered over me like a mother hen. He hand-chose my doctors and paid for all of my care. There wasn’t a single thing that had gone missed. In my darkest nights, Cameron was there, holding me, telling me everything would be okay. I believed him. There was something about his presence, something about his determination and quiet strength, that made me believe that no matter what the diagnosis, we would overcome the new obstacle together.

In short, the past week felt like a wonderful dream, and part of me didn’t want the situation to end. But end it must, for today was the day we were to find out the results of all the testing I had gone through over the past several days.

“Doctor, finally,” Cameron said as an older man entered the room. “Do you have any news?”

I grasped Cameron’s fingers. His large hand engulfed my small one and I took comfort in the reassurance his presence provided.

“Yes, I do have news, in fact.”

Cameron dropped my hand and slid his arm around my shoulders. “How bad is it?”

“Bad? It’s not bad at all.” The doctor smiled warmly at me. “I’m happy to report that the results of your test came back.”

  “And?” Cameron asked.

The doctor glanced and him and returned his focus on me. “And…they came back negative.”

I stared at him in shock. “You mean to tell me that I don’t have cancer?”

“No, absolutely not.” The doctor grinned. “Everything came back negative.”

I was too stunned to speak. We had mentally prepared ourselves for the worst. Cameron had even started calling some of the best specialists in the country, ready to fly them in if the diagnosis looked bleak. Now the diagnosis had come back and the news was better than either one of us had dared to hope.

Cameron turned me to face him. “You’re fine.” He let out a half chuckle as his eyes shone bright with unshed tears. “You’re fine!”

I grinned and hugged him tight as tears streamed down my face. It was over. This horrible, exhausting nightmare was finally over.

The doctor graciously allowed us a moment to absorb the news. When we finally stopped hugging, the doctor handed me a tissue to wipe away my tears.

“Thank you, doctor,” I said. “I can’t tell you ow much this means to me.”

“If the spot on her lung isn’t cancer, what is it?”

The doctor shrugged. “It looks like it could be some scarring, perhaps from an old bout of pneumonia or other respiratory ailment. The scarring looks as if it had been there for a while.”

“Oh, thank goodness,” I said, turning to Cam. “

Cameron stood and shook the doctor’s hand. “Thank you. We appreciate all of the hard work you have done.”

“No problem, son. No problem at all. I’m just glad that this story had a happy ending.”

It didn’t take us long to gather our things and make our way to Cameron’s Bentley.

“We aren’t going home,” I observed as we turned in the opposite direction from his apartment.

  “No, we’re not.”

I glanced over at Cam, but his gaze was fixed on the road. “Where are we going?”

“We just got some of the best news of our lives. I’m in the mood to celebrate.”

I straightened in my seat and gave him a nervous glance. “Cameron, where are you taking me?”

He flashed me a grin and refocused on the road. “Somewhere special You’ll see.”

  Chapter 8

“I can’t believe you did this,” I said as Cameron handed me a glass of sangria.

“Did what?” His expression feigned innocence as he slid into the seat next to me on the deep-cushioned sofa.

“All of this.” I waved the glass around the small airplane. “It’s too extravagant.”

“You got some fantastic news. We need to celebrate.” He clinked his glass with mine. “Now drink.”

I smirked and shook my head as he took a long sip from his glass. When we first arrived at the airport and told me that we were going to take an extended vacation to his condo in the Cabo, Mexico, I had accused him of going overboard. It seemed silly to spend so much money on me, but Cameron wouldn’t be swayed. I had expected him to book a flight on a commercial airline, but had been blown away when the airport security drove us out onto the runway, where Cam’s private jet was waiting. Within moments I was whisked into a luxurious cabin, where a pitcher of sangria and several tapas were waiting.

Now we were finally mid flight with almost all of the tapas and sangria consumed. I had to admit that I had never felt so happy, or so loved, in my entire life.

“I can’t believe you did this for me,” I said after I finished my sangria. “I don’t deserve all of this.”

“You deserve all of this and more.” Cameron slid the glass from my fingers and put both my drink and his aside.

He leaned back against the couch and brushed a stray hair from my face. The touch was so gentle and caring. Both my skin and my heart warmed at his touch. “Then, after we are both fully rested, we can talk about building an ad campaign for my new clothing line.”

“You still want me to design the campaign?”

“I want you to do more than design the campaign.” He leaned forward and whispered in my ear. “I want you to run it.” He slid his tongue over the rim of my ear, causing my lower abdomen to stir.

  “Do you really mean that?”

“I think you should open your own agency,” he said in between nibbles on my ear. “I can be your first client.”

“Cameron…” I giggled as he leaned forward and slid his arms around my middle. “I can’t believe you are doing all of this for me.”

“I’m not doing it for you.” he leaned back so I could see his face. All of the love and affection he felt could be seen in his expression, and it took my breath away. “I’m doing it for us.”

This time when he leaned forward, I met him half way. The kiss started off gentle, but quickly turned needy. Within moments we were tearing at each other’s clothes, desperate for the intimate contact o
f skin-on-skin.

As the clothes piled up on the floor next to us, I reclined back on the sofa, bringing Cameron down on top of me. I loved how good his weight felt against my body His large frame made me feel protected and cared for. As we kissed and explored, I spread my thighs apart, inviting him deeper. When the edge of his shaft pressed up against my pussy, I groaned with appreciation.

“I love how you feel against me,” I said when we finally broke for air.

“Me, too.” Cameron reached over for one of the empty glasses.

“What are you doing?” I asked as he examined the bottom of the glass.

He grinned and tipped over the drink, spilling the last few drops of liquid over my breasts. I gasped as the cool liquid splattered against my hard nipples.

“Enjoying the last of the sangria.”

He bent forward and slid his tongue along my sensitive skin. I groaned as he swirled his tongue over my sensitive tip, sending tingles of pleasure through my entire body.

Reaching down, I threaded my fingers through his hair and groaned. He felt so amazing, so right. I arched my back, pressing my nipples closer to his mouth. As good as he felt, I knew that I needed more.

“Oh God,” I said as he lightly scraped his teeth along my nipple. “That feels so good.”

“And that’s just the beginning.” He reached down and positioned himself so that the tip of his cock pressed up against my opening. “I’m going to make you feel better than you have ever felt in your entire life.”

He pressed his hips forward, invading my most intimate place. I moaned with pleasure as the muscles inside my body stretched to accommodate his length.

“Yes,” I whispered as his hips pushed against mine. “Oh God.”

He pushed harder, lifting my hips off the couch. Then he retreated and repeated his thrust, driving a ribbon of ecstasy through my core.

Fully seated, he leaned down and captured my lips in a hot, searing kiss. “I love you, Sadie.”

I wrapped my arms around his neck. “I love you, too.”

“And I want to spend the rest of my life making you feel amazing.”

“You already make me feel amazing.” I tightened my inner muscles around his cock, causing him to moan with pleasure

  “I want to do more.”

“You’re already done enough.” I slid my fingers around to his cheek. “I don’t need all of this. All I need is you.”

His eyes shone bright with love as he leaned down and brushed his lips against mine.

“You’re perfect, Sadie,” he whispered as he pulled his hips away from my body. “You’re perfect, and you’re mine.”

It didn’t take us long to find a rhythm. Soon all talk dissolved into whimpers of pleasure and groans of need. Our bodies came together hard and fast, until all that existed was this man, this moment. Higher and higher I went, loving how he seemed to perfectly fill every inch of my body. Then I was there, balancing on the edge of orgasm. He adjusted his position, hitting a sensitive spot dep inside of my core. My world exploded, and I hugged his cock as my world exploded in ecstasy and bliss.

My orgasm triggered his own, and I didn’t know what felt more satisfying: having my own orgasm, or watching him have his. The moment was so emotional, so deep and I knew that I wasn’t the only one who was affected by the moment. As Cameron turned our bodies and pulled me close, I could tell that what we did had an impact on him, too.

As I laid my head down on his chest, I couldn’t believe how lucky I was. Not only did I find a wonderful and sexy man, but I found someone who loved me for who I was, and didn’t try to change me into something they thought I should be. Cam didn’t put me down because of my inexperience or unconventional ideas. He celebrated my differences and encouraged me to be true to myself. Through him, I’d discovered the type of person I wanted to be and found true happiness, and in the end, that was all that really mattered.

  Epilogue

  One Year Later

“What are you looking at?” Cameron asked as he joined me out outside on the wraparound porch of our luxurious beach house.

I flipped the page in the oversized book in my lap. “Pictures from our wedding.”

“Let me see.” He dropped his cell and a printed sheet of paper on a small table.

  “What’s that?”

“Nothing that can’t wait.” He joined me on the porch swing, sliding his arm around my pregnant belly and resting his chin on my shoulder.

“I can’t believe you ordered such a large cake. We were only a handful of people.” My family had been brought in and a few of Cameron’s friends and coworkers had arrived to pay their respects. All in all, we were only about one hundred people, and surely not enough for the ornate, four-tiered cake he had brought in from a posh bakery in New York City.

“I know how much you like your sweets.” He rubbed his hand on my belly. “And I’m sure our little girl will like desserts as much as her mother.”

“Stop it,” I swatted his hands away. “It’s only been three months. We won’t know the sex of the baby for several weeks yet.”

“I know.” He slid his hand back over my stomach. “I have a feeling, though.”

  “A feeling?”

“There are a lot of women in my family,” he said, referring to his many female cousins. “You have to admit that the odds are favoring a girl.”

I closed the wedding album and set it aside. “Would you be upset if it was a boy?”

“Of course not.” He nuzzled my neck. “Either way, I’m sure the baby will be perfect, just like you.”

“Flirt,” I joked as he kissed my cheek.

  “Always.”

“Hey, I have the initial numbers from your new ad campaign.”

“Our new ad campaign,” he whispered as he nibbled on my ear.

“No, your ad campaign. You’re my client, remember?” I placed my palm on his chest and eased him away.

He groaned and leaned his head back on the swing. “Can’t work wait?”

I couldn’t help but smile at his impatience. “This account is very important to me. It’s my first real ad campaign.”

He tilted his head toward me. “And it was the most unique and daring campaign I’ve seen in a long time.” He threaded his arms around me once more. “I knew you had it in you.”

I chuckled. “Well, the response has been great. Off the charts. People really seem to love the clothing line.”

“Who would have guessed that a simple internet meme would have brought in so much business?”

“I can’t believe it went viral so fast. Normally it takes time to cultivate these things. Make sure it is seen in the right places…by the right people. What are you doing?”

“Thanking you.” Cameron kissed me neck, causing tingles of awareness to spread out over my skin.

  “You’re insatiable.”

“Always.” Cameron groaned as his cell started to buzz. “I’m sorry, but I’ve been waiting for this phone call.”

“No problem.” I smirked as he pulled out his phone and walked to the other side of the porch to talk to one of his colleagues.

As he started talking, I moved to grab the wedding album, but then the piece of paper Cameron brought me caught my eye.

Frowning, I picked up the paper and started to read. It was an article Cameron had printed from the Huffington Post about my old company, Williams and Chase.

The author was Janet Kingsley, the very ad executive who had given me such a hard time during my internship. Evidently, Janet was complaining about how she had been fired from the company and replaced by someone who was half her age. She complained about how hard she had worked, and how unfair the advertising business could be.

I probably should have felt vindicated over how such a horrible person got what she deserved. Instead, I felt mostly pity. All her life, Janet had clawed and back-stabbed people to find her place in the agency. Now she had been replaced by someone who was several years younger. Janet had sacrificed ever
ything for that company, and in the end Williams and Chase had turned their backs on her just like they had turned their backs on me.

“You found the article, I see,” Cameron said as he sat next to me.

“I did.” I placed the paper back on the table.

“I thought you might find it interesting.”

“Interesting—yes. I also find it a bit sad.”

  “How so?”

I slid my arms around his neck. “It’s sad that Janet didn’t find someone to lean on like I did. All she had in life was her job, and in the end, the very people she was trying to impress tossed her aside like yesterday’s garbage.”

“Yes. It puts things in perspective, doesn’t it?”

“Absolutely.” I kissed his nose. “I’m so lucky I found you.”

“Not as lucky as I am.” He brushed his lips against mine. “I don’t know what I’d ever do without you, Sadie. You and this baby mean the world to me.”

“And you mean the world to us,” I said right before he kissed me.

“I’m glad to hear it. Now come here, Mrs. Wolff.”

I squealed as he dragged me into my lap. As his lips covered mine, I couldn’t help but think that getting fired from my first real job had been the best thing that ever happened to me.
