When Lust Rules Page 8

Luken brought the bottle of beer to his lips and took a long drink, then smiled as he lowered it. “Javin. Since you like worrying about love lives so much, you’re on Kendall duty.”

“Seriously?” Javin indicated his own body with his hand. “You’re really going to waste all this muscle on babysitting?”

  “Yep.”

Javin scowled as the others laughed. “That’s just wrong.”

  * * * * *

Julie sat down on the dark-leather sofa. The night had definitely been wild to say the least. She’d walked with the two wolves and the dark-headed man in silence for about thirty minutes when a small community came into view. Scott let her know this was their den and that she was to follow the two wolves to Luken’s home and wait for him there. It had been kind of awkward walking with the two animals…er…people. Honestly she wasn’t really sure how to refer to them.

She knew they would be able to hear her if she spoke, but it wasn’t as if they were going to talk back. So instead of filling their ears with her nervous chatter she’d chosen to walk with them in silence.

When they arrived, the black wolf remained outside, while the gray-and-white wolf had nudged her toward the door. Julie had been surprised to find it unlocked, but she walked inside followed by the wolf.

The furnishings in the living room were geared more toward comfort than style. A leather sofa and loveseat lined two of the walls. A big flat-screen hung on one wall and a recliner sat with its back facing her. No pictures decorated the cream-colored walls. Either Luken had moved in recently or he really didn’t care much for interior design.

The wolf had taken off down the hall and now Julie could hear a shower running. Maybe this wolf was a relative or something of Luken’s since she seemed to make herself so comfortable in his home.

A few minutes later the water shut off and Julie turned to see the lithe beauty coming down the hall. Long white-blonde hair flowed down her back. She’d put on a T-shirt that Julie had once seen Luken in, so she knew where the woman had gotten it. She really hoped this girl was a relative, because she really didn’t like the picture she presented wet from a shower wearing his shirt. The hem hit her mid-thigh, revealing muscular legs covered in pale, creamy skin. Her coloring as a wolf didn’t differ much from her coloring in this form. A china doll. A well-built china doll.

Jasmine smiled as she walked into the living room. “I guess I should properly introduce myself. I’m Jasmine, and I‘m one of the pack’s patrol members.”

Julie accepted the woman’s offered hand and gave it a quick pump. “Julie. I guess I’m the one who has caused y’all trouble.” Well, she really couldn’t say she was Luken’s girlfriend or anything, and fuck buddy didn’t have a very nice ring to it while sitting here with this hot half-dressed Barbie doll who apparently knew Luken way better. And why did that bother her so much?

Jasmine took a seat in a chair opposite Julie. “It’s no trouble really. For whatever reason our alpha values you and so the pack values you. It’s not a hardship to offer protection.”

Julie felt her brow furrow. The blind loyalty in this group was astounding. “I appreciate it. And I’m sorry to bring this to your door. I tried to talk Luken into letting me out, into walking away, but he wouldn’t.” Her gaze fell to her lap. She didn’t want to be a burden to these people. At one point last night she’d envisioned meeting the other people in Luken’s life, but she sure as hell would have chosen different circumstances under which to meet them.

Jasmine waved her concerns away. “Really. It isn’t anything big. I’m more interested in getting to know you. And I bet you have a hundred questions. So how did you and Luken meet?”

Julie looked up at Jasmine. The smile she wore looked sincere, and Julie wasn’t sure how to interpret the situation. Her past dictated for her to be wary. Even a smiling someone in Arik’s bunch was holding a knife they wanted to bury in your back. But this woman was trying to put her at ease and Julie trusted Luken, and he trusted Jasmine. “We met at the bar nearly five months ago where I work.”

  “Which bar?”

  “Harry’s.”

“Oh wow. That means you should know Tyra.”

Julie’s heart missed a beat. “You know Tyra?”

Jasmine laughed. “Of course. She’s my old alpha’s mate.”

  Julie blinked. “Tyra’s a wolf?”

Jasmine gave her a duh look.

She wasn’t sure why it hadn’t occurred to her before now, but it made perfect sense. “Would that be Luken’s friend? The tall guy with dark hair?”

“Yeah. His name’s Konrad. We split off of his pack right after he and Tyra became a mated pair.”

Julie tried to absorb all of this, but she felt a little lost. “So did y’all have a fight with them or something?”

“No. We’re still very close. It’s just that Luken needed to split off. He’s a natural-born alpha and he couldn’t remain under Konrad. The only other choice would’ve been to fight to the death for dominance. They chose to make the split. Those of us who wanted had the choice to go with Luken. We’ve even picked up some strays in the last couple of months.”

Julie’s head was spinning. Fighting to the death? Really? Would this be any different than living with Ivan in Arik’s world? Oh God, is that what she’d heard over the phone? Had someone else had a death match that Luken watched?

“Are you okay? You look a little washed out.”

Julie shook her head, her mouth opening and closing as she sought words. Where should she start? “Do these death matches happen a lot?”

Jasmine’s lip curled in disgust. “No. Not here anyway. But there are some packs out there that act like a bunch of rabid dogs. Some are so power hungry that they won’t let loose of any of their pack. So in those cases if someone wants their own pack, then they have to take it. We try as much as possible to stay in touch with our human sides and use reason.”

Relief swam through her. It was good to know that they wanted to remain civilized. Oh what was she thinking? In the last several hours her world had been overturned. These people were werewolves and Luken…damn if he hadn’t made her body burn with passion unlike any she’d ever known.

“I know it’s a lot to take in.”

Julie stared back at Jasmine. Their blue eyes meeting. She didn’t see any signs of cruelty in their depths. Such pale beautiful orbs that were a shade lighter than her own.

Jasmine reclined back in the chair. “Why don’t we start small? Ask me some questions about pack life. We really aren’t much different from you, well, except the whole transformation and howl-at-the-moon thing.”

Julie let loose a small laugh. “Well. I’m not really sure where to start. I mean I didn’t even know about all this until tonight. I accused Luken of fighting dogs.”

Jasmine laughed. “Oh that was classic. I wish I could have seen his face. But why did you think he was fighting dogs?”

“Earlier today I called him and there was, I guess, a wolf fight going on in the background. I didn’t know what to think.”

“Oh. You heard the match that Kendall was in.”

Julie remembered that name being called out in the background. “Who’s Kendall?”

“He’s one of our juveniles. He found his mate in another pack and there was a little bit of a scuffle. Another wolf wanted to lay claim to her so the other alpha requested a match for dominance. Kendall won.”

Julie’s eyes widened. “He killed the other guy?”

Jasmine sat forward, waving her hand. “No, no, no. I should’ve clarified. My bad. He just handed him his ass. This wasn’t a death match. Our males are a little more possessive though so it does lead to some fights now and then. They are like souped-up testosterone-filled human guys. You know, always wanting to play the my-dick’s-bigger-than-yours game.” Jasmine laughed. “But let me tell ya, it makes them that much better in the sack though.”

“Really?” Julie leaned forward, eager to learn more about this world Luken
came from.

“Oh yeah. You ever want to have some nice and wild sex, make Luken jealous.”

Julie frowned and looked down at the beige carpet. Did Jasmine know this from experience?

A big laugh interrupted Julie’s inner thoughts.

“No, okay. Just eww. I have not smashed with Luken. He’s like my brother.”

Again Julie felt relieved. She was starting to like Jasmine, and if she’d been with Luken things could have gotten weird. Over the next half hour Julie had been amazed at all the things she’d learned about the pack. They were self-sustaining. Each had their own function inside the pack, like those who patrolled and those who cared for and educated the young. Aside from that they all had jobs. Lots of them ran businesses where others of their kind would work. They even employed some humans who were in-the-know. Not many, but a few. Each business paid a percentage to the pack, and that money was then invested by wolves who were sent to school and educated in the ways of the stock market and investments. They didn’t trust their finances to outsiders. The money gained was used to support the pack, used for the upkeep on their homes, schools and placed in their security. It paid those who watched over the young and who patrolled the den. They were their own form of government. And in that instance it would be like Luken was the president. This made her cringe. She sure didn’t look at herself as first-lady material.

  “Luken’s back,” Jasmine said.

Julie smiled and looked toward the door a second before it opened. Everything about these wolves was starting to astound her. Jasmine had heard him or smelled him or something. What would it be like to have those kinds of senses? A pair of sweats rode low on his lean hips. His dark hair was loose, flowing down his bare back. Damn he was sexy.

Luken smiled at Julie as he addressed Jasmine. “There should be a new patrol schedule put out, be sure to check it. We’re on high alert until further notice.”

“I better get going.” Jasmine stood up. “It was nice to meet you, Julie.”

Julie stood. “You too.” She watched as Jasmine walked toward Luken. His hand reached up and he stroked her hair as she sauntered past him and walked out the door. Julie tried to focus on what Jasmine had said about Luken being like her brother, but damn if that hadn’t seemed like a caress of sorts. Maybe Luken didn’t think of her the same way.

He closed the door and then crossed the room. Julie didn’t have any warning before he had her in his arms, face buried in her neck. Her body came alive at the contact and she relaxed into him. He may have caressed Jasmine’s hair, but this was a way different sort of welcome he had reserved for her. Her nipples hardened and she grew slick with need.

“I wish I could go back and kill all of them for hurting you. How bad are your injuries?”

“Not bad. Mainly just the cut on my head. But you know how head injuries are. They bleed like crazy no matter how bad they are. I think I picked off all the glass on the walk to your home.”

“I’m glad you’re okay. I still want to go back and kill them.”

The words were spoken in a low growl that rumbled through his chest and sent hot breath against the sensitive skin on her neck. His fingers dug more harshly into her body. Was this a glimpse into that possessiveness Jasmine had spoken of? His hold didn’t hurt, but it wouldn’t allow for her to pull away either. Nor did she want to. She laced her fingers into his hair and was rewarded with another low growl and the scrape of his teeth on her neck. She shivered.

His lips traced a path across her jaw and then claimed her mouth in a searing kiss. Tongue and teeth waged a war of passion as their hands began to roam over each other’s body. His skin was warm and smooth under her palms as she ran her hands down his back. He gripped her hair at her nape and pulled her head back, plunging his tongue deeper into the recesses of her mouth. His cock pushed against her lower belly, its length hard and thick. Her pussy tingled as wetness coated her labia.

His body began to shake and he released her lips. “I need.”

The words were filled with raw hunger. “Yes,” she whispered.

“Can’t be gentle.” He kissed her thoroughly, pulling back on a gasp. “Don’t want to hurt you.”

She cupped his face in her hands and met his gaze. His eyes shimmered, turning a lighter shade then back to the chocolate brown she was accustomed to. “You won’t.” Then she leaned forward and took possession of his mouth.

His hands cupped her breasts. She moaned into his mouth as he started a wonderful torture to her nipples. He pinched and tugged, but his rough touch didn’t offend. Instead it stoked the fire burning inside her. A deep throbbing started in her core as she heard the material of her dress rend from neck to hem. He hadn’t bothered with the buttons, his haste to feel her bare flesh apparent.

His hands gripped her ass with a tight squeeze and she didn’t protest as he lifted her. Her ankles locked around his lower back as he walked them across the room. The unyielding wall was cool against the passion-flushed skin on her back.

Luken nipped at her lower lip as he slid a hand down between them, reaching to touch her where she burned. “Damn if you aren’t ready for me. Your hot little pussy is so wet.”

She moaned, moving her hips against his seeking fingers. A gasp tore from her lips as he pushed two inside her channel, her inner muscles spasming around his digits as they moved against her G-spot. She bucked against him, wanting more, and whimpered as he withdrew.

  “Luken, please.”

His hand moved as he released his cock from his pants. “Please what, Julie?” he whispered against her lips.

She panted, wiggling her hips against his erection. “I need you.”

His teeth and tongue skated across her lower lip. “Tell me what you need, Julie. I want to hear you say it.”

She moaned. “I need you inside me.”

“You need me to fuck you. Say it.”

Her teeth sank into his lower lip and she pulled back slowly. He growled. Her pussy creamed. “I need you to fuck me.”

His mouth crashed down on hers in a bruising kiss as he lifted her hips then slid her down on his cock. She moaned as he set a brisk pace, hammering his hips against hers. He fucked her deep and hard. During each driving thrust of his cock she cried out, the sounds he swallowed down as he continued kissing her. The slight pain of the roughness of his movements mixed with the intense pleasure he created in her. The mixture was something she’d never known before. A new level of rough and wild sex, and damn if it didn’t hurt so good. Her nails dug into his back as she held on tight. His movements became near frantic and he released her mouth.

Erratic breaths erupted from her chest as the first waves of climax shook her. She screamed as her pussy fisted him. His hips continued to piston against her as he let loose a roar. Her sex became slick with her cum and it rolled across her anus. The orgasm rocked her and her muscles quaked as he wrung out every pulsating throb her pussy had to offer.

She fisted her hands in his hair, clinging to him as she was overcome by ecstasy. Her cunt became super-sensitive, tingling and throbbing like never before. One orgasm flowed into the next, and her throat burned as she gave voice to the wonderful things he was doing to her body.

Then his body tightened and he growled low. Warm jets of cum washed through her and she whimpered as she let the contractions of his cock draw out her last orgasm.

  Chapter Eight

“Wonderful,” Arik said as his limo sped down the road.

Ivan glared at his boss. Julie had been within reach. He’d thought long and hard about their reunion. He’d understood why she hadn’t come to the prison. He didn’t want his woman around the scum in that place anyway. But when he was released on lack of evidence he’d found it hard to believe all the information Arik had disclosed about his beautiful Julie. Then he saw her with that man—animal. Whatever the fuck he was. Had she let him touch her? Of course she had, and she would pay for her sins. “What the hell do you think is so damn wonderful about losing five men? A
nd the others are scared shitless. And I still don’t have my wife back.”

Arik laughed. “People die in our world, Ivan. They should have fought better and they wouldn’t be dead. But think of it. The power. I’ll create an army.”

  “The wolf refused you, remember?”

Arik waved Ivan’s words away. “Apparently you’re not thinking straight because your pretty piece of ass has moved on. Get over it. I’ll find you a new piece of ass, maybe two or three if it suits you. But right now I need you to focus.”

Ivan’s blood boiled as Arik spoke. But he wasn’t stupid. If he said anything right now, Arik would have him shot and tossed in a heartbeat—blood kin or not—and then he would never have the chance to give Julie her just deserts. He’d bide his time and wait. Regardless of how long it took, he would get his hands on Julie. “Consider me focused, cousin.”

“Do you remember when Tommy did time on those attempted murder charges? He had that crazy cellmate, remember?”

Ivan thought back to that time four years ago and vaguely remembered Tommy talking about his looney cellmate. “What about him?”

“He was in there for triple murder. It was in the paper.”

The light bulb came on. “Oh yeah, he was found in the Morgan Monroe State Forest. Said he’d been attacked by werewolves, but all they found were the nude bodies of two females and a male. Holy shit, he was telling the truth.”

Arik laughed. “That means if we find that pack of wolves in Morgan Monroe then we have ourselves a way to be turned. We’re about to step into greatness, Ivan.”

Ivan sat back smiling. This was good news. If he had any wish of penetrating those wolves’ defenses then he had to be on equal ground. What would his mom say about his becoming a werewolf? Ivan laughed, a cold sound even to his own ears. Who gave a shit what the dead bitch thought?
