Twins on the Way

Gavin plucked the green glass container out of his hand and kissed his bride. “Mrs. Kavanagh can’t have alcohol at the moment, but we’ll save it for when the babies are christened. Besides,” he said, taking Cass’s arm and walking her down the aisle, “it’s gonna be one wild night in Vegas, with or without champagne.”
Epilogue
Cass lay with her eyes closed, feeling as if her body was floating over the bed. She ached in every cell...in every hair follicle. But beneath the physical discomfort was a deep vein of peace.
The door opened quietly and a man’s voice called. “Wake up, Mama. Your son and daughter are here.”
When she opened her eyes, Gavin had one baby and the nurse the other. Carefully, they each tucked a snugly wrapped infant into Cassidy’s arms. The nurse excused herself.
Gavin pulled up a chair beside the bed and sat down. “Have you ever seen two more perfect infants?” He was rumpled and fatigued, but he beamed. They had made the joint decision not to find out the sex of the twins ahead of time.
“We still have to pick names,” she said. “And our list is growing instead of shrinking.”
“How about Elvis for the boy?”
“I am not naming my son Elvis,” she said firmly, looking at Gavin’s face to make sure he was kidding.
“Then what?”
“I was thinking Lola for my mother and Reggie for your dad.”
“I thought you wanted unusual names, something that stands out.”
“I changed my mind,” she said, trying to imagine what it was going to be like when two babies toddled around the house.
“Well, I like it,” Gavin said firmly. “I’m going to fill out the birth certificates before you change your mind again.”
Cassidy’s heart swelled as she looked from the pink-capped head to the blue-capped one. “I can’t believe we did it,” she said. “It’s all over.”
Gavin laughed out loud, wincing when the babies scrunched up their noses. “No,” he whispered, stroking her elbow as he stood and carefully leaned over to kiss her. “It’s only begun, Cass. It’s only begun.”

MINDING HER BOSS’S BUSINESS
the passionate first installment in the DYNASTIES: THE MONTOROS series!
When a small orchestra launched into their first song, Alex stood and held out his hand. “Do you feel like dancing?”
He knew it was a tactical error as soon as he took Maria in his arms. Given the situation, he’d assumed dancing was a socially acceptable way to pass the time.
He was wrong. Dead wrong. No matter the public venue or the circumspect way in which he held her, nothing could erase the fact that Maria was soft and warm in his embrace. The slick fabric of her dress did nothing to disguise the skin beneath.
He found his breath caught in his throat, lodged there by a sharp stab of hunger. He’d worked so hard these last weeks he’d let his personal needs slide. Celibacy was neither smart nor sustainable. Certainly not when faced daily with such deliciously carnal temptation.
When he couldn’t think of a good reason to let her go, one dance turned into three. Inevitably, his body responded to her nearness.
He was in heaven and hell, shuddering with arousal and unable to do a thing about it.
When the potential future prince brushed past them, his petite sister in his arms, Alex remembered what he had meant to say earlier. “Maria…”
“Hmmm?”
Her voice had the warm, honeyed sound of a woman pleasured by her lover. Alex cleared his throat. “You need to be careful around Gabriel Montoro.”
Maria’s reaction was unmistakable. She went rigid and pulled away. “Excuse me?” Beautiful eyes glared at him.
Alex soldiered on. “He’s a mature, experienced man, and you are very young. I’d hate to see him take advantage of you.”
Maria went pale but for two spots of hectic color on her cheekbones. “Your concern is duly noted,” she said, the words icy. “But you’ll have to trust my judgment, I’m afraid.”
