  “No!”

Nina was near her breaking point. She could feel the orgasm just beyond her grasp, an explosion. A few more strokes of his cock, plundering deep, was all she needed. She’d do it herself, rubbing and twisting against him, but he was too strong. She was pinned to the mattress.

“Please,” she cried, clutching at him.

  “Say it.”

  “Say what?”

  “Say that you’re mine.”

“Huh?” The rusty gears in her mind turned slowly until she understood. Dmitri was holding her orgasm hostage until she told him what?

A single stroke teased her. “I said tell me you’re mine. Now. Forever. Your mind, body, heart. I want it all.”

She stared at him. He was serious. She wanted to tell him he was crazy, but that wasn’t what came out.

  “Why?”

“Because I already know you belong to me. But you need to know it, too.”

Nina gaped, her heart picking up speed.

“Now, Nina.” The veins in his neck were corded as if he was under great strain. Good. He should be hurting, too. But this kind of pain was pleasure’s twin, and she could end it by saying two words.

Dmitri was too impatient to stay still. He began to thrust, slowly this time… She sighed in relief, wrapping her arms around him, but he wasn’t ending their little standoff. His pace stayed in the same maddeningly even tempo, just enough friction to keep her hungry.

Shit. Little warning shocks of electricity ran through her body, but the build was too slow. She tried to stay strong, but Dmitri was too smart for that. He knew what he was doing. Nina was on the brink, her body poised for flight, but until he let her, it wasn’t going to happen.

Just say it. Hell, she felt like his already. What difference did it make?

  Her lips firmed mulishly.

His eyes hot, Dmitri pushed all the way in, grinding right against her G-spot, breaking down her resolve the best way he knew how. Red swamped her vision, and she pulsed around him. Moaning aloud, she writhed, trying to force him to speed up, but he held her down, not letting her break.

The tension built, and she sobbed aloud.

“Nina…” Her name was hissed as both prayer and warning.

Fuck. She couldn’t stand it anymore. “I’m yours,” she gasped.

His breath expelled in a shaky rush, and he closed his eyes, murmuring something in unintelligible Russian.

She didn’t understand what he’d said, but her heart skipped a beat. Dmitri pressed her into the bed and began to stroke in earnest, harder and faster. Her whole body rocked, the metal frame of the bed grinding and squeaking as if it were going to break.

Nina accepted each thrust greedily, wiggling and twisting to rock in counterpoint until he swore, and she felt the head of his shaft pulsing. Hot jets of seed filled her, coating her sheath as she splintered, shattering and falling to the ground like a shower of sparks.

Dmitri fucked her through their orgasms, wringing every ounce of pleasure from her body until she was lying prone on the bed, emptied and broken like the fiery wreckage of an exploded star. He landed on top of her with a shudder, his open mouth at the base of her neck. For a long moment, his teeth grazed her, but after a minute he let go, falling to her side with his arms wrapped around her.

Her last thought before passing out was absurd, the product of the fevered mind of a woman who’d just had her brains fucked out.

He was going to bite me.

  Chapter Nine

His mate had the most beautiful skin. Dmitri had been studying her face for nearly an hour, ever since he woke up.

He couldn’t believe he’d slept at all. He wasn’t the kind to drop off after a bout of sex. Usually after he rocked some female’s world, she would fall asleep, exhausted from trying to satisfy a Were in his prime. Once the woman was in dreamland, no doubt reliving their encounter, he would find his clothes and make a quiet exit.

The first time with his mate and he was out like a light.

I needed the rest. Nina had sapped his strength in a single round. Her curvy and fragile human body was so small he could carry her in the crook of his arm, but she may as well have been a damn wrecking ball.

At least he didn’t have too much on his plate at the moment. His meeting Nina on a plane had been less than ideal, given his inevitable reaction to her, but the timing couldn’t be faulted. Except for the Boston job, his schedule was wide open. Of course, Cass wouldn’t agree, but she was a bit of a pessimist, especially if the job had a six-figure payday attached like this one.

This weather delay had Cass’s panties in a twist, but he’d never failed to deliver on a job, so she could simmer down while he handled the work at his own pace. Once he wrapped up the job—few days max—he’d be able to focus entirely on his mate. Maybe he’d take her home to seal the deal in the traditional manner of the men in his family.

His mother would have been pleased with Nina. She was special. Calling her a firecracker would be an insult. No, she was TNT wrapped in C-4. Which was why he needed to secure her as soon as possible…

Dmitri had known her for less than a day, but he was already willing to bend his world around her.

There were two types of male weres. Those who sought out the mate bond and those who ran from it. He’d done neither. Since he was technically rogue, he was used to passing through other packs, coming and going as he pleased.

He’d seen a fair number of shifter couples come together. Some welcomed the all-encompassing bond. They saw it as an end to loneliness, and a chance for a truly intimate connection. It made them complete. Others, often men like him, went down hard, fighting it every inch of the way.

Dmitri learned a lot from observation. He hadn’t been in a hurry to find his true mate, but he’d always known that when he did, he’d take what life offered. It was his way. Laissez-faire didn’t work for economies, but it did for the way he lived.

If life was giving him Nina, he was smart enough to take her, now and forever. She was more than a gift…she was a promise. Of what, he only had part of the answer. Time would give him the rest. He was looking forward to it.

Unable to help himself, Dmitri caressed the creamy skin on Nina’s hip. He knew he should let her sleep, but her siren’s call lured him in even in repose.

Hunger roared, and his touch grew aggressive. She had slept long enough.

Nina’s nose wrinkled. She sighed, eyes fluttering open. Dmitri watched her face as she woke. He knew the exact moment she hit full consciousness. In his arms, her entire body tensed when she realized where she was.

She peeked down, then snatched up the blanket to cover her bare breasts. Her bashfulness was adorable.

“I’m naked,” she whispered in a hoarse voice, sounding as if she couldn’t believe it.

“Making love is easier that way. Don’t get me wrong—even if you were dressed, I could work around whatever you were wearing. I’ve been known to get creative when presented with obstacles…”

She clutched the blanket closer, flushing a delicate rose, but her body quickened and heated deliciously. The predator in him licked its chops.

He bent to take her lips, but she put a hand on his chest. “We shouldn’t.”

Dmitri shifted, enjoying the way her silky skin felt against his much rougher body. “Why not?”

She wanted him—that much was clear in her scent. It wrapped around him, teasing his senses and making him hard.

He turned on his back, taking her with him. She landed on top, breasts pressed to his chest.

“B-because we can’t.” Her eyes were clouded with confusion and lust, but she didn’t try to move.

Dmitri stroked her hair. “Tell you what. You can take me this time. I’m nothing if not fair.”

He shifted, bringing his cock to rest against the silky skin of her inner thigh. She gasped, her eyes widening as he rolled his hips, rubbing a little so she could feel the breadth and width of his long length.

  A little
sound escaped her, something between a squeak and a huff of disbelief. Her fingers splayed on his pecs, and she started to stroke down his abs as if counting the ridges. Hungry now, Dmitri focused on her lips, so rosy and swollen from his earlier kisses.

“You’re miles away from home, Nina,” he murmured. “Think about what you want for a change. I bet you don’t get a chance to do that too often.”

It was a bit of swing, but he saw her eyes flare with heat and need. The tip of her tongue flicked to lick her upper lip. Confident he had her now, Dmitri pressed on her back, guiding her forward for a kiss.

She met him with a whimper, a tiny tremor running through her as he took advantage of her parted lips to slip inside. He stroked her tongue with his, teasing until she was kissing him back. Gripping her hips, he adjusted her until her wet heat was sliding over his shaft without actual penetration.

He pressed his head into the pillow, exulting in the feel of her—the way her weight felt on his lap and the delicious friction of her pussy on his cock.

Dmitri wasn’t the kind to enjoy the anticipation of sex. He liked fucking too much to waste time on foreplay. His past partners hadn’t been the sort who minded. But a mate was different. She had to be savored. He could honestly do this all day.

Nina, however, had overcome her reticence. Tiny teeth biting into her lip in concentration, she reached for him, rising enough to fit the head of his shaft at her entrance.

“Oh, oh, oh.” Nina panted, her breasts heaving as she settled onto him, swallowing him inch by inch into her tight little channel.

It was better than Nirvana. The high of every drug he’d ever taken paled in comparison.

“That’s it, baby. Ride me.” His growl was unintelligible even to him, but she understood. Tentatively, she began to move.

There was such a disparity in their sizes that she needed help at first. He leaned against the pillow, letting her crouch over him at an angle so she could back onto his cock with ease. But they weren’t mates for nothing. Soon enough, she adjusted, catching and setting a rhythm that stole his breath.

“Hell.” Dmitri’s jaw clenched, his eyes nearly rolling back in his head as the vise of her muscles tightened on the downstroke.

Not one to be outdone, he bent his head, urging her close enough to take her breasts in his mouth. He lathed the bud, grazing it with his teeth, then sucking until she cried out and fell against him.

Dmitri pushed her up, turning his attention to the other breast. As he rolled her nipple between his teeth, he reached between them, pressing on her clit with the pad of his thumb until she was gyrating on his lap. Her moans were like music to his ears.

“Louder, baby. I want you to be louder,” he urged, pausing to bite the delicate lobe of her ear before taking control of her hips. He grabbed them, pushing and pulling until she was riding him hard, driving up and down on his lap.

A few moments later, Nina screamed, her eyes closing as her pussy spasmed around him, going soft and silky with her climax. Her orgasm started to tip him over the edge, but he moved, pulling out and turning her over until she was on her hands and knees beneath him.

Palming one of her breasts, he thrust into her from behind, barely missing a beat. He fucked her fast and hard, slamming into the creamy skin of her backside with audible slaps. Electricity shot through the base of his skull. He had to bite his tongue to keep from howling aloud as he came, pulsing and shooting his seed into her, driving it deep into her waiting womb.

He collapsed, breathing fast, before rolling to his side, his arms thrown around her to pin her against him. Pulling her in tight, he refused to leave her body until she made him.

That didn’t happen for some time, but she eventually pulled away, turning to face him.

She was so easy to read. Her face gave away everything she was thinking.

Never let her play poker against Cass.

“I have no idea what I’m doing,” she whispered.

“I beg to differ. I think you do everything very well.”

She tsked and smacked his arm, regretting it instantly. “Damn it,” she said, shaking out her smarting hand. “What the hell are you made out of?”

“Sugar and spice and everything nice.”

Nina smirked. “That’s girls. Boys are made of snips and snails and puppy dog tails.”

Dmitri scowled. “Is that how that saying goes? I object. And what the hell is a snip?”

Shrugging, she giggled. “I think they mean like a leftover bit of something.”

He hmphed and pulled her closer, stroking her hip despite strong hunger pangs. It wasn’t until her stomach growled that he reluctantly rose.

The bag of supplies he’d borrowed from the general store had been forgotten on the table.

“I’m afraid there’s not much of a selection for our meal. Nothing fresh. They only had canned stuff in stock, but there are peaches and chili.” He paused, inspecting the due dates on the label. Only a month or two past. They would do.

When Nina didn’t answer, he turned back to see her sitting up, huddled under the blanket. “Please tell me you aren’t a vegetarian.”

  “No. I’m just feeling a little…weird.”

Concerned, he put the can down. “Is it your head?”

“No, I mean…um…” She gestured to him. “I don’t do this sort of thing a lot. I’m not into casual sex.”

“Nina, it’s time to face the facts… There is nothing casual about this.”

Dmitri took the cans to the kitchenette stove, turning to hide the fact he could open them without using a can opener. He threw her a smile over his shoulder. “As a matter of fact, I think I should be your plus one to this wedding.”

“That’s sweet of you to offer, but you can’t come.” Her tone held a note of wistful finality.

“C’mon, love. You shouldn’t have to face the firing squad alone. Take me along. Introduce me to the family. Make your sister eat her heart out.”

Nina laughed. “Someone has a healthy opinion of themselves.”

His back still to her, he flexed his gluts, making them dance for her. “Is your ex a big guy? Handsome and built? Rich?”

Even if he was, he wouldn’t compare to Dmitri—not the way he planned on treating her. A mate was a wolf’s greatest treasure. He was going to make sure she knew it.

“No, of course not! I mean, he’s average. Not like you.”

Facing her, he tried not to smirk as she stumbled over her words. “I mean, he’s attractive. And he has family money, but that doesn’t matter. I can’t take you. I don’t have a plus one to the reception.”

“Your sister stole your fiancé and she is denying you a plus one to their wedding?” Damn, that was cold. He shuddered. “Makes me glad I’m an only child.”

Nina fidgeted. “It’s not like that. I didn’t ask for a plus one. I also didn’t exactly get a formal invitation—just my mother ordering me to be there. I’m not exactly on speaking terms with my sister. Besides, no one would believe I met someone so soon anyway. Matt and I were together for years. Since med school. My relatives would take one look at you and think I hired an actor…or a hooker.”

Dmitri stirred the chili, deciding it was hot enough before digging around for bowls. “They won’t think that. Trust me.”

Even if they did, Dmitri wouldn’t let them think it for long. Anybody making snide comments about his mate would have to answer to him. As for the rest of the lot, he was going to be a permanent fixture in Nina’s life. Her relations might not buy their relationship right away, but it wouldn’t take them long to see he wasn’t going anywhere.

He held out a bowl of steaming chili to his mate. “Don’t worry about anything now. It’s going to be a little while before the roads are clear enough for us to get out. Until then, eat, rest, and recharge.”

Her stomach growled, and she took the bowl without complaint. He watched with satisfaction as she began to eat.

This was only one of the ways he was going to take care
of her. She’d soon learn the others once they left this cabin. Until then, they were stuck here, and he was going to make the most of every minute.

  Chapter Ten

Nina shifted in the seat of the trying to relieve her discomfort. Only a few hours of driving and she was already stiff and aching. Or maybe that was all the sex? She shifted in her seat, parts of herself she was usually unaware of throbbing. And it was definitely not from the long car ride.

Over the past two days, she’d had more sex than the entire rest of her life combined. She’d lost count of the times she and Dmitri had come together, or the exact number of orgasms she’d had. Of course, now she was hurting in unfamiliar places.

No one should be able to go on and on like that, she thought, peeking at Dmitri from the corner of her eye.

Her eyes flashed to the steering wheel…those big hands holding the black leather-bound circle brought a flood of memories back—fingers on her breasts, on her ass, in her body. Blushing furiously, she turned away.

I must be insane. A few days ago, this man had been a complete stranger.

But now he’d touched or sucked every inch of her body. He’d fucked her in all the positions she’d heard of and a few she hadn’t. He probably knew her body better than she did. She’d certainly never gotten herself off as fast or as hard as he had. And he was several orders of magnitude better in bed than her ex.

The man may be a professional escort. How else did he know how to do all that? He’d played her body like a fiddle. If he did charge money, women would throw their last dollar at him. And he’d deserve it.

He’s an air marshal, not a hooker, she reminded herself. The man’s protective instincts were real. She’d seen them multiple times, first on the plane during the emergency landing, then at the cabin with the way he fed and cared for her. Selfish people wouldn’t have gone out of their way to ensure her safety and comfort like that. Even in bed, he’d been generous, always seeing to her pleasure before his. She wasn’t used to that.

Matt hadn’t been selfish, or at least she hadn’t thought so at the time. But he’d been her first. Nina was only now starting to realize there was so much more to sex and intimacy than she’d believed.
