Her heart began to thump and the door wasn’t opening. Lena got up and went to the kitchen, but there was no little box on the bench. There were no signs that he had been there at all, except maybe one.
Lena reached back, lifted her dress and slid her hand down her panties to touch her bottom. It was warm and sore, and she nearly burst into tears when the front door opened.
Dylan eyed her curiously as she giggled and ran to him, throwing her arms around him.
“What’s wrong?” he frowned.
“Nothing,” she laughed. “Nothing at all. You’re here now and that’s all that matters.”
He stepped back and let his gaze wander over her. “You look beautiful.”
“I feel beautiful,” she smiled. “But thank you anyway, but don’t leave me alone so long when you go off to do things.”
“I had to make a couple of calls,” he explained. “But I wasn’t gone that long.”
“Long enough,” she insisted, pouting.
Dylan grinned and lifted her chin. “Lena, I’m back and I’m not going anywhere without you again. You’re stuck with me.”
Her fears faded away as she gazed at him and finally allowed herself to believe what he was telling her. This time they would be walking out the door together.
