What was she doing last night? Oh right yeah. It came back in a flood. Caught fiancée cheating. Check. Went to Bar Luna and drank just about her body weight in whiskey. Check. Left the bar being carried by Don... oh check mate.

She remembered flirting, or ranting she wasn’t sure which, with some young wolves. Then Don appeared and the next thing she knew she was in his truck. Everything went black after that.

Mmmmm her bed felt softer than usual, and bigger too. She stretched out her arms and legs waggling them around like she was making snow angels. Wait a second! This wasn’t her bed!

She sat bolt upright, her hangover screaming bloody murder. Crap, where were her glasses? She scooched over the bed, hands first feeling her way. Her hands left the edge of the bed and she was about to fall flat on her face when two arms grasped hers and placed her back on the bed. She quivered in awareness.

“Looking for these?” Smoothly he pushed her glasses on to her face. Her eyes adjusted to find Don kneeling before her. His bright blue eyes watched her closely.

Her face burned in embarrassment remembering last night. “Ummm thanks.”

She tried smiling at him but he remained impassive, and it hurt her head so much she stopped. Oh god she had made a total fool of herself in front of him last night. Maybe he was angry at having to deal with her when she was drunk.

She couldn’t bear the cold aloof look on his face and let her eyes drift round the room. It was a quaint cabin, with a big log burning fire, a patched up recliner, a small kitchenette with a battered looking table and two chairs, a few bookcases, a small closet and the massive, divine bed she now found herself in. It kind of reminded her of a holiday home version of her first apartment. Although thankfully she spied a separate bathroom, her old apartment unfortunately didn’t have that luxury.

Don was still staring at her intently. He’d spent the night watching her sleeping, entranced by her sweet little moans and twitches as she dreamed. He’d been agitated and aroused at her closeness, having her sleeping in his bed and his shirt was almost too much for him.

He’d spent the night thinking of different scenarios for when she woke up, different things to say. He wanted to sound smart, smooth, sophisticated. But now that it had happened he was unsure of himself. His beast yipped at him encouragingly.

“How are you feeling?” He asked lamely. Well, he was no James Bond but it was better than rubbernecking.

She exhaled deeply. “Like I inhaled a distillery. Ummm, where am I?”

He tensed slightly. “When I was givin’ you a ride last night you errr, you were pretty adamant you didn’t wanna go home.” He paused watching for her reaction.

She rubbed her forehead. “Right yeah, I caught my fiancée en flagrante with another woman. That’s a euphemism for they were having sex.”

He arched an eyebrow. “Yeah I managed to crack that code.”

She sniggered and then stopped, the vibrations hurt her head. “Right of course, you’re a fan of Columbo.”

He smiled crookedly at her, he’d told her that the first time they met. One of the best days of his life... “You remembered.”

She looked down uncharacteristically shyly. “Of course I did.” The memory was etched into her mind.

He coughed. “Anyway, you fell asleep before I could ask you where you wanted to go so... I brought you to my place. I’m sorry I shouldn’t have.” He should have taken her to one of her friends, if he had been thinking clearly he would have. But the thought of spending a little time with her had been too tempting.

“No!” She cried far too quickly and loudly, she grimaced and ground her teeth. “Thank you bringing me here, I really didn’t want to face Greg last night. I’m just sorry to put you out like this.”

He waved his hand. “It’s nothing, really.” The way he was feeling right now, he’d give her all his worldly goods and still consider it be a mere trifle compared to what she deserved.

Damn he had it bad. But then it had been a good four weeks since he last had sex. He was pretty darn horny.

She chewed her cheek, feeling at once awkward. “Is this your shirt I’m wearing?”

He stood up hands on hips towering over her and she shivered involuntarily. Man he was fine. Tall, dark and dreamy!

“It is my shirt, but I didn’t undress you. You err... you kind of woke up when we got here and undressed yourself.”

He moved over to the kitchenette ostensibly to get her a cup of coffee, honestly he just didn’t want her to see him blush. Truthfully when they arrived at his cabin, she had woken and still drunk had asked him point blank if he thought she was sexy.

He was stunned, too stunned to answer and had opened and shut his mouth like a goldfish. Not waiting for an answer she told him it didn’t matter because she would show him how sexy she was. Kayleigh had then started an impromptu striptease providing her own jarring music.

Man and wolf had practically panted at the sight. If she hadn’t of fallen over trying to remove her stockings, she wore a pair of particularly droolsome stockings, he would have blissfully stood and watched her until she removed every last item of clothing.

As it was he had to make sure she hadn’t hurt herself. She hit the floor at a terrific speed. When he picked her up she was guffawing like a loon, the alcohol dulling her senses. She was going to hurt tomorrow.

The animal in him was all for her resuming her sexy dance, however the gentleman in him realised he had to stop. Damn fucking gentleman! He had given her one of his shirts to sleep in and had told her to change while he turned around.

At least he had told himself he wasn’t going to look. He faced away like the gentleman he was, and after a few shuffling sounds he heard a muted thump. He called out her name and was answered by her soft snores.

Spinning round his heart practically stopped beating. Kayleigh was laid across his bed spread eagle wearing nothing but a pair of black lace panties. His eyes devoured every inch of her lush body, from her red painted toe nails to her graceful neck. Her peachy skin glistened and her golden hair was splayed around her head like a halo. His eyes traversed her generous curves, settling on her full breasts and rosy pink nipples.

His beast had howled in delight as his already hardened erection became downright unbearable. Growling he had pushed his manhood down with the palm of his hand, trying to make himself more comfortable.

Unenthusiastically he had wrestled her into the shirt, his fingers tingling as they ghosted over her silky skin. The wolf objected vociferously to covering her up but he didn’t imagine she would be thrilled to wake up naked in his bed. He would be though...

He shook his head chasing away the memory. That was something he’d enjoy later, on his own, probably in the shower...

“You want some coffee?” He called to her.

  “Mmmm please.”

He poured a cup and turned back to her. She was stood next to the bed stretching her arms up over her head and yawning. The shirt rose up, giving him a peek of her panties.

He stood stock still as his arousal rose spectacularly. She didn’t seem to notice and shuffled over to him taking the cup.

He watched her avidly as she sipped and moaned in pleasure at the taste. He groaned as he hardened, if he lost anymore blood from his head he’d lose the ability to even speak.

She smiled. It was nice being in Don’s home, even nicer waking up in his bed. She could imagine long lazy days reading by the fire, and then longer nights spent in each other’s arms in that delectable, big, soft bed...

She couldn’t stay there. She’d already trespassed on his time and hospitality enough, and he didn’t seem overly thrilled to have her there. She should really get going.

She downed the rest of her cup. “Thanks for everything you’ve done. I guess I better get home, I can’t hide here forever.” As much as she might want to... “I better go talk to Greg.”

A pained look spread across Don’s chiselled face. Her heart leapt, he didn’t want her to go, he wanted h
er to stay!

  “What’s wrong?” She asked demurely.

“Leavin’ might be a problem... look out the window.”

Her brow creased but she moved over to the window wordlessly and pulled back the drapes. The outside world was white, covered by a mountain of snow and more was flurrying to the ground with wild abandon. She was snowed in. She was snowed in alone with Don!

  “Holy crap on a cracker!”

  Chapter Nine

Kayleigh sniffed the air, her mouth watering almost obscenely.

After the shock of finding herself snowed in... alone with Don, she had gone back to bed to try and sleep off her raging hangover. She’d just woken to the tantalising aroma of home cooking. Her stomach grumbled powerfully, objecting to the fact that she hadn’t eaten all day.

She licked her lips and reached for her glasses from the bedside table. Sitting up she blinked owlishly at Don.

He brightened when he saw her. “Hey you’re awake. I heated up some lasagne. You hungry?”

Her stomach angrily answered him. “Well maybe just a little...”

Throwing back the covers she practically sprinted over to the kitchen table, inhaling the wonderful smell. “God that smells good. I feel like I haven’t eaten in days.”

They sat down to eat, each gladly bolting their food down. Don hazarded quick glances in her direction. He wasn’t sure what to say to her. Sorry I brought you here and trapped you with me indefinitely?

Kayleigh concentrated on her plate of food. Whilst she napped she’d had another steamy sex dream about Don, this time she was a burglar and he was the police office who’d caught her... What would Don think if he knew about her x-rated dreams?

When they finished she pushed her plate away and pursed her lips. If she was going to stay here she had to overcome her discomfort and just get on with it. She just had to be careful not to say or do something stupid. She had to avoid showing him how badly she was attracted to him and keep her raunchy imaginings to herself.

“Sooooo... how bad is it out there?”

Don finished chewing and wiped his mouth on a napkin. He had such good manners, how many other men used napkins in their own homes. She almost swooned. She gave herself a hard mental kick, getting turned on by a napkin was not a good start.

“Everythin’s covered in snow, I can’t get my truck out and it’s too deep to walk anywhere. I might be able to make it out in my wolf form, but I wouldn’t get far. I’m sorry you’re not goin’ anywhere for now.”

Ever since he’d seen how bad it was out there he’d been fretting about being trapped so close to Kayleigh. His desire for her had been slowly rising since he met her, but after seeing her semi-naked it had gone through the roof. His every nerve ending pulsed in anticipation of being with her, not to mention what was going on in his pants. He doubted he’d ever be comfortable again.

His wolf and his body urged him to be with her, to take her. Each time she slept he’d scented her arousal. She was having a sex dream that was for darn sure! He’d had to keep a tight rein on himself otherwise he might have crept into the bed and tasted her sweet honey.

He wondered if she’d been dreaming of him, if she experienced hot dreams like he did for her... probably not. She was likely dreaming of her asshole fiancée, although she hadn’t exactly seemed devastated when she was talking about him earlier, more... put out.

He needed to keep her at arms length, if he gave in and they had sex ultimately he would break her heart. She couldn’t be his mate, he had to think of Melinda. Kayleigh wasn’t the type of woman you took to bed for one night, she was the kind you kept forever.

As much as he would love to be with her, he shouldn’t. For her own sake, he had to save her from getting hurt in the long run. If he played it cool and aloof, she wouldn’t want to be with him and it would take away temptation.

Kayleigh played with her fork. “I’m sorry you’re stuck with me here.”

  “It’s fine.” He replied curtly.

She frowned at his tone. “Is there anything I can do to make this easier?”

He huffed. “How ‘bout we both just stay out of each other’s way? We’ll get along fine.”

“Ohhhhh kayyyyyy.” She said slowly. Had he had a personality transplant and she just hadn’t noticed? “Can I make a phone call?” She should at least let Greg know she wasn’t lying in a ditch somewhere.

Who did she want to call? That dumbass Greg? Did she want to talk to him? To forgive him and give him another chance? His beast yowled at that thought trying to push his way out. No Kayleigh was ours!

Don gripped his own thigh under the table, pushing his claws inexorably into the skin. A little pain would give him perspective. Kayleigh did not belong to them. He was resolved that after the snow melted she would leave his cabin and he would avoid her. At all costs.

“The land line’s down due to the storm and your cell won’t work out here.” He was pretty sure the land line was down... if he hadn’t neglected to pay the phone bill last month and been cut off he was pretty sure it would be down anyway due to the storm.

“Oh.” She looked at the table.

His jaw twitched. She was disappointed about being here, the thought saddened and angered him in equal measure.

She hung her head, not wanting him to see her dippy little grin. She really was alone with him, it was like a real life romance novel! All it needed was an erotic sex scene in front of the roaring fire...

Okay so he wasn’t exactly falling over himself to be with her, in fact he’d been pretty disinterested in her since they met. Although he had brought her to his home when she was passed out drunk, another man might have just dumped her at home. Don went out of his way for her. Surely that meant something? In her experience men didn’t do that kind of thing unless they wanted something... but she was the first to admit she hadn’t dated the cream of the crop.

She was half-certain he wasn’t entirely immune to her charms. Maybe with a little persuasion... A giddy thrill coursed through her at the thought of trying to seduce him.

There was just one thing that was nagging her. She hadn’t showered or brushed her teeth in over a day, she imagined she smelled less than fragrant. She needed to freshen up a little before she let him anywhere near her. Beside which, he seemed to be in a bit of a mood, a little time for him to get over his mini strop couldn’t hurt.

“I was wondering if I could take a shower?”

Wordlessly he got up and moved to the closet and pulled out another plaid shirt and a pair of black boxers. Just how many plaid shirts did he own? Roughly he pushed them into her hands. “There’re towels in the bathroom, just put your dirty stuff in the hamper.”

  She beamed at him. “Thanks.”

“I’m goin’ to bring in some firewood.” He muttered.

No way did he want to be in the cabin whilst she was in the shower soaping up her naked body. Just the thought of it sent him into a frenzy. The freezing cold air would cool his ardour.

He yanked the door open, not even bothering with a coat, and stepped out into the white.

  *

Kayleigh stepped under the warm spray of the shower. She moaned at how delightful it was to feel the water running over her skin.

Thankfully she always kept a travel toothbrush and a small supply of make up in her purse. She’d given her teeth and tongue a thorough cleaning and after her shower she would artfully paint her face.

One weird thing about Don is that he didn’t seem to own many mirrors. One in fact, a tiny one she found in the bathroom he must use for shaving. Did he not care what he looked like? She sighed, looking like that she guessed he didn’t have to. He was a natural hottie.

Still, if she lived here the first thing she would do was buy a full length mirror. Who the hell didn’t check their reflection before they left the house?

She was looking up at the showerhead when she froze. The most enormous spider was crawling down it towards her face. Fuck she hated spiders! Just back awa
y, everything will be okay.

Carefully she took a step away and then the freaking spider fell onto her head and she screamed bloody murder. It’s on her head, it’s on her head! She flailed around screeching loudly. Her feet slipped on the wet floor and she clutched the first thing she made contact with. With a resounding rip she pulled the shower curtain down as she collapsed into the bottom of the bathtub.

A second later the bathroom door was wrenched open, shattering the lock.

“Kayleigh!” Yelled Don, alarm laced his voice.

He strode into the bathroom, ignoring the destroyed shower curtain, and pulled her to her feet.

“What happened?” He demanded, his face an inch from hers. Even without her glasses she could see the panic in his face.

“It is was spider.” She told him fretfully.

He faltered and stared at her open mouthed. “A... a spider?”

“It was huge! It tried to kill me!” Alright maybe she was being a little melodramatic.

His eye twitched. “Really? Did it have a gun or a knife?”

“Ugh, you’re making fun of me!” She pouted prettily. “I swear it was enormous! And it launched itself at my head!”

She stepped out of the tub with his hands still gripping her, and she manoeuvred closer to him. “I’m really scared of spiders, please get rid of it.”

She batted her eyelashes at him and chewed on her full red bottom lip. Suddenly he was aware that Kayleigh was completely naked. How could he have missed that? Her warm, soft body and taut nipples were pushed against him. He trembled in awareness as his manhood sprung to life.

Kayleigh felt his shaft slowly growing between them. No, he definitely wasn’t immune to her. She pressed herself against him and heard an imperceptible groan escape his lips.

Don’s eyes scanned the room. Superficially to look for the supposedly killer spider, but in reality it was anything to avoid looking at her glorious body. Less than twenty minutes ago he had resolved to stay away from her and now lewd thoughts were racing round his head. Well she was already naked...
