  Chapter One

“Norman, you and your family have to stop making all those holes. I have to leave here and I won’t be able to protect you anymore,” Jasmine said, looking at the gopher, whom she considered her friend and who she was trying to stop from making a mess of the fields. She knew the ranch hands wouldn’t think twice about killing her secret buddy.

Jasmine threw him the last of the vegetables she had brought with her. Tears rolled down her cheeks. “It looks like we both have to go our separate ways and grow up a little. I won’t be here to protect you, I can’t count on my mom or Cole anymore. It’s just me, but maybe it’s best this way.” She stood and looked down at her friend. “Bye, Norman.”

Jasmine Alexander pulled her black sweater tighter around her shoulders and stared out the airplane window hoping her little friend would survive. The only things she had packed other than a suitcase full of clothes, were her laptop and her favorite Coach purse, which was loaded with some of the knick-knacks her mother and so-called stepfather, Cole Madox, had given to her as a child. She really did love Cole. He was the father she never had.

Resting her head on the little window, she smiled, remembering the first time she had met Cole. He had been the prince come rescue her and her mom, Katherine.

The little black and gray wolves that Cole had given to her, which she had talked to on so many occasions, were now safely tucked in her purse. It was weird that Cole had given her the figurines. They were identical to the wolves from her dreams, but then again, nothing surprised her. Now that she thought of it, one of the wolves looked just like Cole in his wolf form, all black with a touch of gray here and there around his pelt.

It wasn’t that she was afraid that his pack, or whatever they called it, would hurt her, but she and her mother had made a pact ten years ago, that they would always be truthful. No matter how much it hurt, they weren’t going to keep anything from each other from that day forth.

Her nipples hardened, and Jasmine squirmed in her seat, as she remembered the first and last time she had seen Logan and R.D. in person, at her mother’s change. Another strike against her mom and Cole.

True, she was 30 years old and had always lived with her mother. But now that was going to change. Jasmine had always loved to travel and what better place to loose oneself than to be in Cleveland. She smiled. Nope, she knew her mother would look for her in New York, thinking she’d go there, but Ohio would do nicely. There would still be a little country nearby, while still visiting the things a city would have.

Voices filled the plane, and Jasmine turned to see what the commotion was about. Logan and R.D. were standing by the door at the front of the plane, their gaze searching until they locked to where she sat.

“Son of a bitch,” Jasmine grumbled as they made their way down the aisle toward her without touching a soul. The passengers seemed to duck away from them. Each man seemed to possess a natural aura of power and danger. Their gaze never left hers as they moved towards her. The black cowboy hat on R.D.’s head was tilted forward, casting a shadow, but Jasmine knew those eyes and expression not only in the flesh, but the heated dreams she had had over the last six years.

She would never admit this to anyone, but these men were her dream lovers. They would demand full control over any women they chose to be with and right now their focus was to mess up her life, damn it.

Logan stopped in front of her row and held out his hand, reaching over the woman next to her. “Come.” One word, but it held so much power that the woman jumped up and moved back, giving the two men easier access to her.

“I have nothing to say to you or anyone else. Go back to your family, Logan, because it’s obvious it’s not mine,” she snapped and turned her face towards the window before both of them could see the tears that filled her eyes.

She couldn’t say anymore. Jasmine thought her tears were done, but they obviously weren’t. “What the hell?” she screeched and tried to catch her laptop and purse before they fell to floor, but Logan grabbed both.

After R.D. lifted her up, she watched Logan strap her laptop case and purse around his thick neck.

“When we tell you to do something, you will do it, Jasmine,” R.D. stated, forcefully pulling her out of her seat, and sandwiching her between himself and Logan, as they nudged her down the aisle. “Your mother has been looking for you frantically for the past two days, and with what she just went through, she does not need this added stress.” He actually growled as he moved down the plane’s doorway.

“You stupid asshole! She’s hurt? I wasn’t the one who lied all these years. I’m not the one who broke the pact we made so long ago! Let me go, now!” she smacked his back and hurt her hand on the hardness of his muscles.

Behind her, Logan grabbed hold of her ponytail and tugged on her hair until she turned to face him. R.D. stopped before stepping onto the sky bridge. “Don’t you think your mother knows this?” Logan stared at her. “You need to work this out, not take off like a child.”

“One, I’m 30 years old and I can do whatever I want. Damn it, Leave me alone, now! Jasmine shoved R.D.’s back and once more hurt her hand. “And what the hell? Do you have a piece of board under that shirt?”

“You shouldn’t be hitting me. Did you hurt yourself?” he said and gently took her throbbing hand into his. “Nothing looks bruised, but don’t do it again. And you’re still going home. This needs to be worked out,” R.D. rumbled. He kept hold of her hand and pulled her out into the airport terminal, while Logan moved to her other side, taking her other hand into his.

“You know I can walk by myself. You don’t need to hold my hands,” she tried to pull away from them and heard a snarl from R.D.

“And stop growling at me,” Jasmine swore her hormones were zinging all over the place every time they snarled at her. Jasmine’s nipples hardened and her panties were now damp.

“Hush, it’s hard enough walking through the airport with you,” Logan hissed, but kept his dark green eyes on those around them.

“Well, I’m not the ones who came barging onto my plane and took me off of it! You should have just left me there, but nooo…” she snapped, pissed off that her so-called stepbrothers thought they were too good to be seen with her. Who needed them anyway?

Way back in her mind, the little voice inside her said she wanted to belong to them, both of them, but it was something she knew she shouldn’t think about. The taboo stepfamily was one thing, but the other thing she’d kept secret couldn’t come out. Jasmine wouldn’t put anyone else in danger. Maybe she really was deranged, like her father had first told her as a child and then so many times growing up. No one could help her exercise that demon, no matter what they were.

  ***

R.D knew he and his brother were demanding. After all they took after their father, but seeing Jasmine again two days ago, had thrown their whole family into turmoil. He knew that not only was she his mate, but she was also his younger brother Log
an’s. Oh, they had shared women many times before, being both Alphas of the local pack. They had ruled it together since their father had stepped down, but it was a rare occasion that two alphas would be mated to the same woman.

He glanced down at Jasmine, between them, and smiled. Her little whispers to herself were cute and her hour-glass figure was still perfect. He loved that she had breasts big enough to fill his hands, an ass large enough to grab onto, but he couldn’t help daydreaming about shoving his cock into that hole. The purple stripe down her long brown hair told him she had spunk, which they both had witnessed firsthand.

Feeling his gaze, she glanced up at him, her cheeks turning a nice pink color under his heated stare. “What are you looking at?”

“You,” was all he said before turning his attention back to their surroundings.

They had been told that no one had informed her of the existence of their kind, which just pissed both of them off. The only thing their father had done right was put a tracking device in her laptop. From what they had learned, she never went anywhere without it.

Right now though, R.D. knew how important it was that they bring her back to his father’s house. With their father’s new mate, her mother Katherine, going through the transformation, this additional stress could cause a great deal of harm. Transformation was an extremely painful time for a human

He glanced back down at the woman between him and his brother. She was a tiny thing who stood around 5’4”.

Logan snarled. R.D. immediately understood his brother’s growl, when he saw the wolf leaning against the wall staring at Jasmine. Then, the wolf moved to step forward, as if to challenge them, and it was too much. Tonight that man would be put into his place. R.D. would make sure to seek this member of his pack out and teach him a thing or two.

R.D. walked out into the fresh mid-morning air as their limo pulled up. Logan opened the door and guided their run-away mate into the vehicle, while he turned to face Cliff Dacker, the wolf who dared to follow them outside.

“It’s good you’re here, now pack your bags. You have two days to collect what’s yours and get out of town or I’ll deal with you personally,” R.D. stated, hearing the little gasp behind him, but ignored it, concentrating on the threat at hand.

“What’s wrong R.D.? Can’t take any challenge? Am I that much of a threat to what you perceive as yours? Maybe we should find out if the woman prefers me over the two of you?” Cliff bellowed, trying to look past him, but R.D. had had enough and grasped the man around the neck, lifting the close to 300-pound man up into the air.

“If you come anywhere near what is ours, I’ll rip you apart!” He dropped Cliff, shoving him backwards before they drew any more attention. “There is no challenge here, Cliff, because I see nothing but a whinny little pup in front of me. Now go, before I do something I’ll regret.” R.D. turned and nodded to one of his guards. “Make sure he is packed and out of our territory by tomorrow,” he stated before getting into the limo.

As soon as he was in the car with Logan next to him, he turned to see Jasmine pasted to the side of the door farthest away from them. He shook his head and glanced at his brother. “Make sure Cliff is gone tomorrow. We don’t need him starting up trouble.”

The car phone rang and he leaned over to answer it, already knowing who it was. “Yes Father, we have her, and we’re on our way back. We’ll be there in about ten minutes. I’ve already had her luggage sent back to our house so you can tell her mother to relax.”

Jasmine hissed and glared at him. “You had no right. Tell your father I’ll be leaving as soon as I see my mother,” she snapped and reached over, grabbing her purse. She pulled out her phone. “As a matter of fact, I might as well make my reservation now.”

Before she could use her phone, Logan reached over her and yanked it out of her hand. “I don’t think so. You’re not going anywhere,” he rolled his window down while staring at her, and tossed it out.

“You mother-fucker!” she screeched and threw her purse at his head, but missed as it too almost went out the window. “You had no damn right! That phone cost me close to a grand, you…” she stopped yelling, and squeaked when Logan dragged her over both of their laps, stomach down.

“What the hell are you doing? Let me up!” She kicked and even bit Logan’s thigh, making him growl. He brought his hand down on her ass.

“One, there will be no swearing. Two, if you ever throw anything at us again, we’ll put you back over our knee and spank your cute ass.” To prove his point, he smacked her three more times while she cried and squirmed in their laps.

“Three, we have every right to touch you, spank you, and stop you from doing stupid things, Jasmine. You are ours,” Logan smacked her two more quick swats before lifting her and turning her to face them.

She sat on his lap with tears running down her cheeks, staring at Logan, then at R.D., before shaking her head. “No”…she stopped what she was about to say.

R.D. leaned over her, inches from her face. “Yes, there is no doubt. We knew it before you ran out of the room when your mother was being brought over to our world. Your mother knows and so does our father. We’re not letting you go, Jasmine. If you need time to deal with this, fine, but you’ll do it at our house where we can make sure you are safe,” he said as they pulled up into the driveway.

He reached over and grabbed a napkin from the bar, wetting it, before turning to their stunned mate. Cleaning her face, R.D. tapped her nose. “You’ll get used to us. Just follow the rules, Baby.”

  Chapter Two

Jasmine didn’t say a word as she got out of the limo, her nails digging into her palms as she stared up at the sprawling ranch that had been her home for the past 20 years. Logan and R.D.’s words played over and over again in her mind, but what they said couldn’t be true. Her dream men were really hers? Had it all been a lie? They couldn’t stand being with her, so how could she be theirs? Not to mention the fact that they had shown up out of the blue and announced that they were her stepbrothers and her mates? Nope, she was not going down that road. It was too weird and brought up too many bad memories she had buried or hidden deep inside her.

The front door opened and Cole, her stepfather, walked out onto the porch, his dark blue eyes focused on her as he moved down the steps towards her. Never taking his eyes off of her, Cole stopped in front of her. “Thank you for finding her. We were so worried.” He reached up to touch her face and she stepped back.

“I’m here to see my mother and then I’ll be gone, out of your hair. No matter what your sons say, I won’t stay in a place where there are lies. Excuse me while I find my mother and see what she wants.” She moved to step around Cole, but he placed his hand on her arm, stopping her.

“There have never been any lies, baby girl. We might have kept things from you, but we have never lied and you know this. Your mother has just gone through a major transformation, and a painful one at that, and any stress on her will only slow the healing process.” Cole stated.

“Then you should have allowed me to leave, because right now…” she shook her head and looked towards the door to see her mother standing there. “She should have told me,” Jasmine whispered and tears rolled down her cheeks, her legs felt like lead as she slowly moved toward the house.

Her mother’s dark hair was pulled back into a ponytail and Jasmine could see she had been crying too. “Mother, what can I do for you? As you can see, I’m fine.”

“Please, can’t we talk? Let me explain what happened,” her mother begged, taking her hand into hers squeezing it.

“I don’t see how that’s going to help.” She raised her arm. “All of this has been a lie. I’ve live here for what? Twenty years, and not once was I told Cole had children. Not once was I informed about his species, then you go and change yourself without even considering me and how I would feel.” She shook her head and glanced back at her.

“We made a pact when we got away from Him, but maybe it’s better that you didn
t keep up your end of that pact, because neither did I.” Jasmine stepped into the house at once knowing she shouldn’t have opened her mouth. She headed to the living room, but not before hearing the hiss of Cole’s anger and her mother’s gasp.

“What do you mean you didn’t keep your word?” her mother asked following her with Cole at her side. “Has your father contacted you?” Kathrine asked as Jasmine sat down in her favorite rocker recliner, tucking her feet under her after she took off her shoes.

Both Logan and R.D. stood next to her, frowning. “He used to beat you, didn’t he?” R.D. asked almost growling, but she ignored him.

“No Mother, he hasn’t contacted me. But he is out of jail last I heard.” She buried her hands under her legs, looking down at her lap and started to rock. Jasmine shook, hearing the Nightmare Man’s voice as a whisper in her head. He was getting stronger or the stress was getting to her and blocking him out wasn’t working. Jasmine had created a wall a long time ago to keep him out, but something wasn’t right.

“Now tell me your story so I can begin my life,” she whispered, digging her nails into the bottom of her thighs.

“You will not take that attitude in this house, Jasmine. Your mother deserves a little more respect than that. She got you away from that man and had him locked up,” Cole stated, giving her a disapproving stare, which he had only ever used a few times on her.

“You’re right, she did, but it wasn’t in time to stop him from sharing his daughter with his best friend,” she snapped back. Cole’s disapproving words had hurt enough to make her say things she shouldn’t have.

“So you see, Cole, I know what it’s like to be lied to, over and over again.” She took a few deep breaths, not even bothering to look at her mother, as the voice only she heard got louder and the pain radiated inside her head.
